How can I FILTER a range and display the unique items, one below the other, WITHOUT blank cells - with only a FORMULA. What I came up with is shown in the attached WB. I would like to present the countries like in C11:C15.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAs shown in the sample attachted Excel spreadsheet, I have a UserForm set up to display 2 colums of the range "Elist" using a ListBox. The Userform is called by a Button. I want my UserForm to display subsets of the "Elist" range thus restricting the users choices based on the results of a Filter operation performed on the Elist range. I wrote some filtering code that does select my intended subset of "Elist". I then use the initialize event of UserForm to set the RowSource of the ListBox to "Elist" hoping to display the filtered subset of "Elist". However, the ListBox continues to display the full range "Elist", not the desired filter subset.

That doesn't count the cell with the content "option" and count correctly the other unique items. However I need to ignore any cell that contains the string "option" (with wildcards).
I found a great bit of Advanced Filter code that works great, and fixed a problem of clearing a cell breaking the filter.
But if I want to increase the criteria from 1 row to 2, so you can start to include And , Or operations, it breaks the filter. Even an attempt at a manual one fails, until you put the criteria range back down to one row, then it's fine again.
I've tried changing the Target Row to >2 but that didn't work. how to make the criteria range bigger, and no problems of breakage if you clear the cells? It makes for a very useful automated Advanced Filter.

This is a sort-of bizarre query I have.
I have a large array of data which I'm filtering out and copying to a new spreadsheet using an advanced filter. I have 2 filter criteria, one works... the other doesn't.
The second criteria is supposed to filter out rows that have blank cells in column C or D. I tried various things:
a. at first I tried following:
Column header: Name |Surname
Criteria: <>"" |<>""
b. since it didn't work I tried that
Column header: Name |Surname
Criteria: =<>""""" |=<>"""""
I also tried <>0 and <>null with absolutely no joy.
c. once I figured out that doesn't work either, I tried:
Column header: (empty)
Criteria: =OR(NOT(ISBLANK(C2)),NOT(ISBLANK(D2)))
now, the last one did have some effect, most of the empty-celled rows have been filtered out. However the filter persistently picks up ONE row that has blanks in column C2 and D2. I checked the data to check if the cell is really blank and it's as blank as it gets.
Obviously, I need help. It's been 3 days and I still can't figure out what's wrong with my filter. Is there a way of fool proofing the criteria, so that it will filter out all cells that are or appear to blank?
I have a list of about 200 companies in column a. Columns B, C, D, E, etc. list revenues for 2005, 2006, 2007, etc. The problem is not all of the years have values. Is there a way to filter out the companies that have a blank cell for any of the years? For example, if company 1 has a blank in 2007 can I filter it out, even if all of the rest of the revenues are filled in?

This shows all data over 90 that do not incl the words agreement or QTR in a column marked Note(s).
My problem is that I do not want to show records that are Null in the Note(s) column.

<> Does not work (possibly because it is text and not Numbers)
as this does work if used on records that contain numbers.
I have a spreadsheet which is used by users unfamiliar with Excel. They are using the filter to select records, however when this is used some records appear which have no entry in the cells of that column. Can I overcome this? There is no data in the blank cells, other than a data validation drop down.

I would have never considered this plausible. What is the magic behind appending an empty string to the criteria in the COUNTIF function?

Is there any way to allow autofiltering and sorting even with locked cells within the range to be sorted? I've conditionally locked some cells based on user input, and at the end of my vb code I have allowsorting and allowfiltering. But I want to sort cells that are locked even after that. Does anyone know if that's even possible with VB?

I've used simple VBA to prepare to standardise the raw data and refresh all the pivot tables with no problem
I need to filter the data to show spend for specific business units. I'd like to do this using a listbox showing the units where I can select the unit(s) to report on, which in turn will only make the units selected visible on each table in the workbookwith no other intervention.
There is another thread on here (showthread.php?t=55041) that shows how to use the list box to control 1 pivot table on one sheet but I can't find anything which shows me how extend this to cover multiple tables over multiple sheets.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have two pivot tables, both of which source the same sheet of data. Each record in the data has two fields, Region ID of person and Region ID of facility, that reference the same list of Region IDs via vlookup (it's just numbers 1-12). Either one or both can be blank. One pivot outputs counts by person Region ID, and the other, by facility Region ID.
Using a combination of nested IF statements and vlookups, I tried making a third Region ID field that could be used as a slicer to control both tables, but what I end up with is an undercount in one of the tables. The only thing that works so far to output the correct counts is having two separate slicers, the facility Region ID being the slicer for one and the person Region ID being the slicer for the other. If the end user wants to see counts for one Region ID, they have to manually set one slicer equal to the other. But what we want is just for the end user to be able to control both tables just by pushing a single number, Region IDs 1-12.
I can make one of the slicers hidden but then how do I get the hidden slicer to automatically select Region ID values equal to the nonhidden slicer? Alternatively, I could somehow program a combo box or list to control the two different slicers, then the slicers would be hidden and the user would see only the combo box/list. (I guess in either of these alternatives, I could just use a report filter instead of a slicer; either way, I still have to get items in one to automatically select based on the user's selected items in another).
FYI, some of the options I looked up involved PowerPivot, which I do not have access to. VBAs/macros are ok.
I need to write code to allow the user to select a range, and let the code filter out all the unique value once the range has been selected.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a very basic table of customers. In one column there is duplicate data. I guess in most cases an Excel user would only want to filter the table to show the unique records only. In my case I want to do it the opposite way round, to delete the unique records so I have multiple occurrences of strings that appear in that one column. I've used the "Conditional Formatting" trick, which is great = COUNTIF($G$1:$G$44000,G1)>1 highlights all of the strings that appear more than once. What I'd like to do from there though is to either just have that data, and to remove the unique records.
Either that, or.. is there some way to have a field/column which shows "True" or "False" if such a string has appeared more than once in a column. Auto Merged Post;I forgot to mention.. the reason I'd want a column of "True" and False" would be because then I'd have the ability to sort/group the data into all the recurring records and all the unique ones. I'd then be able to do away with the unique ones by just copying the recurring ones.
I have a long column of 9-digit numbers which represent the swipe-card-ID's of patrons accessing a parking facility. Most of them occur more than once, some of them many times. There is an operational rule that bars them from using the facility more than x times. (I can't implement this limitation in the parking software/hardware, or I would happily do so.)
So my question is, is there a way to process through that column, identifying each unique ID, and reporting any that occur more than x times?
