Excel 2011 :: Macro Recorder Doesn't Record Fill Color

I am using office 2011 for MAC, and am trying to create a macro that changes the color of the selected cell(s).

if I start recording the macro
click the fill color button pull down and change the color on the edit section of the ribbon
Stop the macro

No code is recorded as below but the cell did change color to whatever I selected.

The colorIndex is automatic no matter what color I choose.

When I run the macro there is no change to the selected cell, but the border is destroyed.

I'm using Excel 2011 for MAC.

What I need is to clear and lock some cells based on a drop down list selection.

The case is like this:

In Cell [E14] is a drop down list : 0,1,2 or 3

Cells: (D19:E19), (D21:E21), (D23,E23) Merged are PART DESCRIPTION

Cells: [G19], [G21], [G23] are COST

So I need when 0 is selected in the dropdown list, all of the above cells are cleared and no input is permitted, Cells locked.

If 1 is selected, just the first row is allowed for data entry and the other 2 are cleared and locked as this values populate another worksheet for calculations.

So far I did this code:

I am building a code based on a command button in a row, which will check is a worksheet exists (message), if not create a worksheet from a template (from another worksheet specific to a on a cell value in the same row), rename the worksheet based on a cell value in the same row.

I am having some success for each task with exception to relative cell values .....

As the code will be specific to the row (one button per row) Questions:

how to i determine the location of the button that is clicked? (I assume once this is established i can use to pull values in the same sheet on certain columns....?)

I am looking to create a macro that will create a new sheet when data is added on a summary sheet. Example.

1. Summary sheet called "Variations" contains columns that will contain the information needed for new sheet (Columns A to D)

2. When data is entered on "Variations" sheet: Column B, then macro automatically creates new sheet renamed to e.g. VO1 (Number used on "Variations" tab) and is a copy of "Master" tab.

3. Data entered in Column A to D on "Variations" tab is automatically entered onto new sheet created (e.g VO1). Shown is blue on attached file. Additional data is updated on "VO1" sheet and this then links back to "Variations" tab

I am looking to find a way and synthesize code that will prompt the user for text data when he/she clicks a radio button, then place that text data in a "Notes" worksheet within the same workbook. Given that there are multiple radio buttons, with options of "OK" and "attention needed" (it is a checklist of maintenance items), I also need to find a way to have each note listed sequentially in the notes worksheet. I have been given a macro recorded on a mac and it works fine with Mac Excel 2011. Unfortunately, I need to make it to work on a windows machine, but it comes up with an error message "macro unable to set width property of the window class. Run-time error 1004". When I press debug it takes me to the line .Width = 1456.

Below is the chunk of the code that becomes highlighted when pressing debug.

I have recorded (i.e. manually as opposed to writing VBA code) a number of macros to perform a routine, however they do not work when I change the filename.

Could someone please advise on how to edit these macros (which reference a specific filename) so that they work when the file name is changed. The macros copy and paste values from different worksheets and then run another set of macros. However all macros and worksheets are located within one excel file

I've got a problem with the used spinbuttons. The code I used (see below)allows the user to choose a column (with the option button(A,B,C,D,E) in which changes would be made and than changes the value of the given cell according to the name of the spinbutton (which specifies the row). This forces me to use about 80 spinbuttons in a single sheet, and the whole workbook comprises of over 30 sheets pumping the whole file to a size of over 3 MB. To reduce the file size I need a code that would link a master spinbutton (one per sheet) to any active cell (the "just clicked one")

Basically, I have a large spreadsheet with basic data including names, dates and a unique identifier number (UIN). I have created a questionnaire in a userform (with a UIN txtbox) and want to link the answers to the specific individuals on the worksheet.

i.e. If UIN 201 fills in the questionnaire on the userform it will enter the details on the spreadsheet next to the details already entered for UIN 201.

once I get the pretty boxes and such, how do I link this form to a sheet to record data? How do I get it to run? I have tried searching the forum, but it seems that most of you already know that part and don't have any problems there.

I know this is probably very very basic and I will smack my face with my hand when you point it out. I just have never created forms with Excel before. I am used to using SalesLogix and when I create forms there, I have a database table that I can link each field to, so I keep looking for how to link to the table and I can't figure it out.

I am new to VBA programming so i might be making a obvious mistake. I am trying to create a macro that will insert rows depending on a cell value. I also need this to be executed from a command button rather then to occur immediately after the cell value is entered. So as a example

Lets say
Cell A2 has a value 20
Cell A3 has a value 3
Cell A4 has a value 5

when this data is entered and then a Command button poressed there should be

20 rows beneath cell A2
3 rows beneath cell A3
5 rows beneath cell A4

The sheet shown, Complaints, lists on each row information on a single complaint. This information extends from Col A to Col Y (though not that way here, the data actually begins in row 3). I want to highlight a Customer cell, say H227 for Customer A, then activate a macro that (1) recognizes the active customer (here A), searches the list, identifies each row where A is the customer and then writes each row into sheet "Event" beginning in row 4. I should then see the same A to Y cells of information, beginning in row 4, filled in sheet Event for the six customer A complaints. Note, the actual data in sheet Complaints involves 300 rows of data, and over 100 customers can be on the list, some up to 15 times. I know that I could do this by filtering the data, copying and pasting, but a simple macro would be quicker for the group of individuals involved. Note, I then use this information to populate a chart.

When I attempt to extrapolate and modify the code I get nothing but error messages. I've also looked through my two Excel 2007 books (each of them 1,000+ pages long) and there is no mention of this subject anywhere.

I am running Excel 2007. I have a multiselect listbox in a worksheet (not a user form). I want a user to be to be able to select multiple items from that listbox and when the the user moves out of the listbox (i.e., when the focus is no longer on the listbox), I want the selections to be copied into a cell on the same worksheet with each of the selections separated by a comma.

So for example, if the listbox (named "ListBox1") contained the following items...

North
East
South
West

...and the user selected both "North" and "West" from the listbox, the following text would get automatically written into cell A2 in the same worksheet after the user move outside of the listbox...

North, West

I know enough VBA to be dangerous (usually just tweaking code written by the macro recorder), but this one is eluding me. My two questions are:

1. What is the VBA code required to give me the result I'm looking for?
2. How would that code be called/where does it reside in the workbook? For example would I put the code in a macro and associate that macro to the listbox object??

how to write a formula that will leave a cell blank if nothing is entered. I do not want it to show a 0 unless the cell entered is a 0.

In cell G16 - I am adding U46 and U58 together.

I do not have a problem when it is 1 cell - my formula works fine. When I have 2 cells added together, the formula does not work.

I'm trying to find a macro that will run allowing the user to select a 'starting record number' and a 'finishing record number' when printing.

I have a spreadsheet that feeds from a master list in excel, from over 5000 records.

I need to print the s'sheet with any given indivdual record's information at any given time.

Individual prints are fine. However if I wanted to print from record number 1500 to record number 3000 it would take me all day.

Is there a way I can set up a macro so an option form pops up? allowing selection of "From record" and "to Record" ?

My form is working but which I want is that users should first fill up txtFirstName Text Box. Otherwise we will not able to do edit his/ her name in the last Name Text Box (TxtLastName).
