Open Multiple Workbooks Based On Cell Values And Copy And Paste Information?
Apr 22, 2014
I tried all failed. We have about 160 different workbooks (one for each business unit) stored online. Staff enters information about their weekly revenue and expenses and here at head office I collect that information and consolidate them. What I am trying to do is that;1.) Create a master Workbook with ~160 worksheets (One worksheet for each unit) named exactly the same with other workbooks2.) And macro can pull the information from related files stored in a certain folderIt is very much like another members problem but I am not sure why I cant get that code working for me? [URL]
In my consolidating spreadsheet there are 6 columns that show the file path, the worksheet name, and cell range to copy. There can be an unlimited number of rows (each row represents another path). I would like the VBA to copy/paste values from each range specified in each row and copy them into the consolidating worksheet named "copied".
Each time the VBA copies/paste values from the cell range specified in each row it needs to copy below the previous copied and pasted information in the worksheet named copied.
In the worksheet with the file paths etc shown below (named "list"), I would like the VBA to show the Date and Time each piece was copied and pasted. For each path I would like to show in the last column if the copy and paste operation was successful ("yes" or "no"), this is more or less the error handeling....
I am successfully opening a .csv file using a variable value stored in a named range in my Main file (the variable includes the directory and path). I copy data from the .csv file to the Main file then I need to close the .csv file without saving but I want to do that by using the
command where "xxxx" is the namedrange in my Main file which stores the .csv filename (without the directory and path prefix).
I can use the
command but if I have another workbook open, this one closes instead of the .csv file I opened from the macro.
I realise this is probably very basic and I've searched the forums but can't find any identical postings.
I have a created a main workbook with a macro that opens workbooks on a particular sheet from a list of workbook paths and filenames in the main workbook. The macro are suppose to copy the sheet and paste it into a sheet with a new name that I have defined from the list in the main workbook. I can get the macro to open the workbooks and close them. But I can't get the macro to copy the sheet into the main workbook.
I have attached the code and the workbook. I used slet_ark to delete previous sheet and hentark and henttekstfil to open the different workbooks.
The code I use are:
Public Sub Slet_ark() Dim ark() As Variant Dim Counter As Long Dim FirstSheet As Long Dim LastSheet As Long
I am trying to create a macro that will copy any folders that exist in any of the paths listed in the first column. The folders should be copied to the path of the open workbook containing the macro. Below is the macro I have currently, much of which was taken from information I found in this thread [URL]....
Sub wrapper3() x = 1 Set fs = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") While Sheets("Air").Cells(x, 1) <> "" v = InStrRev(Sheets("Air").Cells(x, 1), "") dest = ActiveWorkbook.Path & Mid(Sheets("Air").Cells(x, 1), v, 99)
This code seems to work fine if all of the folders exist to be copied. My problem is that some do not and it is creating a "Path Not Found" error for which I need a fix. If the folder doesn't exist at the path nothing should be copied and the next path can be evaluated.
Need VBA macro that will copy & paste (Special > AS VALUES) from one of two (Data A & B) sheets based on the contents of a validation cell ($D$4) in a third (Report) sheet? The destination starting cell would be $F$11. ALSO - I'd like to have the Named Ranges "DataAExtract" & "DataBExtract" used in the code (for the COPY region) so I can see an example of how to reflect my actual named ranges in my working file.
The reason for doing this is that the "c.Characters...." lines in my conditional formatting macros (attached) are not working on cells containing formula output (in my working file the Report page is all populated by VLOOKUP results), but the macros run fine on hard-coded values. In my attached workbook, I'd like to have the "NEW" macro for the copy & paste step fire first in the sequence of macros running after the FORM button-click (control located in cell $D$5 of the Report sheet), whether that's by writing a new macro and calling mine before the new one ends, OR by consolidating all of my macros plus the new one into one smooth progression.
With this low-tech approach I can get updated VALUES into the report area once the user selects a data source and a customer on the report sheet. The COPY ranges in my working spreadsheet will update based on the selections made in the report page. I tried recording a macro and then modifying the recorded code to add the "If > Then" functionality I'm looking for, but I'm pretty green when it comes to VBA code and syntax.
how to loop through workbooks in a certain directory and copy the rows in sheet1 where column B contains numbers greater than zero, and then pasting them into a new master workbook. The sheets will be named differently each week but will always be in the same directory.
