Please find the attachment in which i have mentioned all the details about the error in VLOOKUP function. I couldn't understand why I am getting that error for that single Vlookup value while others are ok.
Currently I am facing a problem that I want to copy data from sheet 2 to sheet 1.Here I am using vlookup function. But I have a problem that when there is two items of same name in sheet 1,it copies data from sheet 2 into both same items in sheet 1.How can I restrict and copy data to only 1 items. The sample data is as shown below :
My problem is that I am getting the N/A error in cell M3 if L3 is empty. I would like the forumla to 'ignore' cell L3 if it is empty. I do not want a zero put in there. I have looked up information on ISBLANK function but the more I read the more confused I am getting
I am having some trouble getting a formula to work. I am building a report that pulls figures from a pivot table in another workbook. I am using a vlookup with match function to get the column index to find the relevant data I want. Where I need to add two columns together I am using sum, with the vlookup & match formulas nested in them e.g.:
Where: F13 = Employee number Column C on the pivot 156 workbook is where the employee number is based. The Match formula is then getting the column index from the column headings of the pivot table ie. "FAID"
This in itself works fine, as long as it finds a match in the column headings. This is where i get the error as in the above function "COMD" is not in the pivot table. However I need to keep it included as it may appear on a future pivot table. Is there a way of getting the sum function to complete even though later in the formula it can't complete the vlookup? So it will ignore it, or assume the value is zero if it can't find it? The formula probably needs to do this for all the vlookups as some headings may drop off in future pivot tables.
So the issue I am having is that I have a worksheet with two long rows of value. If the user enters the incorrect value, the program gives a error case of 1004. If and when this error occurs I want the program to send a MessageBox to the user then end the program. The problem that I am running into is that whenever I write On Error Goto... It Goes to the label whenever any runtime error occurs. My belief is that there has to be a way to only check for a runtime error on a single line of code rather than the entire sub.
I am trying to run create a simple macro that copies and paste special values - something I have done 100's of times but for some reason I keep getting an error message - even though I recorded the macro and didnt write it by hand - see below:
Sub Macro6() Cells.Select selection.Copy selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _ :=False, Transpose:=False End Sub
For which I get 'Compile Error - Expected Function or Variable'
I want to combine both an 'if' and a 'vlookup' within a single cell. So I want to say if the value in cell a1 can be found in columns c1:d100 then return a 'yes' if not return a 'no'. How do I do this
let me start by saying that I know an example workbook would be useful here, but the part I'm struggling with is the [managementroster.xlsm] file, and there is A. no way I can release it to the internets and B. its so huge/complicated I couldn't even begin to reproduce a portion of it, scrubbed of data, and hope to maintain its functionality in a meaningful manner.
[Code]....
This formula checks a staff number on this spreadsheet, and then goes and looks at the staff number on the roster. Once found, it returns that staff members roster, but changes any manager codes in the MRC list to Mgr, and changes all other roster codes to Free.
I now need this formula, before altering roster codes to Mgr or Free, to only return codes that are a match for another table (or after really. I don't particularly care, so long as only codes are shown that match data from another table). I think an index/match function would do the trick, but this forumula is already at the edge of my excel ability, nesting another function within it is completey beyond me. The relevant cells for the index/match function would be:
This first Match function targets the column. $E3 is the date required, $BA$1:$DN$1 is the range the dates are entered in Match: Lookup value = $E3 Lookup array = '[ManagementRoster.xlsm]Vacancies!'$BA$1:$DN$1 match type = 0
This second Match function targets the row. $A$4 is the department name, $B$434:$B$452 is the range where all departments are entered
Match: Lookup value = $A$4 Lookup Array = '[ManagementRoster.xlsm]Vacancies!'$B$434:$B$452 match type = 0
Index: array = $BA$434:$DN$452
So I think my final function is
[Code] .....
But I have absolutely NO idea where it would fit within my first formula, or how to code it so that my original formula only reproduces results that are found in both sheets, or anything.
I have an original workbook that I use daily stored in a folder called 'Live'. I also have this same workbook saved in a different folder call 'In Progress' because I am constantly improving and making changes to it. While I'm in the revision mode, I keep it in this folder. Once I've completed my revisions, I move it to the folder where the live workbook is located and replace the old version. Therefore, I have two copies of the workbook at all times. The name of the workbook in both folders is the same (IRQT)
I have a macro in this workbook that will allow you to save a copy of the workbook in a folder called IRQTArchive. The macro will create the folder if it doesn't exist, then store a copy of the workbook using a name in a cell. After that is complete it renames the workbook back to the original name (IRQT).
This macro works perfect in my live version, but when I execute the macro in the 'In Progress' version, I get a Compile error: Sub or Function not Defined when it reads the dirExists command in the first line of code. The code in both sheets is identical. Here are the first few lines of code. The command dirExists is highlited in yellow when it errors out.
I'am trying to send a single worksheet by copying it out of workbook and saving it, and after sending I want to delete the temporary file. But I get a Error message: 'Run-time error 438: 'Object doesn't support this property or method
Sub SendWeekrapport() Dim wb As Workbook Dim addr As Variant Dim bestand As String Call SelectWeekrap addr = Array("myname@mycompany.com") Application. ScreenUpdating = False ActiveSheet.Copy Set wb = ActiveWorkbook With wb .SaveAs Range("AG3").Value & "bestand" & Range("b2").Value & ".xls" 'amend to suit .SendMail addr, " Attached Timesheet for " & Range("B2").Value .ChangeFileAccess xlReadOnly.............
