I have a variable ("DestFile") that defines a path to a file (used in saving the file)...
I'm in the process of getting a Sub to hyperlink to this file, but in some circumstances, I may only want to hyperlink to the folder, not the actual file...
How would I go about trimming the "DestFile" address to get a "DestFldr" address?...
An example of "DestFile" might be; S:BryanFor KenGulf ConstructionST0609014-t.xls (the file name length may vary) What code can I use to consistently trim it back to; S:BryanFor KenGulf Construction as the "DestFldr" variable?
In the attached excel, I will be putting a string (Which will be a result of another formula) and there will be a table in column A & B(Length of the table will vary).
What I need is a formula to search entire column B and get the file names which is having that string and also the corresponding path
Table E6 to F9 contains the desired result (The result wont be more than 3 at any point of time
I am trying to allow users to select a file, and then the file name/ the file path / and date are added.
Right now, all those functions work in the following code, but the file path shows up as a letter drive. As there could be upwards of 50 people using this file and the mapped drive could be different, i wanted the full path to be displayed.
I have the following code written but I'm wondering if it's possible to modify this to change the red line to update to the path that the workbook is saved in? Meaning that User1Folder1 would change but [Workbook1.xlsm]Sheet1'E1 would always be the same.
I am trying to open excel files in a file path which includes folders which also have excel folders i wish to open there are quite a few.
At the moment i am working with this code but it fails to open excel files which are within the folders in the specified file path. Its fine for excel workbooks in the folder specified by file path.
This is the code
Sub RunCodeOnAllXLSFiles() Dim lCount As Long Dim wbResults As Workbook
Essentially, the Engineering Dept has given me 550 AutoCad files I have dumped into a folder located in this path: C:/DrawingsDump
From these 550 DWG files I need to manually filter and separate 260 drawings that I actually need to use and move them to a folder located in this path: C:/DrawingsFiltered . This manual filtering process takes a lot of time and is tedious work and it has got to be done everytime Engineering changes drawings because they are not kind enough to provide me a delta list.
In Excel 2003 I have setup a list of all 260 drawings I am interested in and that I call my filtered list. Is it possible to create a script that will enable Excel 2003 to compare my filtered list to all of the files inside C:/DrawingsDump, and then copy only those files that match to my Excel Filtered list and then paste only matching files into the C:/DrawingsFiltered folder?
If Excel 2003 can't handle this, is there a third party application that will let me perform a file management function like this with minimum startup time?
Any code that will grab the names of all files from all directories on an FTP server? I have the path & credentials to get to them, but I need a process to drop their names into a spreadsheet to compare against a list of files loaded onto a SQL database.
The directory structure on the server is subject to change, as are the number of files in each repository.
I am trying to make my macro more dynamic for a spreadsheet I am working on. I have this code which splits out worksheets (using the specific names of the worksheets-not dynamic) from a main workbook into template workbooks (which are basically just an empty workbook because I didn't know how else to do it) and then saves them using the paths below. I would like to make this more dynamic by splitting the different worksheets into new workbooks based on a key column in the hierarchy worksheet.
Basically I have a list of accounts in column B with the file name they should be exported to in column A. There are about 30 accounts being split into 6 different region files. Also note that the same account might be listed multiple times in column A (needed to add multiple numbers for other lookup formulas in the worksheets) but that account worksheet will still only be going to one of the six region files and not to multiple regions. After these are copied to an individual file I would like to save it to a location on my computer. All files will go to this location.
VB: Sub Create_Subfiles()
Dim FDMName As String Dim FBName As String Dim DIYName As String Dim WMName As String
My Excel 2010 spreadsheet contains client data like the below:
A B C D E
What I'm trying to get from this is a personally addressed email with 2 attachments, one will be standard to all recipients and one will be unique and specific to that recipient. The filename of the unique attachment will contain the reference but will have some other stuff in the filename as well on either side that I will not be able to remove.
In terms of the file locations the unique ones will be in subfolders of the folder holding this workbook and the generic one will be in the same folder as the this workbook. This is some adapted code that solved a similar problem (in Excel 2007 though) on a different website.
VB: Sub Mail_Report() Dim OutApp As Object Dim OutMail As Object [code]....
In that case the file started with the "reference" field but in my case it is in the middle and the formats vary depending on the provider, there will only be a maximum of 5 providers but I would like to avoid 5 different macros if at all possible so I need a search function of some sort.
i have many excel workbooks in a folder i want a macro that will get the names of all the files and make the file names so extracted as a hyperlink to open the files.
In my search I found several example similar to what I need, but nothing I could adapt to filt my needs, (at least not wim my limited skills).
