In an Excel Workbook with multiple worksheets set up exactly the same way, is there a way to select all sheets and perform "group and Outline" functions. I find that when I select all sheets, the "group and outline functons are not functional.
I am using Excel 2007 with an extension from Adapx, Inc. of Seattle for electronic data capture and input.
I am trying to automate a process of inspecting and recording inspection data that has been collected and entered manually to this point. The data currently comes in as a variable quantity of 8.5 X 11 sheets. Some reports are 1 sheet; some are 7 or more sheets. In any case, the first sheet has all the ID information with some details and details of other samples are on subsequent sheets. When done manually, they are stapled together.
When done electronically, the report comes in as a series of worksheets. I describe the code I need as an electronic “staple” of a variable quantity of worksheets in Excel.
That is to say, I need to identify a group of worksheets as a single inspection report.
In order to make the plan work, I have the following idea. This is just my starting point. I am open to any ideas you care to share.
I need to have the current worksheet look at a specific cell in the previous work sheet.
If the value matches the value of the co-responding cell in the current work sheet, then copy the values of several specific cells into the current worksheet. This will repeat until the trigger value changes. It will increment by one. When it changes, I need to look at the next work sheet. If the trigger value matches the new trigger it will again copy the values from a specific set of cells of the current 'previous' worksheet into the then current work sheet. This sequence will repeat until there are no additional worksheets to process.
I Need the outline/group feature to work on a protected workbook with over 200 sheets, meaning a macro to cover the entire workbook not just a single sheet. This macro should travel with the workbook as it will be on many different peoples PC's
Private Sub Workbook_Open() Dim cSheet As Integer Dim tSheet As Worksheet On Error Resume Next cSheet = 1 Set tSheet = Worksheets(cSheet) While Err.Number = 0 Call wbProtect(tSheet) cSheet = cSheet + 1 Set tSheet = Worksheets(cSheet) Wend Err.Number = 0 End Sub..........................
I would like to do is to sort only selected sheets. Can someone give me this additional code that can be incorporated in the code below. (If I just select the sheets I want sorted and run the code below, it sorts all worksheets irrespective of whether it is active or not).
Sub SortWorksheets() Dim N As Integer Dim M As Integer Dim FirstWSToSort As Integer Dim LastWSToSort As Integer Dim SortDescending As Boolean SortDescending = False If ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.Count = 1 Then FirstWSToSort = 1 LastWSToSort = Worksheets.Count Else With ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets For N = 2 To .Count ................
I have a workbook that contains one worksheet with data. This data has 7 columns and is a database metadata report.
The columns are as follows:
Table Joined Tables Column Name Column Alias Column Description Column Data Type Column Length
From this data, I am looking to have a script that automates the creation of a new workbook for each unique value in the Table column (i.e. tablename.xls) and saves them to my local drive. Each workbook then would have x number of worksheets named joined table 1, joined table 2, etc that relate to the name of the table in the original Table column. Finally, each worksheet will contain the related Column data for each Joined Table as mentioned above.
This is ok but When close the workbook and reopen it, my sheet becomes fully protected and i cant use the group icons. Can anyone either suggest better code or a way to initilise the workbook to act in this way when it loads up. For Reference Below is my full
Sub ProtectAll() Dim ws As Worksheet sSheet = Control.Name For Each ws In ThisWorkbook.Worksheets Select Case ws.Name Case sSheet1 Case Else ws.Protect Password:="PASSWORD", userinterfaceonly:=True ws.EnableOutlining = True End Select Next ws End Sub
I have a huge worksheet containing Blackberries expenses of my company divided by multiple sections. Each section follows the following pattern: Example:
Client 222-5555 MY COMPANY NAME LCC International Calls - Call to Bahamas on June - $50,00 Local Calls - Call to NY on June - $ 30,00 Total Price - 80,00
I would like to select each row between client and total price and paste then on multiple sheets in order to create individual invoices. The selection must be based on the client number (for instance 222-5555) that is part of the cell value.
I'm currently doing a survey using an excel workbook that contains multiple questions across multiple worksheets using radio buttons linked to certain cells.
I have around 400 workbooks coming back to me, so what i want to do is take specific values from across many worksheets within each workbook and combine them into a large master table in a seperate workbook.
I've tried using VBA, but not being very proficient at it i've hit a brick wall with that, so i'm hoping that there is an easier way to do it than what i'm currently pursuing.
I have imported data into excel arranged as per the following and there are separate tabs per year. I a trying to summarize and phase the balances per client..i.e 07,08,09,10,11,12.
