Is there any formula that I can use when working with a specific date range and if someone's birthday falls in that range a certain text or value would be displayed? For example I want to create a spreadsheet for my soccer players and have them sorted into teams according to their birthdays. So if their birthday falls into the following date range: 08/01/05-07/01/07 a U-8 or U-10 would be displayed in the corresponding cell. I tried working with the IF function.

I am trying to come up with a formula that will return a total average from two columns of dates with criteria. The range will need to cover an entire column as my data is continuously growing and the criteria would have to limit the start date to each month. I have tried

I have got a table with data from 2005 to date, (for example) For the purpose of what I am doing I need a column which shows date ranges between September 2005 - August 2006 to show as 2005/2006, then September 2006 - August 2007 to show as 2006/2007. I have done some research and seen that, Potentially, a nested 'IF' can be used but it can only be used 7 times which would cause a problem going forward....
Is this the only way or is there a better way (without using VB)?

I am trying to have the calendar in the second tab of the attached excel file to auto populate based on info in the first tab.
In the first tab, there is the start and end dates of certain projects. The calendar will need to only show the project name of every project being worked on that specific day.
Some days will have more than one project being worked on, the Calendar will just need to list them all under that day. The Start and End dates count as days the project being worked on as well. We will also need the calendar to auto update whenever we modify the dates in the first tab or add/remove projects (rows).
I am having difficulty calculating the number of total overlapping days between several date ranges (6 of them to be precise)

I really can't wrap my head around the idea of calculating overlap (in network days) between six date ranges and was wondering if any of you would have a solution to this problem.

I have used the below formula found from the earlier post but need to add a condition calculating the days for each item.

how I can highlight the rows starting from a specific row based on a date? Like in the attached example I would like to have a formula that highlights the rows (35) all the way down based on the date (B1). I was trying the conditional formatting, but it did not work for me.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI found this spreadsheet on here and I have been trying to customize it to what I need. I am trying to have scores from skins match highlighted. I want only the minimum score to be highlighted but if there is another duplicate minimum score I don't want it to highlight anything. I also need to find a way to count the skins won by each player and have it off to the side.
For those not familiar with golf a Skin is a game where you try to get the lowest amount of strokes on a specific hole. Ex- 4 people play the hole one. P1 scores 4, P2 gets a 3, P3 and P4 get 6. The skin would go to P2 who has the lowest score on that hole.
Highlight lowest number in each column not highlighting if there are duplicates starting at L6 down to L11 and for each column till AC. And the same for the group just to the right on attached file.
On row 13 and 14 it tells me who won a skin. I want to tally up the total skins won by each player. so if Joe's names shows up twice on R14 I want it to tell me somewhere in the sheet Joe = 2
how to do the formula for highlighting whole row after entering a date in one of the columns.this spread sheet had over 300 rows so I can't do the conditional formatting, I need a formula for whole spreadsheet.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI need to create formulas that reference a single date and output date ranges. The objective is to have a person input a Monday date in any given month and receive a four weeks out worth of dates and ranges. For example: In a lone cell, the person inputs 10/13/08. Automatically, the sheet produces the next full week range: October 19 – October 25 in a single cell and also produces a cell for each date. Example: Sunday 19, Monday 20, Tuesday 21, etc…. It should look like:

10/13/08
October 19 – October 25
Sunday 19
Monday 20
Tuesday 21
Wednesday 22
Thursday 23
Friday 24
Saturday 25
and then repeat for three more weeks. I thought I had it figured out until the month changed. The dates continued in October instead of adding a month. This report will be ran weekly, so simply adding a +1MONTH to some cells will not benefit me as I’ll have to change the formula every week. I want the formula to compute the data without any manipulation over the next several years. The only change will be the Monday date.
I have a list of birthdays (in date-month-year format) and simply want to highlight them if the date and month are past today's date.

I am trying to create a VBA code that will automatically highlight the row of an Excel table (2007) of the active cell. So far I have this:

Where the columns A and EJ represent the size of the table. But I would like to automate the column choices so that if the table has columns added or removed, the code still works. Is there a way to just reference a row of a table?
I am using Excel 2007 with a WIN XP OS…. My objective is to color code each cell in Column F within each sub-group based on the following instructions:
1) Column F contains a percentage…. Each sub-group in Column F totals 100%.... Each sub-group is separated as shown on the enclosed sample.
2) Starting with the highest percentage, followed by the next highest, (etc.), I want to sum each subsequent cell until reaching a target threshold (total sum) of 62%.... All cells in this grouping to be highlighted “yellow”.
3) Once the 62% target threshold is reached, the very next highest subsequent cell percentage is highlighted “light olive”…. If there is a tie, the lower number shown in Column E serves as the tie-breaker.
4) All remaining cells within the sub-group are highlighted “light brown” including those denoted by 0%.
5) Finally, if the cell is blank and absent of a % call out, then no highlight is required.
I process a daily spreadsheet having typically in excess of 1000 rows and in turn, I’m looking for a method to automate the color coding….

I'm using Excel 2010 and I have a copy of an address in Excel. I'm trying to identify all the people who live by themselves- without partners and spouses.
I have a column array like this:

And the relevant columns is usually L. I am trying to figure out the formula that allow me to extract or at least highlight the people who live by themselves- or alternatively the people who live in the same house (which would therefore identify by exclusion the singletons).
I'm brand new to using formulas for conditional formatting. How to achieve the following...
Red highlight for todays date and past dates
Yellow highlight dates up to 30 days before today
No highlights for blank cells or text

This auto-copy also occurs periodically when I select(highlight) a single cell.
Notes:
1. I do not have a copy hotkey on my mouse, as this also happen when I use the trackpad.
2. This only happens in excel. When I select multiple items on my desktop, it does not auto copy.

