I'm making a custom BINGO board in Excel 2010 for a family reunion, so it doesn't contain numbers; instead it has words (like "has brown eyes" or "served in the military"). the first sheet is the board and looks like a traditional BINGO board with the same number rows and columns with a center FREE space. On the second sheet is the list of all the phrases I'm going to use, one phrase per cell, all in Column A.
In BINGO cells, I want it to use one item (phrase) in each box but NOT repeat within the board. I have the following code in each cell and it works EXCEPT, there is no code telling it to make each cell unique, so sometimes it may repeat.
Basically it would be a simple race. Containing 4 counters (blue, green, red and Yellow) and 10 squares each.
There would be 40 cards 10 blue, 10 green, 10 red and 10 yellow. Cards would be draw randomly and the counters move respectively. I would be thinking about starting with =RANDBETWEEN(1,10).
I have no knowledge of VBA/ macro but would welcome ideas with what formulas/ commands to use.
I have added some snapshots to show what I would be looking for.
Excel 2010.I'm using this code to print user's accessing a file:
[Code] .....
However as someone could just delete the printed user log in the Sheet2, and also you can't use this if you protect the sheet, which defeats the purpose.
I want it to print the log into a separate file. Can I add in the file path/name to this code somewhere?
I managed to make hidden sheets unhidden. However, after doing so, the first sheet stays active. How can I correct this? EXCEL 2010.
Module4:
Code: Function Hide_Show(MySheets) ActiveSheet.Unprotect Password:="****" Application.ScreenUpdating = False For Each ws In Sheets X = Application.Match(ws.Name, MySheets, 0) If Not IsError(X) Then
[Code] .....
Sheet WORKSPACE:
Code: [Private Sub Open_BusinessDone_Click() MySheets = Array("WORKSPACE", "BUSINESS_DONE") Call Hide_Show(MySheets) End Sub
I have like above 12 sheets (JAN-12 to DEC-12). I want to make a summary in new sheet base on bellow condition.
All the 12 sheets , data need to copy to new sheet & same time if Column "C,D & F" values are repeating in same sheet or any other sheets then that repeating rows column " H" values should summarized (only one entry should display in summary).
I have workbook I would like to auto save to PDF copy file in different location every time the original file is save maybe some VGA code is this possible ???
I am trying to create a simple dash board using only Excel and no VBA. What I am trying to do is I want to create dependent drop downs and link up drops downs that will pull out the required data individually or with combination of those two. For example, let's say
A column has Dates of transaction,
B column has Item name
C column has Units
D column has Month name
E column has Shifts (Morning or Evening)
I am trying to make a dash board that will pull total Sum of individual items based on
Only Date wise Datewise + shift wise Month wise monthwise + shift wise
I managed to create drop down list for dates, months, and shifts but i dont know the way how to link the individual drop down lists together to pull the data based on the selection. which function i should use here and how?
I have been given a task to create a line graph who has 10 categories and each category has 5 different values. I need to plot a line graph, so that those 10 categories should appear on the Y-axis instead of X-axis.
I am trying to create a form in excel that simulates a chess board, the code was quite extensive so I better separate it into modules, because the program suddenly began to close, how do I do that? being that I have all the pieces of a chess game and some strings and boolean variables with information on the positions of the pieces on the form?
VB: Private Sub A1_Click() If Turn_Player1 = True Then If Active = "Pawn_pr1" Then If Loc_Pawn_pr1 = "A2" Then
I have an Excel 2010 spreadsheet that I am using to save several numbers all in the same column. These numbers can range from the several thousands up to billions. The formatting I am using for these numbers is Number (using 1000s separator).
number_forma.png
I am also using the spreadsheet to generate a text string for each of the numbers. I don't want the text string to show the number as it is, I want to shorten the number by only showing the first few digits followed by a "B" for billion, "M" for million, or "K" for thousand. For example, in the text string I want to show 1,600,000 as 1.6B.
In order to shorten the number I use the cell in the column to the right of each number. This cell uses the following custom formatting (which I found by doing a Google search): [>999999999.999]#.0,,,"B";[>999999.999]#,,"M";#,"K";
custom_format.png
As you can see the formatting is quite complex (at least for me it is) but it does what I want it to do.
Here is a screenshot of what the original and custom formatted cells look like:
custom_formatted_cells.png
As you can see the custom formatting works and does exactly what I wan
The next column (after the custom formatted number) is where I put the generated text string for each of the numbers. As I stated above, I want the generated text to use the shortened version of the number (e.g. 1.6B).
To generate the text I use the CONCATENATE function with a reference to the cell containing the shortened number as one of the arguments. For example:
CONCATENATE("SOME STRING ", B1)
Where B1 is the custom formatted cell.
The problem I am running into is, the text that gets generated doesn't show the shortened format of the number, it shows the full number. Here is a screenshot demonstrating what is happening:
concatenate_formula.png
As you can see the generated text is "SOME STRING 1600000000". This is not what I want. I want the generated text to be "SOME STRING 1.6B".
I think I understand what's going on. When the CONCATENATE function references a cell it takes the actual value of the cell and ignores any formatting. (I suppose formatting is just the way you see the data, not how underlying functions receive the data.)
My question is, how can I re-write the CONCATENATE function (or use another function, etc. available to me) to use the formatted version of the cell?
