I need a function or VB code to parse through a column of numbers and find a repeating pattern. The column has some initial numbers that do not fit the pattern and I need those returned along with the repeating pattern.

I made a code that automatically checks the date and then compares it to the date of the last save. If it is a new date then the colors of the tabs will randomize. It can also be done manually via a button. The problem is that I have now realized that the colors are always have the same pattern. Every day the first color is an orange color, no matter how many times I randomized yesterday...and so on. Is there a way to make the randomness not have a repeating pattern?

I have a weather graph I am putting together for fun and cannot figure out a way to bring data in for a table based on a consistent data pattern. My high temp averages are in column C along with other annual averages (High (Cell C7), annual avg. (Cell C9), low (Cell C8), precip (Cell C10) etc.) for that year, my data will go back 50 years. I am trying to find a formula that will bring the temp data into another column so I can create a graph of just the high temps or precipitation or any other measure. I have color coded the cells I am looking for.
Essentially, I am hoping that in column H, I will have a year (2014 for example) and column I will search for a match between column A and H (year), if a match is found, it will bring in data from that year for a specific category (Temp for example). OR, another option would be to to skip the cells and just pull in data from the cell (High temps would be in cell C7, C18, C29, C40 etc.) through a =C7+11 (cell count, not adding to number result) type of formula.
how can I modify the formula below so that after every row (i+60) the letter D changes to E then F, then G..... and so on. I want the following with the formula below:

I have a set of data in once cell and its strung out. I'm trying to pull the numbers that follow certain words from that data. That's easy enough with the find and mid function for the first one. But after that I have a repeating word (see below) and different numbers that follow it. So I want to pull the second number string after that word, the third and so on.

I have a spreadsheet that lists numbers in a column. They increase 1 number at a time, however the same number is listed 24 times before increasing to the next. I am trying to come up with a formula that will distribute the numbers as shown in this diagram:
To get the value of each number divide 42,000 by the last number in the pattern. For example the fifth column from the left would be 42,000/18. That means that each number would have a value of 2,333.33. By the time you reach the half way mark, nine in that example, you should have around 21,000, and the other 21,000 should be distributed between the last half (block 10 thru 18). The formulas would have to work on all of the patterns. Can anyone think of a way to match the pattern shown? It doesn't have to be exactly the same pattern just as long as the number of blocks remains the same for each half, and they total 21,000 for each half without going over 42,000 all together. There has to be 11 rows from top to bottom.

I would like to search for a certain pattern that appears in a cell. For example, I have certain cells that begin with a 7 digit project code (Ex: "1234567 - Project Red"). I was planning to use an IF inside a FOR loop and then do an action when I find the cell with the pattern. I've been trying to come up with a regular expression but to no avail. I'm looking to loop through a range of cells for any string where there isn't a space before and after a hyphen. When occurance is matched, then replace with spaces. One exception to the rule would be if data is contained within parentheses, then ignore. There could be zero occurances in string to many.
ie.
abc - def ==> ok, s/b skipped
abc - def (nnn-mmmm ooo) ==> ok, s/b skipped

Using the Find Function in VBA with pattern matching, I want to find the End statements in my code. How do I stop it finding the End If statements, of which there are hundreds maybe thousands. I tried End[ ][ ][ ] and End[!I] etc but they exclude the End statements as well.

I have a worksheet that has a list of data on the left going vertically, then a summary of this data going horizontally across the top. It is not arranged in such a way that transposing the data will do what I want. I am pulling the 5th word out of the title of each block of the vertical data and need to show this word on the horizontal section.

I need to increase A2 to A30, then A58 (up by 28 every time) in every instance in that formula. The fill handle increases the values by 1, instead of 28 (even if I do 3 or 4 instances manually) How do I do this? I've run into this problem in other scenarios, and there HAS to be a way to get around it.

I am really at a loss for how to do this and have combed over my book quite afew times trying to figure it out. However it has little if any excel info and nor does the ** that came with it outside of how to install data analysis tools. I figure I need to find a way to get excel to combine the numbers together for orders from the same company but after trying for afew hours I have gotten no where.

At present I have the following formula entered and it works, but after I click F9 some repeated numbers are generated.

I have taken over this spreadsheet for my work, and it is basically a statement in excel. What I want to do is find a list of invoice numbers in column B populated from a remittance, and then replace column F to say a specific thing depending on check number and date paying for that invoice. So if a check printed today I would have it replace column f to say paid 1/31/13 check # xxxxx. Currently I am searching for each invoice indivudually and then replacing with check number and date. There are about 200 invoices per month that I deal with, and it is a big waste of time!

I am trying to find the median of a set of numbers on a column that correspond to dates on the left column. I want a monthly median average of the numbers on the right which correspond to the dates on the left. So for example. I have repeating 7 names in A column.(Like a name group)
Each group names repeating after a blank(empty) row.
I want to write to B column for each repeating names from 1 to 7 as number value.
I have three cells in a column. A1, A2 and A3. There are only 4 possible numbers that these can have in them, 0,1,2,and 3. Here is the catch. None of them can repeat, although they can be in any order. And the column may only have data in the first cell or the first two or all three. I'm trying to set up two columns in Excel 2000; for simplicity sake, let’s just call them Column A and Column B. Each row in Column A will contain a code (a combination of letters and numbers) that represents one of 65 different workstations, and they could repeat multiple times. Each row in Column B will contain a number that represents a specific tool, and there are potentially hundreds of different tool numbers.
What I am trying to accomplish is to have something alert me when any tool number in column B appears alongside more than one workstation code in column A. It would really be nice if something like conditional formatting could be used to change the text to red or something when this happened. I know I can use filtering to accomplish this, but with hundreds of different tool codes, filtering just takes too long.
I am busy with a very large dataset +-20 000 records showing the movement data
and I am having problem with inserting missing data: I have columns titled day hour and position, but multiple records for each as data was initally recorded by second. Data looks like this

What I need to end up with is a sequential dataset running from day 1 to 388 with hours 1-24 of each day. Positions need to be filled in for all data recorded (see above). The big problem is that movements between positions need to be recorded and accounted for i.e if more than >80 of time was spent at the position Z3 then that is the position for the hour.
I am looking for a formula that will find the lowest 5 number group in column A with a total value from column B under $100 in the below table.

I am trying to make printable book labels in one worksheet based off of values from another. The labels that I have are standard address sized and come in sheets with 3 columns and 10 rows. My "label" worksheet has 5 columns (with B:B and D:D as "spacers") I made a "calculation" worksheet that simply runs the equation I want to use for the labels from A1:A1000. On the "label" worksheet, I have this formula in cell A1:
=IF('Label Calculations'!$A1="","",'Label Calculations'!$A1)
This way, it won't return 0s for blank cells from the "calculations" worksheet. I dragged down the formula to cell A10, but would like to continue the pattern so that cell C1 would be:
=IF('Label Calculations'!$A11="","",'Label Calculations'!$A11)
and cell E1 would be:
=IF('Label Calculations'!$A21="","",'Label Calculations'!$A21)
and the pattern would continue with cell A11 with the formula:
=IF('Label Calculations'!$A31="","",'Label Calculations'!$A31)
Then cell B11 would be 41, C11 would be 51, A21 would be 61, etc.
I can do it manually by adding the function in the top row of each "page" (A1,C1,E1 then A11,C11,E11...) and dragging them down each "page." However, I may end up with 20 some pages of labels. I feel like there should be an easier way I can do this.
