# Ranking With Duplicate Values While Ignoring Zeros And Negative Values

Mar 26, 2014

I'm trying to rank the values in cells S32:S38 in ascending order while ignoring zeros and negative values. I also need to rank duplicate values with a unique ranking, so that no ranking value is repeated. I tried the formula below, but the ranking values start at "2" instead of "1" and I can't figure out how to fix it.

Formula:

[Code] ....

## Userform Listbox: Check Wether Range Have Negative Values Or Not If Yes Load All Negative Values In The Listbox1 By Clicking Checkbox

Jan 19, 2009

I have data in range J2:J365 , H368:H401 & J403:J827. i want to check wether this range have negative values or not if yes load all negative values in the listbox1 by clicking checkbox.

## Ranking Values And Ranking Duplicates The Same Rank

Mar 30, 2014

Ranking values and ranking duplicates the same rank I'm looking to rank a group of numbers that will possibly have duplicate numbers that I want to show as a tie but have no break in the rankings.

Example:
20
18
18
15
12
11
11
9

The ranking I am looking for is:
1
2
2
3
4
5
5
6

## Convert Absolute Values To Negative Values Based On Criteria

Aug 14, 2008

is it possible to write a macro that will convert absolute values into negative based on criteria? Data gets downloaded from in house system which comes out as all absolute values, now i need the macro to covert absolute values to negative if the amount is either "Our Reciepts" or "Our Delivery"

Below is a small sample of data, real data is around 100 rows

Col DCol EOur Receipts1231Our Delivery1231Delivery Settlement1323

## Use Vlookup For Negative Values Or A Range Of Values?

Oct 27, 2008

i want to put a subject for a negative values, how should i do it?

For example:

lookup_value: -1000
table_array:
<0 - Poor
0-10000 - Good
> 10000 - excellent

is it possible to do this? ALternatively see the (new) attachment for clearer question.

## Convert Positive Values To Negative Values

Apr 7, 2008

I have a table (column C5 to H20)

The table has values in each cell. Some cells have zero values and some have positive values.

Basically, I need to convert all positive (non zero) values to Negative values using VBA (i.e. convert 251 to -251).

## Counting Duplicate Values With Repeated Text Values

Jan 25, 2004

I have a collumn with lots of different text values some repeated. how can i count all these values so that it only counts each value once.

e.g

if in cell A1 i have = "apples"
and in cell A2 i have "apples"
and in cell A3 i have "Pear"

## Macro: Find Duplicate Values & Sum Values. Per Day Basis

Oct 13, 2006

I have data that looks like this:

day# id amount
1 56575 0
1 56675 0
1 56680 0
1 56683 0
1 56681 0
1 51810 0..............

How do you write an excel macro that looks at the number in the first column (day #) and finds all the duplicate id#s in the second column that are in day 1and adds the amounts together in the 3rd column then writes the first column number (day#), second column number(id#) and the third column (sum of the amounts of duplicate Id#) to an new worksheet. Then the macro would loop through day #2 and do the same thing. Notice that the values in the id column are unique in this data set below this is how I would like the data to look. I have accomplished this in a pivot table but my problem is I need a cvs file to export the final data into an external database which is why I need a macro.....

## Ranking Values 1 To 100?

Jan 22, 2014

I have a data base of numbers Columns C to K with values from Row 2 to 3766. I want to rank each of these columns by value 1 to 100. However, some of the columns will assign 1 to the highest value and 100 to the lowest. In other columns it will be reverse, 1 is given to the lowest value and 100 to the highest. I can do a rank by percentile but that's not the scoring I'm looking for. Also don't know how to reverse assignment of high or low values. One further note, some of the cells are blank in which case I want to assign a neutral score of 50.

## Ignoring Zero Values On Graph

Feb 19, 2010

I have a line graph that charts certain data per day in a month.

During the weekend there is no data. The graph however considers the number as zero, and I want it to just "skip" that day and plot the line directly from the friday date to the monday, instead of the line touching zero on saturday's and sundays.