I built an Excel Macro to pull information from my schedule and compile it within another Worksheet. The Macro below searches for an instance of "Unavailable" and then populates my Data Worksheet with the WeekDays (ie: M-W-F or ALL Week), the Details (ie: Vacation or Training) and the Name of the employee. I struggled with a way to populate my employee name as "unavailable" isn't always offset by the same amount of characters to employee name (as it is with WeekDays and Details). Instead, I collected the row in which "Unavailable" was found.
I used the Vlookup function to populate the number of Absences and it worked swell.
=VLOOKUP(C2,O:P,2,FALSE)
C2 is populated with Weekdays (ie: ALL week or M-W-F) O contains a list of possible day combinations P contains the number of days
I hoped to use a similar function to populate my employee names. This didn't work well a 'tall.
I am receiving a run-time error with following code. The error message is "unable to get the VLookup property of the WorksheetFunction class". I only receive the message when the lookup value is not found in the table.
I thought adding the "False" command at the end would return an "N/A" but it didn't. Is there anything I can add to avoid this error?
In a workbook I have a tab with multiple columns containing names, activity codes, billed hours, etc. On another tab I have created a budget for which I use the Excel SUMIFS function to check the database in the first tab for relevant entries and add them together in the budget sheet.
Now here's for the tricky part. On the budget sheet the names are not mentioned, only the job titles. So these are grouped together. This means that the first tab shows only names, while the budget tab only shows the function title.
The function I have used thus far is this:
Formula: [Code] ......
The first part refers to the column containing the billed hours, the second part refers to the column containing the names (criteria range 1), the third part refers to a specific name (criteria 1), the fourth part refers to the column containing the activity codes (criteria range 2), while the fifth part refers to a specific activity code (criteria 2).
This works really well as long as the budget tab only mentions the names, yet it only aggegates at the job title level. Would it be possible to use the same SUMIFS function to search the database for, say, all the names that fall within one specific job title? Essentially that would result in this somewhat bulky function:
I am trying to write a function that returns a single dimension array from inputed data. I want this to work for any data, i.e. a single cell, an array in vba or a range. I am using the "for each" staement. However, when I pass an array in the "for each" returns the same range, rather than the elements of the range. I've played around a bit, and the "for each" does what I want on an range if I am not passing the range to a function. Is it because I am passing the range into a function as a variant? Here is the code for the function.
Public Function CreateSingleDimensionArray(ByVal dataToConvert) As Variant
Dim vHolder As Variant Dim vArray As Variant Dim lElementCount As Long
lElementCount = 0 For Each vHolder In dataToConvert lElementCount = lElementCount + 1 Redim vArray(1 To lElementCount) vArray(lElementCount) = vHolder Next vHolder CreateSingleDimensionArray = vArray
I am trying to use the vlookup function together with an offset function but i am not getting it to work properly.
The situation is as follows:
I have a column E in which i use the vlookup function to find its corresponding value in B which in turn refers to a named range. However, the figure i want the function to return is 2 columns to the right and 2 rows above the value which the vlookup funtion finds in the first column.
I have though of using the offset function, but i cannot figure out how to make this work.
I would like to extract and compile the information contained in these cells: a5,c5,a6,c6,c7,a14,g14,e16,g16,e18,i18,a20,g20,h22,j22,h24,l24 all the sheets.
New sheet would contain the information of each sheet eg. Column A2= file name
And Row B2 to R2 or whatever will be the corresponding cells mentioned above for each cell. The code I have only brings back the file name but only a5 from the range but not the rest.
VB: Sub MergeAllWorkbooks() Dim SummarySheet As Worksheet Dim FolderPath As String Dim NRow As Long Dim FileName As String Dim WorkBk As Workbook Dim SourceRange As Range
I have been using the CONCATENATE function to merge 2 strings together into a single cell. However the problem is, the third concatenated cell depends on the other 2 existing. The idea is I want to take 2 columns of data, and use a formula to merge them, then delete the original 2 data columns so I have a single column with the full data merged.
COL 1 (A3) = First Name COL 2 (B3) = Last Name COL 3 (C3) = Full Name (wanted)
So I do =CONCATENATE(A3,B3) and that puts the fullname in C3, but I want to sort of "flatten" C3 so that I have the fullname by itself and I can delete the original cells (A, and B)
I want a UDF; = OK (f1,f2) each argument being an alternative function. If f1 returns an error message then use f2. Should be easy but I cannot get it to work.
You must install "Analysis TookPak-VBA" before doing this; check in your Excel's Tools/Add-Ins menu. Paste this long function (see below) in an Excel's worksheet (any cell) and press F9 (calculate) until you see at least 2 identical numbers. Real life's lottery does not have repeating numbers. I can disable this repetition by using cells relation but I want to use just one (1) cell. Any expert wants to challenge? If not, you can use VBA. But it still requires one (1) line of codes.
I've got an If statement in Excel which features several VLookups - I need the IF statement to return differing results to 2 different cells, is this possible?
In plain English, I'm looking for something like
If(Vlookup(A2, B2:D5, 4, False), C6="y" And D7="ok", "False")
I created a workbook with three sheets, I do a vlookup formula that looks like this:=VLOOKUP(D3,Sheet3!A:D,2,FALSE)
so basically, find the value of D3 and look for the exact match in sheet 3 (column range a-d) then report back the value found in the second column.
I get an #NA error with this. Funny thing is that if I go to sheet 3, find the correct value and "re-type" it in, it will now pull the information I want.
I've tried some basic formatting changes that dont fix the issue and the only thing that seems to work is retyping the values into sheet 3.
I've got about 1500 rows I'd have to retype so the idea doesnt excite me.
I've tried using the following (simplified) code to look up a date in a named range and return the result from the same row in the next column to the right. I can do this easily in the worksheet, but I can't write a VBA function to do it. Code:
