I am trying to have one cell (G5) populate with a timestamp when a change is made to any cells in a range (some are merged). The code below worked for a second, until it didn't.

I need to use the Worksheet Change event in a particular sheet in a specified column which works fine if the data is already there in the sheet and then changed however,the data is in this sheet is actually a Sub-Set of a Main sheet i.e certain filtered records are being copied from Main Sheet and then copied to this IBSL Sheet.
After the data is copied I have to check each record manually and then categorize each record as Fresh , Rebooked , Cancelled , Tranch or On-Hold.....These 4 criterias are added in the Column 38 and the same thing has to be repeated in the column 40 , so when i change the data in the column 38 the same category has to be updated in the same row in the column 40..
But the problem is that the data is first copied from the Main Data Sheet into the IBSL Sheet using a Macro so then this even t gets fired and goes in the DEBUG MODE...
I need this to happen when i change the category manually..I am adding data validation at the same time while copying the data in to the TEMP sheet.
So what can be done to achieve..
I want to show which rows of data have been changed by incrementing a revision attribute. For example, if a user changes the contents of a cell anywhere between rows 2 and 13 and col 1 and 9 then the revision attribute in col 10 would increment from 1 to 2 (for the affected row). If another change affects the same row then the rev attribute would increment to 3, and so forth. I don't care which cell was changed only that something on that row was touched.
I thought the CHANGE event was a dead ringer for triggering some VBA code to control this but, since part of the change event code writes the revision value, this triggers another CHANGE event causing an endless loop until something (??) kicks in and stops it after 220 iterations. Is there a way to inhibit the change event just prior to updating the cell containing the version attribute?
Rather than post the code here I have submitted the workbook that includes the whole setup and code. I should also mention I looked at all the other worksheet events and I do not see any "triggers" that would fire each time a cell content is changed. As a side note, is there a way to step into the code of a change event? F8 does nothing.
I'm trying to make a directory whenever the macro runs that includes a timestamp. File names cannot include "/" or special characters, so I'm trying to change the format. However, even though NumberFormat changes it, excel still recognizes the date as having mm/dd/yyyy etc. so the directory cannot be made.

I have the below code that works fine. However I want to use a countif function to update Column I instead of manually having to type in the numbers each time they change. I know it would probably be a Worksheet_Calculate Sub but cannot seem to find one that works. The time stamp would be put into column H and the first row of data is row 3.

for my kind of business we start off with 1 worksheet that has the original plan. We name this sheet "R(0)"
Every time the plan is revised (modified) it is only done by first creating a new worksheet then saving the revisions there. When we create a new worksheet it is automatically named "R(1)" , as in Revision 1.
My request is the following;
i have placed cell number "D86" to reflect the unique date that the sheet is created, so that every time a revision is done when creating a new sheet, the idea is to have this cell automatically update, inorder to reflect the date & time the revision was created. So at the end of the week when you have 5 revisions (5 worksheets), each worksheet will reflect the unique date & time of the revision.
In cell A1, I have the month number (eg, 1, 2, 3,). The month number reflects current month and will automatically change with every month. For example, right now it’s 6, next month it will automatically change to 7. Each two columns in Range A10:X20 represents the data from January to December. I want to use a worksheet event to change the background of the current month two columns in the range to yellow color and the two columns in the range will be visible when I activate this sheet.

Am currently working on an excel sheet that has values in multiple columns and rows. Simple example would be like
Assume two columns , with column One having a dropdown list to select the value ,

I understand that this can be done through pivot table but the issue is when I change the quantity of the item in the source , say reduce pencil by 1 , the same should be reflected in the summation sheet as well automatically .
I have a cell that has a validation list. When i select a value from the list, i want the value of another cell to change automatically but it isnt working. The list source is pointing to another sheet:

I would like to create a macro that will automatically change the name of the sheet any time a value is entered into cell a1. For example, in cell A1 of sheet1 I would input "Hello", and then the tab for sheet1 would be automatically renamed to "Hello".
Here's the twist - the workbook will have multiple sheets, and I want all tabs to reflect the value of a specific cell (a1) in each sheet.

