What I mean is, I have a formula that sums a specific cell across several tabs.
=sum('120:125'!C15)
Lets say that this formula resides in a summary sheet. And that the summary sheet is definable by a control in another sheet (user friendly).
So in the user friendly sheet, a user toggles to 'Assets'. In the Summary sheet, Assets appears in cell a1, there is a lookup table somewhere, and a lookup value of 120 appears in cell a2.
I want the formula above to adjust for cell a2.
If a2 = 115, then the formula should adjust to
=sum('115:125'!C15)
Of course after I understand how to do this, I can do the same with the end of the sheet range and the cell ref.
I own 3 restaurants and I use Excel to track my sales statics. I have to enter certain pieces of data on a daily basis and it can become slightly cumbersome when dealing with the sort of washed out look of Excel spreadsheets. I wanted to write a Windows application that would handle the process for me but my knowledge of programming languages is too limited and I don't really have the time to learn. What I'd like is to have a single page on my workbooks with which I can enter the data in on a field type view, and have it go to the appropriate cell on the "Raw" data sheets in the same workbook. For example:
Let's assume this is the Raw data sheet. I currently enter the data that I need here, and Excel does the rest for me. This gets hard to look at everyday when dealing with hundreds of numbers.
Net Sales Taxes Prior Year Sales Percent Increase/Decrease
[Code].....
Entering the data here would automatically fill in the data on the Raw sheet, and would know which cells to put the data into based on the date, which would of course be gotten from the =Today() formula.
Conditional formatting. I want to change the color of a group of cells based on data in another group of cells. Example:
If cells G8 and G9 (which are merged) are between 80% and 94%, then I9,I10,I11 (which are merged) will turn Yellow. Also, under the same scenario, IF G8 and G9 is greater than 94%, then cells I9, I10, I11 will turn Red.
I am trying to have my spreadsheet pull data from one tab and cell if they match another.
Tab "Ag Orders" column H, I enter data in lets say cell H37. Whatever I enter, if it matches tab "reference List" C:C, then "ag orders" column G (specifically G37) should enter the data in "reference List" D:D
So since in H37 I entered 34000 - 314620, G37 should pull in Farm Operations since on the referene list tab that string of numbers (C11 matches up with D11)
a little confusing but I hope it makes sense.
13-14 budget-AG.xlsm
This isn't the exact formula I used but something like it and it wasn't working. It wouldn't match the data up correctly on a few of the department names
I have some cells that are summed with total cost.... now i need to sort the totaled cells? How do i sort a cell that has a formula based on multiple other cells?
What type of formula would resize a text box based on the input of two cells? Here's what I'm trying to accomplish:
A1 - width (in inches) A2 - height (in inches)
Converts the text box to that height & width.
This is for a sign request form I am creating that would give our requestors the ability to see the size layout of their sign and then input their text to match what they're looking for.
I'm looking for a formula that will take the cells used as a heading and place them cell into columns with the corresponding rows under the heading.
I'm thinking that the formula will have an offset that counts the blank cells in column A then place the text from the heading cells (by heading cells I mean the ones that say "Type A" and "Code X") next to the rows with the products.
This is a project plan with tasks and dates. Column A is the activity number. (Example 1, 2, 3" etc). Column B is the task (Ex. "Complete Report"). Column C is number of days required to complete the task. Column D is the dependency column. (Ex. Cell D2 =1 in other words Task 2 is dependent on task 1). Column E is the date.
I would like to have a seperate start date cell and a go live date cell.
The objective is to enter a start date, and have each column E date increase based on the number of days entered in Column C. If a task is dependent on another and I change the number of days in Column C I need the dependent task to change the same amount of days.
Would anyone have a script for something like this?
I'm looking at range c5:c1200
Starting at C5
If the first 2 digits in that number start with 01 then I want the formula to be in G5 = F5*12
if the first 2 digits are 03 then I want G5 = F5*24
I have several of these if statement to put in However I need it to check the entire range as well because the formula may be different in each cell (G)?
I am creating on the fly an array (2 columns) in which the one row cell is mathematically derived from its neighbor (A left-hand cell). However, when the mathematically derived product exceeds a value, the row neighbor changes to another constant until its neighbor's product exceeds another value, etc. Can I create such an array without resorting to VBA?
I am trying to put together a report tracking sheet, ie I have different test that take a different length of time to return to the office and I want to be able to see when a test should be back from the lab,ie:
A blood sample takes 1 day, a urine sample takes 3 days.
