Count Formula, Lookup Or May Sumif?

I need to add the total of staffs hours worked for one day, but the problem is that I don't recieve the data as hours but as symbols(letters of the alphabet) representing time worked. Eg "A" is 3.5 hours, "B" is 4hours "C" is 4.5 hours ect, ect.

In the example the top table is a one month time sheet for each staff and there working shifts. The bottom table is the part that I need a formula for. I need a total for each symbol for each day so I can total the hours at the bottom where it says total hours. I have given an example on how the bottom table should look when the formula is completed.

How can I get a vertical lookup or sumIF formula to check multiple tabs for a given value?

Or - is there a way to specify the tab? For instance, put "Tab A" or "Tab B" in Cell A1, and have the lookup formula reference the value of Cell A1.

Having trouble getting a formula to work that will lookup a site number and count the number of times the site has a particular type of visit. For instance:

Site # Visit
1001 Active
1001 Active
1001 Discont.
1001 Screen Fail
1001 Active
1002 Discont.
1002 Active
1002 Screen Fail
1002 Active

I want a formula that will return the number of active instances for each site, like:

Site # # of Active Visits

1002 2

Formula- To Pull Cell Values Similar To A SUMIF Function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range))

I am trying to pull cell values similar to a SUMIF function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range)). For example, in A1 I use a data list created from data elsewhere on the spreadsheet. In the data I created elsewhere, there are 2 columns being used. The 1st column is the information that is being used to create the list and the second column contains specific values (number or text). In the dropdown menu I select an available value (text or number) . When I have selected that value I would like cell A2 to show what the cell directly to the right of it shows from the data I have elsewhere in the spreadsheet as mentioned. I have tried the SUMIF function however it seems to exclude certain values (number or text) and I am not sure what else to use.

Sumif / Lookup For A Value And Sum

Column A has employee Numbers . ( May repeat , not necessarily specific no.of times )

Column B has date of Joining

Column C has effective date ( There is certain amount to be paid to that employee , from that date until it is revised to a new value )

Column D to - Column H has Months .(Jan-2013 to Jun 2013 ) with the amount to be paid as stated above.

What is the total amount to be paid for an employee considering the updated values .

As shown in the excel , coloured cells are to be summed up for an employee (ex:- Emp.No 1 , Emp. No 2 )

Lookup/Sumif/Average

I have data columns A-C

example:

Material Year/MonthHeight in cm
1000000006200902114.00
1000000006200902120.00
1000000006200902110.00
1000000007200903107.00
1000000008200901115.00
1000000008200901111.00
1000000008200903117.00

and over about 1000 rows.
On sheet 2, i have list of material numbers (about 60 in total)
what i need is a formula that will lookup each material number in the long list
and give me the average height for a particular month.

i.e. in example material 1000000006 average for period 200902
= (114+120+110)/3 =114.67
so i'd end up with on sheet 2 columns A-F
with headings below with relevant formula for each month.

I have a block of data spread across 5 columns (A-E)

Data in column A is unique to each row . Data in Column B is a name (text) that repeats occasionally, C, D, & E are numbers.

I would like some formula or macro that will detect duplicates in column B and sum the corresponding data (in columns C,D,E). I am not sure how to work the sumif function (assuming that is what will work in this case).

Now the tricky part is that I want the count of how many times names in column B occured to appear in column F.

Basically I would a new block of data with B,C,D,E and F as an output.

Im trying to return the number value of how many contracts have been signed in a particular month. So in my example I want to look pick out say "IM" and check to see how many of those types have been signed in say "Jan-09" and return that as a number. Keyword Lookup And Count?

I'm trying to extract the number of times specific keywords are used in Sheet1 and display that number on Sheet2.

For example:

Keywords to be used
ni = not interested
appt = appointment
na = not available

If ni is used 10 times, appt is uesd 2 times and na used 6 times.

I want to be able to see those numbers on Sheet2 next to the keywords.