I can sort the list after that easy enough, pulling the color text or the fill color.
Currently I am using a vlookup for 19,000 columns or so. Basically what I am doing is calculating the change in the P&L values from when I ran the file currently to when I ran it previously. I have a macro that pastes the old data to sheet "PL Changes" and then the new data on "PL Detail" All the Vlookup is doing is taking 2 criteria(from A and E and comparing them to a concatenated formula in column A on "PL Changes" then returning the old value in column 5. Is Vlookup the most efficient or is Match() any quicker. Right now it takes almost a minute for it to calculate cells and I was hoping to reduce that time as this data may get longer: ...

I'm working with this code right now. The problem is the macro will only work if i type the numbers manually. if the values are retrieved from a combobox, the code above down not work as it cannot read the values.
I chose to place this in programming, as all the functions for this workbook are either macros or Internet Links. Nothing is ever changed on the worksheet.
I have a workbook that is fully protected with passwords both for the workbook and the worksheet. When I set up the protection, no check boxes are checked.
I have macros and internet links on the worksheet that can be selected, but none of them affect the worksheet.
As a matter of fact, I can open the workbook and close it with only "Application.Quit" in a macro and a message box comes up asking if I want to save the changes or not. If I close it with the upper right corner RED X, it still asks the question.
I have no "On Open Macros" or Links of any kind.

I have this code working fine. It applies conditional formating to two rows ((K3:K65) and (J3:J65)) and checks when a value changes in row B to reaplpy the formatting. I'd like to had add more columns to it. It would have apply the same conditonal formatting on rows ((O3:O65) and (P3:P65)) but when a value changes in row (N3:N65)

Have a query that pulls general ledger data. Named Range SALES defined for Sales Account numbers. What is the best way to always have SALES (which pulls as negative number) converted to absolute values?
I have in my mind that it would be some sort of worksheet change event . . . but I don't really grasp the byval/byref TARGET concept by itself, let alone whether it can work on a named range.
I wish to monitor a change in a certain columns at some worksheets. I have - after having consulted John Walkenbach' fantastic book Excel 2007 Power programming with VBA - understood how I do to monitor a change in specific worksheet, by using the Intersect-function in the change-event on that particular worksheet. That works fine.
My situation is that I have an application that I start out with a certain number of workheets in a workbook, and in the course of the work that the application does, it now and then adds worksheets, and these worksheets I would like to monitor for change in a special column. I know, by looking at the names of the worksheets which ones of those in the collection that I want to check.
I therefore used, not the Worksheet_Change event but the Workbook_SheetChange. It doesn't work quite well. I guess my question for now would be:

I have this code that works fine until I password the sheet and the range (b9:d65536) is protected. When I protect the sheet and make a change I get a debug error. What would I need to add/change to handle protected cells on a protected sheet?
VB: AutoLinked keywords will cause extra spaces before keywords. Extra spacing is NOT transferred when copy/pasting, but IS if the keyword uses "quotes" ....
My problem this time is in regards to auto sorting a table as data is changed in another worksheet and is auto copied within the said table.
I.E. I need the Fax page (second last), the table has to auto sort based on column " C ". This is easily done using custom sort but can it be done automatically ? I want to lock the page so nobody modifies it.

How do I protect a select range of cells from being changed? There may be some formulas in certain cells, which produce data based on other worksheet cells. These cells are not for user data input, but for data output only. I don't want end users to acidently delete the formulas in cetain range of cells, by entering a value in the cell, which then will write over the formula.

Put simply, I need this code to run only when a cell in Range "TValueDeal" is changed. Is making this adjustment as simple as adding a couple lines of code, or is there a better way to write the entire thing?
Is there a way to cause a particular VB function I write to execute any time a value in a particular range of cells is changed?
I thought I had it when I thought I could do a sum formula, range on the cells to be checked, then call the function as a side effect of this sum. It was then that I realized I didn't know how to call VB from within an Excel cell formula.
1. Is there a way to call VB (say, sheet1.myFunction())?
2. Is there a better way to do what I want than to try to hack a side effect into a formula in a cell that depends on a sum (which "watches" for the changes for me.)
The cells would have text in them, not numbers, so using the sum-based formula would be iffy at runtime to me at best. What I really want to do is run a function on the cell value as a string. There are a lot of such cells (thousands) so ideally I would only need one external cell to activate the function (which scans all the cells I am concerned with) rather than have to paste a custom, relative formula into thousands of cells manually to have each one watch one cell, if you know what I mean.
Is it possible to always print out a specific pivot table even if changes/selection and range have changed? What I have right now is a button that prints out the pivot table (assuming the range is not changing). But if a user changes selection the button prints only a part of the pivot table.