Is it possible to do this? Or am I forced to adapt my table to only include days of the week?

## Unique Values From List Of Many Duplicate Values?

Jan 31, 2014

how to get this with formula:

Column A - - Column B
a - - - - - - - a
a - - - - - - - b
b - - - - - - - c
c

## Using =MODE And Ignoring Zeros

Nov 3, 2009

I need a formula that will find the mode from a range of numbers but ignore the 0's. I have worked out the below array formula which seems to work.

{=IF(MODE(IF(N18:P25>0,N18:P25))=1,"Low",IF(MODE(IF(N18:P25>0,N18:P25))=2,"Secure",IF(MODE(IF(N18:P2 5>0,N18:P25))=3,"High")))}

The only thing is, if only one cell contains a number other than 0 (eg. 1,2 or 3) then it returns #N/A. Ideally i'd like it to show the appropriate response for the number that is in the number range. For example - if one cell shows the number 2 and the rest are 0's, i'd like it to show Secure(the response for 2) rather than #N/A.

## Sort Ignoring Zeros

Jan 10, 2007

In my spreadsheet, I have a formula that extract to other column only non duplicates, then I want this information in other column sort by the lowest number but without the zero.

Column A, all numbers extracted
Column B, all non duplicates, where normally we have one zero.

I want the result from Column B in other sheet like that:

SheetA, Column B: 637,635,663,0,618.

SheetB, Column A, RowX: 618;635;637;663.

## Rank Function Ignoring Only Zero Values

Sep 12, 2013

I'm trying to rank the values in row 94 while ignoring only zero values and including positive and negative values. I'd like the function to rank the values in descending order, beginning with the most positive value and ending with the most negative value while ignoring all zeros. The function I've come up with so far ranks the positive values correctly and ignores the zeros, but the negative values are ranked as if they come after all of the zero values instead of being ranked immediately after the smallest positive value. Is there a way to fix the function below to make it do what I want?

=IF(D94=0,"",RANK(D94,\$D\$94:\$AY\$94,0))

## Ranking Values In Non Adjacent Cells?

Mar 22, 2014

I have a results table that i want to be able to rank into a simple list 1 - 4. However the results are not in cells beside each other.

I tried using a helper column and then the Large function, however cannot get it to work.

I have attached an example sheet, and in column L4 - L7 i would like to put the team names (taken from column B) into the right order from the results shown.

I have to replicate this over a number of different pools in a number of different divisions. This is just one pool.

## Selection And Ranking 10 Highest Values

Jan 29, 2010

I'm trying to let the code described down below to select 10 of the highest values and give them a ranking in the next column using the letters A to J.

My query;

The code gives all 10 of the highest values the ranking letter J instead of A to J, so what's going wrong?

Also, is there a way to simplify this code so it will be easier to maintain and run quicker?

## Ranking Values Until Change In Another Cell

Oct 6, 2009

I have 2 lists.

I want to rank scores/ratings in list 2 and rank against all those cells that have the same value.

In the example you will see column A and column B.

I need a Rank for all those cells in B for 17:45, 18:15, 18:45 etc.

## Vertical Ranking Of Unique Values

Feb 20, 2010

I've been trying to figure where I've gone wrong on this one for a couple days. Maybe you guys can assist.

