Mar 21, 20071) i have office 2003 on a laptop. within powerpoint, i can create a 'microsoft excel chart 11' object. to create a link to the excel data source, do i have to go through the odbc sql setup? it works, but i don't want my powerpoint to be dependent on some excel file somewhere. what are the other options to insert/make a functional pivot chart in powerpoint with the data also within powerpoint? the data as sheet option does not result in the chart being a pivot, it's just a plain chart. it has to be a proper object, not an image paste or a chart that updates links with the excel file open.
2) i have office 2007 on my other laptop. i can not find any suitable object to choose from to make a pivot chart in powerpoint. what's the best way to go about in 2007 version?
3) am i going about this the wrong way with the objects? should i be after vba code?

Apr 22, 2009I have a sample spreadsheet (uploaded to this thread) in which I have 10 command buttons named 'Video 1' to 'Video 10'. Next to these buttons is a Windows Media Player Object.
I require the code that upon clicking any of the video command buttons, the relevant video is opened and shown in the windows media object within the same sheet (sheet1).
I'm sure the code for each button will be the same apart from the cmd button reference number/name and the link to the file to be played.
If we assume all the videos are called as per their buttons i.e. Video 1.wmv, Video 2.wmv ... Video 10.wmv; and the location of these files is under 'C:Films', can someone post up some code for button 'Video 1' making it clear which variables to change for linking to the different files.
Make The CommandBar Wider Than Is?
Apr 16, 2009I have this code below which creates a CommandBar but my problem is that I thought the line of Code .Width 100 would make the width of the actual CommandBar increase if I adjusted that number, but this doesnt seem to be the case. The title in only shows Nursing Sta instead of Nursing Staff Rota. How can I make the CommandBar wider than is?

But, I'm not trying to disable rightclicking for all commandbars, just one. Is that possible? As far as I can tell, the "shorcutmenus" property is a direct child of application.
Getting Commandbar Control Name Or Index
Jul 3, 2007I've created a CommandBar Menu using Macros. It's not a linear code, I've used Do-While to create the different objects and embedded objects. As you can guess all objects refer to the same Macro. And in this Macro is were I've got the problem. I can't come with a code to get the name of the object or the index reference, and thus I can't create the actions for the different objects in the menu.

Determine If Custom Commandbar Exists
Apr 2, 2008I have programmed an Excel file that removes all the standard commandbars from Excel and then opens a custom commandbar, I built, with limited functionality ( Named "Limited"). When I open this file on another computer, since that custom commandbar does not exist in that copy of Excel no Limited commandbar shows. So I created a macro that builds the custom commandbar when a file is opened. What I want is when the file is opened on subsequent times that it checks to see if that commandbar already exists. If it does, it skips the macro which builds this custom commandbar for the first time. It then disables the standard Excel commandbars (code written already) and enables the "Limited" commandbar (code aleardy written).

I have a macro that calls about three macros in a row, then once it has done those tasks, I want it to show a particular userform using the userform.show statement. However, when it comes to show the userform I get an error saying that it cannot find the specified object? This is quite frustrating and I think I fixed it in another part a while ago, but I can't remember how.

Mar 11, 2008I have a code that runs when I open the workbook. It asks if this is a new quote, if it is it should then open userform1. The problem is that sometimes when I click yes I get a "Path/File access error" popup, and then a VBA error box with "Run-time error '75' Could not find the specified object".
When i debug, it highlights the line "userform1.show"
IF i end, and then run it from within VBA it will then run fine.
Sometimes when I open the workbook it will just crash excel, and when I reopen it, it runs fine.

Compile Error - Can't Find Object Or Library
Nov 6, 2009I am trying to run a macro that i have copied from another workbook (which works fine) and when i try to run the macro i am getting a 'compile error' which says "Can't Find Object or Library" and takes into VB editor which highlights the word "Trim", which is part of a formula. What does this mean? I can't understand why the same macro will work in another workbook but not in this one. Below is the full code, I would have attached the workbook but it would not work for you as it opens and saves files that you would not have. Hopefully someone can understand from the code.

Jun 5, 2007After doing a search, I need to ask an Excel 2003 question. I'm creating a tool to open three sparate workbooks. One is the driver and I need to use it to pull data from the second and then to place that data along with additional data into the third.
My driver data may consist of a single value or multiple values separated by semi-colons in a cell. A single value works fine. The first value in a multi-value condition works fine. the second find, however, gives me an object error. I'm using the " split" verb to separate the values. Here's my code. Have you any idea why the second find is throwing up this error when the first find works correctly?

May 31, 2013I'm running into a couple problems with a Userform I'm creating at work. I have implemented a Search button that searches by the roll number. The problem is that it stops on the first record found. I have some duplicated roll number on my spreadsheet that I would like to be shown when somebody clicks a "Find next" button.

"Object library invalid or contains references to object definitions that could not be found"
I wasn't getting that error last night and I'm not sure what I may have done to cause this error.
It seems to be cause by code running on one sheet of my workbook, but I'm not really sure about that. I'm still a bit of a novice at VBA.
I'm using Excel 2002 SP3 and I'm running MS XP Home as my OS.
Do you have any ideas what can cause this error and/or how to trace down the offending objects/code?