Lookup Formula With Two Lookup Values

I have 3 Sheets named Paid, Rejected, and Reprocessed.

On the Paid and Rejected sheets I have 2 fields Customer # (Column A), and Amount (Column Q). (The customer # field has many duplicates but the amounts are never duplicates)

On the Reprocessed sheet I have all the rejected items (all fields) and also a field named Reprocessed. I need to use a formula that will check the Paid sheet for any items that have the same Customer # and Amount and return the amount

There are 8,216 rejected items and 45,047 paid items. Some items were originally rejected have been reprocessed and show under paid.

Any thoughts on which formula I should use?

Formula That Adds Count But Saves Count So Can Clear Field

I want is a field (e.g Large Parts Used) where I can enter in a number, then basically this number is subtracted from current stock field for Large Parts so I get an updated field of current stock on hand.

But what I want to do is once I've entered the number in the Large Parts used field, I can then clear that field but have the corresponding Current stock field to maintain what was last enetered.

E.g

Large Parts Current Stock = 50

(enter in) Large Parts Used = 2

Large Parts Current Stock = 48

(Clear field where 2 was entered into Large Parts used)
(Field still stays at Large Parts Current Stock = 48 although field where 2 was entered was cleared, so need it to save the information so can continually clear and re-enter amounts and have the stock continue to reduce)

going down are stores a, b, c, d.... what i'm filing in across is the square feet of each store and what quartr or year each store came into place. so there will either be a 0 or a number Now, I want to be able to count the number of nhew stores each quarter. how do i create a formula that just recognizes it the first time there is a number and not a zero... because i will put the square feet in subsequent quarters after it opens so i can see yearly how many square feet the store had. then also, how can create a button on the page that will say quarterly numbers and a button that is annual. so that i can hide the quarterly columns and just see an annual spreadsheet... and for the quarterly button so i can hide the annuals and just see the quarters....

DSUM Formula Instead SUMIF Formula

I come across a spreadsheet that is using DSUM formula, I did not understand why someone used DSUM instead of SUMIF formula, because using DSUM formula they had to use two extra cells for criteria, as seen in this example.
I like to know is there any advantage of using DSUM instead of SUMIF in this example.
The formule they used is =DSUM(J109:K113,2,$M$2:$M$3)
and the criteria is G,D
so they are adding all Debits in that column.
I changed the formula to =SUMIF($J$110:$J$113,"D",$K$110:$K$113)
that of course does not need $M$2:$M$3 range criteria.

In my workbook I have multiple sheets but I'm attaching a very simple workbook to demonstrate what I'm trying to accomplish. In my "Lookup" tab/sheet. I want to have known Latitude and Longitude data that will exist in columns A&B. Columns C & D will have address numbers and Street Name. I would like my lookup formula to find the longitude and latitude data from my "lookup" sheet, when the matching address information is typed in, in my 2009 sheet. I have to keep the street numerics and street name separate on this worksheet as well. I believe I'll need two separate lookup formulas as I need these formulas to start in cell G4 & H4 in my "GeoCoding1" sheet. Is it possible to have four columns of data to be viewed in a lookup formula? I tried this formula in cell G4 (GeoCoding1 sheet)

Tweaking A SUMIF Formula

The following formula finds the lowest five values in row 6 from column H to W. However if there are less than five values in the row the formula returns 0. I need to tweak it to return the smallest 5 values weather there is one or a full row of 16. Also if there are any of the same values I still want only the five lowest.

The below formula is giving the desired result and everything seems fine. Need if there is an alternative formula which can give same result in more refined and simplified manner. =K28+SUMIF($E$3:$E$24,$E$7,$D$3:$D$24)/(K23)-SUMIF($B$3:$B$24,$B$8,$D$3:$D$24)/(K23). The formula is based on the following data:

K28 = Last month balance
Column E = Type of expenditure
Column D = Values
Column B = Payments
K23 = Currency conversion rate
