Jan 4, 2014When I export data from .csv or .tsv file to .excel file then all the preceding zero's disappear and the code 0010 display's like 10.
I know I can manually import data from csv to text(option "fromtext" in excel) but i want to do it automatically.

One of the columns in the .txt file contains descriptions for each row and its in multiple rows. Is there a way to import the .txt file so that it will show a description for each row in one cell?
I imported the data into excel but the issue is the description.
Excel 2007 :: Hyperlinks - Cannot Open The Specified File
Oct 17, 2013I received a USB drive from a client with an Excel spreadsheet with hyperlinks to PDF's (not sure of the version it was originally created in but my version is 2007). The PDF's are in another folder on the USB drive.
The cells with the hyperlinks have a formula to hidden cells [i.e. =HYPERLINK(C17,B17)] - in column B is the name of the hyperlink and in column C looks to be the file trial to the PDF (please see attached picture).
When I select the link, I get an Alert Box stating, "Cannot open the specified file." How I can get these links to work?

Every time I start up excel whether it's opening a new spreadsheet or an existing one it tries to open one that I had deleted a while ago. I have nothing in my xlstartup files and I have thoroughly searched all files around it, before it, after it, and all in between. I went to Excel Options>Advanced>General and there is nothing in the field where it says "At startup open all files in:"
It seems to be trying to open the file from my desktop.

Jun 3, 2009I have a workbook with many spreadsheet named Sheet1, Sheet2 and so on. Each sheet is filled completely upto 65536 rows. This data is being picked up from a CSV file. In this file there are sites with each site there is a assciated set of data. What happens is the data that extracts data does not differntiate between sites and when it reaches to the end of worksheet it splits the data into next sheet. So I am trying to create a macro to check each spreadsheet starting with the last sheet in the work book for example last sheet in the workbook is seven it should go to sheet6 and if there is a blank row after row 64000 it should cut all the rows and move them to sheet7. Then it should goto sheet5 and do the same and keep on doing it until it reaches sheet1.

Open File With Changing Filename-2007
Aug 1, 2008I would like to create a macro to open a file in Excel 2007. My problem is that the filename changes often. After updates are made the filename is changed and the old file is moved to a backup folder. So, there is only one similar file in the folder
My filename is "RFQ Worksheet 7 29 2008.xlsx".
The path is "C:Documents and SettingsahaynijDesktop".

The amount of records in this table is slowing down the Excel file, and I would like to lessen the amount of data that is imported based on the user selection.
The Access table will have three columns:
Part Number|Line|Catalog Code
I would like to import all three columns, but allow the user to select the records imported based on the catalog code.
The users do not have read or write access to the sql tables, so I run an Access query at the end of each day to create an Access table that they can access.

I am not able to import all the Excel data successfully, and I need to know what I'm doing wrong. Note that in all these samples cell A1 is the heading text "Column1" and the main data starts on cell A2 (consistent with the example code).
When my source Excel data looks like the following:

It imports everything OK. However, if I move the X to the next row:

...the "X" cell gets imported as an empty string. So the imported array looks like this:

Once I need to open the file (only in the mornings), it has to be the one from the previous day to see the yesterdays performance. How can I create a macro that will look at the date in the file and take the one from yesterday?

First I need to reformat into the row format in excel rather than the format it is in. The issue is not all the segments are the same number of lines or they may have mutli message lines. The names with colon : after them I want to be field names in the table which I wish the text file to import into. Please, I am looking for assistance with this.
I have attached sample data of the text dump, and the name of the file is as you see but different date on the end. At the very end of the text file you will see the desired output which I will then import into Access
Also every new message begins with the dotted line and the date and time at the end.

Sep 20, 2007i use excel 2007, it s slow to open a file by double-clicking and entering from windows explorer, by googling i fould a fix by adding "%1" at the end of command in "Application used to perform action" (folder options/file types/xls/advance/open). however, to open files in the same instance, i have to keep "DDE message" with [open("%1")]. With both "%1", excel now opens twice.
How to fix it?
Excel 2007 :: Workbook Appear To Be Open But Can't See Anything
Feb 13, 2011I am using Excel 2007 on Windows XP professional.
The workbook is called EA.xlsm, and contains dozens of charts, tables and pivot tables - all of which pull their data from external files in the same folder. In case it matters, the folder also contains a Word 2007 document which contains embedded charts form the EA.xlsm file and lays them out for printing.
My problem is that all of a sudden, when I try to open the EA.xlsm file, it gives me two consecutive error messages, as follows:

to which I click enable, and then....

Excel then opens, but I just get the program with a blue screen. i.e. it looks like you have opened Excel, but not opened a file yet. However, if I try to close Excel, it asks me if I want to save changes to EA.xlsm, and if I try to open EA.xlsm again - it tells me that it is already open. Also, if I press Alt+F11 to open the VBA console - I can see the names of all of the sheet tabs in the file - but when I close the VBA console, it looks as though I do not have a file open again.
I suspect that somehow, somewhere the file is open, but I dont know what I need to do to be able to see/edit it. Or even worse - if it has become corrupt. It would take me about a month to put this file back together again from scratch.
Import Text Files To A Sheet In Existing Excel File
Jul 25, 2014I have a folder with multiple text files. I want to import one of these files to a sheet called data in an existing Excel file. The excel file has references to this data sheet on other sheets which I want to keep. I want to save this excel file with the name the text file has and repeat this for all the text files in the folder.
I found a macro a while back which does the job nicely of importing and saving the Excel file, however all the data in the other sheets gets lost once it is saved. How to keep the data?

How can I switch from one Workbook to another?
I found no "open document" menu where all currently opened excel documents are listed.
The only way I found so far is by clicking on another preview in Win 7 Taskbar.
But I guess there must be a way INSIDE Excel as well.
Where can I find (and click) all open excel workbooks/files?