Therefore if client x balance in 2007 = 10, 2008=11, 2009=10, 2010=2, 2011=3 and 2012 = 5 and so on...then total the balance owed as of now and also phase it as illustrated below. I've tried vlook up's?
What I need to do is group and collapse certain columns when Cell D4 in my Date tab reads Bud. If it doesn't read Bud, I need it to ungroup those columns and group and collapse other columns.
So for example: If I have 6 columns (A - F), when Date tab cell D4 reads 'Bud'. I want to group columns A and B, and only show C-F. If the cell doesn't read Bud, I want columns A and B to be ungrouped, and Columns E and F to be grouped and collapsed.
I've been racking my brain, using the Record Macro and just cannot get it correct. Granted I have created something similar to HIDE my columns, however I need it to be grouped so that higher management can ungroup to see some details if need be.
Code: Sub GroupColumn() Dim s As Worksheet For Each s In ActiveWorkbook.Sheets(Array("Name1", "Name2, "Name3", "Name4")) If Worksheets("Date").Cells(1, 4).Value = "Bud" Then
I am trying to write VBA code that groups cells between blank rows and inserts a message if a string of text (a name) is missing from the entire group. I want the code to search cells in column A and group the cells between blank cells. Use the name I input in an input box as the search criteria and insert a message in the Column C next to the last blank cell in the group and then move on to the next group and highlight the cell in red with bold text. I am including a spreadsheet with an example of what the sheet should look like before and after the code is run.
I have date fields as column labels in a pivot table. When I try to group them I'm only given the option to group by integers and not by months, years etc.
I've had a look at the format settings of the column and they are formatted as date fields.
I am trying to find the top two values per group based on multiple criteria. The list I'm working with is not sorted and would be better for it to not have to be sorted as on-the-fly sorts will likely often occur from the raw data and I wouldn't want that to mess up the results I'm looking for here.
As an Example, here's what I'm trying to do:
Make Model Rating Ford Bronco 64 Chevy Corvette 94 Dodge Intrepid 83 Chevy Chevette 34 Dodge Viper 72 Ford Escape 21 Ford Expidition 53 Chevy Impala 67 Ford Fairmont 11 Dodge Dart 33
I have a smaller spreadsheet with 40k rows/34 columns of data. Column A has serial numbers and does contain duplicates. The rest of the columns have varying data pertaining to those serial numbers. I'm sure there is an easy way to do this, however I have just not had enough coffee today because it is not coming to me. Here is an example of the data (not all columns obviously) and I put in ZZZZZ for each blank cell in the table and each space you see is the column break just for visual because I couldn't get it to paste here and have the staggering that it is doing.
See the laddering effect that is going on? When the data was imported into excel it created a new row for every value. What I need is all of the values in the same row EXCEPT if there are two part numbers referenced for the same serial number. In that case I would want two rows of the same serial number showing only the part number, description and two dates for that serial number in each row.
Would like it to be like this (for the above data): 12345678SNABCPARTHARDDRIVEFALSE8/26/20119/24/2012FALSE 87654321SN123PARTPRINTERFALSE8/26/20119/24/2012FALSE 87654321SN987 PARTTONERFALSE1/1/201312/31/2013FALSE
Quick note, each serial number does NOT always have the exact same amount of repetitive rows. So there aren't 10 rows of 12345678, 10 rows of 87654321, 10 rows of 12345679, etc. They can be different. I do not have the original xml file used to import or i would just reimport it correctly this is all i have to work with.
I have several groups of data in the same sheet. Each group has two blank rows above the first row of data. Each group has column "B" in common (e.g., "Phone" in the example attached). I'd like to add a title/label of "Phone" to the first column in the row immediately preceding the first row of data for that group.
I am trying to develop a formula that will tell me whether an account has both Medicare and Medicaid or Medicaid HMO insurance. An account can have one or more lines, and one or more insurances. I manually completed the sample file in column 'D' (see attached) to come up with the desired output. The criteria is below:
-If the account has Medicare and Medicaid financial class, then it is a '5'. -If the account has Medicare and Medicaid HMO financial class, then it is a '6'. -Otherwise, it is a '0'.
how to use the group box to group a number of option buttons together.
Question is, lets say, i have a total of 4 group box. if i want it to work in such a way where by once 2 option buttons are being selected (1 option selected from each group box), the rest of the option buttons in the 4 group box will be greyed out. is that possible?
