I wish to count the number of cells in col A that are greater than a defined value in col B.
I have two columns of data in col A and col B
I wish to count the number of cells in col A that are greater than a defined value in col B.
I'm trying to count all cells in a row after the last number that was greater than 0. See my example spreadsheet. I have put the answers that it should be in to show what I'm after.

How do I count the number of cells that have a value greater than 0 in a range of cells?

I'm trying to create a formula (in Sheet 1) that will return the most recent number of cells containing a value (i.e. not empty) in Sheet 2 Range AD2:A367 greater than zero.
I've tried using COUNTIF but that only adds the individual values, it doesn't 'start from zero again' when a zero value appears.
Sheet 2 contains the following:
Column AH2:AH367 represents the current year and contains values from Jan 1 to Dec 31 inclusive, some of which are zero and future values are blank.
Column AG2:AG367 represents last year and contains the same and all cells have a value (some are zero).
The date column is A2:A367 (the columns in between are all the years prior to 2013).
I need a formula that counts the total number of cells with a value greater than zero for the range AG2:AG367 up to and including today's date to be returned in cell A1 of Sheet 1.
Is there an equation to count numbers greater than zero without adding an additional column?
I had a COUNTIF equation but realized that the criteria that I used to use required an additional column. The additional column I used to have would be something along the lines of =IF(A1>0, "x", "") and then count the X's. I was just wondering if there was another equation that could reduce that step.
I have a range of dates B1:B100 which I want to compare to a certain date A1 and see how many are greater than my stated date A1.
I've tried with countif(B1:B100, "=>A1") which I thought would work, but it gives the error Value!
How do I do this?
I have spreadsheet with different 100s of columns of dates with 600 rows. The first row identifies which zone the data belongs to (North, South, East, West. NE, SW, SW1, etc...)
I want to write a formula to check how many dates in each column fall in 2015 or later years; This can be accomplished by writing a countifs formula.
Where it gets complicated is once i filter on the Zones;
I want the formula to give me the desired result - count of all CELLS where the year is 2015 or greater - WITH FILTERS ON.
I stumbled upon following sumproduct formula that gives count for visible cells, however when i apply the date criteria, i get incorrect result -
=SUMPRODUCT(SUBTOTAL(3,OFFSET(IJ3:IJ999,ROW(IJ3:IJ999)-MIN(ROW(IJ1:IJ999)),,1))*(IJ3:IJ999>DATE(2014,12,31)))
How do I count cells with numbers 1 and greater. My cells are counting the -. All my cells are showing the - (zero value) but are being counted.

View 2 Replies View RelatedCurrently, I am using countifs to count data within a specific range if it meets a criteria. Now I want to add to the formula. I need to count the cells within the specific range meeting the existing criteria I already have but only if one cell is greater than another cell.
This is what I currently have: =COUNTIFS(Report!$F$4:$F$1048576,">=8/1/2013",Report!$F$4:$F$1048576,"=8/1/2013",Report!$F$4:$F$1048576,"
I am trying to have a cell in sheet "Summary" count the number of cells in column DX of sheet "Analyses" that are greater than 0, provided that the value in column A of "Analyses" corresponds with the value in B8 of sheet "Summary."
(In "Analyses," there are 106 subjects, each taking up 64 rows. So, columns 1-64 correspond to Subject 1, columns 65-128 correspond to subject 2, etc. In column DX, each subject has 64 values that are either 0 or greater than 0. In "Summary," each subject has one row that summarizes the 64 trials. I want a single cell in the "Summary," sheet to reflect the number of times each subject produces a value greater than 0 in column DX of "Analyses.") I tried using this formula, but it did not work correctly:
=COUNTIF(IF(Analyses!$A$1:$A$10000=Summary!B8,Analyses!$DX$1:$DX$10000,""),">0")
(Summary!B8 = 1, so I am trying to calculate the number of values in DX that are greater than 0 only for subject 1.) When I press enter, this yields a value of 384. This is impossible, given that subject 1 only has 64 possibilities of yielding a value greater than 0. Subject 1 has 2 values in column DX that are greater than 0. I tried making this an array formula by pressing Shift+Ctrl+Enter, and that just gives me a #VALUE! error.
I am using cell V7 to input the formula but I want cell V7 to tell me if the number in U7 is greater than or equal to the individual #'s in cells U7-U40 and I would like it to put a 1,2,3 in the cells of V7-V40 for the three highest numbers in order of largest to smallest if is this possible?

