Excel 2010 :: Unmerge Cells And Fill Down Values In Newly Inserted Column

Jul 9, 2014

I am using Excel 2010 and have the problem as shown in the attached file.

Input Sheet shows the Data I have at present
Output Sheet is the desired result.

I need a macro which should create an "Output" sheet by doing the following on the Input Sheet

1)Insert a Blank Column before Column A
2)Unmerge the Region Heading and insert the respective Region Name in the newly inserted Column. Region Heading will be in Bold Font.
3)Repeat Step 2 for all Regions
4)Delete the Rows which was merged.

Please note that the number of Data Rows will vary for each Region.

I have shown two Regions for explanation purpose only. There will be several Regions in reality.

The result is shown on the Output sheet

Automatically Fill Formulas In Newly Inserted Row From Row Above

May 14, 2009

What I would like to do is on a sheet when I insert a new row that it will "FILL" the formulas that are the row above it. For example I have cells A1-F1. On cell A1 there is 1, B1 there is 2...etc. When I then insert a new row I would like the row below A1-F1 to read. A2 = 2, B2=3 so it had a linear growth. I want to do this with my formulas so whenever someone adds a new line it knows to copy the formula as well but only in certain cells if possible.

What I want is that everytime a new blank row is created, the formula in the Days in Situ column is there as well (but obviously the cells update depending with which ever row it's in.. eg below formula is row 10.).

UserForm Cell Population Into Newly Inserted Row

Feb 28, 2014

I am trying to create a filterable To-Do List. My goal is to enter each item with a userform, which I have created and pops up upon clicking the "Insert" textbox. making the following macros happen:

1) I would like to insert the new item in a row at top of existing info, below the headers, with the populated information from the userform when you click the "Add" Commandbutton on the Userform.

2) I want to make sure any filtering is reset whenever a new item is entered so the list reverts to original appearance.

Find Highest Value And Populate Newly Inserted Rows With Unique ID?

May 8, 2014

I want to find the highest value in a column (MaxValue) and populate first blank cell in a column with Maxvalue+1. Basically, I want to provide each new row with a unique project number. First, I'm running a macro to insert rows which copies the formula and format from Row 4, the user enters how many rows he wants and the requested number of new rows are inserted below Row 4 (That bit all works fine) . I now want to find the highest project number that has been used in Column 1, starting at Row 4, increment the highest project number by 1 and populate the newly inserted rows with the new project number.

I have a couple of problems with code I'm trying to use: If the active cell in column 1 is highest value the code ignores the active cell, i.e. this works once, as the cell that I have just populated becomes the active cell and the highest number, i.e. the next time the macro runs I get the same number as the active cell.

Ideally, I'd like use the number of rows that the user requested in the macro to insert new rows to be used in this macro to provide a unique project number for each of the newly inserted rows. (The add new rows macros uses Dim NoToAdd As Integer, as the number of rows that the user wishes to insert). Although, I'm quite happy to run the macro several times to find and populate projects which have not been allocated project numbers.

Here's where I've got to:

Excel 2010 :: Color Fill A Range Of Cells If Specific Cells Not Blank

Feb 7, 2013

I am using Excel 2010 and basically i am trying to fill a range of cell with a green color if any value was enter in a specific cells. Example: I would like to fill range: A10:c13 with a green color (regardless of the cells content in this range) if a value was entered in cell C10 or C11 or C12 or C13.

I've tried conditional formatting but unfortunately I'll have to apply formatting for every cell and for a range of over hundred cells is not efficient.

