The one thing that has always bugged me about Excel is that in order to modify an existing cell, I need to click on the cell and then click in the formula box above. If I want to overwrite the contents of the cell, I can just start typing, but if I want to edit it, I need to use the mouse. It really seems like like Alt-D should move up to this window like it does in Internet Explorer. I can move around Most Windows applications without need of a mouse save for this one area.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there someone who know the keybord shortscuts for copy a cell formula, whithout using mouse. Like this: A1: =VLOOKUP(I2;A:A;1;FALSE)
Then copy the cell formula to the end of the sheet:
A2:=VLOOKUP(I3;A:A;1;FALSE)
A3:=VLOOKUP(I4;A:A;1;FALSE)
A4: =VLOOKUP(I5;A:A;1;FALSE)
With the keybord.
I'm looking at [URL] which gives a lot of keyboard shortcuts, but not specifically what I'm looking for.
It's a basic function, I'm surprised it's not listed. I just want to copy the value of a selected cell via keyboard shortcut (for copy and paste purposes). I don't want the formula, just the value. If it were just text I would typically do CTRL-C and CTRL-V to paste like everyone does 1000 times a day, but in this case it's copying between two otherwise totally unrelated spreadsheets, so having the formula is irrelevant and produces undesired results. I just need the value of the formula.
Is there a keyboard shortcut for "copy value"?
To get cell to display results of formula I must edit (F2) and hit enter. Is there an easy way to do this in bulk rather than editing and hitting enter on hundreds of cells?
Example of formula:
=IF(COUNTBLANK(K2)=1,"",CONCATENATE("*** ",K1,": ",K2," "))
I have a s/s which is built on IF functions and references other sheets and I have used the s/s in the past without issue. However now I want to ammend the formula a little and excel will only display the formula itself, not the result of the formula. I have tried CTRL ~ to turn on/off the show formula function but this makes no difference.
My reason for changeing the current formula is that I need to turn a 2 (numeric) to 02 (which can be either numeric or text). This is the new formula.
=IF($A4="","",IF(VLOOKUP($A4,HCGTH1_DATA,22)=2,"02",VLOOKUP($a4,HCGTH1_DATA,22)))
Is there an issue with the formula or some setting in excel?
Formula to display only if. i have this formula
View 5 Replies View RelatedI need a simple formula that would save me some annoyance. Basically I have like 20 columns filled with various numbers. At the last column I like to take the last number in that row. However each row "last number" is in different column. So how do right formula that would basically take the last value in that row?
I have illustration here.
column 1 column 2 column 3 column 4 Final Value
ROW1 3 5 7 7
ROW2 2 2
ROW3 1 4 4
ROW4 8 8
What I want to do is write formula in Final value that will take the last number in the row.
I have a formula in A1 that I would like to execute from A2. I want the A1 to display the formula (so no "="), but I would like cell A2 to execute the formula in A1.
If A1 contains: "SUM(1+2)", how can I get A2 to display "3" without reproducing the formula?
A1: SUM(1+2)
A2: ????
I suppose I'm looking for something like this:
A2: ==A1
But, of course, that doesn't work.
If I do this it gets close:
A2: ="="&A1
But that returns "=SUM(1+2)" instead of executing the formula.
When I type a formula into a cell, it disapates into the answer. Eg: I type =100/2 into the cell. When I press enter and go back to the cell, the answer is displayed in the cell and in the formula bar. That is, it looks as if I typed in (hard coded) the cell as 50.
View 9 Replies View Relatedis possible to display the formula and value of the variables in a formula in a cell? e.g. if I enter '=A3+A5, the formula will appear in the cell. However, can I also have the valu of A3 and A5 in the same cell with the displayed formula?
View 5 Replies View Related=IF(D9<>"",IF(E9=TRUE,S5*0.46,TRUE)+IF(E9=FALSE,S5*0.3,TRUE))
If D9 is blank this formula displays FALSE, I need it be o or - instead of FALSE.