Some but not all of the cells in col D begin with a prefix of "Category:" without the quotes, followed by a word or words following the word "Category:" See examples below. All of the terms prefixed with "Category:" in col D are in alphabetical order. I need to count the number of identical cells in col D with the "Category:" prefix.
Examples of the contents of cells in col D with the "Category:" prefix are as follows:
Category: Adversity
Category: Answers
Category: Assurance
Category: Blessings
Category: Build
Category: Change
Category: Children
Category: Choices
Cells above and below cells with a prefix of "Category:" in col D are not adjacent.Cells above and below cells with a prefix of "Category:" in col D are separated by 3 to an undermined number of rows.
I need to count the number of equal cells in col D and insert the count in col A at the last equal term. For example, col A above would have 93, 1, 1, 5, 10, 8, 3, and 12 inserted into col A.
formula that would count the instances in Column C, where Column A contains "LH" or "RH" as part of the word, and column B equals "Either".
View 5 Replies View RelatedCreate some sort of formula combination or macro that will: Recognise a cell with a value of 1, 2 or 3 in. If 3 is in the cell, the cell to its left will be counted and added to a total. If the cell that has 3 in changes the value is removed from the total. Ive tried lots of methods but i cant figure this one out!

However, if there is a formula at the bottom of column B and C that yield a "", the formula breaks.

In my spreadsheet, I have a column for credit card totals (G) and cash totals (J)
I am adding the amounts for Food (Column B), Liquor (Column C), Wine (Column D), Beer (Column E), and Taxes ( Column F) for a total in Column G.
However, Column G is only for credit card totals and I want to do the same calculations for cash totals (Column J) using the same B through F Column without those numbers being plugged back into Column G, when I have no credit card total.
I'm trying to develop a new daily timesheet for my production workers, where non-production items are recorded in 15 minute intervals. The user would put in "Clock in" by the corresponding time, and the same for "Clock out" at the end of the day. Any non-production items will be type in next to their appropriate time. Since clock in and clock out times will vary, I need to set up a formula that searches the array of cells for the day, finds the "Clock in" and "Clock out" values, and counts any blank cells in between them. Basically the blank cells will equal production time, and the result of the Count function will be multiplied by 0.25 to get the hours.
I am having a very difficult time finding a way to set the "Clock in" and "Clock out" cells as the range for the Count function, because it won't always be the same cells. What would be the best way to automatically have excel find the cells containing these values and set them as the range criteria for a Count function?
The formula at the bottom was one of my initial attempts, but it didn't work. I took out the '=' for the screenshot, so that wasn't the problem.
Getting a formula or macro that count the number of blank cells between 2 cells with data (numbers) in 1 column. E.g.
1
Blank
Blank
2
Blank
Blank
Blank
3
...
In this case the blanks between 1 and 2, between 2 and 3 to be displayed in an adjacent column.
I want to do is count in a column numbers greater than 13 but less than 20.
I am also trying to write another formula that counts numbers equal to or higher than 1 but less than 12. In other words,
I do not want this count to include any cells that contain 0.
i need a formula to count the number of cells in a column that HAVE a specific value (for example 1123). I tried the COUNT and COUNTIF function but it counts all the cell that CONTAIN the number 1123, i just need the cells that are EQUAL to 1123.

I receive spreadsheets which tell me where samples are located in 96 well plates. The plates' rows are lettered A-H, and the columns are numbered 1-12. So, for example, the first well is labeled A1, the 12th is A12, the 13th is B1, and the 96th is labeled H12.
When I receive the spreadsheets, there are cells that tell me which wells are occupied. For example a cell will contain "A2 - B7" or "D3-F12" (sometimes with the spaces before and after the "-", and sometimes not." I need a program that will tell me that "A2-B7" (or "A2 - B7") means there are 18 wells occupied.
I've tried a few things, but a lot of problems arise when I try to do anything with names like "A1" because excel already defines "A1" as cell A1. Do you guys have any ideas? Am I being clear?