*UPDATE* I have attached my spreadsheet as an attachment to this post (tackyjan_excelforums.xlsx). Please note that it was created and saved using Excel 2010.
I'm using Excel 2010. I have a spread sheet with sales data covering 3 years and multiple customers. I was able to create formulas such as this to calculate the figures for the entire sheet (all customers) by year.
I believe that in order to use filters that show this date for a specific customer I need to convert this to a SUMPRODUCT formula, I've tried this multiple times and had no luck.
I need to create 50-60 bingo cards for my sister's bridal shower. I wanted to create these using excel. I need to create unique cards so that not everyone bingos at the same time (I only have so many door prizes to give away!)
The basic setup is this: under "B" there are 5 spaces, and each space must have a unique number between 1 and 15 (no repeats). Under "I" there are 5 spaces, and must use a unique number between 16 and 30, "N" has 5 spaces using a unique number between 31 and 45, "G" has 5 spaces using a unique number between 46 and 60, and "O" has 5 spaces using a unique number between 61 and 75. A sample card is below:
I have a Text List (about 40 rows of Commercial Names) in a column. On 10 seperate sheets I make a 5 row by 5 column range (the Bingo Game) and manually copy one item from the Text List into one of the cells in the 5 by 5 range as randomly as possible until the range is filled. I've manually counted each item from the Text List's use, but it very time consuming when I add more items to my list. I'm looking for two solutions.
1. Is there a way to automatic the random distribution from the Text List into the various sheets on an equal basis.
2. Is there a way to count the number of times an item from the Text List appears in the 5 by 5 range and sum that for all 10 sheets.
I was trying to create an autobingo game for my kids which randomized the 5 by 5 grid. To do that I did combined a Randbetween and VLOOKUP to a table on a separate sheet which had the name of the object (i.e. "cow") in column 2 and a picture in column 3. Well, the VLookup will return the name of the object but won't return the pictures. Is there a way to get those embedded objects to move into my autobingo form? I'm thinking this requires a Visual basic macro.
I need to use a function that is not onyl random, but only uses a person's name on a list once. On a list of ten people, RANDBETWEEN picked the same person three times in ten key strikes. How can I use RANDBETWEEN but also make sure ever person's name gets picked ONLY once? This is for a drawing for secret santa.
When I use the =RAND() function, everytime I do anything within my spreadsheet the number changes. Is there a way to get that number to change after(for example) 10 refreshes of my spreadsheet instead of every single time I do something to it?
I have a workbook that calculates a RAND function based on input in another cell. Specifically, the formula in E2 selects a random text string from another range depending on data entered in D2. I want to be able to fill this formula down for use multiple times.
The formula works fine on its own, but the problem comes when I, say, move on to D3 to input more data. E3 does its random calculation as it should, but E2 also recalculates; I want E2 to remain static once it calculates the first time.
I'm attaching the workbook in question. The calculation I'm referring to is in the 3rd worksheet.
I run the company office pool / lottery. A person selects 6 numbers 1-49. Twice a week the provincial draw is held. if your number matches the drawn number i would highlight your number on the spreadsheet. When all of your numbers are highlighted, you win. This usually takes 3-4 draws to cover all your numbers. Ideally i would like to simply enter the drawn numbers & have excel automatically highlight the number next to each persons name if they have selected that number.
I have been using the RAND and Vlookup functions for the following without success.
I have 4 numeric Pools or Groups; 1. A1:A18 (1-18) 2. B1:B18 (19-36) 3. C1:C17 (37-53) 4. D1:D17 (54-70)
I also have E1:E20 (20 existing Numbers from 1-70)
I want Excel to select at random a total of 20 numbers and place them in F1:F20.
I will specify a quantity from each of the 4 groups. Eg. In cell A20 I enter 4 to obtain 4 numbers from grp 1, In cell B20 I enter 6 to obtain 6 numbers from grp 2, In cell C20 I enter 8 to obtain 8 numbers from grp 3, In cell D20 I enter 2 to obtain 4 numbers from grp 4,
However there must not be any duplicates between E1:E20 and F1:F20!
I am organizing a golf scoreboard for my golf tournaments. Basically, this is what I want to do:
I would like to rank the players that are entered by their score, in ascending order. Basically, I want to take the column for "total strokes" and organize the numbers so that it will rank the numbers that are entered. If there are no numbers entered in a specific row, I don't want that "zero" to be ranked in the list. So for example, if I have five golfers but they are spread out over 10 rows, I would still need to have five numbers in the rank: 1,2,3,4, and 5, not 1 to 10, as if it were ranking the rows that have nothing entered in them.
Is there a way to control the number generation. I would like to be able to run different scenarios with the same set of random numbers, then regenerate the random numbers and do it again. Right now every time I do anything in the spreadsheet, I get a new set of numbers.
i would like to write vba to fill a "chess Board" Matrix (8X8) With Powers Of 2... starting with 2^0 and ending with 2^63... (i suppose, click a button/icon and have the numbers fill in/populate...)
I am trying to send bulk emails from my excel 2010 - however I am getting a POP UP. find the screen shot in the enclosed word document So every time a new mail is sent from excel we need to press the button allow Is there a way where I can turn off this warning.