I need a formula that basically says that if the data in cell A1 = Blood, (and I have the test date in cell A2) then the data in cell A3 should says A1=Blood, A3=A2+1 to give me the test due date
I found the following formula in one of the other posts;
=IF(E5="BLOOD",G5+1,IF(E5="URINE",G5+3,0))
The problem that this will only work with two tests and I have more than two tests, I have fourteen and each takes a different length of time to process.
I'm trying to create a list that references an existing data set where I have staff listed month by month and based on today's date, imports only if there is data in that column. I have figured out how to check if the cell is blank or not, but what I want to do now is change the cell that is referenced in the formula based on the date. Here is the format of the spreadsheet I'm working with:
A B C D E F G H
[code].....
In this case, the "Team 1" and "Team 2" and "Team 3" references what team they are on that month. If it is blank, they aren't with the company any longer. The formula I am using is intended to import this data elsewhere, and is formatted like this:
=IF(ISBLANK(B2), "", A2) - My understanding is that this checks to see if B2 has data, and if it does, it inputs the employee name (A3) in that cell.
My ultimate goal is to be able to change the column referenced after the "isblank" calculation based on the date. So if today is April 2013, I want it to check B2, but if it's December 2013, I want the formula to check J2. Is there a way to do this? I don't mind if it's two steps (like if I have to put the date somewhere in the spreadsheet in order to run the calculation), but ultimately it would be the type of thing I could do that would leverage the existing data set so that I don't have to maintain two different spreadsheets of information.
When the sum of B7-D7 is less than cell (I7) I would like to change the shade of B7-D7 to orange to indicate that larger values need to be entered to equal the value of cell I7. And when the sum of these three cells does equal I7 their color should change to green. I recorded two macros to change the colors and I've run them to verify they work. But I've got something off in my simple macro below.
I'm using some basic code below in an on Workbook Open event to format cells with a value less then 2 and less than 1 with a particular color.
The code works, but it really slows my worksheet down when opening. Is there better way to write this?
Code:
Dim myRange As Range Dim cell As Range Set myRange = Range("V6:V50000") For Each cell In myRange If cell.Value < 2 Then cell.Font.ColorIndex = 5 If cell.Value < 1 Then cell.Font.ColorIndex = 3 Next
I have created a named range that includes raw data layed out in 4 columns (Finish Name, Fill Color, Pattern, Font Color). On a separate sheet, when one of the finish names is selected in a particular cell, I want the cells fill, pattern, and font color to change according to the raw data. Below is the vba code I am trying to get to work. However, it is not working. It does not break, but does not achieve the desired result. It looks like the variables are getting set correctly, but still not changing the cell when they are referenced. I am only testing it on the first finish color, as seen in the code. All of the rest are static values for the cell, but I want the values to be dynamic.
Sub SetFinishSeparatorColor() ActiveCell = frmFinishSeparator.cboFinish.Value Set rngTarget = ActiveCell With Sheets("Pick List Do Not Tamper").Range("Finish_Cell_Color") lngFinishCellColor = . Find(What:=rngTarget, After:=.Cells(1, 1), _ LookIn:=xlValues, LookAt:=xlWhole, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, _ SearchDirection:=xlNext, MatchCase:=False).Offset(0, 1)..............
I need to pull info to additional tabs. The problem I am having is that the data is sorted daily based upon performance numbers, so the REP names in column A can change based upon the data reported in column C.
What I want to accomplish:
Pull daily data for each unique name in column A to a team tab/worksheet that will be used to report that team's daily data.
Below is a representation of the data I need to break down by Rep Name and Team.
Rep DATA DATA DATA DATA DATA DATA DATA 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 REP 2 27.5% 14
I would like to have a cell (A2) with "H" in it. then have another cell with something like =A2&"2" which would equal H2 and actually reference cell H2?
I want to change the fill color of all cells on my sheet, based on the value of one specific cell. In my sheet, I am using cell F1 as the trigger for the change. If the word Blue is in the cell, I want the background color of all cells to be Blue. Likewise for Red and Yellow as well. I don't believe conditional formatting can get this done, as all but the one cell (for this) will be empty.
I am trying to do is to write a code that will change the values of cells B17:B25 to "false" when the user selects "true" from the drop-down box in cell B16.
Here 's my Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Address = "B16" Then If Target.Value = "TRUE" Then Range("B17:B25").FormulaR1C1 = "FALSE" End If End If
End Sub
This is not working! Nothing happens when I select "TRUE" in cell B16!
Is there a way to change the text in a cell to proper apart from 2/3 letter words which I want to keep as upper? Basically can it ignore all words that are 2 or 3 letters long, but change all other words to proper text?
I am atempting to do some autoshape conditional formating. I am about above average when it comes to working with Excel, and I know little to some Visual Basic. Here are the two things I am attempting to accomplish.
