Copy Multiple Rows Data To Single Column


transposing and sorting data into multiple columns.

Column 1 for example will have the Parent's Name. Column 2 will have the Children.

If Mark has 3 children, X Y and Z

Jim has two children, A and B

then I want Column 1 to display Mark and Jims Name and column two should display all the children

Here is how I want the data:

Column1 Column 2

Mark X
Mark Y
Mark Z
Jim A
Jim B

I am trying to take data from multiple rows and columns (matrix) and reformat it all to fit in a single column.

It would be great if I could select the cells I want to reformat into the single column as the number of rows and columns containing the original data is not always the same (ie 20x20, 21x35, 56x200) etc...

Split Single Column Into Multiple Columns And Rows
I have 300 rows worth of data that looks similar to this, all organized in one column:

2111 NW 13th St
Anywhereville, USA, 55555

Organizer

As you can see it is consistent with the name, position, address line 1, address line 2, Phone number, for every single entry. All my names are already alphabetized so I don't have to worry about it. What I want to do is have the information for each entry translated into 5 separate columns so it looks like this.

John Q. Smith Programmer 2111 NW 13th St Anywhereville, USA, 55555 (555) 555-5555
Joe P. Small Organizer 5645 NW 45th St Anywhereville, USA, 55555 (555) 555-5555
Patty Williams Accountant 6454 NW 34th St Anywhereville, USA, 55555 (555) 555-5555

Supposing I started the sheet in the top left corner at A1, I was just going to have cell B1=A1 then Cell B2=A6 then just autofill down column B but it doesn't work. I have seen some people do something similar to what I want with VBA but I am convinced there has to be something simple in with an excel formula seeing as my information is already so organized and consistent.

Copy Rows Based On Criteria In Single Column
I have on sheet1 of my workbook a number of rows of data, from column A through Column G. The Data in column G either contains the text "Yes", or "No".

I need a macro that will look through each row in this sheet, and upon finding a "Yes" in the cell in the column G, will copy that entire row (columns A through G) into a new row in sheet2. Sheet2 currently contains data, so I'd like to move everything down by one row and paste this data at the top (row 6 is the first line of data on this sheet).

I'd then like to go back to sheet 1, and delete the row I've just copied. Then continue though the loop. The loop needs to stop when a blank row is discovered.

Consolidate Multiple Rows Of Data Into Single Row
I imagine my goal could be achieved via some scripting code, but, alas, I don't do vbs. Here's the situation:
I have a spreadsheet generated by another office which lists individuals' names and information about participation in various programs. Each line lists name, address, program title and amount. The next line may be the same name, address with a different program and amount. Each person may have 4-5 entries. I want to make single entries for each individual, with colums showing the programs and amounts.
Current:
ID Name Address Program Amount
1 Bob home A 25
1 Bob home B 37
2 Dave home A 22
2 Dave home B 10
2 Dave home C 21

Need:
ID Name Address Program A Program B Program C
1 Bob home 25 37 0
2 Dave home 22 10 21

Hopefully this makes it a bit more clear. The only way I know how to accomplish this is the "old fashioned" long hand approach of cut & paste. There are several thousand individuals, with (currently) tens of thousands of rows.

Organize Data From Multiple Rows Into Single Row
I would like to automate, due to how long it would take to manually organize the data myself. I have all of the raw data needed organized into 3 columns. The problem is that some of the related data is divided up into multiple rows, based on ID number. What I would like to do is take the related CPT codes and respective descriptions, from the same ID number, and place them on the same row. I am going to include some pics and even a small chunk of the source data. Here is a pic of the raw data:

And here is the first 3 already done:

The number of CPT codes per ID number range from 2 - 5 I believe, maybe 6. Not sure if this has any bearing on how it is done.

Copy Data From Multiple Sheets To Single Sheet
trying to copy data from multiple sheets to one single sheet. I am pretty sure this is possible. The problem I am running into is that the number of sheets at any given time is dynamic. The numbering of the sheets is from 000 to 999 (they must be a three-digit code). The other issue I am having is I only want to copy the rows in each sheet that have an "x" in column "A". Also, the row in which the first "x" occurs can differ from sheet to sheet. I have attached a copy of the spreadsheet that indicates how the spreadsheet is layed out.

Copy Data From Single Sheet To Multiple Sheets
I recieve a daily spreadsheet with ~25,000 rows of data and is 4 columns wide. Each day I need to break the data equally up into 19 or 20 different sheets within the same workbook. This is very time consuming as I need to copy the first ~1,000 rows and paste it into the first sheet, then I need to take the next ~1,000 rows and paste it into the second sheet, and so on.

I have attached a small example with desired output. In my example, the raw data file contains 19 records. For these 19 records, I need to distribute the records evenly between 5 individual sheets. In this case, each sheet will contain 4 records or less.

