I'm trying to incorporate a Cell result in my header (the one you select from "Page Setup"). Is this possible? I would like to avoid macro if possible and prefer some type of formula.
I have a macro that create the page header (and footer), which uses a jpg image/logo from my computer. How can I incorporate that into the code so that the macro/image will work properly if not run on my computer?
I'm using Excel 2007. I know how to protect specific cells within a worksheet, but I have not been able to find any information online pertaining to locking or protecting inserted header/footer data, even if I protect the worksheet.
I'm not concerned about setting specific VBA commands to ensure the header/footer prints, but rather preventing other users from being able to edit the data upon distribution of the worksheet.
I have two columns with team abbreviations, one simply says whether they are AL or NL the other is the result of a search with multiple occurrences of the team name. I need to match the long list with the short and put the column header AL or NL in the adjacent cell.
I'm using Excel 2007
The last formula I tried was =INDEX($AY$1,MATCH(BB2,$AY$2:$AY$15,0),0)
The screen shot actually just part of the sheet copied since the screen shot look like a broken html page Ok I give up. I copy and paste a jpg it turns into code, I copy and paste the spreadsheet and formatting vanishes, I don't have a URL for the picture... I did look at FAQs and didn't find picture rules but I will look again. Meanwhile. . .
It's just six columns of data. The short list is in AY from AY2 : AY15 The long list is in BB from BB2:BB505 The column header "AL" is in AY1 and NL is in AZ1
I currently have a worksheet where I want to input a date (G2) and a rank value (H2) ranging from 1 to 4. The header value (B1:E1) corresponding to the date (A2:A4) and the rank (B2:B4) should be returned to I2 (currently returns #NA).
Using formula: =INDEX($B$1:$E$1,MATCH(H2,INDEX($B$2:$E$4,MATCH(G2,$A$2:$A$4),)))
which I found under: Find row, find value, then return column heading
However, the above formula does not seem to work with my date order or recurring data values of 1 to 4 over the 3 rows.
The worksheet layout is as follows:
Date
A
B C D
Date
Rank
Header
[code]....
The return value under Header should be C.
I have reversed the order of the dates and put sequential numbers in B2:B4 as plug variables and the above formula will return the correct Header value but I need the formula to work with the current date order and repeating rank values of 1 to 4 in B2:B4. Do not wish to use VBA.
I am working on a "3 worksheet" excel workbook. The first worksheet does not require any header.
I'd like to enter data into the second sheet (say cells A1 and B1), and use VBA to pull from those cells to generate the same custom header for both the second and third worksheets.
For example, I'd like the header to pull "# 123456" from cell A1, and "789" from B1 in sheet two, putting them in a centered header for both sheets two and three (same reference cells from sheet two for both, not new values of A1 and B1 from sheet 3 for sheet 3 header). I'd like to format in a way that looks something like this:
#123456
789
I'm currently running Excel 07, and was able to pull from a cell on one worksheet into that sheet's header but couldn't get it to span multiple sheets.
I use the following formula in excel 2007 (and it's working perfectly in 2007) but this formula does not work if I work with the same file in excel 2003 ...w why and what I have to adjust?
I entered exactly 113,876.92 in cell L16 I entered exactly 113,390.02 in cell L17 I entered =L16-L17 in cell L18 L18 incorrectly shows the result at 486.9000000000009000 (note the extra "9" after the 11 zeros). When I expand the viewable digits on L16 and L17, they have ALL zeros after the cents. (I went out at least 25 digits). I can't be the first one encountering this.
i just want to know what function will i use to return a header row as a result. I have a worksheet consisting of lists of images arranged in columns by subfolder; the name of the subfolder serves as my header.
Now, i have another list of images and i want to crosscheck this list to my worksheet to know where these images are located or in what subfolder/s are they included.
I searched and I keep finding something that's not quite what I'm looking to do so I think I'm missing something really simple.
Let's say that I want each cell in col b to be the sum of 5 plus whatever value is in the cell adjacent to it on the left (col).
I know that you can just write a formula in each cell like...
b1 will be =sum(a1+5) b2 will be =sum(a2+5)
... but is there a shortcut so that you don't have to write out the actual cell address for each one?
Meaning - is there a predefined name or something that represents the cell to the left or right so you can just use that instead, allowing you to just copy paste the same formula all the way down the column? Something like...
b1 will be =sum(left+5) b2 will be =sum(left+5)
... where "left" represents whatever value is in the cell to the left of that particular cell?
I am trying to concatenate entries into one cell so that when uploaded, the comma-separated contents will be treated as tags. copperberry sample file.xlsxSee attached sample file. Wherever there is a 1 in a row, I want to take the column header text above that 1 and concatenate it with subsequent text in the cell at the end of the row. See sample end result in cell J2. I assume I need an IF statement, but I'm not sure how to phrase it to collect all the concatenations needed. There are 200+ rows.
find macros to sort fixed ranges but not an entire column with existing header rows from 1 to 4.
