I'm attempting to put together a script which in simple terms finds the 'Highest and Second' highest activity and associated FTE for a given sub group.
To be more specific:
On the "Slide 1" sheet look at the values in column J starting at row 7 until blank;For each value, then search the "All Monthly Direct Activities" sheet in column C for the same value, excluding the 'Subtotal' rows;Where a match is found, compare all the values in column E for that sub group;And Find the highest and second highest figure;
Once these are found copy this figure and associated value in column B and paste onto the "slide 1" sheet.
I'm not particularly well versed in writing VB, but I've been working with the code to see if I can get this work, which I have been unable to do.
I have attached a file which may perhaps provide a greater detail than my description of the problem containing the 'Source' and 'Destination' sheets.
I have a list of names in one column and in the next column I have a list of numbers. The names and numbers go together. In anohter cell I would like to extract the highest number and the name related to it. The list changes often.
I would like to be able to put a heading saying that "name" (in anohter cell) made the highest score and the name is entered into a cell automatically.
Could any of you Excel bods please help me find the correct formula to enter in order to calculate the following reasonably simple sum:
3 cells with numbers, say, 1, 3 & 7.
I simply need to get my worksheet to look at all three cells and then calculate the result of adding the biggest and smallest number together. i.e. 8 in the example given.
how to highlite certain cells.
For instance, I want to highlite the highest value in certain cells (Red).
Example: Find max value E4 and E15
E5 and E16
E6 and E17
And also is there a way to have this happen automatic without selecting a macro. I want it to always be in the sheet1 when I open it.
Basically I want to get the highest value in a cell from a range of cells on another sheet within the same spreadsheet......
The problem is that the values in the range of cells I want it to look up are not just straight values but rather the summary of two other cells as follows:-
=IF(BN5<"",BO5&" - "&BP5,"") which means that the Values in the cells that the formula needs to search will read something like:- "1250 - B Builder"
Also, cell BN5 is where the archers 3rd highest score gets entered and as such only at this point in time do they 'qualify' for the Standings Table Sheet.....
Then, with luck I can look for the second highest score in the next cell down from looking at the same range and so on and so on.....
I have a cricket excel sheet that contains batsmans scores over a season. These scores are kept in non-contiguous cells for each game (ie. D5, J5, P5, V5 etc..) In the cell next to the score is an option for the user to enter an '*' to denote a not out score (these are in E5, K5, Q5, W5 etc.)
I can sort out a formula to find the highest score (from D5, J5, P5, V5) and place this high score in a cell elsewhere - but what I really need to do is to check if the high score is not out by looking to see if there is an asterisk in the adjacent cell, and then place the score AND asterisk in another cell.
How do i take the three highest numbers from E4:E5 & E13:E14 and add them together in E26

I have a data listed from A1 to G1. What I want to do is
Check out all the numbers written in those cells, take the highest number among and write to the following cell (lets say A3)

At my work we use excel to keep a large number of labels done in one day, those labels are then added up to give our weeks total, running total and average by day.
What i am looking to do though on a seperate sheet though is find out which day we had the most, an example of what it looks like

This worked but obviously puts the values in 9 different cells, my work would like it shown as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 in one cell.
Basically, I have a worksheet that shows test results for 6 separate tests. If an objective is met in a test then it is marked with an "X". If an objective is partially met then it is marked with a "/" and if it is not met then it is marked with a "." . I have now created a combined column where I want to collate whether an objective has been met at all across the 6 tests.
For e.g. if in the range H14:M14 there is an "X" then N14 should show "X". If there is no "X" but there is a "/" then N14 should show "/" and it there are neither values in the range then it will show "." .

If I use =MAX(A1:G1) I get the highest value. Is it possible to show the next highest rather than the highest and if so how?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI’m keeping tabs of some clay pigeon shooting scores. I go to alternate locations each week and normally shoot 100 clays, however sometimes it’s only 50. I’ve used MAX to find the highest score in Column D of a spreadsheet and it did what I required. However I now wish to find the highest number in Column D - but only include rows if Column C = P and column E =100.

