View 3 RepliesPlease see the attached sheet. I have columns B through a lot (B through O in my oversimplified example). In every 7th row in each of these columns there is either a 1 or a blank/zero. I need to multiply that 7th number by the Quantity in column A, to achieve a total (ie the sum of each result of 7th cell*quantity) for each column in the bottom row, labeled "Totals".
In the actual version of my sheet, there are far too many rows to select everything manually. I've been fiddling with combinations of COUNTIF/COUNTA and OFFSET, but I haven't come up with a way to check for the 1 in every 7th row, THEN multiply that 1 by the quantity in column A, THEN add up the results for each column. As you can see, there are 1's elsewhere in the columns that are irrelevant to this particular calculation, so something like LOOKUP would also have to look in every 7th cell and couldn't just look at the column as a whole.
If you can't provide an immediate solution, but can at least point me to a resource that would allow me to devise a way to isolate every 7th row (THAT part is the sticking point), I'll surely post the solution to my own thread with updated keywords if I need it.
I am trying to write a formula where the column header of the row in which a value other than 0 exists, will display for each instance (row) where a value exists in an array spanning 3 columns. So the result cell could be any of the three column headers, or a combination thereof.
I started the formula in P2 of the GL Detail-2012 tab. File attached.
Here is what I started: =INDEX($M$1:$O$1,SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIF($M$2:$O$67756,))). Not working.
I have values in COlumn A, probably about 50K rows, The total unique values on the column A is only about 27. I need to capture all those unique values and paste them in column B. I didn't want to do "Advance filtering" since the workbook has many macros's on it that the user simply click on. Im thingking of creating a loop and compare values already pasted in Column b but then that will take too much time to complete the loop. Is there any easier or yet more efficient way to accomplish this?.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have column A that declares the account as asset, liability, expense, etc. Some of the accounts need to be reversed. I'm having a hard time figuring out a formula or code I can use. Column C contains the values. I prefer VBA as I want to add it to the current macro I already have.
So if Column A has a liability, offset by (0,2), and multiply that value by -1. If Column A has an asset, leave the value as is.
I wanted to use an if-then statement but I'm not sure how to highlight entire columns. The number of liabilities, and assets, etc.
I am having trouble with the final formula for this spreadsheet.
I want to be able to select "Holiday/Sunday" from the drop down men in column H, and have it multiply the total in column F by 2. There is already a formula in column F that sums column E-D.
I'm absolutely new to Excel and I've been trying to workout a formula to to test two conditions if true and derive the data from a 3rd column. In my attached excel file there's a Grade (A) , Status (B) and Mid Point (C) Tables. I'd like it to be formulated in a sense that forexample:

I need to tell every cell in one column to multiply itself by a firm number and a percentage. Ex: Column F will be the result of $77.80 times 75 percent all the way down the column. Column G will be $27.21 times 100 percent all the way down.
I could enter the formula into every cell, but I wondered if there's a way to just tell the whole column, only once, what it needs to do. PS-I work for an insurance company. The employees of a company want a spreadsheet showing exactly who pays exactly what. Ex: Their paystub shows $142.90 coming out of their paycheck. Their employer pays 100% of medical, 75% of dental. How can I multiply let's say A1 to 10 if B1 = 5
or multiply next cell like A2 to 15 if B2 = 10
I have an inherited formula and I am not sure if it is giving me the correct answer. It is:
=0.03*668*0.75*0.10
The result is 1.503
What I am aiming for is to get 3% and 25% of 688, deduct the results from 688 and then get 10% of that answer.
Is the inherited formula correct?
I want to be able to enter a value into a cell (within a specified range) and have it automatically multiply by a set value and overwrite the original entry with the result so making it all happen within one cell. The set value would be another cell on that sheet.
So the range for example is "H17:H74" and the value I want to multiply by is "D8"
Is this possible?
I've looked at another forum but it wasn't working when I wanted to define the set value as a cell.
I know when you multiple anything by 0 the answer is 0.
But I have a list of numbers I need to multiply out
but want to keep the total even if there is a 0 in the sequence
Eg
A1*A2*A3*A4
10*15*0*11
5*21*6*0
0*14*10*0
So A1*A2=150 if I then multiply by A3 I get 0, but I need to ignore the cells that have 0.
So for the last example my answer would be 140.
I'm trying to create a formula that takes from "Manual" Sheet the number from colume G2 and multiply it by the percentage in sheet "AllocationRule".
My formula currently is =Manual!$G$2*AllocationRule!$B5.
What needs to happen is that the total number in "Manual" needs to be distributed evenly in 4 rows by the percentages allocated in "AllocationRule".
Right now I can't copy my formula over to the sheet because the "AllocationRule" should stop at B5 and not go further and the G2 from "Manual" should not change for the percentage allocation but should change to the next row for the next month.
And then after I've done the calculation I want the LOB in "AllocationRule" to be displayed in the LOB in "H1913_H1914" but I'm not sure what formula to use.
In my spreadsheet I have a column (C) that consists of 20 rows. Within this column a calculation is done with only one value (currency) that appears based on the calculation criteria. All other rows are 0 (currency) and the correct calculation can be in any of the 20 rows.
In an adjacent column (say E10) I want the appropriate value to be entered from column C.
I want to sum a column and then display the result but in the same cell put some text:-.....

=SUMPRODUCT($B1177:$B1204)*24
It is becoming tedious to copy/paste the formula - Is there a formula that would define all cells in Column C to be the sum of the last 28 rows of Column B?
As part of a larger macro, the code below is supposed to start the separation of data into 4 columns. It doesn't work perfectly though and I have to manually inspect data and correct. The problem is that 22: 8- 3- 3 becomes 8- 3- 3 in the second column, which is what I want. However 60:12- 7-10 becomes 7/12/2010. Excel appears to recognise it as a date, when the extra number is in the second column.

I have DAta in Col A (Med ID ) and B has number of events assocaited with the unique ID. The Unique ID is also in Col C from another data source. I wnat to return the value from Col B in in Col C that mathces the MD ID if available. There are several more col in the sheet that have other dta that is not assocaited with this. I'd like to search for text and get the column character where the cell with the found text. The combination the two 'demands'/formulae into one are giving me problems. And the fact that the column character can exist out of two characters I cannot solve.
I can get the column number with HLookup right? and it gives me the column number, not the character. I can solve this partially (and ugly even more) with =Char(((Hlookup etc)+64 (letter before A))).
I have few numbers in Column "A". Few are normal figures & few are decimal numbers, like this:

Now I want to filter only the decimal numbers, so that after filter the result will show like this:
5.63
4.5

125.5
But I don't want to use any other column for doing so. I can do it using MOD in other column but I want the result in the same column.
Attached is a spreadsheet that contains a list of Football teams (F) with corrasponding numbers next to them (E). In column A is a list of footballers and column B has a corrasponding number. WHat I want to be able to do is type in the footballers names in A and type a number next to them in B, in column C it would read off the corrasponding Team number and populate it with the team name. In the attached example I'll manually list the fist teams in B, i need a formula todo this for me. Probably quite simple.
