I have a collumn with lots of different text values some repeated. how can i count all these values so that it only counts each value once.
e.g
if in cell A1 i have = "apples"
and in cell A2 i have "apples"
and in cell A3 i have "Pear"
I'm trying to find a code that will count duplicate values in columns B,C and D and put the outcomes in B1, C1 and D1.
If've tried conditional formatting but can't count any formatted cells with duplicate values.
Any Ideas?

I have a 2 columns with lots of different text values some repeated. Again Colum B has a Yes/No anwer input, how can i count all these values in Colum A based on whether the Column B value equals yes.

What I want the formula to do is count all the Yes occurrences in column B and Only one distinct occurence of a Company

From the above I want to see 3 as a result as opposed to 4 as they are two Yes entries for Company Z
I have been able to use the SUMPRODUCT function but dont have the knowledge to build upon this to take the second column value into consideration.
I need to identify repeated code with different text value. The codes in B column appears repeatedly in the list. However some codes have different text value (one time appears with public and another time appears with priv). I would like to identify those codes as 1 if they appear with different text value within the list. I highlighted one code 131775 for reference.

I noticed that when I use countif to count cells with certain text value it works but up to some point when it returns way too much then (when there are generally more values matching I think). I don't know what is the cause ..formatting? some function limit ?

I've been studying a number of different formulas, but I can't seem to get my head wrapped around this functionality.
I want to count unique items in a list with an array formula, like the items is in 3 columns A,B,C are from row 2 to 101. Now i use an array to filter out some rows in the columns of B,C & then count unique items in Column A.
so,
column A has "30 diffrent names repeated from A2 to A101"
column B has numbers 0 to 100
column c has value either 0 or 1
now i use an formula TO filter out rows in column B & c
formula =count(IF((B2:B101>0)*(C2:C101<>1),1))) using ctrl+shift+enter
now what should i suffix or prefix to this formula to count unique values in column A.
I have used the advanced filter option in excel 2010 to display all the unique occurences of a list of names (column B) and then used the count function =COUNTIF(A$2:A$21,B2) to count the occurences of each name (column C).
However, excel did not manage to take into account the last 3 entries in column A (mir-23). I assume this is because it is a mixture of text and numeric values. How can I include this information in the grouping and counting?

What can I add to this existing formula to look for duplicate values in the entire column (D) and then concatenate the text of column (K) in each of those rows together?
Essentially I want to string all text in column K together, for each duplicate row of column D with the results in column L.

I have two sheets, where I am trying to look up the value from one sheet and post it to the other.
On sheet 1 I have the Names of the Individuals, On sheet 2 I have the Names of the individuals in a different order and then in the next column i have the amount of dollars they spent on a product.
The reason I don't think I can do a simple vlookup here is that sometimes the names are listed Multiple times each because they made seperate purchases.
So for example

John Doe Jane Doe $1,000
John Doe Michael Jordan $2,000
Jane Doe John Doe $3,000
Michael Jordan Michael Jackson $4,000
Michael Jackson John Doe $5,000
If I did a vlookup, I assume that John Doe would return $3,000 for both. I would like to return $3,000 for one and $5,000 for another.
I'm trying to rank the values in cells S32:S38 in ascending order while ignoring zeros and negative values. I also need to rank duplicate values with a unique ranking, so that no ranking value is repeated. I tried the formula below, but the ranking values start at "2" instead of "1" and I can't figure out how to fix it.

In simple, in the first row, Name1 and Name2 are repeating. And the requirement is to remove the repeated value "A" from Name2.

How do you write an excel macro that looks at the number in the first column (day #) and finds all the duplicate id#s in the second column that are in day 1and adds the amounts together in the 3rd column then writes the first column number (day#), second column number(id#) and the third column (sum of the amounts of duplicate Id#) to an new worksheet. Then the macro would loop through day #2 and do the same thing. Notice that the values in the id column are unique in this data set below this is how I would like the data to look. I have accomplished this in a pivot table but my problem is I need a cvs file to export the final data into an external database which is why I need a macro.....

I cannot get various formulas (Countif, Match, Frequency, Etc) to work properly.
I am trying to arrive at a total number of matches of numbers in cell range B1:G1 with any numbers entered into the cell range of K1:P11 and have the total of matches display in cell H1.
However I do not want to count duplicate numbers from the K1:P11 cells. (if the number 5 in posted in K1:P11 multiple times I only need it reported once in H1)
B1:G1 is the constant and the numbers will not change - K1:P11 cells will be populated by adding numbers until the all the numbers in B1:G1 is completed and match.

I have a worksheet that has 3 duplicate values in a particular column, I need a macros that will highlight two of the duplicates row and then another macro to delete the entire row. The duplicate element are in column R. find attached worksheet.

I am using the following macro to insert the word "Duplicate" in the first blank column next to a duplicate row. My data is sorted by the first column. Data Example:

Here is the macro I am using and it does not work. It marks the first duplicate it finds then goes into an infinite loop. Any Idea where I went wrong?

I have some code but I still need to do a considerable amount of tweaking to it. Currently my code is only deleting the duplicate values in Col A. I am having difficulty summing the values in Col D as well as deleting the entire row.

Each one of these rows represents an entry into a ticket in our incident management system. Col4 represents the method by which the incident was reported to us (Email, Voicemail, Walk In, Ask IT). A ticket can be open and closed with a single entry if the issue is easily solved or it can have many entries if the issue is complex and requires more troubleshooting or escalation to a higher tier of support. I need to determine the number of unique tickets submitted by each reporting avenue (Email, Voicemail, Walk In, Ask IT).
