View 3 RepliesI have a spread sheet that I have written that has 2 html links in it. The links work, but they only open in one browser tab. How do I get them to open in different tabs? Opening in two different browser sessions would be acceptable too. I have Excel 2007 and IE 9 but the users may have different versions.

Anyway, I wanted a piece of code that would allow me to open a default browser window from an Excel Macro.

This seems to work just fine.
What I want to do now, however, is something like this:

Is it even possible to write the two hypothetical functions described above?
In addition, I notice that they example given in the link that I posted also suggests ActiveWorkbook.FollowHyperlink. This seems to work just as well, without needing the ShellExecute prototype. Is there any way that I can get a "handle" for the window that was opened with FollowHyperlink and re-focus on that window?

View 6 Replies View RelatedDoing Inventory on my excel sheet.
Every week I do inventory on my excel sheet, I have a link for every row and for the past months, I have been clicking through every link as I do my inventory. It's all fine and well until my inventory grew and now clicking through every link every week becomes frustrating.
I am looking for a code that when run will automatically open any hyperlink in column B if the value in column A is less than 0.
I'm having a problem with copying numbers from web browser to excel.
For example I want to copy number 2013072210000117 but Excel displays it like this 2013072210000110. I tried to change Cell formatting but no success.
I have 1000 urls to view everyday and identify type of website. Everyday i have to copy that url from excel and paste in browser which consume lot lot time for me. Is it possible to create vba in excel so when i select or move on that url cell (not to click on any click button) url get open in excel only.
This will reduce my work 80%.
I've been playing about with this for ages, I have row 'U' which I manually link to local JPG files. Basically it has the word "HERE" and linked to a JPG that opens when you click it.
I'm really looking to just RIGHT CLICK a cell in column U, it opens a file browser, when I select the file it places HERE in the cell and links it to the file I've selected.
I have this code that I have been using fine until today when it just stop working for me... It's a simple copy and paste using VBA Code. The code finds the last row in Column A and copies the cell to L1. Below you will find the code I'm using and the line in yellow is where I'm getting the error.
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Range("A1").End(xlDown).Select
Selection.Copy
Range("L1").Select
ActiveSheet.Paste
Range("A1").Select
Application.CutCopyMode = False
UserForm.Show
End Sub
This codes runs as soon as the worksheet opens and it has worked for over a year. I'm using MS Excel 2007. Please let me know what you guys think I have tried pretty much everything I can think of but i dont really know what i'm doing when it comes to VBA.
Checkbox.JPG
So I have an 2 ActiveX button and 2 ActiveX checkboxes. I have it set up so that the Split button will enable when both checkboxes are checked. The ClearAll button has a code/macro in it that will check the "Cleared All" checkbox when the Clearall button is pressed.
My problem is with the "Populated Data" checkbox. I want it to check/uncheck itself if there is anything in Range("A1") of a tab called "Data".
The names of these buttons/checkboxes are
"Cleared All" = ClearCheckBox
"Populated Data" = DataCheckBox
"Split" = SplitButton
Is there anyway to read a specific cell from many excel files automatically and add them to a new workbook?
I tried to link that specific cell to a new workbook manually but now I have a problem: If I change the name of any workbook that is linked to the new workbook, Excel can't update the new file name
I am trying to do something which is very slow and manual. What i have is like a seperate spreadsheet from every day and have to save each one down manually in the respective date. so for example column C has the date in already. Can you tell me how to save all the excel workbooks which are open (if i open them all) and then use the date in column C (which is in the format 20090217) and save it as a xls in the format 170209 and then close the workbooks?
sorry this is a huge question, just takes me so long to save them all.
I am using Excel 2013. I have a spreadsheet that has a lot of very tall cells. When I use the scrollbar to scroll to certain parts of the spreadsheet it will automatically scroll up or down to the top of a cell. So if I want to view the middle of two tall cells that take up the whole screen it will automatically scroll up to the top of the highest cell that I'm currently viewing.
I just want to be able to scroll to where I want to scroll without Excel moving me up or down. I've tried to find answers on message boards but no luck.
I have an issue with two columns in Excel 2007. The first one has a bunch of numbers that run from top to bottom and I would like to move all of the negative numbers from the first column to the second one. I understand that this can be done with the IF command

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a few 2007 workbooks that are set up to track and compare individual budgets over time. The majority of the cells are referencing workbooks that have yet to be created.
On opening these workbooks the users are confronted with an informational window informing them that "This workbook contains one or more links that cannot be updated", to which they are instructed to choose "Continue". Is there code I can add to these workbooks that would automatically choose "Continue" once a user enables the security warning for Automatic updates of links? I believe this would be the same as an On Open event.
The background is that I only use macros for a few limited files to save me some time spent on monotonous clicking. Well, yesterday I made three little macros that clear the info in three weekly files and save each with a new date (in preparation for me adding the new info). When I left yesterday, the macros worked as intended. I come in to work this morning, and each of those files now open automatically whenever I open any other file in Excel (just for the first one, nothing happens if I open a second).

I'm sure there is a function someplace for this that can be used in a macro.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a peice of code that i know is inefficient and it is in danger of becoming too large. I have a spreadsheet that has circles aligned to each cell. There are around 100 in total. The code changes the colour of the shape based on the cell value in which it sits. However, the code needs changing and also it does not automatically update the colour shape even though the cell value changes. I have to manually select a cell and then the formula bar and then press return for it to update.

This is the code i am using for each shape.

I have created a spreadsheet that displays new dates in column D based on provided dates in Column B and recurrence intervals selected in column C. The dates in column D are when a training deadline occurs. I have been trying to get a macros written so that when a cell in column d is updated, an outlook appointment message is sent to the person doing the updating. The idea here is that anyone can use this without future coding (so their address would be placed in cell say A1)
So far all i have gotten is excel to send an email to me with the excel spreadsheet as an attachment, not really what I want. Again, I dont want somethign specific to my computer settings, I want to be able to send the spreadsheet out with simple instructions for the user to change their email in cell A1 and then every time a cell changes in column D, it automatically generate an appointment reminder for the new date.
