How To Set Table Range To Automatically Adjust To Source Data

Oct 17, 2013

How or if it is even possible to have a table automatically adjust its range or the number or rows it has based on another table

I have two tables:

Table1 is raw data that is added two daily

Table2 has formulas with column header references to Table1 that processes the information and converts it to a readable format. (basically barcodes to words)

Is there a way to get Table2 to automatically resize to the same number of rows that Table1 has whenever data is added??

Manually Select A Range During A Running Userform

Sep 10, 2009

I am trying to sum a dynamic range of values, clear the range (ie. clear the numbers on the spreadsheet), then place the sum of all the numbers in the last cell in the user selected range. (essentially adding all values selected, placing final sum in the last row of the range, and leaving no trace of performing the routine)

I want the range to be selected during the userform running (using showmodal = false). I can sum the selection and write the value to a cell, but I can NOT write the cell to the last value in the selection.

Copy All Data From Data Sheet, Sequence Top Down By Spend, Manually Delete All After 50

Sep 18, 2009

I have two sheets, a data sheet with all our customers by ref, name and spend; and a presentation sheet.

In the presentation sheet I want to display the ref, name and spend of the Top 50 customers by spend, price high to low.

The workaround:

Copy all data from data sheet, sequence top down by spend, manually delete all after 50.

My only issue is that each month the data sheet will update and I want the Top 50 to auto update, without performing the workaround above.

Is there a way to do this without VBA i.e. pivot tables etc

Adjust VBA Code To Run Only When Cells In Certain Range Are Changed

Feb 26, 2014

I've managed to piece together a VBA code that works perfectly for my needs. The problem is that the sheet it is on gets adjusted a lot, and I only need the code to run when certain cells are changed (rather than each time any cell is changed).

Here is the code I have now:

[Code] .....

Put simply, I need this code to run only when a cell in Range "TValueDeal" is changed. Is making this adjustment as simple as adding a couple lines of code, or is there a better way to write the entire thing?

Adjust Date Range Plotted On Chart

Oct 14, 2008

I am trying to get some help by adjusting my datarange dynamically based on what days I select. I would hope the chart could adjust to display for example 10/3/2008 to 10/10/2008 values and only those values.

I have been trying to figure out how the datarange varies in this post Dynamic Chart dataranges, I do not understand how to apply them to the charts source data. Ultimately Krish's chart would be ideal to understand and I belive is the keystone to where I am trying to go.

I have attached a sample of my workbook and the source data and chart I am trying to manipulate.

Add Data Monthly And Then Have To Manually Update The "source Data" To Reflect The Added Data On Chart

Apr 28, 2009

I have a column line chart to which I add data monthly and then have to manually update the "source data" to reflect the added data on chart. This is a rolling graph, which mean that I have to remove data for one month(from last year) and then include the new month's data. Is there any way on automating this process...like a macro or something, so once I add the data excel automatically removes one month of old data and make changes to include fresh data. Eg Currently chart is based on data from A2:F2 and I add new data to cell G2. I need something which automatically update the source data to cell B2:G2.

Filling Range With Array

Oct 9, 2013

I have a quick question in relation to filling a range with an array.

When I use the following code:

Code:
Sub justdoit()
s = Array(1, 2, 3)
Range("A1:C1") = s
End Sub

It works fine. but when I try to populate the range in rows instead of colums, the array value stays as the first value.

Code:
Sub justdoit()
s = Array(1, 2, 3)
Range("A1:A3") = s
End Sub

I'm experimenting with arrays and would like to get better at them, but this has me stumped for the moment. How to get the values to work going down, like they do going across.

The above code is a small sample of data, I am wating to replicate with using over 80K lines and cell by cell is too slow.

Adjust Dynamic Range To Ignore Formulas In Blank Cells?

May 19, 2014

Attached is a spreadsheet I am working on that has a series of graphs with defined dynamic ranges. I am having 2 separate issues on 2 different tabs.

1) Ranges named AirRecBra4 (and Bra10); AirComBra4 (and Bra10); AirRemBra4 (and Bra10) are not pulling in data from the correct data points. Instead of using the last 26 data point, they are currently beginning at the top of the column (currently cells 11 to 36 is their respective columns). The formulas are copy and pasted from working offset ranges in the same tab but are reading differently.

