I have a table that has labels of departments. Then each of those departments will be tracked per week on a number. I am looking for a formula for conditional formatting that if cell C5 is less than B5 that cell C5 (with the smaller number) fills green. Then depending on the next weeks number it will have no fill or a green fill if the number has decreased in cell D5.
Is there anyway that I can do an array of cells or do I have to do it individually per column?
I can get only so far, then stumped:3 columns (Hours, Rate, Amount). "Hours" is a 'List' with data from from another sheet. Data is named 'Worked'. 'Worked' is all 2 decimal numeric (represents total time worked), except first item called "Live In" IF 'Hours' is "Live In", I can use: =IF(A1="Live In", SUM(B1*1))
How can I make it conditional so that if it's not "Live In", then it will SUM(A1*B1)?. SideNote: 'Worked' LIST has total time with minutes expressed as 1/4 of hour (i.e., 1.25 = 1 hour, 15 minutes).
I am creating a billing sheet that has a column where charges are coded (to determine what they are for) and I want a "Grand Total" for everything followed by a breakdown "Total" for things with the same code. Is there a way to set SUM code to grab all numbers next to codes?? (EX. Column A is Billing Code, column B is Cost in $$; I want a total at the bottom that takes the different amounts in column B based on the various information/codes from column A).
I have a worksheet with monthly sales figures by associate and by store. The store has a monthly goal as do the associates. If the store hits it's goal then the overall sales total is multiplied by 1% and then divided by the percentage of each associates involvement to reach that goal. (ie...150,000*1%=1,500, John sold 35,000=23%, so John gets $345 extra commission). If Johns goal was $25,000 and sold $35,000 he gets 1% or $350 commission. In turn, if he meets 1 or both sets of criteria those will be added together. If he doesn't meet either one then the result is Zero.
I have the store goal and Johns goal in separate cells to reference against. The actual sales cell is formula based.
This is basically what i'm trying to do: If criteria 1 is met then % of 1% of store goal, if criteria 2 is met then 1% of individual goal, if both are met result1+result2. if neither is met then zero. I think?
I have a worksheet with property numbers in colum A and first names in column B. Another worksheet has property numbers in A, first names in B, and last names in C (different order, all mixed up)
I want to put a formula in the first worksheet that will compare the property numbers and when it finds a match put the last name from the second worksheet into the first. Does that make any sense? I have tried vlookup but i'm obviously doing something wrong. example below....
# first last 123 x 124 y 125 z
another sheet looks similar but has info in the "last" column. the numbers between the two sheets are not in the same order so i need to search by number and put the info from the second sheet into the first.
I am trying to use a PRODUCT formula to return the product of a list of numbers in a column, between 2 specified dates. The spreadsheet is arranged as follows:
Column BA list of dates Column C & DNumerical data not used in any calculations Column EThe numbers to multiply together Cell A1Start date to be used in the PRODUCTformula Cell A2End date to be used in the PRODUCT formula
The formula I have to multiply the data in column E, subject to the start and end dates in Column A is:
I care about is the line starting wks4.Cells(Di, 2) = I am trying to sum data from a variable length column in worksheet 3 and place the result in column 4 However, when I hit enter after entering the formula into =SUM() I get
Compile Error:

[code] Sub Macro1() Dim wks3 As Worksheet Dim wks4 As Worksheet Set wks3 = Worksheets("Sheet3")
i have 2 columns the first is the transaction number and second column is the description
i want to make that all even transaction number will highlight the whole row... how do i make that with conditional formatting? or are there other alternatives?
I'm designing a spreadsheet for our department which tracks a students progress throughout their time at the school. There are 4 levelsStatementSchool Action PlusSchool ActionMonitorIn year 7, they may come into our school at Monitor level, but when they get to year 8 they may have moved to Action Plus. I want to highlight that change on my spreadsheet with conditional formatting if possible so if they go up, the cell will turn red, if they move down the list the cell will turn green.
I've created two columns on an options sheet (which holds all my data validation lists) and assigned a number to each of the levels so i can conditionally format my columns using < and > but I don't know how to write the lookup formula
I have a sheet that has conditional formatting that looks at column D2 for a number and divides that by half. it then colors in a corresponding cell on a row in the sheet that matches that number. the problem i am having is with odd numbers like 23 it gives a result of 11.5 . all my cell numbers are all rounded to whole numbers. i need to round the 11.5 to 12 or 13 it does not matter which one... i just need it to round it up or down. I have tried everything i can think of but have had no luck. I attached my workbook so you can see how it works.
Which gives me "1" in column "D" (last number in string)
In column "P" I have a number which I want to apply conditional formatting to, to highlight if the numbers in "D" and "P" do not match.
What is happening is that the conditional format is seeing the formula not the number and therefore always applies the condition. How do I correct this.
suppose I have the numbers 1-25 in a column. I want to color the numbers 1,4,7,10,13,16,19,22,25 green, color 2,5,8,11,...25 orange and color 3,6,9,12...25 red. I can not set up the conditional formatting formulas correctly.