Now what I would like to do is have the data in each column highlighted a certain color based on specific ranges. For example in Column B I want anything from 92% - 100% highlighted blue. I would like 83% - 91.9% highlighted purple, and anything under 83% highlighted red. Do I need to have a conditional format entered in each cell? Can I set up a conditional format for the whole column? Once I can figure the formatting in my example the remaining columns will be a breeze since they will be set up in the same manner just different number ranges, same colors will apply.
I am trying to write a macro in VBA excel 2010 that compares 2 sheets.
The macro should be something along the lines of if column 7 on sheet 1 = column 1 on sheet 2
AND
on that same row if column 6 on sheet 1 = column 3 on sheet 2

I have been looking at a post number 170404 which NBVC answered with an example grid. This was while I was trying to bring searched data through to another sheet and this is just what I was looking for as a brilliant start,
I have attached my very similar example in my scenario. I have also got NBVC's example on the first two sheets of this as reference. In addition I am also bringing through from-to date ranges which I then need to be applied to a Booking Sheet so I can see that these dates are booked for this person, and ideally where they are going and what they need to do there by colour.
I tried, just as a test in this example the following. Please note that this only had the three ranges as I was testing an example coordinator which returned three date ranges. It could be that the example returns 20 or 30 ranges that need to be applied to the rather primative Booking Sheet.

It seemed to give the right answer initially but trying different dates it gave the wrong result. It seemed to be checking one of the ranges and not all of them. As mentioned above this was just an example to see what I could get working but I don't think that this would be the ideal way of doing this as it would need to check 30-40 maybe more ranges depending on what comes back from the coordinator search.
The aim would be to choose a co-ordinator on the Site Planner sheet and ideally return the city rather than the yes/no in the Booking Sheet for that date and use conditional formatting so that if the type from the Site Planner Sheet was paint it would fill in one colour, clean in another, etc.
Was hopefully trying to get this done without using any VB as I am trying to resolve this for my Wife she isn't very tech savvy and and I need to be able to explain the formulas!
I'm sure you will see from my sheet I have given this a good go but I am a bit unsure on what some of the formulas on NBVC sheet are doing, and that this is my first attempt at doing anything like this. I have also tried using lookup and match but I'm still having issues that they either aren't always in date order and it seems to return no if it doesn't match the first range. The other main issue that I have seen is that I need to check whatever ranges the selection comes back with rather than adding each one to search through.

I have a table with three columns. I'm building a calendar on a separate worksheet and am looking up the "value" based on a calendar date. So if a date falls within any of the ranges, I'd like to return the value in column C. For example, if the date is 02/07/12, I'd like for the result to be value 1, or if the date is 04/17/12, then I would like the result to be value 3. I've used a nested vlookup, but all that give me is the value when either the start or end dates match, but I can't get a value when the date falls within the range. If the dates were consecutive, I would simply use vlookup/TRUE, but the dates are not consecutive.

I have a problem regarding highlighting a specific cell, when i entered a specific date in another cell
Let me explain
If there is a Name, joining date, termination date/resignation date in cell A1 A2 & A3 respectively.
If the name is John, Joining date = 01/01/2012, Resignation Date 06/06/13
I need a formula which highlights the cell A2 plus all those cells which have the same date when i entered a date (i.e 01/01/2012) in another cell.
I want to have a new macro/button to redo the chart cells based on the dates in cols T and U (abt 400 entries). T has the start date and U has the end date.
Row 9 - X9: CJ9 have dates for about 10 months (weekdays only)
Column J have either of these two values: A or B
Column C has either of these two values: C or blank
I would envisage it going through each row, checking:
If date at top of that col was between the dates in cols T & U
then
if col J = 'A' then set cell to black block
else if col J = 'B'
then
if col C = C (closed) then set cell to red block
else set cell to blue block

For each "title" in column A, I want to compare the two sets of start and end dates (columns B & C versus D & E) and if the date range in column B &C overlaps with the date range in column D & E, input "yes" or "no" in column F.
In my attached example, rows 8,9,11, and 12 would be populated with a "yes", the rest would be "no".

As per above figure I want to sum based on the same dates. I.e A2 has date 1/26/2012 for which first entry is 12 so total will say 12 in C1, for the same date second entry is 14 so 12+14=26 is there in total at C2, for the third and last entry of 1/26/2012 it's 16 so total would be 12+14+16 = 42 in C3 which is grand total for 1/26/2012. I want to fill entire C column with some logical formula so that the logic holds true for various dates.
I have tried to use the IF formula like =IF(A1=A2,SUM(B1:B2)) but it fails at third cell. I have tried several ways to do this but no luck so far ....
I have start dates (column A) and maintenance expiry dates (column B). What I want to do is set up a formula to see if the product was renewed between 01/04/2007 - 31/03/2008 and return a simple yes, no or new_sales.
Examples
If the start date was 26/09/2006 and maintenance expiry date was 26/09/2008 then it would return a yes that they have renewed
If the start date was 18/04/2006 and maintenance expiry date was 18/04/2007 then it would return a no that they have not renewed
If the start date was 20/06/2008 and maintenance expiry date was 20/06/2009 then it would return a new_sale
I have one worksheet with 52 rows for each week of the year with the
following headings: week #, start date of week and end date of week. I have
another worksheet where I need to forecast expected expenses for new
employees based on the date they start ie. Joe starts in Feb 6 (week 6) and
then calculate expected spend based on remaining weeks in the year. I do
this manually right now. How can I automate this?