2) On the last 6 tabs beginning with Stn Backlog, I want to have defined formulas beginning in cell B119 and continuing downward to at least F200. However, when I add the formulas, the offset reads the formulas as being data and adjusts for that. I do not know how to adjust the dynamic range to ignore formulas in blank cells.

Adjust Formula Range Reference As Columns/Rows Added

Apr 4, 2008

I'm using a template that has formulas using a $ sign to attempt to stop the ranges they refer to changing. The problem is, when I use the template (which involes Access importing some data and adding columns to the sheet the formula refers to in the process) the rows referred to in the formula change in line with the number of rows of data that have been imported. Only the row numbers change not the column headings. So for example:

=( SUMPRODUCT(((Workings!$H$3:$H$1000=Explanation!B9)+(Workings!$E$3:$E$1000="Buy")*(Workings!$J$3:$J$1000))))-998

becomes
=(SUMPRODUCT(((Workings!$H$511:$H$1508=Explanation!B10)+(Workings!$E$511:$E$1508="Buy")*(Workings!$J$511:$J$1508))))-998

Filling Down With An Offsetting Found Range

Feb 7, 2007

I am trying to replace blank cells in a range with the value a found cell. For example, in column A there are blank cells interspersed with cells that have "Account:" in them. For each row that has "Account:" there is a specific account number in column B.
A B
Row
1 Account: 234
2 gobbly
3 gook
4 Account: 456
5 stuff

I would like to fill the blank cells down with the appropriate number (A2 = 234, A3 = 234, A5 = 456). I've tried various integrations of the Fill Down with Macros code and Aaron's Find_Range code but haven't figured it out. The closest I've come is filling all the blanks with the first account number (A2 = A3 = A5 = 234).

Sub FillAccounts()

Dim rRange1 As Range, rRange2 As Range
Dim account As Range
Set rRange1 = Worksheets("test").Range("A2:b" & _
Worksheets("test").Range("b65536").End(xlUp).Row)
On Error Resume Next
Set rRange2 = rRange1.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeBlanks) ...................

Dynamic Named Ranges Where Data Is Manually Added And Deleted

Apr 22, 2013

A lot of the Workbooks that I design for use by myself and colleagues require data to be copied in from external data sources. To avoid named ranges from failing, I always use the following method:

Calculate the length of the data set:

Code:
=COUNTA(INDIRECT("'Data Sheet'!"&"$A:$A"))

(There will be no gaps in the data, hence a count is fine.) This named range is called DSROWCOUNT.

Example named range for the data in column A:

Code:
=OFFSET(INDIRECT("'Data Sheet'!"&"$A$1"),1,0,DSROWCOUNT-1,1)

I use INDIRECT to ensure my named ranges do not fail if the data is deleted (accidentally or intentionally), as #REF! errors will occur.

The problem with this method is that it automatically makes the Workbooks volatile because of the use of OFFSET and INDIRECT, hence the Workbooks always needs to be in manual calculation mode to be usable.

Excel 2010 :: Keeping Manually Entered Table Data Associated With Correct Row?

Jan 14, 2014

I have a table created in Excel 2010 by a SQL query. the query pulls 3 columns of data - Resource Name, Contract Company, Labor Category. I then add a column called "KEY". KEY is derived using VLOOKUP. VLOOKUP is matching the Contract Company from the table created with SQL to a table called "Rate Key" in another worksheet in the spreadsheet based on the matching the Contract Company. That all works fine. If the table changes due to changes in data coming from the SQL db, the column I've added using VLOOKUP recalculates correctly. Then I add 2 more columns. One is called RATE - which is a number that I manually type in. The last column is called RCode and is calculated by the RATE times the KEY. Whenever I refresh the SQL query, all of the the calculated rows work fine; however, the data in the RATE column that I manually enter does not move - it stays with the row regardless of whether or not the name changes when the new SQL data comes over. How do I get the values manually entered in the RATE column to move with the correct row when the rows change?