I need in sheet 2 in range A1(only in this range one big text), something like this: a,c,e,g ........ ( row1-col2,row1-col4,row1-col2,row1-col4 ......) ( separated by ","). The number of rows from sheet 1 is variable. The dataf a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h ... is some random text.

Copy Data From Multiple Worksheets & Append To Single Worksheet
I have several exel workbooks (.xls files) and each workbook contains multiple worksheets. The number of worksheets and their names are variable. Each worksheet is formated in the same way. Now I want to copy an specific cell range on each worksheet and copy it into a single worksheet.

For example let assume that we have a a workbook called temperature.xls. This file contains 4 worksheets named: 40-1, 40-3, 40-5#, and 40-22. I want to copy a specific cell range (F46:O47) from all the worksheets in the workbook temperature.xls and paste only the values on a summary worksheet. This summary worksheet can be in the same workbook or in different one. I just wanted to add that I want to repeat this process 15 more times to summarize all my data containing workbooks. On average each workbook contains 35 worksheets so it is a tedious manual process.

Move Data From Single Column To Multiple Columns
I saw this thread from June Cut & Paste Macro: Move Address From Column To Row and I think this what I would like to have my macro do. I have one column which is copied and pasted as text in excel and there is several blank rows.

I attached the spreadsheet example - it has 40 lenders, with the top row being the lender name (A1), followed by address(A2), city-state (A3), two blank rows(A4-A5), lender type (A6), approved date (A7), one blank row (A8), lender specialty (A9), telephone (A10) , e-mail address(A11) and two blanks rows (A12-A13) and A14 starts over again. For this example there should be 8 columns and 40 rows (lender name, address, etc...). As I mentioned I think the previous thread's macro would work with some minor tweaks. I couldn't figure out the best way to handle the blank rows and or remove the blanks and what to add or take out of the macro code.

Single Row Into Multiple Rows
Is there a way convert single cell with wrap text into multiple cells with the number of resulting rows based on the number of lines in the original cell. Due to the restrictions of my overall printable "document", I must use multiple cells of the same height. Any change of row height would throw off the desired final result.

As an example, when I start with my original cell in text wrap and set column width I get something like the following in cell F2:

ASTM A743 UNS J93254
(SUPER AUSTENITIC)
(LONG LEAD TIME
MATERIAL)

This looks great, but it is all in one cell, and the four lines of wrapped text have obviously increased the row height which is bad.

I have tried using the LEFT and MID functions to force the text into different rows based on character length, but this is sort of messy since I am never sure what the input will be resulting in something like the following (this time in cells F2:F5) with spaces at the beginning of a line or breaks in the middle of words:

ASTM A743 UNS J93254
(SUPER AUSTENITIC)
(LONG LEAD TIME MATE
RIAL)

My ultimate goal would be to somehow format the original input data text so that regardless of the input, the text would be restricted to a certain column width, sending the remaining text to the next consecutive rows down, and maintain the integrity of the original. I can have as many intermediate cells, formatting as I go to get to this point.

Of course, I could manually enter the text in the different rows every time, but it would be nice to have a succession of formatted cells so that the desired end result would be automatic. Hopefully, the answer does not involve too much in the way of macro or any VBA code since I am a pitiful novice, and we are sort of under pressure to get this project under way.

Merge Column Data Over Multiple Rows
I know how to merge data in a CSV (see attachment) from 2 columns into a single cell using =A1&" | "&B2 so that A1 (Safety Products) plus B1 (Fire Protection) becomes Safety Products | Fire Protection in cell C1, but how can I do this across multiple rows so that each pair of names is combined in each row? The job I'm working with is a product CSV file that has 6370 lines so I don't want to do them one line at a time!

Multiple Date Column To Single Column & Sort
I'm looking for a way to sort dates from several columns into a new single column (perhaps multiple columns if the entry columns become too numerous). I've included an example. There are currently only 4 columns, but there may be as many as 20 in the future, each with 20 dates under each heading. Any blank cells would be eliminated. If I filled a blank with a new date, that date would be placed into the chronological column. So basically, this would take the date from several different categories and create a single calendar of events.

I found this treat but it didn't help me as i hoped. Move Data From One Column To Multiple Columns. I try to convert multiple datablocks to a new worksheet and make the adress blocks ready for further sorting and removing actions. The Excel I use is Dutch and i hope that i make my question clear. What I want:

copy each adressblock to another worksheet, put the initals as well as the beginning in a seperate column and delete the unnecessary comma's. Each adressblock is identified by a number in colom A. When a new number is shown, excel has to start a new line to fill. finally,if possible i like to extract the adress line into seperate colums of "street+numer", zip and place. Some adresblock have more than onder adres, if possible i want excel to ad these information in the 'extra' colums.

