Scatterplots With Multiple Series

Jul 27, 2006

I need to make a scatterplot with multiple series of data that are of different length. Example:

XorigYorig X1Y1 X2 Y2
0.6415.31.1424.31.5408.6
1.1410.42.1413.13.8404.5
1.7370.22.8368.55.2392.1
2.3312.43.7336.6
2.9298.74.4311.3
3.4294.85.2287.6
4.0269.3
4.6253.7
5.2245.8

I want to get an xyscatterplot with, in this example, 3 independent lines. In the real situation there are about 18 series in a data set with cell counts over 40k for the entire set. I'd like to do this in VBA, but would also be interested in seeing how to do it using the chart wizard

2 Scatterplots, One Chart, Different X

Nov 1, 2006

I have two sets of X, Y data and want to display on one chart. The first two columns are the first experiment's X Y values and the next two columns contain the set set of experimental data. The X values are over the same range for the 2 experiments, but they differ in number of points and the exact X values used. How can I plot the two simultaneously on one chart. If I select the 4 columns before going to the wizard for a scatterplot chart, the Y data is plotted vs the point index number of the respective X data rather than the X data itself.

Multiple The Series

Jun 6, 2007

I need to create a chart where there is one horizontal series and one vertical series for each data point on the Y axis. Example: results for 5 people (series along the X axis) in trials vs. results for the same 5 people in the actual competition (second X series). The trials vs. actual is the Y series for a certain competition on date MMDDYY. The Y axis would represent the various competitions throughout the year.

Dynamic Charts With Multiple Series

Oct 22, 2007

I have used named ranges to make a chart automatically adjust to a changing list of products in one column, but I do not know how to do this with multiple series. If I want to add products to this table, how can I make my chart dynamically adjust multiple series?

So the chart range is currently E5:H10. But I would need it to go beyond row 10 when I add new items.

i was just wondering if there is an easier way of doing this

i havent really used macros but iv been reading up on it can i used it to do this?

I have added the table and graph and this is how i would like all the columns to look like
its the table called graph that makes the curves that i would like to be able to add in quickly

Dynamic Charting Of Multiple Series Data

Jan 12, 2009

I have several dynamic charts using named ranges, but I am charting 1 series of data. What about when I have multiple data sets or series and do not want to use PivotTables? Do I really have to make each one a named range? If that's the case, using VBA looks much simpler.

Fill Series - Column With Multiple Values?

May 9, 2012

I have a column:

LABEL COUNT
1 of 2
empty cell
1 of 2
empty cell
1 of 2
empty cell
1 of 2
empty cell
1 of 2
empty cell
1 of 16
15 empty cells

I need to fill the empty cell with the "series" (2 of 2, 2 of 16, 3 of 16). This is just an example of data - there are all different series - 1 of 12, 1 of 5, etc.

Anyway - was hoping to highlight the whole column and be able to auto fill instead of having to extend each series. I have tried straightforward fill series which doesnt work of course. I have tried go to special - blanks but cant find right combo to make it work.

Will it work or do I have to either do manually or with a macro?

Dynamic Chart Error For Multiple Series

I have created a dynamic chart for multiple series. I have created this using the offset function and have named 20 ranges. The problem I have is that if only 19 of the 20 named ranges are populated it reads that the worksheet contains one or more invalid references.

Is there a way to stop this from happening?

how to create a new XYScatter series based on dynamic conditions. For example, I have a very large, unsorted table with three columns: TGT, X, Y, Z.

TGT is an integer from 1-99 and is being filtered dynamically with an Advanced Filter. Anywhere from 0 to 10 conditions are being filtered by the Advanced Filter.

I would like to create a new series for each unique instance of TGT, with or without filtering.

Series Order In Legend, Multiple Chart Types

Aug 4, 2006

I have a chart that combines 2 xy plots and a set of stacked columns ( total of 4 series).

I can adjust the series ordering between the 2 xy plots, and between the stacked columns, but not for all 4 at the same time.

I'd like the legend to show up as:

Series1, Series2, Series3, Series4

where 1 and 2 are the xy plots and 3 & 4 are the components of the stacked columns.

It is currently:

Series3, Series4, Series1, Series2

Any idea how to re-order the legend entries?

