Sort By Both Alphabetical And Numerical Order
Feb 20, 2009I have a spreadsheet for work that consists of various columns of data. One important sorting column would be Job #. Inside this coulumn are data like 134-Q and 2355-P and 755-P for example. The sort now is like posted. I would like to be able to sort by both alphabetical and numerical order. ie, 755-P, 2355-P, then 134-Q.

I have this formula in cell C1, filled down to C7:
=IFERROR(INDEX($A$1:$A$7,SMALL(IF($B$1:$B$7>=5,ROW($A$1:$A$7)-ROW($A$1)+1),ROWS(C$1:C1))),"")
This creates a list of cells from column A where the correspsonding value in Column B is greater than or equal to 5.
RESULTS:

1---B---1---E
2---A---2---D
3---E---5---F
4---C---4---
5---D---6---
6---G---3---
7---F---6---
Any way that would generate these cells in alphabetical order making it look like this:

basically the last letter is going through the alphabetical order. Once it hits Z it should go to AA, AB, AC . Just like an excel file.
If i select the first cell and just drag it down it copies that exact same cell value.

In column D I have some postcodes, and in column E I have areas. They are all with their according area, but I have them mixed up.
So: How can I put Column E in alphabetical order so that Column D shifts accordingly.
Example:
POSTCODE1 --- North West
POSTCODE2 --- South East
POSTCODE3 --- North West
I want it to shift them so it ends up like this:
POSTCODE1 --- North West

Now the line sheet is in alphabetical order but my boss now wants me to put extra designs in it, meaning i have to move everything around but with it still being in alphabetical order and keeping the same format. Is there any way of moving them around with out having to do it manually one design at a time?

Macro To Insert Letters In Alphabetical Order
Mar 24, 2009I was wondering if there could be a way for a macro to Look at the column i have in this example and have it end up like the ends up with tab.
I start of with the "starts off with tab", and manually enter letters till i get the ends up with tab.
Basically the macro needs to look at the column and see where the yellow pointers are. From here it should Put letters in alphabetical order starting with A, ( once it hits Z it should go to AA, AB , just lik excel columns are named after Z ).
SO where ever the yellow box is , it should have a new letter in alphabetical order, everything below the yellow box till a new box will be that same letter.
MY example tab of the column finished should explain what i need and help clear any problems i presented here.

Dec 3, 2012Work have just upgraded from 97 to 03 (very with the times ) and when opening multiple workbooks, 03 behaves differently.
With 97 I could select many sheets from the open window and excel would open them in alphabetical order. Now we've moved to 03, the order seems to be completely at random. It's a real pain, as the set up of the workbooks we use has everything linked together. In order to keep everything working sweet, various groups of workbooks need to be open at once. Previously it was easy to find a workbook in the task bar, but now they're scattered everywhere. We don't use a set list of workbooks - the selection we need to open varies quite a bit, but there's usually at least 20 or so.

I want it list the Names only from highest to the lowest from worksheet 1. If two Names have the same total then I want it in Alphabetical order towards who will be listed first.

Jan 8, 2014I have a question about using conditional formatting in excel (2010); I made a table with the following columns:
"Supplier Name" "Supplier Lead Time" "Internal Lead Time" "Total Lead Time". I made two different scenarios to show different supplier lead times and different internal lead times, and used the minimum function in the "Total Lead Time" column to find the smallest total lead time to select the best supplier.
The last thing I would want to do with this set of data, is plug in a formula that would somehow indicate which supplier corresponds to the shortest total lead time (which supplier has the smallest supplier lead time). I'd like to be able to use a formula that enters the name of the supplier in a designated cell, which I could indicate as the "Preferred Supplier" cell. If this is not possible perhaps there is a way to highlight the supplier's name with conditional formatting?

Nov 24, 2008I have a spreadsheet saved with one worksheet with all the results on it and 130 worksheets with calculations on them, each with its' own named tab along the bar at the bottom of the page. What I'd like to know is if it is possible to sort the tabs into alphabetical order so I don't have to roam through up to 130 to find the tab (and it's corresponding worksheet) I'm looking for.

There are 6 “could be more” blocks of data on Monday’s Worksheet, not all rows of each block will be filled. The idea is put the data from Monday WS in List WS without spaces and by alphabetical order. Because my English is not good enough, I attached a file with what I need.

Excel 2010 :: Summing Order Revenues Over Next Consecutive Calendar Days
May 7, 2012I am using Excel 2010. I am tracking client orders on a spreadsheet. I would like to offer a 60 percent rebate on revenue from orders placed between the first order date and 30 calendar days thereafter. On day 31 and continuing through day 60, I would like to offer a 40% rebate. On orders placed on day 61 through 90, I would like to offer a rebate of 20%. From all of the orders placed by clients who start ordering on different dates, I need to sum their order revenue in these three time periods. I have the individual client order data arrayed on my spreadsheet - one order per row.
I am capturing the unique client ID number (Column A), the order date (Column B), and the associated revenue (Column C). Keying off of their unique ID number, I would like to calculate the sum of how much revenue is generated in calendar days 1 through 30, days 31 through 60, and days 61 through 90 from the very first order date from any given client. The start date can be any date in the month, so I can not rely on any calculation that uses the calendar month. Orders are not necessarily placed every day. Multiple orders may be placed on any given day, and then no orders may follow for many days afterward.

Jul 11, 2012I have several long lists (each is 600+) of vocabulary words & definitions and need to alphabetize/sort the words, but need to keep the definitions w/ the words.
A1 = word 1
A2 = def. 1
A3 = word 2
A4 = def. 2
A5 = word 3
A6 = def. 3
Standard sort will alphabetize all rows & the words will be separated from the definitions. I could group rows 1 & 2 together, rows 3 & 4 together, etc. but that's clunky & time-consuming.
I'm using Excel 2010.

Jan 2, 2014I'm using Excel 2010. I have a spread sheet with sales data covering 3 years and multiple customers. I was able to create formulas such as this to calculate the figures for the entire sheet (all customers) by year.
=SUMIFS(J2:J12904,E2:E12904,">12/31/11",E2:E12904,"<1/1/13").
I believe that in order to use filters that show this date for a specific customer I need to convert this to a SUMPRODUCT formula, I've tried this multiple times and had no luck.
