Make A Shape Into A Button?
Dec 5, 2012I really dislike the look of the command buttons and would like to use a nice flat-looking Shape into a functional button.

View 3 RepliesFor this example.. Think of this information:
shape = rectangle 1
starting fill colour = 255,255,255 (white)
I have a cell on the other part of sheet which has a value of 0 - but changes to 1 when I hover over another part of the sheet.
I need this shape to change fill from white to an image whenever that cell changes value to "1".
I need all this without clicking on an object! JUST when the cell changes, I can mange it with a click but that's besides the point.
i changed the shape of "Comment" box with edit shape. However when i right click the updated shape and click on Set Autoshape Default it does nothing. When I insert a new comment it is back to old shape.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a map of 14 regions where each region changes brightness depending on values in the worksheets. I think I've got this bit sorted. I'm planning on creating the map using a collection of tessellated shapes or images, and using VBA to alter the properties of each one to create a dynamic map.
The output of the individual maps from MapInfo, our GIS software, is in .png or .jpg. format, and come with a white background. Is there any way to either make the background transparent so multiple shapes can be tessellated effectively, or a way to crop the image to the area's border?
Either that, or does someone know a way to output from MapInfo in such a way to make this possible? (Granted, it's a long shot, but you can't blame a guy for trying...)
How do you references the properties of a shape? I am having trouble with 2 different types. Firstly, I have a worksheet with a group of commandbuttons (all added using the Control toolbox) and I want to loop through them changing, for example, the enabled property of each to TRUE.
Secondly, I have some commandbuttons on a worksheet (added using the Forms toolbox). How would I loop through changing, say, the text on the buttons. I used the macro recorder to try to get an idea and got the following:
Sheet1.Shapes("button 15").Select
Selection.Characters.Text = "New Text"
Although this works, it is not very elegant, how can it be achieved without selecting the button each time, but rather by directly accessing the property.
I have a button (group containing and add and delete button).
I want to identify the row (position of shape/button calling the macro) to enable inserting a new row (1 row down from current row).
Then do the same to delete a row (position of shape/button calling the macro) to enable deletion of selected row.
This will allow me to add/insert rows by the button located at that row
The problem i have is getting the row property (row position of the button eg. TopLeftCell.Row) of the add button. The add button (RowBtnAdd) is a shape within a group (BtnGrp)
I also note that when a group is copied, it has the same shape name as that copied.
I want to keep the add and delete shape within the group (BtnGrp).
I do not want to select a cell or row or enter a row number to delete etc.
refer to sample workbook attached. Currently only has one record row.
I have written a small piece of code that handles clicks on buttons on an excel spread sheet. When a button is pressed, i need to know the row number where the button resides in.
I have searched and read about this issue on several forums, and they all indicate that i need to use something like
application.caller.topleftcell.row
to get the row number and
application.caller.topleftcell.column
to get the column number.
However, when i use the row variant, it ALWAYS returns row number 1. When i use the column variant, it returns the column number it is actually in.
i have added the full code that is creating the buttons below, and also the part that displayes the rownumber that is incorrect.
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Dim name
Dim time As Integer
time = InputBox("Typ the hour you are checking" & vbCrLf & "eg: 7, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19", "Which Check")
I have a bit of code that I saved as an add-in. The code does a couple things: (1) Creates a right-click button that on action (2) draws a rectangular auto-shape that is the size of any selected range.
The add-in seems to loaded correctly.
However, when I launch a new excel sheet, my intent was to have the code (the right click option) be available whenever I opened Excel.
Is there another step to accomplish this?
I have a command button that I want to appear to be flashing (by continually changing the button's font colour text) which a user can click at any time. I can (almost) do this now by using 'Application.Wait Now + TimeValue', but this doesn't allow the user to click the button until the code has finished running.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a button that has a macro asigned to it. i don't want it to be active
or able to run unless it sees data in cell D25.
in my spreadsheet (attached), i want it so that when someone clicks a button, it will fill in the next available cell in column A. For example, when I click on the "Create" button on the green NIPRNet side, then it'll fill in the next available cell in column A (cell A4) with "(N) Created Account". Then, if I click on "Unlock" on the red SIPRNet Side, then it will fill in cell A5 with "(S) Unlocked Account". and so on, and so on, down column A.
At the moment, i have it so that all the cells in column A are dropdown menus. But I want to eliminate the drop-down menus and use buttons instead.
I designed my spreadsheet incorrect.
Everything works good. But when I selecting tables with listbox, I forgot to notice that there also comboboxes.
I mean, rwgrietveld, I use selecting table to hide 'em, but when I hide 'em comboxes should also disappear (become invisible).
is it possible at all to make invisible activex commandbutton in selection?
Public Sub OptionButton1_click()
Sheet1.Select
ActiveSheet.OLEObjects("OptionButton1").Interior.Font.Bold = True
End Sub
The problem i have is when i click on one of the option buttons it should change the cells ive highlighted to bold.
I have a user form with multipage.
With the use of the option buttons,the page needs to made visible or invisible.
Example: on Page one, i have placed radio buttons as page2,Page3&page4.
By default only page 1 should be visible and when we select radio button page2, page2 should become visible or else it should be invisible,when we select radio button page3, page3 should become visible or else should remain invisible.
I've been trying to research how to do this for a while now and still can't figure it out. My impression is that this is fairly straightforward in Excel 2010 since the menus and ribbons are easily customizable but not so in Excel 2007.
So far I can get macro shown as a button in the Quick Access Toolbar. But the issue is that I can't organize them or customize the icons.
Is there an accepted practice for this?
So i got a few macros on a worksheet and one of them is simply :
Sub Pr_Removefilter()
ActiveSheet.ShowAllData
End Sub
Ive worked on the excel a couple of times, everything fine. Then it started crashing upon saving (after changes made that had no possible connection to the macro, on another sheet). After a few painfull trials and errors i located the problem to be this macro button. I erased it, created a new one with the EXACT macro and it works. Why?..
I am creating a userform in Excel 2007 which requires a user to pick their name from a drop down box then press Ok, what i want to do is disable the Ok button until the user field has been selected.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn the attached spreadsheet there is two irregular shapes. "Area1" & "Area2". I need to be able to determine which area the "ball" shape is located in. If the ball is in Area1 then "Multiply 8" gets the ball and "Multiply 9" moves to the blue cell "AH39". If the ball is in "AreaB" Multiply 9 gets the ball and "Multiply 8" runs to cell "S37"
I should be able to do the moving of the shapes using all the samples, its determining which area the ball is in is the problem.
In the real spreadsheet i will probably have around 10 different Areas.