Add & Delete Multiple Chart Data Series Labels

Jan 16, 2008

My friend has set up an excel workbook with a sheet for every month (labelled Jan graphs, Feb graphs, Mar graphs etc) which has 7 pie charts per sheet. The problem is the pie charts are showing the 0% fields and the data labels are overlapping. I have found a macro that gets rid of the 0% labels but I need to repeat the macro for all the 7 charts on each sheet and all 12 worksheets for each month of the year. I am very new to VBA and coding of any type and have looked but can't find the solution.

The macro I am currently using for "Chart1" on "Jan graphs" is below. The charts are labelled Chart1, Chart2, Chart3 etc.

Sub ClearLabels()

Worksheets("Jan graphs").ChartObjects("Chart 1").Chart.ApplyDataLabels _
Type:=xlShowLabelAndPercent

For Each x In Worksheets("Jan graphs").ChartObjects("Chart 1"). _
Chart.SeriesCollection(1).Points

200 Series But Get (The Maximum Number Of Series Per Chart Is 255) Error Message

Aug 4, 2014

I run a large simulation experiment. I have a loop plotting data in excel of a user defined area. Because of the limit of 255 series I have allowed a maximum of 250 simulations (they all need to be plotted). But the length of each simulation is free. I know there is a limit of 32.000 data points in a graph and I have this as a condition too.

If I set the data range to 100 columns and 3000 rows the graph is produced when I plot by columns. (code below)

But if I set the data range to 250 columns and 1000 rows I get the above mentioned error message. Even though I only have 250 series.

After the data is plotted it is the code below that gets the error:

Show Chart Data Series Labels On All Series. 2007

May 31, 2008

I just recently installed Excel 2007 and I would like to know if it's possible to change all data points of a chart at the same time. In Excel 2003, I would normally hold down shift while clicking on each of the data points to make a global change. However, it appears I cannot do that in 2007.

I would like to display each data point's series name. When I go to Layout on the Excel Ribbon, and click on "Data Labels", and click on "More Data Label Options", the actual Y-axis values are shown for each data point. However, I do not want this - I actually only want the Series Name, but when I uncheck "Value" and check "Series Name" instead (under "Label Contains"), it only changes it for one of the series. Is there a better way, instead of going through each and every single series to make this change?

I'm having difficulty doing any sort of combination.

Scatter Plot Chart With Multiple Series From Selected Range

Jan 31, 2009

What I want to achieve is a script that would create a new scatter plot of multiple series from a selected block of cell. I found a thread that was similar but what is different from my data is that my x values are different for each series.

The format of the data is in the following format, the first series will the first x,y pair, the 2nd series would be the second x,y pair. I don't know if it'll be an issue but one thing is that the date might be different lengths. For instance, the 3rd series, only has 4 data points, whereas the other series contains 6 data points?

x0.200.400.600.801.001.20
y5.002.501.671.251.000.83
x0.100.200.300.500.701.30
y5.002.501.671.000.710.38
x0.100.300.400.50
y6.672.221.671.33

So essentially, is there a way I can have the script say, select your range, and then graph the selected range as a scatter plot?

Summing Series Of Maximums In Larger Series

Aug 22, 2014

I consider myself decent at Excel, but I don't have quite the depth of knowledge I would like. Here is my issue:

I currently have a series of 50 numbers for each row on a 300 row spreadsheet. I would like to write a formula that identifies the six largest numbers in that series and adds them together. So, for example, if the series was 8-6-4-4-4-5-1-1-0-15-3-9, the formula would spit out 47 (15+9+8+6+5+4)

How do I write that kind of formula?

The first data series is historical (actual) data (i.e. Jan 2009 to August 2011). The second data series is forecast (Sept 2011 - August 2012). So i want the forecast series to start immediately after the historical series. It is a 'line with markers' chart. The key objective is that the forecast data looks visually distinct from the historial series.

Create Line Graph That Will Incorporate Multiple Columns Of Data In One Series Of Data

Sep 27, 2011

I am trying to create a line graph that will incorporate multiple columns of data in one series of data. The reason I do not place all of the data in one column is because it could exceed the maximum amount of rows allowed in excel. Also I need the data split up for viewing purposes.

I can easily just graph one column but how do I combine all the columns into one line graph with the data being in separate columns. Basically all the columns will be my Y values and X values are just 1:n.

Example Below:

Column AColumn B Column C159261037114812

Now in the example all of the values are x values.

For example, if X=3, Y=6 and Z=5:

(3+5)+(4+5)+(5+5)+(6+5)

X (and Y) will have to use values from 1 to up to tens of thousand. X, Y and Z (or X, Z and N) will be cell values from an existing table.