Excel 2010 :: Formula To Determine If Duplicate Values Exist In Single Column (excluding Empty Cells)

Jun 29, 2012

1 workbook, 2 worksheets (or tabs). On tab 1, I want a formula/alert that tells the user if any duplicate values exist in Column A of tab 2

Tab 2, Column A, has Unique ID's (6 digit numeric values)

The user manually inputs the ID's on new rows in Column A

Row 1 is reserved and in use for something else
Row 2 is my header, so cell A2 says "ID"
Row 3-623 currently contain unique ID's

When the user inputs a new ID into cell A624, then they return to Tab 1, I want my formula/alert on Tab 1 to tell the user that they have duplicates in Column A of tab 2. I know the Conditional Formatting, but if the user copies in 100 new values, they won't necessarily see the highlighted cells. My tab 1 is my "checks and balances" and the last place the user is suppposed to look to ensure that they haven't created any duplicate ID's. If the user sees a warning message that says duplicates exist, then I'll tell them that they need to look at column A (for cells that have been conditionally highlighted).

One issue that I'm running into with the conditional highlighting is that I want cells A3:A1048576 to already have the conditional formatting - this way when the user inserts a value into Cell A624, then A625, etc they conditional formatting is already there. Right now with data in cells A3:A623, cells A624:A1048576 are all highlighted with the Red/Bold Red Font (which is okay I guess), but ideally it would be nice to not count 2+ empty cells as duplicates and I'll have to have my formula on Tab 1 not include the blank cells.

I DO NOT want to use the Remove Duplicates feature of Excel 2010. If I remove them I could be removing data in columns B, C, D, etc that belong to the Unique ID. I just need the user to be told in Tab 1 that they DO have duplicates and I'll train the user how to research this and fix it.

The reason I want to look for duplicates in the entire Column A is because the list of Unique ID's will grow over time.

Excel 2010 :: Absolute References Do Not Apply To Inserted Rows?

Nov 18, 2013

build a spreadsheet that reads information off of a Master sheet onto 4 other sheets. The hope is that by making changes ONLY to the Master sheet that the other 4 will update automatically.

And then we ran into the trouble of not being able to insert new lines onto the Master sheet without throwing everything off on the other sheets.

(I've attached an example.)

For instance, if I go to the Master sheet in the Test.xlsx attachment, I've left out Lima from the alphabet. So, I insert a new row onto the Master, switch back to the Formula sheet where it should (theoretically) just update the cells to display the new data.

Not so. The Formula sheet just skips the new A13 and keeps on going.

the primary one seems to be using Offset. Well, the coworker will be adding and deleting many, many rows over the course of the year, as it is a product log and we change our products often.

Excel 2010 :: Creating Multiple Tables In VBA And Referring To Newly Created Tables?

Jul 1, 2013

Using Excel 2010. I'm writing a macro that sets up a workbook to be used for estimating at the beginning of a project. In the code I need to create multiple tables (formerly known as "lists") in the workbook. Then later in the code I need to refer back to those newly created tables. Currently, the code that creates the table is part of a loop that creates the table on many different worksheets. The problem of course, is that I have to name the Table, and then it won't create a table of the same name on the next sheet. Then, later in the code, I need to make adjustments to the table that was just created before looping to the next sheet.

Is there a way to create a table without giving it a constant name? Or by giving it a name that builds off of other info in the sheet? For example, I would be good with the naming the table after the sheet name: "Sheet1_Table" or such.

Code:
Sub Auto_Open()
'
Dim sht As Worksheet
If Range("A1") = 1 Then

Spreadsheet Pulls Values From A Column When A Month Is Inserted In A Certain Cell

Nov 21, 2005

Our spreadsheet pulls values from a column when a month is inserted in a certain cell:

OCT is typed in B2 and in the column below it, from B10 down to B286, data (numbers) are pulled from the October column K10 through K286 using =IF($B$2="Oct",K10,IF(and so on for each month). IF Nov is typed in B2 then the same happens except data is pulled from the November column, L. The monthly columns from K through V are tied to and updated
from other sheets. As you can see the problem is that nested functions allow only 7 and I need 12, one for each month. I have looked at the VLOOPUP and the HLOOKUP but our data is not set up that way (tables) since they need to be exact numbers pulled from the monthly columns that are tied to other sheets.

