Hide Specific Rows When Certain Value Chosen From Cell Drop-Down
Feb 22, 2009
Basicly I used conditional formatting and lots of "IF".My solution lacks in style and it's time consuming ..
Long story short: I need to modify the way some cells are displayed based on the selection in a specific dropdown list.
I need that whenI select Task3 from the dropdown list next to "step1: please select" , everything from row 15 to row21 (both 15 & 21 rows included) and from row 23 on, to disappear.

Cell A1 can be left blank or have any value 1 to 99999 inserted by the user. Default value is null. My data starts on row 5 and currently goes to row 62, but will include more rows over time. I want to automatically hide rows 5 to 62 (and higher later on) where the value in Column C (C5, C6, C7, etc) is less than or equal to the value in A1 as long as A1 isn't null. If A1 is null, then no row hiding would be done. Ideally would be great to have msg also that says "No rows hidden" or "10 rows hidden", but not critical - just nice to have if you can provide such easily and quickly otherwise I'll just try to learn it later on.

I need VBA code to do the following:
When cell H2 = "Weekly", I need cell I2 to return "50".
When cell H2 = "Bi-weekly", I need cell I2 to return "25".
The value in Column I should change as soon as the value in Column H changes.
NOTE: The value in Column H is chosen from a Data Validation List.
I'm assuming offset is the best option?

I have a macro in which i can enter the rows i want to hide.
If i want to hide "position 32" i have to enter the number 8 of the row. This works fine. But now if i want to hide the "position 32" from Sheet1 it also should hide the rows 4-8 from Sheet2 [Data with 32].
Or if i hide "position 34" in Sheet1 [row 10] it also should hide the rows 14-18 in Sheet2.

I have a shared worksheet that has many rows of data... but only certain rows are relevant to each specific users. I would like each user to be able to select their name from a drop-down list in order to have all rows that are not important to them be hidden. I can put the name of the user in column 'A' in each row they need to see, but how could I make all rows that do not contain their name in column 'A' hide? In other words, if 'Bill' is selected from a drop-down list, only rows that contain 'Bill' in column 'A' would be seen.

I have sheets named exactly the same as the entries of a listbox. Now I want excel to copy the value located in e35 in the worksheet previously chosen.
I tried th efollowing, but this doesn't seem to work. I simply recorded a macro doing what I wanted it to do (orange) but replaced the reference to the sheet with what I thought would be the choice the user made (green)
Do While continue = vbYes
UserFormware.Show
Cells(16, 4) = UserFormware.ListBox1.Text
Cells(18, 4) = UserFormware.TextBox1.Value
Sheets("UserFormware.TextBox1.Value").Select
Range("E35").Select
Selection.Copy
Sheets("Calculator").Select
Range("E35").Select
Selection.Paste
If UserFormware.ListBox1.ListIndex = -1 Then
MsgBox "You must select an item"
End If
Unload UserFormware
continue = MsgBox("Do you want to add another warehouse?", 4)
Loop

City
01
Express
02
Overnight
03
So "C" would return 01, "E" would return 02 and "O" would return 03.

In Cell O9, I input the “Enter Term Of a policy”, which ranges between 1 and 50.
In Cell O10, I input the “ Fixed premium per year (Yes / No ) “ , where the answer is either Yes or No.
If the input in O10 is Yes, then rows 31 to rows 82 should be hidden as those are the rows, where I input irregular premiums.
Now I want the following …..
If the value of O10 is Yes, then rows 31 to 82 should be hidden ...

the attached spreadsheet is designed to record the number of days off workers have in a week. The drop down menu gives you choices to record the reason why a worker is absent but what I can’t do is total the number of days absent in a week as its words used to describe the absence and not numbers. If any one could assist me to total the days. I have attached an example which should explain the problem in a clearer manner.

I have about 10 rows of data that have columns of information describing computer hardware and pricing. There are 10 rows, because each row represents a different country and different tax rates and pricing changes per country. So each column of a row has a specific formula to calculate information for that row's country information. All these 10 rows of formulas are kept as a reference at the bottom of the sheet.
At the top of the sheet I need to have a drop down menu to choose a country and then it will automatically copy and paste the row of that country to the current row at the top.
Is there any easy copy/paste macro for such a thing?

Scenario: I have 5 different tables, all having the same headers. The values under are Vlookups.
Objective: Create a dropbox that lists (Table 1, Table 2, etc.) For whichever table is picked, is the one that will show.
For example, if I want table 1 to populate, I would chose table one in the drop box and so on for the rest of the other tables.

