How does one count the number of x and y values (occurring in same row) in this array?

Note all of the variables above are positive numbers.
I need a formula that compares 2 databases and returns a count if both values or within the specific range.
Column A is titles Column B is values The first database is simple the range is

My friend and I have created a Wallyball league (volleyball played on a squash court). Every week we have more and more players and making the teams is more and more complicated and time consuming. I created this Excel file to try and generate random teams faster.

The file consist of :Jersey no. and player (A and B)rating if playing (C)rating (D)playing on a given day 0 or 1 (E)wallyball courts to generate random teams with a team rating and differential rating.
The only thing it needs is a non-repeating function (as of now, one player can be selected many times)
Also, the players should not be selected if they are not playing on a given day (column E = 0)
I have to do this WITHOUT using macro (1. I'm not familiar with macros ; 2. I have a free starter version of Excel, I don't think macros are enabled).

I need a formula that will count the number of unique values in column A that have "Criteria" in column B. In this case the desired output would be 5 (A, C, D, 2, and 3), a blank cell in column A does not need to be counted.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a yearly running log (attached). At the bottom in cell [B88] I would like to develop a formula that gives me the number of times I ran in that specific month. Dates are in Column A and running distances are in Column B. If a distance is zero, I don't want to count it. I have attempted to solve this using the =COUNTIFS formula, but I am not able to structure it properly. Maybe =COUNTIFS is not what I should be using.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am, and have been using several sum- and count-ifs formulas for a time, but when the new year rolled around, decided to improve some of the sheet.
That all being said, the issue started after this. A specific set of my count and sum if functions started returning error values.
I analysed them, they seemed fine, and then selected them and hit enter. Problem over in that cell, as suddenly the correct value is returned.
But that's just it, I know the formulas are correct and working, as, if I select and hit enter on them individually, they return the right value. However, every time I close the sheet and re-open, all the values are showing error again.
I am perplexed. Did I inadvertently change a setting somewhere when I rebuilt the worksheet that is preventing the formulas from resolving correctly? As, like I said before, the formulas are fine, the data they are resolving, is fine. Just does not seem to calculate when I open the sheet.
I am in desperate need of a function that will count a column of data where there are blanks and values based on a certain date that will also capture any data that is added after refreshing the table from Access. I have tried several functions but this is what I have: =(ROWS('TouchBack Detail'!$Q:$Q)*COLUMNS('TouchBack Detail'!$Q:$Q))+(COUNTIFS('TouchBack Detail'!$B:$B,'Nov TouchBack Summary'!B$1)). The result should be 3 but it’s including all other cells in the column that are not and should not be included in the refreshed table’s data (Table_TouchBack.accdb). I have attached the spreadsheet for review. The function is in cell B27 highlighted in yellow.

I want to keep statistics of roulette.
More specifically, i want to count how many times a dozen lates to come.
The range from 1-12 is 1st dozen, from 13-24 is the 2nd and 25-36 is the 3rd.
I want to count among these numbers, how many times one of three dozens appear every 1 time, how many times appears every 2 times, .... until 20 times.
For example: I have put in a column 500 numbers from 0 to 36.
The output must be like this:
1st Dozen: Every 1 time: x
Every 2 times: n
Every 20 times: m
The same for 2nd and 3rd dozen.
Any way/method to make a certain number of cells randomly generate to a specific value you want? I only want to use the number from 1 to 60.

Sample comments in cell 'N1':
..... blah, Appt: Friday; 12/4; night drop off. blah, blah....
Sample comments in cell 'N2' (and so on and so on):
.....blah, blah, Appt: Thurs; 12/3; 12:30PM. blah, ....
The specific string in the above examples will always begin with:
APPT:
Then the key elements found directly after the 'APPT:' are:
Thurs; 12/3; 12:30PM.

