how to use VBA to write a formula in one sheet that refers to a fixed cell on the sheet to the right. The referenced sheet may have different names and it may be in a different order (i.e. not Sheet(2)) but it will always be one sheet to the right. I just want to have cell A1=(cell B2 one sheet to the right).
View 7 RepliesI've got 3 sheets, A, B, and C. In sheet C, I have a cell named "element". That cell can have either the letter A or the letter B in it. In my VB code, I want to reference the sheet which correlates with the "element" cell. So,
Worksheets("element").Select
when the user clicks my "go" button, it calls this logic, and I want the worksheet that correleates to the letter in the cell in worksheet C - to open.
The reason for my posting - this is not working, and may not even be possible. Perhaps someone has experience in this and knows how to do it - or knows a different way to do this.
I have a UDF in Cell Sheet1!A1 that inputs some ranges from Sheet1 and calculates a number. Then I have a sub that calculates the value of this function with Evaluate(Sheet1!A1.formula). However, this only works when I am in Sheet1. Otherwise, I get the wrong calculation. How can I avoid this? I will post the code in the open source forum as it otherwise is quite good and automatically resizes array functions to their proper size.

I need a VBA code to reference the cell value to activate a particular worksheet name. In the sheet "Ini", Range ("B4"), there is a text of "Rawdata" This text is used to reference to the specific Sheet name and activate it.

I need to copy a range of values from sheet 3 to sheet1. When I recorded macro, I got the below code. But, instead of RC in the 4th line <ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=Sheet2!RC"> I need to pass values like A1,A20 etc.
Since the values range & column to be copied would be varying dynamically, (say for first iteration it would be A1: A20 & for second iteration, I need to copy C1: C20.) how to pass these variables to the macro and use it instead of the static "RC". Whatever column I specify, it should copy from that <column>StartRow to that <column> EndRow.

Currently I have a worksheet which is organized to have two pages on it. I will try to explain, i.e. imagine one page of the worksheet in the hypothetical range of A1:D26, then another page in the range E27:K50. So it is staggered on the same sheet. Is there an easy way to copy the range of E27:K50 onto another worksheet.
Aside from the regular copy and paste, I am having problems because there are formulas in the 2nd range (E27:K50) which loose their references once copied.
i.e the formula SUM(A1:A10) I would like to be SUM('Master List'!A1:A10) on the new sheet. Is there an easier way then going through all the formulas and adding the master list part.
i have a button that copies data from cell
A5:K5, and pastes it in Sheet2 of my workbook.

I have like 40 buttons attached to 4 rows each. And in that group of rows, i have some cells with an IF= formula, and some minor coding.
The problem is: If i press button 3,4,17,29 before i press every other button before that. I get an reference code fail at the cell.
If i press the buttons in order. Like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 - it appears smoothly.
More info: The button copies data from for example A5:K5 and pastes it into the next blank row of sheet2. But i want to be able to press button 2 before i press button1, without getting an error in my =IF cell.
If i press the 40 buttons in a row, and then starts to mix up the button pressing. It appears smoothly.
I have a master sheet named "Summary" and a number of following identically formatted sheets with lots of different names. I intend to pick out information from cell F7 of each of the following sheets and make the information show on the summary page. On the summary sheet in column A is the name of all the following sheets (spelt correctly), and in columns B, C and D are the spaces for the information I need on the summary sheet.
I need to set up a formula across columns B, C and D that I can copy down, which picks out the name of the sheet from column A and the cell reference within that sheet. So far I have experimented with formulae similar to the below which all keep returning with #REF! I hasten to add that all the Sheets are named and spelt correctly: =INDIRECT("'"&$A1"'!",$F$7)
The F7 would be changed for other cells in columns C and D, and so when I copied this down through all the following sheets on the summary page it should give me hte right results...
I am writing a macro that will use information from the worksheet in use and the one prior to it. The problem is I do not know how to reference the worksheet that will always come before the worksheet in use. To fill you in, I have a monthly budget worksheet that tracks all my monthly financials. What I like to do is compare this months balances (cash, equity, bonds) and see the amount of loss/gain and percentage from the month before.
Here is what i currently have implemented.
This macro was written in the month of October. For this function the macro I wrote will take Octobers cash balance and subtract it from Septembers cash balance. This will give me the gain or loss. Now the problem is if I were to run this macro in November it will still reference September not October. I always want the macro to use the month before (the 1st tab to the left) not a specific tab. I wrote this macro using relative references so I do not understand why it will not use the tab before. Can someone please shed some light on this for me?
How do I change the code so that the macro looks up the next sheet (instead of by sheet number, which is how the code was recorded) and transfers data to the summary page until there are no more new sheets. See attached zip.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMaybe it's not as complicated as i'm thinking, but i'm trying to figure out a formula (or macro) that will let me basically fill in a blank from a (nearly) irrelivant second worksheet. The only similarity the two will have is a PO number, or in my picture diagram, it's a letter. The worksheet that i'm trying to fill in the blank from has maybe 1500 entries, the worksheet i am referencing to has roughly 11,000, so sorting it would make no difference and the columns would be very inconsistant with eachother, but the rows will be similar.
I want to start a formula in Sheet one, that looks at the Letter in that same row, finds that Letter in Sheet two, and gets information from the same row but a few columns over. I might be explaining this poorly, so here's a picture of what i'm referring to. I'm trying to fill in F6 in Sheet 1 with information from F2 in Sheet 2.
I have a Workbook that has a macro that, as of now, is referencing the Workbook's file name. I'd like it to just be referencing the worksheet itself (it is in the same workbook) so that when the file name is changed, the macro still works.