Here what I need to do:
I have multilple Excel files in a directory. (M:/Archived PO Responses/Domestic). On a daily basis, these files are processed via VBA, and deleted after processing. What I need to do is, prior to processing and deleting these files, create an ongoing log of the filenames in that directory.
Example:
The macro would open an Excel file named "Processed Orders.xls", which is stored on the network drive "M:". It would then append all of the filenames in the directory mentioned above to a sheet named "Processed Orders" in that workbook, below any filenames that already exist.
I have 1000 workbooks in a folder, each workbooks format is same. as of now I open each workbook, and check if values in A10 is equal to B10, that is if the value in A10 is "100" I will check if B10 is also "100" if not I will make a note the file name.
I have more than 1000 workbooks in a folder, It is really difficult to open and check if the values are same. is there a macro, which will check the condition A10 = B10, if not get the file name in one sheet.

if I can add a other request I just thought of.
If a sheet is also in one of the workbooks list, can I add a link directly to it? For example, Workbook1 has a sheet named "MARCH".
When i'm working on sheet "MARCH" I want to be able to click on a button to see the Userform I created from the script above and see if the sheet "MARCH" is present from the other workbooks listed, if there is a sheet "MARCH" in the workbooks listed, I want another listbox to show what files contain sheet "MARCH" and link to them.
1- I have a list full with numbers in a column. And I want to count how many digits are there in every cells. If digit of the number is less than 7, macro will complete it to 7 digits by adding 0 (zero) at the beginning of the number.
Example: A1 = 85468... A1 value is 5 < 7 in this case our number will be 0085468 (total 7 digits)
PS: sometime, when numbers start with 0 (zero), excel delete all 0 value at the beginning of the numbers. Macro should prevent this error.
2- I have another list with 2 columns which arranged in order. I mean: A1=xx1, B1=xx2, A2=xx3, B2=xx4, A3=xx5, B3=xx6... etc. One is at A column, next number in B column.
My request is I want to make this list 1 column as arranged. A1=xx1, A2= xx2, A3=xx3, A4=xx4... etc.
3- Macro will add a new line to the end of the above list with this format: Z00001xxxx
Z00001 is static xxxx is number of the full cells of A column plus 1. It will be 4 digits. If count is less than 4, it will complete it to 4 digits. Example: if there are 15 cells in the list, last line will Z00010016 (15 + 1)
I have a folder that contain a list of files in shortcut type. So that i can just click it without going to different drives and paths to open those files and it really save my time.
After updating those files, i need to zip it up. There are many files to zip up and it takes time by going to its path one by one. Do you guys know is there any method to zip up those files without going to its relevant drives and paths?
How to save a file, with file- name. but the directory is to be read in worksheet "towns" in Cell1 (brussels) and filename in worksheet "names" in cell B2 (i.e. winter), so it saves to c:russelswinter.txt as a wordpad or kladblok txt file, that keeps a number, so each time we push a button "go back from worksheet names to worksheet towns" the "number" that is saved in the txt document goes up by value +1. In Flemisch, the "old" code goes as follows, and saves the number in the txt file Factuurnummer7.txt. But I want that the file name (here: FactuurNummer7) can be a variable text issue, which has to be read - as already noticed - in cell B2 (with the word WINTER). So the are 2 worksheets: towns, ans names
pad$ = Application.DefaultFilePath 'controle = Dir(pad$ + "FactuurNummer7.txt") 'If controle = "" Then GoTo EerstAanmaken 'Open pad$ + "Factuurnummer7.txt" For Input As #10 'Input #10, Nummer1 'Close #10......................
Below is the current code I have for File Copy before the workbook closes. This file will be distributed all over and obviously will not have the same old path and new path locations as I have in my code also will not have the same file name. Is there anyway to still perform the file copy without knowing the old path and file name and possibly have message box pop up to ask the copy to location and use that in the new path string?
Sub Macro1() Dim fs As Object Dim oldPath As String, newPath As String oldPath = "I:EXLDATAMC Daily" '<---Where the file is currently located newPath = "H:South RegionOrlando Mail Services2008DI" 'Since the super shared drive is super slow we will just copy and replace this file each time before we close and of course after we save Set fs = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") fs.CopyFile oldPath & "" & "OrlandoMail.xls", newPath & "" & "OrlandoMail.xls" Set fs = Nothing End Sub
In order to do that I need to change the path of an External Data that is an access 2003 file (.mdb file).
The only way that I imagine it is possible is to select a cell that is an adress for the query result, than click on properties and change it selecting the new path of file (the path moves depending on the user of the .xls).