I have a data entry table:

DateAgeGenderPositionSportAthleteBike 5 min (Miles) 1/2 BW Pull Up1/8/200920-26MaleChangerRB_84Brett Nena8351/8/200927-33MaleJackRB_83Sha Pet3381/8/200927-33MaleGasRB_82Mik Malf1551/8/200948-54MaleGasMWR_56Dou New2321/8/200920-26MaleChangerRB_82Cha Avr12401/8/200927-33MaleChangerRB_82Dan Kaid6181/14/200927-33MaleChangerMWR_00Ryan Lang7121/14/200927-33MaleJackRB_83Sha Pet6331/14/200920-26MaleCarrierMWR_00Don Mar9152/8/201020-26MaleChangerRB_84Brett Nena8121/12/201041-47MaleCatchMWR_00Jeff Sea715

I have an area for each exercise where I am ranking the athletes average score. In these ranking areas I did not want the athlete name to show up more than once so I decided to use this formula in the names column below:

{=IF(ROWS(L\$2:L2)

## Ranking Values Against Multiple Criteria

Oct 7, 2009

I have successfully been able to rank items using two criteria but I'm unsure of the syntax for adding a third or fourth set. I'm new to the use of Sumprodoct.

I have attached a file. Where column C and E have the same value, I want Excel to look at column F and assign a rank (formula is in column K) in ascending order.

ACEFK
ItemLife LeftTot CostBalRank
signs1 250 250 1
paint curb1 500 500 2
tree work1 2,500 2,500 3
landscape2 9,000 7,200 4
siding2 9,000 7,500 4

Here is my formula:

=IF(ISERROR(RANK(C8,C\$5:C\$105,1)+ SUMPRODUCT(--(C8=C\$5:C\$105),--(E8>E\$5:E\$105))),0,RANK(C8,C\$5:C\$105,1)+SUMPRODUCT(--(C8=C\$5:C\$105),--(E8>E\$5:E\$105)))

I've attached a file.

## Average While Ignoring Zeros And Errors?

Feb 14, 2013

I'm trying to return the average, min and max values of a range that will have errors, be blank or have zeros. I have already found an array formula that works getting rid of the errors but the zeros are now a problem.

{=AVERAGE(IF(NOT(ISERROR(D27:G27)),D27:G27))}

I was thinking that an OR might be needed but for the life of me can't figure out where it belongs. I will also be using this formula with both MIN and MAX in the adjacent cells so it would be great if all I have to do is swap those in for AVERAGE. I'm not keen on how array formulas work, just found an example similar to this on the interwebs, and I'm curious why if the array brackets are removed the value returned is 0 and not an error.

Workbook is proprietary so VB is locked and not an option (not sure if it was but wanted to be clear).

## Calculating Rolling Average Ignoring 0 Values

Jun 6, 2014

What I have is a spreadsheet with a whole bunch of sporting data on it. see attachment for an idea of the layout, Stats.jpg

In these data each round a player is given a rating. What I want to do is calculate is the average rating for each player across the last 3 and 5 games they have played. When a player misses a game they get a rating of 0 for the round. I want 0 ratings to be ignored in the running averages. Additionally, games yet to be played have a 0 in the cell and should be ignored. To get overall averages ignoring 0's was simple I used the averageif function, but I couldn't figure out how to use that but only extract the last 3 non 0 values. I currently have data up to round 12, so if a player has played in 12, 11 and 10 then the 3 round average should just be the average of these 3, but if they missed for example round 11 then the 3 round average should return the average of 9, 10 and 12.

The data is set out in the following way.

In column B I have a list of player names from cells B3:B618.

Across row 1 from N1:AM1 are labels "round 1" "round 2" etc.

The ratings for each player in each round are in N-AM and from 3-618. i.e. N3:AM3 contains the weekly rating for player 1, 4 contains player 2 etc.

I would like the 3 round averages to be returned for each player in column L and 5 round averages in column M.

## Ignoring Blank Cells While Fetching Values

Aug 18, 2014

I have created a drop down cell based on the cells in the first row of a particular table. Now when i select a particular cell from the drop down i want to fetch all the values in the respective column of the selected cell on to a different group of cells. While fetching the data to those group of cells, i want to ignore all the null, blank cells. All this actions shall be automated and shall happen simultaneously on selecting the drop down.

## Ranking With Only Unique Names Attached To Values?

Apr 1, 2014

I'm making an excel file where I keep track of the scoring in a little competition me and my friends do with betting on sports.