I have column A with Different status like Open, closed, available etc. Column B have numbers. i am looking for a formula in condition formatting for column B.
If the cell value in column B is 2 or more, the same cell should be highlighted in Green.
If the cell value in column B is 1, the same cell should be highlighted in Yellow.
If the cell value in column B is 0, the same cell should be highlighted in Amber.
If the cell value in column B is less than 0, the same cell should be highlighted in Red.
If the cell value in column A is "Available", cell in column B should be highlighted in Amber.
I need the conditional formatting to make all numbers that are zero clear (i.e. no fill).
I need it to make all negative numbers to be red, however it doesn't seem to recognize "-1" as a number, and ends up highlight everything red when I say "highlight values < -1 red".
I want to have Excel highlight one or two numbers/cells in one column based on the value in another cell. I am attempting to do this using Conditional Formatting.
For example, if X1 is BETWEEN A2 and A3, I want to highlight A2 AND A3. I have used various AND and IF functions to achieve this goal.
Also, if X1 is EQUAL to A2, I want A2 to be highlighted. This is easy to do with a simple formula.
But my problem is this: if X1 is equal to A2, I want ONLY A2 highlighted. If X1 is between A2 and A3, I want BOTH A2 and A3 highlighted. I cannot figure out how to achieve both. For example, when X1 = A3, A2 AND A3 are being highlighted, instead of just A3. I would prefer to do this without a macro, if possible. Can this be done?
Example formulas I have tried which easily achieve the highlighting of two cells when the value is between them:
It appears that the +IF, etc. functions are not doing anything.
This is more complicated by the fact that the value of, in the above example, I35 is based on a value from another sheet (I used a function to transfer a value from one sheet to I35 in the other sheet). As data are entered on Sheet1, the value in I35 in Sheet2 changes.
What would be the best way to apply conditional formatting where you actually want to apply a background and foreground colour to cells that have many different item numbers, ex:
6201 = Dark blue font, light blue background 6202 = Dark Green font, light green background 6230 = Dark Purple font, light purple background 6245 = ... 6445 = ... 6447 = ... 6448 = ...
and the list goes on for about 200 different colour combinations.
I know I can do this in conditional formatting using the ribbon, but I wonder if there was a faster way to do this
I have been using conditional formatting for a project in Excel 2007 but as the end users are using Excel 2003, I have had to switch to the following VBA solution as my requirements exceed the standard 3 available conditions. I have looked at using custom formatting but I need to format the cell colour rather than just the font colour.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim icolor As Integer If Not Intersect(Target, Range("C19:IV384")) Is Nothing Then Select Case Target Case "0.5", "1", "U" icolor = 38 Case "C", "M", "P" icolor = 40 Case "A", "S", "D" icolor = 36 Case "L", "UP", "C/E" icolor = 35 Case Else 'Whatever End Select Target.Interior.ColorIndex = icolor End If End Sub
* When the macro is run on one worksheet, formatting and values are replicated simultaneously on another identical worksheet (not necessarily vice versa).
* As well as formatting cell colour when containing a value, a border should also be added with different colours for the top, bottom, left and right border.
* When the cell contains no value, the borders should return to how they were previously.
I have a column with product packaging sizes with different syntaxes, such as:
"2 x 5 kg" "200 l (212 kg)" "1000 l (1400 kg)" "5 kg" "20 l (20,54 kg)"
As you can see the syntax varies a lot! Now I need a formula to extract certain numbers for different calculations. E.g. if the string has a letter "x" then the number(s) in front of it would be extracted. Or if the string has the letter "l" or "kg" the numbers in front of them (including decimals) would be extracted while discarding the rest. Is this even possible? Personally, I would change the whole system and break the strings across a number of columns but unfortunately it is not up to me...
i wish to do some conditional formatting. my target for the first 6 months from date activated is 50,000 after 6 months is 100,000. and for those below target, i will need it to be highlighted in red. thus i have 2 sets of conditions.(calculate the no. of months and the revenue).
I have a column of numbers (column A) which I'd like to compare to an adjacent column of numbers (column B) and, by row, determine if the number is larger.
If it is, I'd like to place a different colour on the cell. What is the formula I need to use to accomplish this?
Ex: Col A Col B 30,000 5,000 - A is larger than B, therefore A is formatted RED 20,000 20,000 - A is the same as B, therefore no format applied 10,000 15,000 - A is less than B, therefore A is formatted GREEN
Tracking winning lottery numbers using conditional formating on a worksheet.CF only allows 3 formats I need 10 is there a way around this.In cell B2 I choose Conditional Formatting from the Format menu.I select Formula is from the drop down menu, and enter the formula =COUNTIF($N$2:$S$2,B2)>0 Then I hit OK.I then click on the Painter button on the toolbar and apply this formatting to the rest of the lotto numbers.I can do this 2 other times but i need it to work 10 more times,if there is no way around this, is this formula possible in VBA and how do I enter it.