I am using the below formula to find the latest date (column N) based on fund (column G) and Vendor (column O) reference. How can I find (column I) where the balance of that payment is? I know there are formulas like INDIRECT RC[-1] but how to add them to my formula.
{=MAX(IF(Payments!G:G=B4,IF(Payments!O:O=C4,Payments!N:N)))}
Hopefully you will be able to help again. Is it possible to do a vlookup that references data on other tabs within the worksheet so that the result of the formula is in the cell not the formula.
So if my vlookup was =vlookup(a2,$a$1:$b$12,3,0) and the result was john smith i want just john smith in the cell. I know about copy and paste values but i was looking for a more automatic way. One that doesn't need intervention.
I would like to create a formula that allows the destination cell display a number depending on a word that is typed in the source cell. The source cell and the destinating cell will remain the same two cells.
example:A2=IF(A1="WORD1",1.5,0)
If i type WORD1 in A1 (source cell) then A2 (destination cell) will display 1.5, but how do i make this formula work for a multiple of different words.
example:A2=IF(A1="WORD1",1.5,0 IF(A1="WORD2",3.0,0 IF(A1="WORD3",2.5,0)))
this formula doesn't work, but is basically what i am looking for the formula to do - WORD1 displays 1.5, WORD2 displays 3.0, WORD3 displays 2.5 etc where the source cell and the destinating cell remain the same two cells, it is just the word and its value that change.
I am using the following formula to show the first day of previous 6 month cycle.
=DATE(YEAR(TODAY()),MONTH(TODAY())-6,1)
That formula would display: 07/01/2009
I want to have another formula show the last day of the previous month.
Basically it would display: 12/31/2009
I have a problem where I am linking data from two worksheets say: worksheet 1: A1 = 10, A2 = 20 worksheet 2: A1 = =Sheet1!A1, A2 = =Sheet1!A2
I have filled this formula through a certain number of cells on sheet 2 so that if i add more data to sheet1 it will appear in the appropriate place on sheet2. Is it possible to show the formula results in the formula bar, i.e. sheet2: A1=10, A2=20, such that i can used 'Find' or 'Autofilter' on the cell values rather than the formula?
I want to display the formula in the adjacent box to where it is actually used. Would anyone happen to know how to get that done? Example:
If cell A1 contains the following formula: A1+ A2
I want cell A2 to show : '= A1+A2'
I encountered problem for some excel files when typing a formula but
displayed a formula instead of its calculated values, e.g.
when I entered "=100 + 100", what I exepected is to display as "200", but it
was displayed as "=100 + 100" instead.
I built a formula but I need it to display the cell reference (column letter
& row number), not TRUE or FALSE, of the cell(s) that matches the criterias.
I have provided the formula to demonstrate what I'm trying to do.
=IF(--($F17="B")--($F17="D")--($F17="RS")*AND($M17="no",$O17="no"),"cell
reference")
The cell reference should indicate the cell in column "$F" along with the
row number.
I am using a worksheet change event to display the date and time that certain cells are manually changed. However, I would also like this to happen when a cell displaying a value based on a formula changes.

I have a excel file which deals with accounting systems. It has the Loan date in Cell B6 and Number of dues in cell B7. I need the column from B11 : B34 to be filled with due dates for every month. Suppose if the loan date is 12/05/2013 and number of dues is 10 then in B11 I should get 12/06/2013 , B12 it should be 12/07/2013 and B13 should be 12/08/2013 and so on based on the number of dues.

I have been programmatically setting the formulae in a worksheet. I have various formulae:
Example 1 - =COUNTIF(Data!M$6:M$9871,3)/$E$4
The cell is formatted Percentage, 2 decimal places.
Using the formula evaluator the value returned is 56.80%
The cell displays 56.80%, all is good!
Example 2 - =SUM(IF(Data!$J$6:$J$9871=$D8,IF(Data!$M$6:$M$9871=3,1,0)))/$E$8
The cell is formatted Percentage, 2 decimal places.
Using the formula evaluator the value returned is 53.37%
The cell displays 0.00% !?!