I have a spreadsheet on sheet 1 with a list of customers and their information. So on column A I have the customer number (i.e. k968, e37, p528,...), on column B i have the customer's name, on column C the street's name, on Column D the house number, on column E the zip code and finally the city on column F.
Right now there are around 600 customers in this list.
I have made a userform with a combobox in which I want to select an existing customer (pulled from the spreadsheet). On the same userform I have textboxes (customer number, name, street, number, zip, city). When I select a customer in the combobox, I want this customer's info to show up in the textboxes. I want to be able to change the info and hit Next to store the changes in the spreadsheet. When I do not select a customer from the combobox, I want to add new info in the textboxes and hit Next to store this info as a new customer. The userform also has a delete button. Then I select a customer in the combobox, this customer (and it's info) should be deleted from the spreadsheet when i hit Delete. So the spreadsheet is variable in length.
I have D4=0.42. I thought this formula =IF(D4<0.38,"Thin",IF(0.38<D4<=0.48,"Good shape","Bad shape")) was supposed to give me "Thin" for D4<0.38, "Good shape" for 0.38<D4<=0.48 and "Bad shape" for the contrary, but it only gives me "Bad shape" when D4 is clearly between 0.38 and 0.48.

Is it possible to find out if the selected item is a textbox through VB?
Is there any way that I can get the name of the shape i just clicked to call a procedure?
I have 35 shapes in my Worksheet.
Each shape has a different name. Each shape has a macro procedure assigned, wich do almost the same procedure (with just small differences, depending on from wich shape the macro was called).
I want to make just one macro procedure and catch from wich shape the macro was called.
