Call Statement In Loop Only Once
Oct 16, 2007
If ComboBox1.Text = " Market 1" Then
StoreNumList = Array ("66", "67", "107", "222") 'obviously array string is much longer than this
For x = LBound(StoreNumList) To UBound (StoreNumList)
StoreNum = StoreNumList(x)
ComboBox1.value = StoreNum
Call btnOK_Click_Process
Next x
Program runs fine first step through. It calls the btnOK_Click_Process sub routine just fine. However on second and subsequent For/Next cycles it does not call btnOK_Click_Process.

Macro which loops through a number of files and calls the same macro in each of them. Unfortunately when I add "Application.Run..." to the code, it no longer loops through the process and instead stops after updating the first file in the loop. If I remove the "Application.Run..." code and add any other code, the loop works fine and it continues through the process repeating all the steps for each file found.
Why it stops after one file when using "Application.Run..." to call the macros?
NB I have a list of path and file names starting in row 8 of columns A and C. Each file in the list has a macro called UpdateS1 and promoupdate1.
Sub C_Run_Loop_Macro()
Dim lastRow As Long
Dim i As Long

I am having a problem calling buttons. I have an array with button names and another array with their caption texts and I would like to call them one by one in a for loop:
For i = 1 To UBound(button_array)
Sheets("Statistic").Shades(button_array(i)).Caption = button_text(i)
Next i
But the only way I seem to be able to call them is by their set names, like:
Sheets("Statistic").statistic.Caption = button_text_ENG(i)

I have a spreadsheet with a list of names from cell A5 to A? - can be as many as 130 names or as few as 20. I have to create individual spreadsheets with the persons name as part of the filename. I have 3 subroutines which work manually ( CreateFile, LookUp and NewWorkbookSave ) so that I can generate individual files for those users who require them. However I need to be able on occasions to create a full teams worth of files with one click - to this end I need to be able to loop through cells A5 - A whatever and call the Subroutine CreateFile - I enclose the code I have so far
Const Fname = "AON Ver 3,0.xls" 'insert filename here like "AON Ver 3,0.xls"
Const DirName = "\Ukplscs105central repositoryAOMTally SheetsTeam upload Tally sheets"
Const TeamName = "AON" ' insert team Name here like "AON"
Const FilePath = DirName & TeamName

Sub CreateFile()

I have the following loop that should look through my rows of data for the Value "Y" in column T, for those rows that contain "Y" it should update column K with the variable xdate. For some reason it doesn't seem to work, it changes the first entry it finds and then seems to crash, I have to use CTRL+BREAK to stop it.

how to get my LINEST function to work properly. Now, what I'd like to do is have it reduce or increase the order of the polynomial until R^2 equals 1.0, or the polynomial reaches 6th order, whichever comes first.
Can I do this with a bunch of nested IF ELSEIF statements, or is there a cleaner way to do this?

I have a code like this below
Sub Copydata()
Dim emre As Integer
For emre = 100 To 121
Sheets("CP TB").Select
ActiveSheet.Range("$B$8:$G$10000").AutoFilter Field:=3, Criteria1:=emre
Range("E8:F8").Select
[Code] .....
I want to skip values when the selection is a value I choose. I tried to put a "If" statement but I couldn't make it work.
The IF statement will check the selection after red colored code. if cell value is "a" then it will go for Next emre.

I am having an issue getting an IF statement to work inside a DO loop. I have Microsoft Excel 2007 and Windows 7 Entreprise.
In my Excel spreadsheet, I have in column B a list of keywords and in column C the category to which each keyword belongs. For instance, the keyword "boot" goes withe the category "Shoes", "scarf" goes in "Accessories", etc.
In another column, I have a list of product descriptions (like "Black Boots" or "Silk Scarf") and I would like to assign the relevant category to each product. I thought to do this by creating a new function in VBA. This function would go through the whole list of keywords in column B, checking if the keyword is included in the product description. If it is, the function's result would be the relevant category, and if it is not, the function would search the next line in column B, until a relevant keyword is found, or until the end of the list.
Here is the code I have written so far:
Code:
Function SegmentSearch(Item)
Dim i As Integer
i = 1
Do
i = i + 1
If Application.WorksheetFunction.IsNumber(Application.WorksheetFunction.Search(Sheet5.Cells(i, 2), Item)) = "TRUE" Then SegmentSearch = Cells(i, 3)
Loop Until Application.WorksheetFunction.IsNumber(Application.WorksheetFunction.Search(Sheet5.Cells(i, 2), Item)) = "TRUE"
End Function
Without the loop, the function works fine (if "Item" happens to include the first keyword in the list) but as soon as I try putting the loop I get a #VALUE! error.