DAY; DATE; TIME.
These elements will be always separated by the semi-colon ';' and the string will always end with the period '.'
I need a pair of formulas to be in col 'J' & 'K' to extract the DATE and place it in column 'J' and the TIME and place in column 'K', both in each same rows.
So, from the 2 above samples I would need the following:

Is there a way I could get this done automatically? I know the basics of Excel and this has been a dilemma lately. I have several databases to work in this fashion and I do believe that there must be a way to solve this in excel so that it fills automatically.

If I wanted to filter the list so I only had codes that had Z, N, H in it. How do I do that??
I need a way to find a value in a column which has one or more corresponding values in an adjacent column. Then take all of the corresponding values found and count all occurrences of the found values in another column. But I only want to count the entries if an adjacent column is not blank.
Not the easiest thing to describe. Starting to wonder if I need to think in reverse. I hope the attached example makes more sense.

I have been putting together a database of town owned properties. I have about 190 rows with well over 20 columns. Sometimes I need to sort the data in order to find something. However sometimes after sorting the data and not thinking of anything of it, I will open up the file later that day or the next day and I find that most of, or sections of my data are all jumbled up. I then have to re-enter the data to get it to where it should be. I am using Excel 2003.
I have built a Userform that is for a Liquor Inventory. I would like to scan each bottle's UPC Code and pull it from a range list that is set up in (Combobox "UpcBarCodeBox"). That information is stored on a sheet "Liquor & Wine Inventory" in Column "A" (Unsorted). Column "B" is the name of the liquor which is also the column that everything is sorted in alphabetical order. What I would like to do is populate several textbox's that I have set up so that I can input missing data or data that needs to be updated. The problem is I would LOVE to keep the list sorted by Liquor Names (Column "B") and not by UPC Bar Codes (Column "A"). From my research I have found that Index and Match might be the way to go but I can't seem to get it to work right. Since I am still learning VBA, Some things still escape my grasp.

What I was doing originially in my userform was allowing form the user to input the starting time (without having to know the exact time) example 22:00. This works but the problem is when they enter the approximate end time 3:00. Without sorting the data how do I get the ending time to match the approximate time if the time doesn't exist in the data. I was using the Match function and the defined data range with 1 (i.e. Match(value, range, 0)). This works for the starting time but not the stop time since the data is not in ascending order.
The situation requires some context. I have a spreadsheet that is pulling data in from another location. It is simply a 'Location!A1' link - the source data updates daily as it is a Business Objects report that I dump out and I want to then bring that info into another spreadsheet.
My challenge is attempting to order the data as it comes in without having to manually sort the Business Objects report everyday. Because the link to the BO report is simply a cell look up, I have to take the data as it comes.
I've tried the rank formula according to a price (as this is what it needs to be ranked by) but because some products are the same price as each other, it simply doubles up (so if there's two products at $10, it ranks them both the same e.g. 4). Once I get the right rank, I can then vlookup the right order in a way I can then reference properly. EXAMPLE 180814.xlsx
I am wondering if it is possible to search a column full of assorted values which is unsorted, and then return the closest value.
I have written a previous thread which was similar, but misleading, i feel this thread is more to the point.
Currently i use this code, but it only finds the closest highest value if the data is sorted in ascending order.
Small Spreadsheet attached, using lookup gives the correct result for most but noat all initials entered? I do not get the correct result when I enter "JB" in the grey cell. Result (red cell) should be "John Burch".

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a two dimensional database from which I need to pull information based on multiple listbox values (these listboxes are located in a userform). The user selects one or more cars and then chooses from various parameters for that car. The output has to show the results - for example, if Jeep Cherokee and mpg are chosen, the output will be 23 mpg. I need to be able to do this for multiple cars and multiple parameters.
I need for the outputs to be located in a worksheet. I already have the code for setting up the list of cars and parameters selected (this gives me a row and column header), but now I need to be able to cross reference this information to pull the output from the master database. I was wondering if I can use a vlookup function to do this, but I've never used it with 2 dimensional data.