I am attempting to run a macro that will make conditional formatting I have applied permanent, and then remove the conditional formatting from the cell. My application for this is a master fantasy football cheatsheet, with multiple columns of the same player names ranked in different orders. When a player is drafted I type their name in cell A1, and conditional formatting is setup on so that name (presumably once in each column) will be highlighted/bolded/etc. For example, if I typed "LaDainian Tomlinson" in cell A1, I would be able to find his name in each list/column (from the conditional formatting that will make it stand out), and then run the macro to make this formatting permanent (show he has been drafted), and remove the conditional formatting code, leaving the effects. I found a macro online to do this at the following link, but am having some issues:
When I run the macro on any cells not containing conditional formatting, I get the message: "The formatting based on the conditions in the range (whatever is highlighted) has been made standard for those cells and the conditional formatting has been removed."
This messsage is precisely what I am trying to do, however, when I run the macro on a cell with conditional formatting (when it would actually be beneficial), I get "Run-time error '13' Type Mismatch"
When I go to debug, the error appears to be on the line
If CDbl(rng.Value) = CDbl(FC.Formula1) Then

I am a trainee dermatologist. We undertake allergy patch tests. There is a long list of different patch tests which are selected based on the patients history. I have put each of the types of patch testing on a master sheet. What I would like to be able to do is to have a control button next to each set, and when clicked would add that particular set to a "new patient" worksheet tab. And with every set having its own button, more than one set could be added to a new sheet. In the new patient worksheet id like the sets added with a single row gap between them.
I had tried, and managed to get a single series to work, but then it wouldnt allow me to add the next set, saying that sheet already exists. Ideally finally, id like there to be some way, or message to make sure after printing the new patient worksheet gets deleted.
I hope that all makes sense ! Even if I had a code for a single button that added to a master sheet at the next available row +1 I think I could manipulate the code to suit.

I am attempting to populate a row of several cells on a worksheet using a drop-down list, using data from a seperate worksheet in the same workbook. The worksheet containing the data will be hidden (I do not think that matters in this case). Do I place a VLOOKUP function in the first worksheet cells? see attached sample
DropDownSample.xls
As a follow-up question, as time goes by, the data in the source worksheet will be appended with new items (additional rows of data). As each new item is added, will I need to edit the formulas, or is there a way for Excel to dynamically add the new data? This might be stretching my wish list a bit but I thought I'd ask.

i am making a simple complaint tracking system and there is a column where there are two choices Resolved and Unresolved if you choose resolved it copies the row to the resolved sheet and if it's unresolved it copies the row to the unresolved sheet. i attached a template to give you an idea, i want the first complaint to be copied to the resolved sheet and second one to the unresloved sheet, i don't want the status column which contains the choices to be copied to the other sheets, also the unresolved sheet doesn't have a 'date closed' column because the complaint is not yet resolved so i dont want it to be copied there, i want it only in the resolved sheet.

For Each Sheet In Worksheets
If Sheet. Name <> "CoverPage" And Sheet.Name <> Sheets("CoverPage").ComboBox1 Then
Sheet.Visible = False
Else: Sheet.Visible = True
End If
Next Sheet
End Sub
It works if I step through it (F8) but the ComboBox doesn't work. It's named ComboBox1, and in the properties the ListFillRange shows all of the names in the list in the ComboBox correctly.

I am hoping to create a drop down list of months in one sheet, and when I select a certain month, columns in about 10 other worksheets in the same workbook will either hide or unhide columns...
The spreadsheet is laid out with columns (C-N) for each month in the year, for actuals, then columns for budget and budget variance (O-P), then YTD Actual, YTD Budget and YTD Variance. When I select September, for example, I want October-December to hide, and leave Jan-Sep unhidden, while keeping the budget, YTD and variance columns.
Is there a VBA code that can achieve this?

I need to import some spreadsheets that are sent to me into a master database spreadsheet. I have attached both below. The complaintstest.xls is the master database and the other is the sheet that will be imported. What I would like to happen is when the macro is run, the user will be able to select the sheet they would like to import through a dialog box. After the sheet is selected the macro will import the cells from the selected sheet into the master database in a particular order. In the master database example on row 2 I have listed the columns from the sheet to be imported in the corresponding column on the database sheet. This will macro will be run a couple of times a week so the macro will have to find the next empty row to start the import on.

I have a row in a table from columns C to CZ. All the cells in the row contain a formula, between 1 and 204 cells in the row will have a value (i.e. will not be blank).
The cells with a value will start at column C and may or may not have a blank cell before no more values and blank cells to the end (Col GZ).
Example:
C D E F G H I J K >..........................GZ
23 34 67 74 2 34 6 2 56 all blank ("") to end
or:
C D E F G H I J K >..........................GZ
23 34 67 "" "" 34 6 all blank ("") to end
I need to hide the entire columns when the cells in this row are blank but NOT if the blank cell has valued cells after it (i.e. do not hide columns F and G in the second example.
I can do this by looping back from col GZ and hiding the columns one at a time, which is very slow. I am stuck on the code to select all the relavent columns and hide together.
