Use Data From Textbox, But Keep Formula

May 13, 2008

I have a userform that I use to enter data on a worksheet. Cells on the worksheet are populated from data in textboxes. The problem is that the formula that is in those cells, needs to stay to update the value when other data is changed, resulting in a different value. So basically, I need the value from the textbox in the userform to populate the cell, but keep the formula.

Formatting TextBox And Check Which TextBox Is The Active TextBox In The Loop

May 18, 2006

I am attempting to format some TextBoxes from within a For/Next loop. I need a way to check which TextBox is the active TextBox in the loop. Using i as the variable, I came up with this code snippet: Me.Controls("TB" & i).Text = Format("TB" & i, "mm/dd/yy")

If i = 3, this gives me in TextBox3 (which is called TB3) the text 'TB3' and not the value of what is in TB3. It has got to bo something simple, I just can't see it!!!

UserForm TextBox Sum Formula

Jun 4, 2006

I have pieced together and edited a userform that has text boxes and drop downs to collect data and send it to a worksheet, and it's working very well so far...
What I would like to do is - on the userform are two textboxes that will be filled out by the user, right below them is a textbox where I would like to immediately show the difference between the other two.

ie: txtbox1 = 200
txtbox2 = 125
txtbox3 = 75

I would like txtbox3 to show the difference right away and not allow the user to edit the box.

I've just gotten into VBA and have tried a few ways to do this but just don't understand well enough yet.

Populate Textbox On Userform With Named Formula

Sep 24, 2006

A textbox on a userform is populated through cell references which have formulas. Works OK. I want to change this by getting rid of the formulas in the cells and have the textbox populated by a name. The following formula is entered in the "Refers To" box =DEGREES(ATAN(RADIANS(ATAN2(Sht1!$G$34-Sht1!$G$33,Sht1!$H$34-Sht1!$H$33)))*(LastDep-Sht1!$G$33))+Sht1!$H$33
The name is "TopLine" (without quotation marks) When I enter =TopLine anywhere in the worksheet, it gives me the proper answer. I have been trying to populate the textbox with "TopLine" but without success. I tried a listbox but that doesn't work either. I have exhausted the search possibilities (I think).

VBA To Add Textbox Data To Separate Rows

Jul 16, 2014

I have a long textBox with multiLine = true and enterKeyBehavior = true. I need for each new line in the textBox to go to a separate row in the worksheet. Right now the data is copied to the next row in the worksheet, but all of the data in the textBox is entered into one cell. Is there a way for the lines to go into separate cells?

Example of what i am trying to accomplish:

TextBox:
------------------
blabla in line 1
blabla in line 2
blabla in line 3
etc................
etc................

then the VBA code would separate the lines into separate rows:

Worksheet:

Row 1: blabla in line 1
_______________________
Row 2: blabla in line 2
_______________________
Row 3: blabla in line 3
_______________________
Row 4: etc..

Enter Data In Textbox And Go To Cell Containing That Text

I am looking for some macro code where I can just type in the product ID into a textbox, then hit enter (or a 'go' button) and then the cursor will move to the cell containing the part number.

I know Ctrl+F will do the job for me, but because of the frequency that I do these searches, a text input box would be easier still.

The nearest solution I could find was the one here Find text but its a bit 'overkill' for my needs.

Adding Text From One Userform Textbox To Another Textbox

Dim ForeName As String
Dim SurName As String
Dim wwid As Variant
Dim iPosition As Integer

[Code] .......

Here is my code, it does a vlookup and if the persons name is not found it will split the text entered into forename and surname but when i try and add

Code:
frmAdd.txtForename.Text = "&ForeName &"
frmAdd.txtSurname.Text = "&SureName &"

It actually displays &ForeName & in the text box of the next from rather than what ForeName is..

eg. John Smith -> search button -> user not found msg -> user wants to add user -> string is split into forename and surname -> forename = John , surname = Smith -> display this in the second form.

What code should i be using to do this, i thought that &ForeName & would work.

Adding Comments To Textbox And Having Textbox Keep Updating

Apr 3, 2014

I have a form that has three fields (1. Comments (TEXT), 2. Legacy_Comments (TEXT), 3, Comment date (DATE))

Now my users need to keep adding comments to the comment text box, and when they do it automatically adds the date they entered the comment in the Comment date box. Now my problem is that since they keep adding comments to the comment box, I need to keep track of these comments in the Legacy_Comments (Text box).

For example, the First time a user enters a comment into the (1) comment text box it auto populates the date in the comment date box, and then adds the comment and date to the Legacy_Comment box. the end result is (comment,4/3/2014 now lets say a user needs to add a comment to the comments box tomorrow - I want the legacy_Comment box to then read (comment, 4/3/2014; comment2, 4/4/2014, ...., comment(n),date(n)) OR it can be vice-verse, because I just need to keep track of the comments, I am not worried if the new comments are before or after older (yesterdays / the day before yesterdays comments)

How can I write a VBA code that will always add the new comment to the legacy_comment field, without deleting the comments that were entered previously?

Code:
If isnull(me.comment.value) Then
Exit Sub
ElseIf me.comment.value = true Then
me.comment_date.value = date
me.legacy_comment.value = me.comment.value & "," & me.comment_date.value & ";"
me.legacy_comment.value = me.legacy_comment.value & "," & me.comment_date.value & ";"

It adds the comment only the first time, but it does not concatenate the string from yesterday to the string to today. I do not care which order the comments are, meaning if I added a comment today it can be before OR after the comment from yesterday.
