Delete Row If Specific Cell Value Matches Value Found In Another Worksheet
Mar 22, 2011
I need a formula or VBA macro to do the following:
I have 2 worksheets, namely sheet 1 and sheet 2.
Sheet 1 contains data in columns A to H.
Sheet 2 contains data only in column A.
I want Excel to check the data found in column A of Sheet 2 with those in Column A of Sheet 1. Hence, when an exact match is found in Column A of Sheet 1, Excel will delete that entire row.

I'm trying to find vehicle make and model in a cell containing a lot of text and then display that in the formula cell. For example if A1 is a paragraph that contains somewhere within it "Ford" & "Ranger". I want B1 to display "Ford" and C1 to display "Ranger". I have a list of vehicles makes (column A) and models (column B) on a seperate sheet.

I have an excel file, and on some rows, the "B" column contains the text " Total:" (it does have a leading space). I would like to loop through the first 200 rows (maximum length of the file) and delete all the rows that contain " Total:" in column "B". I have tried:
For i = 1 To 200
range("B" & i).activate
If range("B" & i).value = " Total:" Then
rows(activecell.row).select
selection.delete shift:=xlUp
End If
Next i
When I step through that code, it just skips over the IF function as if B1 does not equal " Witness:"

I have a selection on a worksheet that has 4 consistent columns (A, B, C, and D) each with a variable number of rows all containing string type data. With this data I want to use Conditional Formatting so that when I have a string value of X in column D for any row, that whole row with the X in column D has it's color change to say grey, this should happen regardless of what strings are in Columns A, B, or C.
Below is the way I've been trying to do this thus far and failing, when I run this code below I can only get it to grey out the cell with the X not the whole row.
Selection.FormatConditions.Delete
Selection.FormatConditions.Add Type:=xlCellValue, Operator:=xlEqual, _
Formula1:="=""x"""
Selection.FormatConditions(1) . Interior.ColorIndex = 16

I have a spreadsheet that is updated daily with data that falls into one of two categories: a) completely new to the sheet or b) existing from the day before but not taken care of yet. The items which fall into category a are evaluated, and notes added to the sheet. The items in category b must be compared to the new data, and duplicated lines deleted but notes from previous evaluation must be kept on the sheet. In addition, anything on the sheet that is not included in the new information needs to be deleted. I've set up a sheet with all old and new data with dates the data showed up as well as the notes associated with the old data, and have concatenated all the info from each row into column V (from another suggestion I got on a similar but not exactly the same problem which I also still haven't figured out). The sheet has been sorted by col V so any matching rows should be within 3 or 4 rows of the original. The problem is that my code does absolutely zilch!
Sub DeleteRepeatedRows()
' goes through coord. sheet and identifies duplicated lines, copies the date from the old row
' copies it into the new line, then deletes the old line
Dim rCell As Range
For Each rCell In Selection
If rCell.Value = rCell.Offset(1, 0).Value Then
rCell.EntireRow.Delete
End If
If rCell.Value = rCell.Offset(2, 0).Value Then
rCell.EntireRow.Delete
End If.........................................

I have two lists, one has 250 items, the other 4500, both contain a String
I need to compare any word within a cell in the short list, against any word within a cell in the long list.
The returned value needs to display both the short list item, as well as the long list item for manual comparison by an analyst.

I'm trying to loop thru the worksheets(which are imported from a web form in Outlook) and delete row 31 until the text "PARTS" is reached.
I need to do this to format each sheet exactly for export to an Access database. The code below works when I step thru it but when I save and run from a button it gets stuck in an endless loop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
JB
Sub DeleteRow31()
Dim w As Worksheet
Dim rng As Range
For Each w In Worksheets
w.Select
Do Until Cells(31, "B") = "PARTS:"
Range("B31").Select
Range("B31:K31").UnMerge
Range("B31").Select
If Not Cells(31, "B") = "PARTS:" Then
Selection.EntireRow.Delete
End If
Loop
Next w
End Sub

I have two workbooks, one is used for importing items to the site while the other is a monthly product list. In each of these I have a list of sku codes. I need a macro that will search each sku from the import to the entire product workbook. If it's found then delete the whole row from the product workbook. I have attached the examples below.

I have a advanced filter that works pretty much close to how I want it to. However I would like it to either cancel the new filter or copy everything if it finds 0 matches.
If the copied location is blank it breaks my sheet. So I need to find a way for it to never be blank, either by canceling it, copying everything, or finding some other way I haven't thought of.
Also for some reason my Advanced Filter does NOT Ignore blank "OR" cells. If I place a word in the top cell, then leave the bottom blank, it searches for the top cell or anything and I end up with everything. Its quite frustrating.

This is a continuation of thread 182629 [URL] ....
The End User wanted originally to type characters into cell C1 of a worksheet that the macro searched for in another worksheet, copying across every row containing the input.
The responses gave me the following code which worked perfectly:
VB:
With Sheets("PICKLIST")
myFind = "*" & .[c1].Value & "*"
End With
If myFind = "*" & "" & "*" Then Exit Sub
Unfortunately, the user NOW wants a Text Box instead of putting the characters into a cell.
I added a textbox (originally called 'TextBox2' but renamed "Choice") and "Dimed" CHOICE As Range.
Then tried the following code:
VB:
With Sheets("PICKLIST")
myFind = "*" & CHOICE & "*"
End With
But it generates a "RunTime Error 91" - Object variable or With block variable not set.

I have an issue where I want to delete a row on Sheet1 if the cell in column a of that row is a match in a column A of Sheet2. If there is no Match, I want it to move to the next row until it has checked all rows with information. The size of the data varies daily. I do not want to check Row 1 either. Below is an example of what would happen.
BEFORE MACRO:
Sheet 1 Column A
ID#
A
B
C
D
Sheet 2 Column A
ID#
A
C
D
AFTER MACRO:
Sheet 1 Column A
ID#
B
Sheet 2 Column A
ID#
A
C
D

I have a set of data (time in minutes) below (fig 1) that I need to use if the total time between two entered times matches a coloms total. If it matches I want Excel to use the data in that colom to affect the data in another (fig 2) colom adding the times to each cell.

Row B 5 6 6 8
Row C 4 5 6 7
Row D 5 4 4 5

Coloms A B C D
Row A 1:00 2:00 3:11 4:01
Row B
Row C
Row E
Row F 1:19 2:20 3:33 4:27

I have two buttons with macros attached. One button inserts a new wave line and everytime a wave is inserted, the number of that wave follows on. I have another button which inserts a new store line. There can be multiple stores per wave. What I want now is another button which when clicked would bring up a listbox of all the waves so that I could select a wave to delete. Once I deleted a wave I want the waves which are left to re number themselves so that they aren't out of order. This would have to also delete each store which was underneath that particular wave.