Using Visual Basic, if I have a named range, lets say like "NAMEDRANGE", how can I refer to cells in that range by their position in the range? For example, if I want to refer to the cell in the 2nd row and 3rd column of the range.
Also is their an easy way to refer to the first(top-left) cell in a named range?

I am trying to use VB to vlookup between to workbooks
1. Make active workbook WBK1
2. Make workbook being open WBK2
3. Copy and Paste between WBK1 and WBK2
4. Have a vlookup in WBK1 and bring in the values from WBK2
5. Close WKB2
6. Copy, Paste, and transpose values in wkb1 within wkb1
The script works fine until it reaches the vlookup step. I have used the vlookup by itself without the copy and paste code successfully but when I combine the two it provides me with the error 9. Subscript out of range.
I am completely new to Macro's and VB and the macro below has been generated using the "Record Macro" function in Excel 2013 with a couple of very minor modifications based on some research I have done (hyperlink & input box). My ultimate goal is to make a copy of my "TEMPLATE", which is hidden and the copy could have a variety of names, then create an entry in my "SUMMARY" table that references cells on the newly created sheet. The new entry on the SUMMARY page should be entered in the next available row ... at the moment I need to make sure I have my cursor in the right place before I run the macro. I also want the first cell in the new "SUMMARY" row to create a hyperlink to the newly created worksheet.
The macro does what I need it to do, as long as I name the new sheet "Test", what I would like is for the Macro to recognise the name of the new worksheet and create links to that name. The rows and columns in each new sheet will remain the same, hence the R##C## part will always work.
The "SUMMARY" and "TEMPLATE" worksheet names will not (ever) change.

I'd like the "WildCard" to pull from a value in a cell whereby I can run a button macro that, when pushed, deletes the tab/worksheet named "WildCard". For instance, if I wanted to delete "Sheet3" I would type "Sheet3" into, say, cell C3 and then press the button to run the macro and "Sheet3" would be deleted. How to I refer the macro to cell C3? I currently have a macro that inserts/names a sheet based upon a cell reference and macro button. I'd like one that can delete in the same way.

What I have:
Right now I have a data file(Sheet1) that lists the data of various accounts. Each row is a different account and each column is data that pertains to the account. Ex. Row 1 will be account # 1, with things like name, account number, address, etc... in columns A B C and so on.
What I want to do:
I need to make forms for EACH account in another sheet (sheet2), and in that form i need to reference specific data from Sheet1. THe reason it needs to be referenced is beecause if we make changes to Sheet1, the form will also need to be updated. Also, I dont need all the data in sheet one for each account, I will be pulling out data from different columns, ie. only columns A, E, F, etc...

I added a textbox (originally called 'TextBox2' but renamed "Choice") and "Dimed" CHOICE As Range.

After unhiding this sheet and modifying it, I copy it. This new copy becomes the 'production' copy, and the self-hiding sheet is blanked, leaving me with a hidden blank template and a new sheet. However, the self-hiding code is copied along into the new sheet. I'm looking for a way to delete the sheet code from the copy. The best I've found is how to remove a module from the workbook.

I have incorporated print/print-preview command buttons/VBA into a workbook with protected sheets. To enable these command buttons to function when the relevant sheet is protected, I have had to add VBA code to unprotect the sheet before generating the print preview, and then to protect it again afterwards. However, the code I have used (see below) prompts the user to enter the protection password, is there any code I can use where I can write the password into the code itself to unprotect the worksheet without the using having to enter the password?

I have a workbook with about 12 worksheets within it. I am trying to input a button on worksheet 3 that when pushed would activate worksheet 12. Basically the same as if you clicked on the tab at the bottom of the screen called worksheet 12.
I realise that you have to create a button which Ive done. However I cannot seem to figure out the proper macro code to get the button to change the current worksheet when its pushed.
I have a workbook with 1000+ worksheets, all of which have 3-letter names. On a master sheet, I would like to make a query of how many non-empty cells there are on a subsidiary worksheet. This works:

What I'd like to do from time to time is input in column A a varying set of 3-letter worksheet names, say
AAB
ABC
CDE
And have a formula in column B that converts this to
=COUNTA(AAB!A:A)
=COUNTA(ABC!A:A)
=COUNTA(CDE!A:A)
I've learned that simply substituting the cell references A1, A2, A3 for AAB, ABC and CDE doesn't work. What do I need to do to achieve this?