1. I am attempting to use VBA to change the color of a Large Pyramid Autoshape called "JanPyramid". The thought behind this is, I wish to have the Pyramid show vbGreen when it is <= my target (which in this case is a user inputed cell called "RECTARGET", so instead of using a number in my VB code I would like to have it refer to this cell in E58) I want the Pyramid to show vbRed when the total Recordables (this number is generated by using a COUNTIF function, so it counts all entrys in the table that have REC entered for its status, in this case the cell is called "RECCOUNT" and is located in I54) is > my target, E58 "RECTARGET"
2. I have already sort of gotten this to work by using values instead of using cells. But it is still is not perfect. I would prefer to use the actual cells because my targets and the actual counts can be different depending on what happens during that month. Here is the code I have in so far, it is with the values instead of it being the cells because I do not know how to make it read the cells instead of values:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) If Not Intersect(Target, Range("RECCOUNT")) Is Nothing Then If IsNumeric(Target.Value) Then If Target.Value > 0 And Target.Value <= 2 Then ActiveSheet.Shapes("JanPyramid").Fill.BackColor.RGB = vbGreen ElseIf Target.Value > 2 Then ActiveSheet.Shapes("JanPyramid").Fill.ForeColor.RGB = vbRed End If End If End If End Sub
This code is a hybrid from this Ozgrid thread: Changing fill color of autoshapes based on cell numeric values.
I have attached an example file.. Basically I want the text in a range to change to red if one cell="Description".
Also, I want a cell's text to turn blue if it's corresponding data in the row says "Click on Title to Follow Link"
The example file explains it a lot better..
Thanks for the help.. Sorry if this may seem like a duplicate post but I was not able to get any of the examples I searched for to work that others have posted.. Also, maybe conditional formatting would be an option here but I could not get it to work as it will only meet the first condition that comes across thats true...
I'm creating a project calendar in Excel and for each task I have a Start Date (A) and End Date (B) in adjacent cells. To the right are corresponding date cells like a timeline set up with 52 cells representing weeks of the year. I.e Week 1 (C) starts at 02 Jul 12, Week 2 (D) starts at 09 jul 12 etc. up to 24 Jun 14 (BF).
Start Date End date 02-Jul-12 09-Jul-12
[Code]......
When a start date and end date are entered in the respective columns, I need to have the color start on the cell for that range in the timeline and that color should carry out to the end date cell in the timeline. A bit like a Gantt chart but not to that detail.
I'm trying to wrap my head around this. I have in a formula in one sheet pointing to a cell in another. Once I insert a row the formula adjusts. I need them to remain static.
I have tried searching, however I'm not 100% on the terminology.I have tried the F4 shortcut and put the $ signs in, however they still change.
I work in a Wordprocessing Center. I have a spreadsheet that is a list of dates, and the jobs/projects that were done on that day. The dates are for the days Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
So, for example: in cell E2:E150 are the dates ranging from 11/2/2007 through 11/4/2007.
Off to the side, in cell L:15 through L:17, I've manually typed in the dates 11/2/2007 to 11/4/2007.
My problem is: I need to be able to count how many times 11/2/2007 shows up in the range of E2:E150. The thing is, I don't want to have to type 11/2/2007 or 11/3/2007 or 11/4/2207 in the formula. I want it to get the specific date from L:15 (what I've typed in).
My goal is that the range of dates will always change in cells E2:E150. Then I will manually type in the three dates of question into cells L15:L17. Then Excel will count the occurences for me.
what formula to use when my formula does not determine any data (N/A) in a cell in order to count and use count number to determine annualized % change.
State 2002 2003 2004 2005 Annualized Change GA 36.8% 37.1% 45.5% NA 4.4%
=SUM((C4-B4)+(D4-C4)+(E4-D4))/3 (here is my formula)
I am having some issues with my conditional formatting code. I need 5 condtions, so I cannot use the built in Cond. Format. Column E is the average of cells F,G,H and when I update the numbers in F/G/H the background color is changed to the appropriate color, but column E does not change color!!! Example: The average (E) will start as a 90 and have a red background, then when the inputs(F/G/H) are changed and the average(E) now equals 30 but it is still shaded red! Is there anyway to have every cell updated, to make the cell change from Red to Green automatically??? Below is a copy of my code.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim WatchRange As Range Dim CellVal As Integer If Target.Cells.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub CellVal = Target Set WatchRange = Range("E6:H15")
If Not Intersect(Target, WatchRange) Is Nothing Then Select Case CellVal
Case Empty Target.Interior.ColorIndex = xlColorIndexNone Case 0 To 19 Target.Interior.ColorIndex = 8 Case 20 To 39 ..........................