Convert Multiple Columns To Single Rows
I have a very large sheet of all US zip codes by county name. Unfortunately, the document builder decided to list up to EIGHTEEN columns of zip codes per county name... I assume to make it easier to look at.

I now need to rebuild the sheet to have one column of county names and *one* column of zip codes, which will be a nearly impossible task if I don't find a way to automate the conversion.

Attached is a sample... sheet 1 is my initial state (except here its 5 columns rather than 18), and sheet 2 is my hoped for end state. Notice that the zip codes can, but don't always, fill every column allotted.

Find & Copy Multiple Results Into Single Cell
I have a macro which scans column "AV" in Sheet1 and if a particular value is found it will copy certain cells from that row and paste them into Sheet2 on Row 10 starting with column "E".

With the current code I only paste a single instance, if the value is found more than once I only have the last one pasted. How can I best set this up so it will paste ALL found value results within Row 10?

The four copied results do not have to be in separate cells, it is actually best if the cells are combined. On Sheet2, cells E10-H10 can also be setup to have the data pasted across all four cells and that way Row Height AutoFit would take care of expanding the row's height to accommodate the possibly of having four or five sets of results being combined together and pasted into E10.

Rather than the typical result appearing as:

It is better for me if the data appears like this:

Is this even possible using a macro? It is currently being done using a Word document but I am wanting to automate the process and try to handle all the data sorting within Excel, if possible.

How can you move data from multiple columns into a single column? I have attached a short example of the data I receive. (In reality, the data could be hundreds of columns and/or hundreds of rows, but this is representative of what I might receive). It does not need to be sorted and including the header row in its own column is optional. Distribute Data In Single Sheet To Multiple Sheets
The worksheet is formatted as follows: It contains data in columns A-L. I want to breakdown the data further into sheets according to the data that is found in column G. As an example, say I have 1,000 rows of data and in column G there are a number of different branch numbers in each row. So there may be 250 rows with branch 450, another 250 rows with branch 360, another 200 rows with branch 777, and finally 200 rows with branch 888. In this case I want to create 4 new sheets (450, 360, 777, and 888) and copy only the data in the main sheet that corresponds to same branch.

Actions would be as follows:
copy 250 rows to tab "450"
copy 250 rows to tab "360"
copy 200 rows to tab "777"
copy 300 rows to tab "888"

Any comments are much appreciate. I have attached a data sample along with desired output, if needed. One note: the data comes in each day as one single sheet of data and the number of branches varies day-to-day, as such, code would need to create new sheets for each branch found.

I have a Dynamic Named Range "Data" spanning 10 Columns and many Rows.
Each Row may contain duplicates of the Numeric Criterion.

I would like to find ALL instances of a specific Numeric Criterion across
each single Row in the Dynamic Range "Data" and have the Results returned to
a New Sheet in a single column.

NEW Sheet:
The Numeric Criterion is housed in G5.
The matched criterion should be returned to the New Sheet starting at G7.
Duplicate instances in the same Row should ALL be returned to the same cell
in Column G on the New Sheet.

returned to the same cell G7.

Importing Data From Multiple Word Forms Into A Single Spreadsheet With Vba
I would like to use a vba procedure/procedures to achieve the following:
I have a folder with many Word2003 forms in and I want to save just the data from each form and then import the data into an Excel spreadsheet.

Currently I am opening each .doc file in turn, saving just the data to a new plain text (comma separated file) in a different folder and am unable code searching that folder for all the text files and importing them into the spreadsheet.
I have a two part question to my current approach:

1) I am 99% there with the first part (opening and converting the forms) with the following code having followed advice from another thread but I need Word open and not showing an open document. Is it possible to add code to take care of opening Word in the background and close it again after so the process is fully automated?:

Simultaneously Copying Data From Multiple Sheets To A Single Sheet
I have a workbook containing about 20 sheets. I need to find a way of pasting all the numbers in the A column in each sheet (sheets 1-20) to the last sheet so I get a great big list of all the numbers in the 20 sheets. How would I go about doing this?

Right now I'm cutting and pasting from sheet 1 to my last sheet, then from sheet 2 to my last sheet, then from sheet 3 to my last sheet... Is there a quicker way? The ranges in each of the sheets start at A2 and go down a few cells. Sheet 4 might have 4 numbers in the A column, sheet 12 might have 47, sheet 17 might have 8 and so on.

How would I go about getting all the A columns in the sheets to the last sheet?

I'll throw up a few screenshots if the problem is unclear

Code To Copy Data From Dif.cells In A Sheet To A Single Row In Another Workbook
I have a workbook ("CaTr") Sheet1 has data ranging ("B2:I41").

There are about 30 cells values (scattered) which needs to be copied in a workbook "CA_Log" in one single next available row .

