I am currently working on the attached spreadsheet...
As you can see, there are currently two columns (A and B) which refer to Date of order. Column B is generated from column A which I will eventually hide.
However, I want to split up the numbers in a copy of column A, so that I can have a column which shows year of order (i.e 2008 or 2009).
I could of course do this manually, but is there a fast way to do this?
Is there a way to automatically determine the final row number showing after a manual filter operation? Or maybe getting a list of the row numbers showing on the screen.
The project requires a macro that loops through only the rows of a filtered list, not all of the rows in the worksheet.
How can I filter a list of numbers in different currency e.g. in $, eur, yen for amounts with one or more currency?

I am experinacing some difficulty in using the Autofilter in the attached sheet. The workbook consisits of the following sheets:
Main
Contains a button taht crates data for sheet "Working Data" by filtering and formating data found in Raw Data sheet. The code behind it ain't preetty but it worsk. Raw data

Filter and formated raw data. After the VB code behind the button on sheet Main runs, I Insert an Autofilter on the coluimns of Working data. on column I ( Length ) I try and filter for rows were the value in column I is >= 35. Nothing shows up. I know this is wrong, just by inspection. I can ask for rows were column I is = 35 and get 1 rows. I can ask for rows were column I is = 45 and get 1 rows.
in fact I have Raw Data that comprises about 2000 rows but had to chop it down to meat board size req'ts:>
I have few numbers in Column "A". Few are normal figures & few are decimal numbers, like this:

Now I want to filter only the decimal numbers, so that after filter the result will show like this:
5.63
4.5
53.263
125.5
But I don't want to use any other column for doing so. I can do it using MOD in other column but I want the result in the same column.
I am trying to filter my excel sheet based on certain digits in a column of part numbers. The part number has 10 characters. I would like to filter it so that all part numbers where the 4th character is the number 5 or 7 is listed and where the 5th character is a zero. (i.e. R4X5831310 is a part number where 5 is the 4th character; I would like the filter to show this part number)

I have been all morning working on a simplified version of the tutorial from YouTube: Create your own Excel Search Pt. 4. But came back later so only then that I can not change the data:?
I found a great bit of Advanced Filter code that works great, and fixed a problem of clearing a cell breaking the filter.
But if I want to increase the criteria from 1 row to 2, so you can start to include And , Or operations, it breaks the filter. Even an attempt at a manual one fails, until you put the criteria range back down to one row, then it's fine again.
I've tried changing the Target Row to >2 but that didn't work. how to make the criteria range bigger, and no problems of breakage if you clear the cells? It makes for a very useful automated Advanced Filter.

I just got into the world of PowerPivot, Excel 2013 and Pivot Tables and am in the process of creating a Dashboard which I will then be uploading to SharePoint 2013.
On top of page I added the new timeline filter which I've linked to my pivot charts. Now what I would like to do, is create an additional pivot chart which looks at whatever date range has been used in the timeline filter and subtract 5 years from that. So, when I select a date range of November 2013 - December 2013 in timeline filter, the additional pivot chart will show the details for November 2008 - December 2013. This is where I get stuck.
I'm using two SSAS cubes which I'm combining together in PowerPivot and then display in Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts.
Can anyone explain why the unique filter does not produce a unique result - sample attached?

But as you can see I would like to customise is using a range of 2 values which i have specified in Cell P1 and Q1.
I manage to figure out how to reference to this cell, but Im not sure how can i put my ">=" and "<=" operators into my code so i can get it to work exactly how i want as shown in Code 1.

I have some columns on which I have a filter, with some columns next to those that have information in them.
What I need to do is filter only columns A-F when apply filter values, but keep columns I-K fixed as A-F change when they are filtered..

I am in the process of making a database more efficient and am running into a problem with sorting data. I currently am trying to use AutoFilter to sort the data. When I want to then narrow the results further using the same column as the critical and there is nothing that matches the critical, I get everything from the entire database that matches that critical rather than what I want to see, which, in this case, would be nothing.
I have attached a sample file. In it, when All AF 1000 is run and then Selected MAC 2000 Wash is run, I want to see no results instead of seeing all MAC 2000 Washes from the original data set. I can do it using IF/THEN but I am looking for a faster way to do it.

I have many sheets which I am using the advanced filter to filter the data to a single summary sheet. Everthing works great with one exception. I have cell comments added with relevent info to to cell values. When the advanced filter is performed the cell comments are not transfered to the summary sheet with the cell values. Is there a method to filter the data to another sheet and keep the comments?

Can a drop box on sheet 2 specifying tile size pull data or without drop box , I know the normal filter is the best option but trying to spoon feed the sales team since some are weak users, they would hardly know how to use the FILTER option.
Is there an easier way to use a column FILTER without using the very ugly AUTO FILTER ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm going to be using a spreadsheet to keep track of where different people are at. So if Person 1 is in Room 3, I will stick a 3 in the box next to their name and then can look at the spreadsheet whenever I need and see what room they are in. When I'm deciding what room to put a person in, though, I need to be able to quickly glance at a list of Room #'s and see what one's are still available. So I have a bank of Room #'s in the spreadsheet....1,2,3, etc.
What I'd like, is some way to set this up so that when I put, for example, "3" in the cell next to "Person 1" the spreadsheet automatically removes "3" from the bank of available Room #'s and when I delete the "3" because the person has left, it adds "3" back to the bank of available Rooms.
I have a mass of data which look something like this:

and I require the ranges of reference numbers to be listed in a column one above the other, which requires inserting new rows. I also need the date & description columns copied down into the newly inserted rows.
So basically for example I would want the top row to now read:
table removed
and then apply the same procedure to the other ranges below this.

How do i first format the numbers written in text into numbers and then show only the numbers in a cell minus the text?
This is what I need:
Columns B, C, D & E are all populated with 3 digit numbers.
I would like column F to automatically populate with any of the 3 digit numbers that share two numbers, i.e.
F2 might look like this (using 00 as the pair):
001, 040
F3 might look like this (using 01 as the pair):
701, 051, 110, 001, 120
F4 might look like this (using 12 as the pair):
123, 721, 281, 912, 112, 120
etc...
I have a text file with rows and columns of numbers ranging from 1-4 digits that I'd like to import/copy into Excel with each number being in its own cell. But whenever I copy/try to import, Excel splits all of the 3-4 digit numbers up into single digit numbers. The text file has 10,000+ columns (each number occupies two columns so I have half of that amount in numbers) and 300+ lines.
Is the file simply too large for Excel to handle or is there a way I can do this?
In the ID column of the attached excel file whenever I convert the numbers stored as text to numbers it results in a weird transformation.
e.g. an ID of 480610141001 becomes 4.8061E+11. When I do the same process in the name column, which has similar numbers, it will give the correct result following the same process.