However, I got a little problem trying to automate my ranking.

Naamloos.jpg

As you can see in the image, when there is a duplicate score, the name stays the same for every other same value (Joris). The formula I use (also as seen in the image) just takes the first name it comes across (from left to right) and keeps using that one. But I need it to ignore the name Joris the second time, and ignore Joris AND Tim the third time, so that every score/rank (even if the scores are a draw) has a unique name attached to it.

## Ordering List Whilst Ignoring Zeros

Oct 21, 2013

I would like to reorder a list whilst ignoring any 0 values. I've attached (I hope correctly!) a spreadsheet of what I mean. It's pretty simple, but I've been banging my head over it for a while now!

## Ignoring Specific Values While Selecting Multiple Cells

Dec 20, 2012

I have to correct a spreadsheet that takes a bunch of values and creates an average.

=average(N15;N29;N43;N57;N71;N85;N99;N113;N127;N141;N155;N169;N183;
N197;N211;N225;N241;N255;N269;N283;N301;N315;N329;N343;N357)*100%

I didn't create this. Anyway, the problem is that most of these cells will be empty unless a whole bunch of other stuff is filled. These N cells take several values, put them together and create a new one. As time goes by they are filled. While they aren't filled, they'll return the DIV/0 error.

So when that formula I pasted there uses all of these values, it also returns a DIV/0 error because it is getting info from cells that have this error.

I managed to correct that with this
=averageif(N15:N357;"<>#DIV/0!")*100%

It works like a charm save for one problem. When I use averageif I'm forced to use an interval. Along this interval other values show up (it is always a value ranging from 0 to 2). So when the formula works its magic the results are slightly skewed because of this other value that I don't want.

So I figure there must be two ways around this. The first one would be using something like averageif that lets me use several handpicked cells instead of an interval. If I try

=averageif(N15;N29;N43;N57;N71;N85;N99;N113;N127;N141;N155;N169;N183;
N197;N211;N225;N241;N255;N269;N283;N301;N315;N329;N343;N357;"<>#DIV/0!")*100%

It doesn't work, it says I have too many values. So if I could the exact same thing as I did with averageif but keeping all of these values it'd be super nice.

The other solution, less nice but equally effective I guess, is using this same interval but having more than one criteria. The first criteria would still be the one telling it to ignore DIV/0 error, the second criteria would be the one to ignore any values equal or lower than 2.

## Concatenate Multiple Columns But Ignoring Blank Values

Aug 13, 2012

I wish to Concatenate contents of several columns into a separate column, i tried using the following "column1 & column2 & column3 etc..." however with this the blank cells get concatenated too...What should is use so that contents get concatenated but blank cells are ignored?

## Average Data Columns Ignoring Hidden Rows And Zero Values

Aug 30, 2013

I need to average the columns of data and ignore both hidden rows and zero values. I have tried writing if statements as well as the subtotal function. Both functions either ignore null values or hidden rows but not both.

The system wont let me update a sample workbook but Im wondering whether there is a formula or combo formula for this.

## Excel 2003 :: Ignoring Null Values When Plotting Bar Chart?

Jan 21, 2014

I have some data that I'm plotting on a bar chart and I'm trying to "HIDE" the columns with zero or null values. Basically, if the column is blank, I don't want a "gap" on the chart. I'm not getting this to work.

## Conditional Formatting Multiple Number Values But IGNORING Text?

Sep 6, 2013

I have a spread sheet where there are multiple rows of price quotes from different suppliers.

Some suppliers have quoted, some however have not and there is a "#N/A" or "no bid".

SupplierA
SupplierB
SupplierC
SupplierD

1.3
No Bid
2.3
No Bid

How can I get a conditional format to check each row for the lowest numeric bid, highlight it but ignore the text?? What I have tried so far doesn't work.

=G31=MAX(\$G\$31:\$J\$31)

This does not seem to work, I don't know how to exclude the text values from the MAX function.