In other words I want to find the highest score for location P but only if that week it was out of 100 shots. It would return 66. Then I can do the same formula for location A and it would return 62. I can’t see how to do this and have searched the forum to no avail. It doesn’t look like I can just use the MAX anymore and I’ve tried incorporating that into a (nested) IF but unsuccessfully.
need to understand the easiest way of highlighting the highest and lowest number in a range of cells several times in the same column.
As I said the cell range will be in the same column. So highlight the highest number green and lowest number red in cells a3 to a9 and then repeat the same process again in cells a11 to a17 and so on.the cell references are an example.
So I have several separate sets of numbers in the same column.
I have a range of 30 cells in a row. From that row there are groups of cells that have data that might be 1-7 cells populated in a row and in between these groups are blank cells in the row. I need to see what is the highest number of cells in a continuous row that contain data, what the mode is for continuous cell counts, and what is the average value for the data from the continuous cells. The average is a nice to have but not entirely necessary as most cell data will be fairly similar and I can get a close enough average just by knowing the average number of cells that contain data in a row. I have to do this calculation for about 1000 rows of individual data so its important a formula fit in one row.
Almost need a count function to count starting with each cell and then stopping at the first no no value it finds. Then it would show those counts and I could run a formula to pick the highest count and also show the mode of counts.
I will let the experts at it!, my weak mind could not think this one through. I thought something to do with MATCH for a while but no go from what I could do.
I need a cell formula that will (a) identify the highest N values in an above specified column range, (b) color the interior of those N cells (I suspect that this is not possible), and most importantly (c) return the average value of N corresponding cells, where the corresponding cells are located on the same rows as the identified N high value cells but in a specified column to the left (not necessarily adjacent)

I have a huge list of data. One or two cells in each row is colored. Is there an excel formula which i can use to get all colored cells at the end.

I'd like to achieve the above using built-in Excel functions, with or without sorting.
Column A in Excel has loads of numbers all in this format 971-417. I need to have each of those two numbers in a separate cell from each other(and without the hyphen of course).

In this case, depending on the selection made, columns D,G,J or M will have data in them. Only one can have data.
I tried using this formula to extract the data from the column with data but it does not work like it should.

- In column A, I have list of items that take up 700 cells (i.e. the text is in cells A1, A2... A700).
- I have applied conditional formatting to these 700 cells, so some of them are now highlight YELLOW based on a criteria (i.e. cells A3, A14, A422, A654 are yellow)
- I want to create a list of these yellow cells in column B.
I am not sure how to pull the value/data from a merged cells, which is common a value/data for the corresponding entries.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to make a macro for. It requires me to scan a column of cells worth of data (characters) for parts of what they contain and place those parts into a variable or string so that I can use an IF statement to place text in another cell.
I used to know someone who could do this via VBA, but I have been unable to reach him.
This sheet is fairly basic. The cells to be scanned are all in one column, they are all four digit numbers and I need to read the first two digits into separate variables.
Example: If the cell has "4101" in it, I want to be able to read the first digit "4" into one variable and the second digit "1" into another variable.
This way I can place text based on either one of those digits into the next cell over with an IF statement and can enclose it into a large loop to do the entire column.
I have set up a 'week of' calendar for a year. This allows users to enter data in a cell for the week. For example, the today would be displayed on the calendar, the 11th.
What I would like is, in a separate tab, to list (in list format) only dates with data entered.
How can I write a formula that checks a cell, and displays the data, but if there is no data, it goes to the next cell (to the right). In the new tab, I would like the data to be listed top to bottom even though the calendar is left to right.
It would also be cool if in a separate column in the new tab to display the date, but im not sure how because the calendar isn't of actual dates, but of a few cells on the top with the month, and the actual number is in the cell.
Right now I have this as a start, but it's not much...