OCT (B2)

OCT NOV DEC

10 2
NOV 11 (etc)

So if a guest is here say Jan 25 arriving after 9am, staying 2 nights they will have Lunch and Dinner on the 25th, BLD on the 26th and BL on the 27th. Since by default most arrive after 9 (miss breakfast), we can eliminate the checkin time for the breakfast calc and make the first one for the next day.

There might be other guests staying through that time period. The ******* would like to know how many meals they will need to prepare for the week.

Excel 2010 :: INDEX MATCH Only Returns First Value Instead Of All Matching Values In Selected Column

Jul 18, 2014

Excel 2010: I'm working with a sheet where I would like to get accurate results on the make and model of cars sold in a given week. The workbook contains several worksheets each representing weekly sales numbers for different vehicles.

The Make-Models tab has the lists used to create the drop-down selections.

The Sales tab allows one to create an ad hoc report on the total number of vehicles sold, by Make and Model. Cell B2 is named 'SelectedModel' and used in the formula found in column E, Total Sold.

Problem: When I select Honda, for example in B2 of the Sales worksheet then select Accord in cell B3 of the same. The results returned in E2, E3 and E4 are 2, 3 and 4, respectively, instead of 8, 3 and 7.

2 Honda Accords were sold on Monday and 6 on Tuesday of the same week. My formula is only returning the first matched value of 2 whereas I would like it to return 2+6, 8 for week 1. Same goes for other weeks.

Select any other make and model and notice the problem follows. I believe the error is due to incorrect usage of the formula or incorrect formula altogether.

IF(ISNA(INDEX(Week1!E:E,MATCH(SelectedModel,Week1!B:B,0))),0,
INDEX(Week1!E:E,MATCH(SelectedModel,Week1!B:B,0)))

Vba To Unmerge Cells

Dec 31, 2009

I have a question/problem on using Unmerge in VBA. I have a spreadsheet that in Column J has some cells/rows that are merged. I need to unmerge these cells. Not all rows have this merge, so I think there would need to be some sort of IF statement or something...but I'm not sure how to go about it.

I can say that if, for example, cell J19 is merged, it would be with K and L. Then maybe, J24 with K24 and L24 are merged. Then maybe J27 with K27 and L27....and so on. For the most part the sheet would have about 200 rows of data. But only would I find about 20 or so of these merged cells. I also have 19 excel files to do this to, or otherwise, I would just do it quick and dirty, manually-style.

As an added task, once the cells are unmerged I'd like to take the value found in cell O19 (same row as where the merge was found) and copy it into L19.

Excel 2010 :: VBA Code For Inserting Text In All Column B-cells Of Multiple Selected Rows

Jul 11, 2012

Software: Excel 2010, Windows 7

What is the VBA code for inserting text in all column B-cells of multiple selected rows?

I am creating a worksheet with a table containing various data related to orders of various materials (this is more or less data gathering from an older, paper-based 'system'). This table spans, columnwise, from A to D and expands downwards as more orders are added. The information in each column is: A=order number, B=type of material and C=material specs. and D=additional comments.

I've set it up so that the only thing I really have to do is to insert the type of material in the cells of column B, and the rest will sort itself out. Instead of having to insert a new row for each new entry and manually typing in the name of the material (these entries are often done in the midst of already existing data), I created several similar, macroed buttons for the different types of materials we use. These macros work by selecting the row of the currently active cell, inserting a new row and then add the name of the material in the column B-cell of this new row. What I am having trouble doing though, is to get the text-entry to work for a selection of multiple cells.

As an example, lets say that I would like to add 5 orders of "Grade A Steel" in the middle of the table - in the row above row 8. With the macro I currently have I can select cell B5, click the macro, and a new row will be inserted with "Grade A Steel" in column B of this new row. This action could be performed 5 times over, but would be easier if I could just mark a range of 5 cells, say B8:B12, click the macro and get the text/data inserted the column B-cells of all 5 of the new rows. So far I've been able to create a macro that inserts multiple new rows, but I've only been successful in filling the column B-cell in the first row leaving the 4 below empty.