I have an Excel Spreadsheet (2007) that contains over 500,000 records that shows Electric meter usage per month over a 24 month period per meter. What I want to be able to do is to select a meter row per number and copy is to it's own worksheet. At the end - I want to be able to have a seperate worksheet per electric meter number - that I can create a graph. If I go through all 9000 meters and copy and paste into a different worksheet - it will take me weeks to do manually. How can I do this automatically?
I need a macro that would consolidate all data in multiple worksheets of multiple workbooks in one Master file.
All the workbooks will be in one particular folder. The macro should search for data in all the workbooks and consolidate it in one master excel workbook.
I am currently using both excel 2007 and excel 2010. This macro would really reduce manual work as currently consolidating data from 45 to 50 sheets takes an ample amount of time...
I have attached a test workbook excel 2010 (ignore ref# errors, I've cut the workbook down for uploading purposes) What I would like to do is have a 'Button' on my 'information Sheet' which when clicked would clear certain cells. I have searched the forum but can't find a solution, everyone seems to want to delete rows or columns but I just want to clear certain cells. The workbook will have 11 sheets each named 'caravan 1' through to 'caravan 11' The uploaded test workbook only only has 3 sheets.
On 'caravan 1' (which is slightly different to the other 10) I want to clear the content of cells
On all other 'Caravan sheets' I want to clear the contents of cells
D4 & D5 E4, E5, E22, E23, E41 & E42
It would be icing on the cake if it could give a warning such as " are you sure you want to clear these cells" but that isn't really necessary. The worksheets will be password protected, but the cells mentioned above will not be. If it proves too difficult to clear all the cells on all the sheets with one click, then perhaps a simpler solution might be to have a button on each sheet instead
I'm making a Excel list for trading cards (MTG) and I've divided it into different worksheets in order to sort it by the color of the cards (not really important I guess).
The issue I have is that I want it to copy certain columns (in this case C3:C1000, F3:F1000, G3:1000 ) from almost all of the worksheets into a new worksheet where it should paste them into column A, B and C.
In two of the worksheets it's also different (C3:C1000 , G3:G:1000, H3:H1000).
I've seen many where you copy one range from multiple worksheets, and that would've been okay I guess if not those two worksheets were different. I'd prefer not to change them, and I'd also prefer if I could've gotten just the information I needed also. Is this possible to do?
I'm trying to email multiple worksheets from a list to multiple recipients in a list, but in one file per person. In a sheet called "Email list", for example, I have a list of 50 worksheet names (e.g. one for each cost centre) in column A (with a heading in cell A1, if that's OK, so the list starts in A2) and in columns B-F up to 5 recipients for each worksheet (e.g. 3 recipients might be 2 supervisors and their manager).
Also, each manager and supervisor might also receive several sheets.
Although columns B-F are presently free-format (they can be anyone's email address, regardless of whether they're a supervisor or manager), it might be easier to split these columns so B,C,D are supervisors emails and E,F are managers, if that makes it any easier creating the collated file of worksheets..?
Unfortunately the recipients might change occasionally so they can not be hard keyed into the macro itself (which would be much easier), but need to be in a table so it's easier for the user to update and maintain - in the past, I've managed to hard key the requirement into a macro which I've maintained (by recording and editing the macro), but I don't know the VB to figure this new request.
Ideally, I am trying to create a macro that can collate the various worksheets each person will receive and send the selected sheets in one file to that recipient, rather than multiple files within one email and/or multiple emails.
I have an excel workbook with 8 worksheets. Each worksheet has vertical columns (approx 250 columns per sheet) of numeric data. Is there a function or macro that will combine all of this data into one vertical column without having to individually cut and paste each one into the new column?
In Col X of the attachment, I have manually entered the count of the rows within each sub group, as determined by the counter in Col W. How can I do this automatically? I need this because when I filter the spread sheet by Rank, I need to know how many selections, of the filter Rank query, were in a sub group of ? number.
I would like to append multiple workbooks with multiple worksheets in a separate workbook. For eg. I have workbook "A" with sheets 1,2,3 and workbook "B" with sheets 4,5,6. Now I want to append "A" and "B" to create workbook "C" with sheets 1,2,3,4,5,6.
I have a folder - U:30000 - that contains a number of identically layed out workbooks. What I'm trying to do is, in each, change a number of cell values. Where dominicb's solution to the previous problem didn't work for me, however, is that I need to change cells in multiple worksheets. The cells are specifically:
On worksheet 'Construction': C3 (which is a date), D3 (which is a text value); on worksheet 'FF&E': D3 (the same text value as D3 on 'Construction'. Unfortunately, whoever initially set up the workbook didn't have the foresight to link it!)