Added to that is the need to keep the code compatible with Excel 2003 even though I have Excel 2010 at office (it's a file that needs to be "openable" in both versions so the vb code needs to be in XL 03.
Column currently starts at C5 but goes down to C47, at this point. But it's a growing list. Some of the rows are blank at the bottom, too.
Often I write the formula in the cell of an excel spreadsheet in vain, it does not work.
Excel only displays the formula in the cell such like = if(B2>2;2;0), and not the result.
Formula is correct, so I don't know why it happens. Most often this occurs when the formula is between worksheets or different excel files on the corporate server.
I am trying to write a formula where the column header of the row in which a value other than 0 exists, will display for each instance (row) where a value exists in an array spanning 3 columns. So the result cell could be any of the three column headers, or a combination thereof.
I started the formula in P2 of the GL Detail-2012 tab. File attached.
Here is what I started: =INDEX($M$1:$O$1,SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIF($M$2:$O$67756,))). Not working.
what I would like to do is view a cell result in my userform with out deleting my formula
It works perfect from the excel side but I just cant get it right from the user form side
Ok so cell D6 contains a vlookup formula. I want the vlookup result to appear in my userform. I can get this to work but it overrides the vlookup formula with the result. This means that when I go to use it again it just shows the same result. This is what I have:
Cell D8 has a Combobox with a list of names to select from
this is the formula in cell D6 =VLOOKUP(D8,B107:I754,2,FALSE) This retrieves the selected customers account number from the combobox. I need my userform to display the account number with out erasing the formulas because I will need to search for more account numbers after.
I have named the textbox in my userform Customeraccountb
I deal with a rather large excel database (the range is A1:AV168266) that contains customer information. Some of these various customers are affiliated with a group called "ascend" and I need to be able to filter all my list by every customer affilliated with Ascend. The trouble is that the word "ascend" can appear in 8 different columns and usually when it appears in one column it doesn't appear in the others and their can also be more text in the cell beyond the word "ascend". I want to create a formula that will simply look for the word "ascend" in any cell of a row and return a result I can filter by. I will be putting the formula in column AW and put it in all 170,000 rows of that column, that way I can just filter by a single column.
I've played around with combining COUNTIF with SEARCH and MATCH with SEARCH but nothing seems to work.
I am trying to use the status of Conditional Formatting to toggle on/off protection for a cell.
I have a cell with Conditional Formatting applied if the result of a formula is true. If the Conditional Formatting is applied, I want the cell protection turned on so a user can not change the entry in the cell. If Conditional Formatting is not applied (false), cell protection is turned off and the user may edit.
I'm stuck using Excel 2003 to auto-populate a cell.
I have a range of dates in five consecutive columns called:
Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 4 and Phase 5
I enter the date that 'Phase 1' starts under the first header. Once Phase 2 starts I enter a date under 'Phase 2', and so on to Phase 5.
Each phase is consecutive to the next so will always be filled in from 1 to 5.
I want to create an additional column called 'Status' that shows the Column Title of the last phase with a date in it. For example, if Phase 1 to 3 had dates but 4 & 5 were blank, "Phase 3" would be displayed in the 'Status' column.
I've tried nesting some ISBLANK functions without any luck.
When I drag my VLOOKUP formula down a column in Excel 2010, the return value copies the formula result from the original VLOOKUP formula result. For example, if the first VLOOKUP returns a value of 0.5, I expect to see 0.5 or 1 in the cell below that one. However, I get 0.5 which is not the expected result for the cell below.
When, I click the fx on the cells below, the expected return values appear in the formula result. After I click OK, the expected formula results updates and now appears in the cell.
I'm not sure what is causing this issue. My computer was updated recently from an old machine to a new one. I have never experienced this issue before.
I work for a UK charity and have a list of funders in an Excel 2007 spreadsheet.
One of the columns refers to the date on which a new application for funding can be made to that particular funder.
In many cases new applications for funding can't be made for 1 or more years since the last application - sometimes as many as 5 years later. How to get a cell to refer to the date that it contains.
For example, say I have in cell A1 "The Acme Funding Organisation" and in cell B1 (i.e. the "Reapply when?" column) a date of 01/04/2013 (British date format, i.e. 1 April 2013) then what I want Excel to do is to look at the date in cell B1 and if that date has been reached to highlight the cell red. That way I'll know that the reapply date has been reached & that a new application can be made.
Whenever she clicks on a cell, the cell to the right of it is also selected. When she tries using tab to move to a new cell, she can only move between the two selected cells. Same with using the enter key. As such, it is extremely difficult for her to modify only one cell, since she always has two selected.
The F8 key, as well as Ctrl+F8. However, pressing the F8 key only adds more cells to the autoselection, and Ctrl+F8 allows her to select one cell, but also highlights the cells around it, and when we tried to select other cells, every cell we clicked stayed highlighted.
Additionally, sometimes when she clicks a cell, it will just select that one cell. Click it again, and the problem is back. I haven't been able to determine any patterns to this behavior, and I know there is no problem with the input (the keyboard and mouse are standard-issue in our lab, and we keep them well maintained).