My nested loop works as intended without If statements, ie it counts non blank cells in a series of 17 ranges (this loop is called the CountRangesOnEachRow loop) AND then drops down a row and repeats (this loop is called the RowNo loop). The problem is that once my first If statement occurs the RowNo loop fails and it stops at the first row.
The first If statement is designed to do the following:
1. Tests to see if A4 has data. If yes, copy cell contents (pupil's name) to Sheet(2).Range("StudentName")
2. If empty skip the countranges loop and move down a row to A5.
3. Cells A4:A35 need to be tested for data in this manner.
I've included a sample workbook & code with the IF statement comment blocked so you can see what it should do AFTER it tests the A column for data. The macro should end after row 6 as A6:A35 are all blank.

I have a work book with 3 sheets. Sheet 1 is the main sheet and sheets 2 and 3 will use (I hope vlookup) to update 3 columns from info in sheet 1. my attempt at a vlookup call in sheet 2 is: =VLOOKUP($b3,[master_AoJ_2.xls]Sheet1!$B$3;$B$65,false)
my understanding is that: - $b3 is the cell in sheet 2 that will be updated as a result of the vlookup call. - [master_AoJ_2.xls]Sheet1!$B$3;$B$65 refers to range $B$3:$B$65 on sheet1 of master_AoJ_2. it does not work... infact I get nothing at all. when I type the call into cell $b3 of sheet2 excel thinks it is stariaght text. this is how I coded the function call =VLOOKUP($b3,[master_AoJ_2.xls]Sheet1!$B$3;$B$65,false)

I am currently using an Intersect statement in a worksheet module to perform two things:
1. Insert a time stamp into row 2 when row 1 has a price inserted
2.To clear that time stamp if the price is deleted at some later date.
My problem is with the time stamp value being deleted by the user.
If I try to clear the price (now that the time cell =empty) I get a Runtime error 91 - Object Variable or With block variable not set.
I would like to convert this code to a select case statement but I'm not sure how to do this in this situation. Would error coding be appropriate in this instance?

If r.Value = "X101" Then
r.EntireRow.Copy
Sheets("X101").Range("A1").End(xlDown).Offset(1).PasteSpecial xlPasteValues
End If
Next r
End With
-------------------
I need to repeat this loop for values from X101 to X151. In all cases, the sheet name is equal to the value I'm looking up (eg: value = X102 goes to sheet X102).
I have a named range called 'territories' that contains the list of X101 -> X152.
I'm hoping to make the code perform the loop for each of the territories without my having to copy & paste and change the 'X101' 51 times as this would seem a rather silly thing to do!

I have working code that returns a row number within a for loop based on parameters I set.
Each time the for loop runs I would like to store this row number, then after the loop has finished, delete all stored rows.
Code:
for rowNum = 1 to x (some variable end row number which I already have worked out using End(xlUp).Row)
if x = y then
*storedRow = rowNum
end if
next rowNum
*
Lines with a * are the bits I can't work out. I've been trying to understand arrays by reading posts on what other people have done, but I can't fit (or fully understand) the reDims, or reDim preserves into my code. I've seen what appear to be quite complex ways involving uBounds and LBounds, but unfortunately I can't see how to use them.
All I want is to simply keep adding a row numbers to a variable, (i.e. row 2, 5, 20, 33, 120, etc) and then delete those specific rows.

I am looping through each cell in a range and I would like to loop in reverse order.
Dim CELL As range
Dim TotalRows As Long
TotalRows = Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row
For Each CELL In Range("C1", "C" & TotalRows)
CELL.Select
'Code here to delete a row based on criteria
Next
I have tried:
For Each CELL In Range("C" & TotalRows, "C1")
and it does not make a difference. I need to loop in reverse order since what I am doing in the loop is deleting a row. I am looking at a cell and determining its value. If the value is so much, then the row gets deleted. The problem is that the next row "moves up" one row (taking the pervious cell's address) and therefore the For Each Next loop thinks it has already looked at that row.

