I'm trying to create a formula for text to columns if a SKU is put into a box.
Ex) I put code 5495307H7G-**--A into cell A1. I need to split it after specific positions, so it breaks into nine individual codes (9 cells) in the adjacent boxes.

I've seen formulas for searching for spaces and splitting, but is there a way to split one long code at specific points?
How to make a formula to convert a string of text like below. The first row is all contained in cell B2, the second in B3, and third in B4.

As you can see, I want to use text to column by "/" as a formula to basically have 10 cells autopopulate from C2-4 to M2-4.
I understand that people suggest using left, mid, and right, but to my knowledge it seems like this would only work on text to columns with 3 items. I have 10 items in each row that should be split by "/" .
I have prapared a formula for B2,B3 and C2,C3 and the reult came in B10,B11,C10,C11 and D10,D11,E10,E11.
From that relust i want to get the final result should be as follows.
B10 should again divided in to anil(in one cell) and 16/12/2013 11:33:50 (in another cell). This formula to be added in B10,B11,C10,C11 and D10,D11,E10,E11 formula.
I loooking for the final reslt, i have explain the in the excel. I reuired the final result with single formula from B2,B3 and C2,C3.
In the last column of this workbook, you'll see a cell that says "=D2". Whenever I type a formula into this worksheet, it doesn't calculate.
If I select that cell and do text to columns (making sure to remove any separations if it tries to split it), then the formula calculates.

I have three columns that each have a drop down of text options; column A has three options, column B has three options and column C has two options. I want to have a fourth column that will show a text value dependent on the combination of the three columns.
It ends up being 18 variations so my IF formula just won't compute.
This is basically the format I have and works for a few values then just chucks up an error when I extend it to all 18 variations:
IF(AND(A1="text",B1="text2",C1="text3"),"show this text",
IF(AND(B1="other",B1="other2",C1="other3"),"then show this", ) etc etc
Any way I can get this to work for all 18 possible outcomes??
I have a macro which imports data from a mainframe dump text file and performs 'Text to Columns' on the imported data so that formula in the spreadsheet can act on the data. The code works perfectly well when I use it, but if a different user logs on and performs exactly the same mainframe dump and import macro the Text to Columns action splits the raw data in a different way and the result is that the split renders the formulae useless.
I've experimented a little and for some reason it appears that the 'Field Info' parameters which are produced when the Text to Columns function is recorded in a macro differ between users even though the raw data is exactly the same.

I would like to rows based on multiple column conditions criteria. ie., if the columns N, O, P values are "", then hide the particular row. The logic given in the website here, i tried But, it is not 100% working. It works for a few rows at the start of the database & it works for the rows at the end of the database. In between, for a few rows, even if the column values are "" it does not hide those rows.

Ideally I would be able to insert a range function to compare the values in the column "ID 1" against the values in column "ID 2" and return the count of times that a value appears in both columns. Column A drop down selected is "possible"
then B coulmn should automatically populate "1-3"
C should populate with "3-5"
D should be "5-7"

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to write a micro code to split text which is copied into cell A1 into columns. I can do this fine by going to "data" the "text to Columns" and selecting the places i want to split the text (this is the same for every piece of data i copy in).
The macro works perfectly every time. the problem is that the spreadsheet is shared and i want to protect certain cells on the sheet, when i protect the sheet the recorded macro does not work as the "data", "text to columns" is not available in a protected workbook.
I was just wondering if someone could help me, so i can run a macro to split the text which also allows me to protect cells. In the "text to column" option the "fixed width" (column breaks) i choose are: 4, 25, 34 and 43.
I have a cell that has a comma separated value that is 354 fields long. As such, if I use the Text To Columns feature to split the data at each column, I lose several columns (because excel cannot have that many columns).
How can I break the data at the comma, but have it list in rows instead?
In Column A1:A10 I have a really long series of alpha numberic digits in each cell.

The problem I have is that after they go through this conversion all of the fractions in columns L are turned into dates....

To make it more tricky what if there isn't a consistent amount of data, ie sometimes I'll have Manager name (6 rows of data) and sometimes I won't (5 rows of data) and then the next collection of data will have it again.

I have some student marks in columns B to F. If some one get below 40 marks he fails and the subject in which he has been failed will come in Remarks column. If he has passed in all subjects remarks column will show Pass.

I am working on sales information which includes postcodes. What i need to do is seperate the first or first two text characters from the rest of the postcode. I have attached a small snipet of what i am working on. Currently i am using the =Left(A4,2) but this will give me in some case a numerical value aswell. For example E1 or G1 in the case of the sample attached. Is there a formula that exists where it will just return the text values in a cell and not numerical values.

All other text should stay the same and replacement text should appear in the cell of the text it is replacing. This is a sheet used by multiple people several times a day and so the Find/Replace option really won't work.
Have working on this for at least 6 months and it just isn't going to happen for me. I thought I could use a Conditional format, but that is producing no results either.
