Data example: AB1AREANumber2SW103SW114SE125NE136SW147SW158SW169NW17
I need a code in VBA that can find the 1st cell in col A that contains "SW" and store the number in col B as V1= # then find the 4th cell in col A that contains "SW" and store the number in col B as V2= #.
so that i can do some math with the numbers. The code should result in 10-15
I have a ListObject table called Table1, and the column name is Table1[Company]. The records have been sorted A-Z for the Company.
The records look something like this
Date Employee Company ------------------------------------------- 1/1/11 Jane A Company 1/1/11 Jane B Company 3/1/11 Bob B Company 2/1/11 Bob B Company 4/1/11 Bob B Company 5/1/11 Bob C Company
What I need is a sub() to look in the column of Table1[Company] and determine:
The # of records that match the criteria given the Company name, and where they start and end. Ultimately, I'd like to copy and paste this portion of the table to another spreadsheet.
So for instance, if the Company = "B Company", then I could find out there are 4 records and there locations to copy and paste them.
I think I am working all around this in Excel 2003 and feel like I am in the neighborhood, but can't seem to quite get there. On sheet1 I have 2 columns of 100s of rows. All of the cells in column A will be filled in with a date as time goes by (1-May-09 for example). Several of them may be 1-May-09 as a matter of fact. In column B, some of the cells will have a number in them and some of them will be empty. On sheet2, I want to construct a formula that returns a count of cells in column B that have a number in them based on a specific date in column A. For example:
If I could get the formula right, it would return an answer of 1 for 1-May in the example, because only 1 of the 1-May entries in column A has a number in the adjacent cell in column B. A formula for 2-May would return an answer of 2 since only 2 of the 2-May entries in column A have numbers in the adjacent cell in column B, and so on for the month. If I understand things right, there are too many arguments for COUNTIF. It seems that SUMPRODUCT should work, but I can't make it so.
I am calculating multiple Correlations for long lists of data. I want the correlation based on the value in a given column. In the below example I would like a different correlation for each value in colA and the correlation will be between colC and colD. ColB lists the different people whose data are used for the correlations. In actuality there are 30 or more people for each test. In every case ColC is the same for a given value of ColB (although I doubt that matters). The number of people taking each test varies. I would like a correlation of ColC an ColD for each value of ColA.
Simplified version of my data
ColA ColB ColC ColD Test1 Fred .75 1 Test1 Max .80 0 Test1 Sara .90 1 Test2 Fred .75 1 Test2 Max .80 1 Test2 Sara .90 0 .... Test100 Fred .75 1 Test100 Max .80 1 Test100 Sara .90 1
How would you select cell values from differing rows based on the name in an adjacent column. ie, if it says John, add that data to the source data, if not move on.
I am wanting to count the number of records (excluding cells with no value) based on criteria in a corrosponding column. In column "AS" I have a number of records that are not sorted showing values "7", "13" and "2".
In column "AL" there are values attached to some of these records based on certain IF statement conditions. I am wanting to count and sum the number of records in column "AL" that meet the conditions of "7" in column "AS" and so forth.
What I am tying to do is to select the column that matches the time, for instance anything before 6 AM would select Column C, betweeb 6 and 6:14 still selects column C, 6:15 to 6:29 selects column D, Etc
I'm using excel 2003. I would like to select and copy rows of data within a worksheet of a workbook and then paste those rows into a newly created excel workbook. That is the easy part. The complication is that I would like the macro to select the rows based on a particular string value that will be impossible to specify in a fixed way (i.e., it will change from project to project). Let's say the variable that distinguishes the rows is location, so some are from Tokyo, some New York, and some from Paris. Using vba, how can one 'splice' the data into (in this case, three) seperate workbooks based on the string/values of another variable?
I am familiar with auto-filter, but in this case, I really do need to create seperate workbooks, rather than apply calculations to a selection of the data.
I have a macro that copies three sections of data from a word document and pastes it within the Excel worksheet. The column of data is pasted in a single column (data to be space-delimited and evaluated later), and what I would like the MACRO to do is separate the three sections of data based on the starting and ending values of the section and place them in different columns.
Section 1 : starts with the word "Team" Section 1 : ends with the word "City"
Section 2 : starts with the word "Location" Section 2 : ends with the word " Date"
Section 3 : starts with the word "Member" Section 3: ends with the word "Age"
So section 1 would be pasted into cell C1, section 2 pasted into G1 and section 3 pasted into J1.
Each section will have vary in number of rows between the starting/ending values, so to cut and paste the section based on the starting and ending value is vital.
I am looking to count every 4th column that has a average score less than 90. My columns are set with 3 scores and 4th column has the average of those scores. Like such:

I can count them using a SUMPRODUCT(--(MOD(COLUMN function but I cannot get a criteria to work.
Attached is a workbook that better explains what I am trying to do. I am counting pastdue accounts from several different insurance companys. I have several pastdue brackets, and I need the total amount of pastdue accounts for each bracket, for each insurance company. I think the countifs function wrapped in an index match may get the job done, but I have not been able to figure it out. right now I have a countifs wrapped in an if statement, and it is producing incorrect results.
I have a specific issue that I have not been able find in here or on the internet. I need to count entries in one column based on a date range using corresponding dates in another column.I found countif, countifs, dcount, etc but have not been able to get any code to work. I don't know if my excel spreadsheet attached correctly but I can explain it since it's a simple one. Column A is filled with report dates that generally increase from 10/1/2012 t0 9/30/2013. Column B is filled with the number of "AFIS searches." If an AFIS search was not conducted for a specific report then the cell is blank. I need to count the number of AFIS searches between the dates of 1/1/2013 and 3/31/2013.
I get this work a lot and am looking for a much more effective way of working the dataset,
I have numbers like 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and so on....... These come under criteria like (1) = 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and so on.....
I am look for an automated way of doing a count of any number that falls under this criteria, so I want to count based on criteria (1) it would count all 1.1,1.2,1.3 and so on as one count.
I am attaching a sample document to see how it is laid out. [URL] .....
I've got two columns, one with policy numbers, the other with error codes.
A policy could be in the list more than once, so I'm counting the number of unique policy numbers with the function
=SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(A10:F10000,A10:A10000)>0,1))
I want to count the number of errors that are NOT code 00 or code 21. Because the error codes are saved as text, I'm counting the number of errors with
The problem is that since a policy number could be listed twice, when I count the errors, I might be counting the same policy as an error twice. This means that I could feasibly end up with more errors than I have unique policies, which doesn't work.
What I'd like to do is only count the number of errors that have unique policy numbers. That is, I only want to count an error the first time it is in the list, based off it's policy number. Is that possible?
I would like to insert rows into column A from column D based on the count values and without affecting subsequent values in column B and C. For example. Count of a value in column A =1 and count of that same value in column D=5, THEN 5-1 (count of D - count of A) insert 4 rows in column A (shift cells down) without affecting data in column B AND C. Basically making the counts in column A and D equal.