Combining And Rearranging Data Records From Multiple Worksheets To A Single Worksheet
I have a set of related variables that are split over multiple worksheets, and I need to be able to take specific information, duplicate certain values and produce an output sheet for use in a separate piece of software.

The variables are:
Position Number (Sheet 1)
Position Title (Sheets 1 and 2)
Position Requirement (Sheet 2)
Requirement Importance (Sheet 2)

The output sheet requires a list of all the requirements for each position number, which means the position number itself needs duplicating (in new rows) X number of times, where X is the number of requirements assigned. The appropriate requirements are then to be pasted in next to each position number (and the requirements can be found by comparing position number to title, and from title to requirements).

Normally, Iíd be able to do this using lookups and so forth, but my problem arises when I have multiple position numbers with the same related title (in the attached example, there are three plumbers with unique position numbers). I canít figure out how to say to Excel ďa plumber has five requirements, and there are three plumbers, so duplicate each position number for each plumber five times, then insert the appropriate qualifications (and their associated importance values) next to the position numbersĒ.

Copy Rows Meeting Multiple Criteria On Multiple Columns
1. Copy data from original file (I do not want to do anything in the original file) into the spreadsheet (Target worksheet)where the code should run.
2. In sheet 1 of Target Worksheet, there are 2 columns which I need to set criterias on namely Column D and Column L

VBA To Duplicate Template Worksheet And Populate With Successive Data From Single Column
I've created a single worksheet that is essentially a "dashboard" type of report that displays data for a single employee/person. This worksheet (let's assume it's my "template") contains formulae that is driven by a single lookup cell (in this case, the employee's ID, in cell, for example, A1).

This "dashboard" report (for just one individual) needs to be duplicated for the entire employee population (let's say ~100 people); this employee population is stored as a list in a separate worksheet, in a single column.

Is there a vba solution that will copy my template and populate the cell A1 (of each duplicated template worksheet) with the the employee IDs - of course, it would be ideal if the solution can search in my employee ID list and continue down until there are no more IDs and create the same number of worksheets as there are IDs?

Because the macro is creating numerous worksheets, is it possible to name the worksheets based off of an adjacent value (in the same sheet as the IDs) to each respective ID (I'm thinking of a concatenation of the employees' IDs and names)?

One major wrinkle in this process: the above process would be ideal if the "template" worksheet won't change (i.e. no changes to formatting, no additional data elements, etc.) However, it's likely that the client will want to add/remove/change items/elements to the "template" dashboard. Assuming, at this point, all 100 worksheets for each individual/employee have been created, it would be a huge pain to manually add/remove elements from each sheet. Is there another macro that would delete ALL employee sheets? That way, I can re-modify my single template and just run the original macro to re-create my duplicate sheets (but populated with different IDs) again.

Copy Single Call Value From Multiple Workbook To Master Workbook
I have multiple workbooks ( with unique names) under same folder. Each workbook has "Report-Corn" sheet.

I would like to copy cell "P15" from each (workbook-> report-corn -> P15) and paste to Master.xls workbook -> Sheet 1 one after another which is also located under same folder.

Copy Multiple Rows Below Each Other
I am looking to copy a long list of rows (about 400) with each row having a duplicate of itself right below it. i.e.

Row 1 abcd
Row 2 1234
Row 3 efgh

After copying I want it to appear:

Row 1 abcd
Row 2 abcd
Row 3 1234
Row 4 1234
Row 5 efgh
Row 6 efgh

Copy Formulas From First Row To Multiple Rows With Some Changes
I have 100 excel file in a folder such as File1, File2, File3, File4 etc.There are some figures and reports on these files. format of all the excel files are same except values. And I have a master file.

As is:
On my Master file, I have n number of formulas in Row 10,which gets data from the above excel files.
eg. Master file Sheet1 Row 10,
I have formula like this from Column B
='[File1.xls]Sheet1'!$A$1 [File1.xls]Sheet1'!$D$1, ='[File 1.xls]Sheet1'!$A$1 [File 1.xls]Sheet1'!$M$1 etc.

In Row 11,

='[File2.xls]Sheet1'!$A$1 [File2.xls]Sheet1'!$D$1, ='[File2.xls]Sheet1'!$A$1 [File2.xls]Sheet1'!$M$1 etc.
If there are 1 or two files then I can type manually in each rows, But I have more than 100 files. So i need a macro which copies the formula from Row 10 to rest of the rows, If there are 100 files with different names in the folder, the formulas have to be copied to 100 rows in the master sheet.

if the file name changes on the formulas I will get the data correctly.

Copy Multiple Rows To Different Sheet
In the attached wb I have 4 sheets. The macro selects a row then copies it to specified location. This works great. What I would now like it to do is match data in (MonthStats) column b then copy those rows to specified location. eg All rows containing AAA would be selected then copied to sheet AAA. I have searched various threads but without success