I have a workbook that contains, say, 50 worksheets: the first two worksheets summarise the data and are static in that they don't move position. However, the next four worksheets contain certain data for any given month. Each time a new month comes along, say, November, I insert four new worksheets after the two static ones as a result October's four worksheets are simply moved down the line in terms of worksheet order.
I need a macro to refer to the first six worksheets only (not the other tabs). I opted for index referencing for each worksheet, ie one - six. Now within these six worksheets in any given month, I need to sort the data by a certain column. The problem: in sheets 1,4,5 and 6 I need to rank by column E, but in sheets 2 and 3 I need to rank by column C. I have stepped through the code, which works for sheets 3-6, but doesn't seem to refer to sheets 1-2.

I am attempting to use a previously Set variable as part of the next Set statement, pretty unsuccessfully at present.
My purpose is trying to look up
Code:
tb_SelJobID.Value
from a userform in Col Z then look across the row to Cols D,I,N,S & W (different types of work) to see if
Code:
TbSelYr.Value
matches the year selected then insert a formula in the row to the left. Then loop down to the FinalRow.
Currently my Set Found1 statement does not recognise my Found10 value. I know it will be my syntax as it always is. I have cut down the following code to display where the problem areas are, Found1 thru 5.
Code:
Sub CmdGo3_Click()
Dim Row As Range
Dim FinalRow As Long
Dim Found1, Found2, Found3, Found4, Found5, Found10 As Range
Application.ScreenUpdating = False

I have an Excel Sheet which I use as Database. The database has 11 columns and I insert data with the following function:
Code:
Sub testInsert()
Dim adoCommand As New ADODB.Command
Dim sQuery As String
Dim i As Integer
Dim strTest As String
strTest = "test"
[Code] .......
Now I want to retrieve this data. i.e. I want all F1 where F2 and F3 are 0 AND I want them ordered descending. I'm trying to achieve this with:
Code:
Sub testSelect()
Dim adoCommand As New ADODB.Command
Dim sQuery As String
Dim mrs As New ADODB.Recordset
Dim strTest As String
strTest = "test"
[Code] ....
The result I am getting looks like this:
9
8
7
6
5
4
3
2
15
14
13
12
11
10
1
I assume, that the data is interpreted as String instead of an integer. But I explicitely stated the data as Integer when storing the data into the DB.

I've worked on a solution for this thread (http://www.excelforum.com/excel-prog...-automate.html) but have been mentally challenged with how to avoid changing the loop counter in one of the loops I have used to resort an array of file names from the getopenfile dialog.
The aim of the shown code (see post 12 of the above link for attached file) is to check if the file containing the macro is included in the array returned by getopenfile while sorting the array of file names, and if so, moving it to the end of the array for "deletion" by redimming the array to exclude the last item. This problem of the open file being selected in the dialog may never arise, but... as the OP's request in the other thread was to allow two-way comparisons between numerous files, I've considered it likely enough to test for.
Here's the code I have settled for esp between the commented lines of hash symbols, which does change the counter (see the commented exclamation marks), but prevents an infinite loop (on my second try!) by using a second boolean flag of "HasCounterBeenChanged". Is there a better way of doing this? Or, alternatively (not in my thread title), is it possible to prevent the active file being selected through one of the arguments in the getopenfilename method?

I have created a very long switch statement, which is too long to be placed in one row in VBA. I have attempted to put a space and underscore at the end of one line and continue the statement on the row below by placing a comma at the start of the second line. VBA will accept my efforts, but when I run the statement in the immediate window, the following error appears.
"Invalid procedure call or argument"
I understand that there are certain rules where I can split a switch statement onto two lines, yet I do not know what they may be.

I am working on some code that loops through a column of number values. Whenever it encounters a number value and a blank cell in an offset column, it places that number value into an offset cell (forming a separate column to be compared to another column in a separate sheet). I would like to take all the values in that new column and begin placing them in a new column in a separate sheet adjacent to another table. Most of the time, these values should match the adjacent values in the separate worksheet. However, if they don't match, I would like a new row to be created for that mismatched value.
For example. This is the first worksheet. So far, my macro loops through the column with rows 1-5. It looks in the offset cell(0,2) for Isempty value and then places that value into the offset cell(0,6)