Please see attached sample worksheet. Column A will be generated by the user manually.
I'm looking for a way in VBA to have A1:D20 in Sheet2 copied and pasted in the "Bank Reconciliation" Sheet based on how many "Markets" there are in Column A. Then, once that's complete to have A22:D30 (the smaller box in Sheet2) copied and pasted directly below those results.
I have what the macro would hopefully generate to the right in "Bank Reconciliation" (B6:E54) as an example. So if there's a market in A1, copy and paste the box to B6. If there's a market in A2, copy and paste the box directly below the first (B26) etc. etc. until it's done, then paste the smaller box directly below whatever the macro generates.
I also have a workbook called DecMonthlyTotal in the same folder with the same named worksheets.
I am looking for a macro to be placed in the DecMonthlyTotal that will pull the data from the Cashable12-13 worksheets from Function1, Function2 and Function3 and paste special the values into workbook DecMonthlyTotal, worksheet name Cashable12-13, it will also pull the data from the NonCashable12-13 worksheets from Function1, Function2 and Function3 and paste special the values into workbook DecMonthlyTotal, worksheet name NonCashable12-13
Both the Cashable12-13 and the NonCashable12-13 have Columns A - G The row that the macro should start the copying from is Row 3 for each of the workbooks; however I don't have an end row for the workbooks as this will vary.
I want to build a database where the user can select a specific time period. I have a static file with the time periods and the related values. For instance I have in column A1:A15 the time periods from January 2011 to Dezember 2011, but I have some dates multiple times as there are more values attached to it. For instance I have in the first 4 rows January 2011...what I want is when someone puts in the value January 2011 in cell B1 and Dezember 2011 in cell B2 that the whole static file gets copied to another location (including the multiple dates) displaying the chosen time period. Similarly if someone puts in the value March 2011 to November 2011, I want only those values to be copied.
I've recorded a Marco copying and pasting information from one cell to other cells and some of the copying functions paste to two cells. I just need this to loop through all information I'm copying from the the new cells.
Currently I have it setup to copy rows to a sheet "Report" based on a single cell value. But now I need the same thing but have it copy the rows based on 2 cells values to sheet "Report". So for example I wanted to copy and paste each row in my workbook that contain values in Columns N:N that contain the value "Test" and in columns AB:AB that contain "1".
Sub copyagain() Application.ScreenUpdating = False Dim sh As Worksheet, findThis As String, fAdr As String, fLoc As Range findThis = "1"
I have been trying for months to get this to work by altering code from similar requests I've hunted down on google to no avail.
I am looking to have a "Master" sheet that is populated by data from 30+ individual excel workbooks. Each workbook is contained on a server in a directory "O:JobsJobs In Progress." In that directory are subfolders (named in sequence "C12000 Job1", "C12001 Job2", etc) which contain the actual workbook (Named according to number ie. "C12000 Jobinfo").
I would like this "Master" to automatically pull specific values from each C1200* workbook and paste them in a designated cell so that I can quickly look at specific information contained in each workbook. Each C1200* workbook is constructed the same way.
Short Example of C1200* workbook in which data will be pulled from:
Job Number C12000 PM Abe Lincoln Foreman Thomas Edison Contract Date 1/1/10
I have excel from windows 8 and I am trying to copy the information on one cell on a sheet to multiple sheets. I tried the click on one tab hold shift and click on the last tab and type the information or press F2 or paste the information. Well, nothing works.
I have a spreadsheet that contains numerous ranges on different sheets with monthly data. The year begins with all formulas for forecasted data and as each month passes I need to copy/paste values in the current month column to reflect "actual" data vs. "forecasted". I would like to simplify this by using VBA, based on an inputbox ("current month") to find the month in each range and copy/paste values.
I am trying to create a macro to copy multiple sheets to a single named worksheet, all within the same workbook. The code below works, except I want to copy only the data (no formulas). Can I add code to paste values, or do I need to start over?
Public Sub CopyandPaste() Dim ws As Worksheet Worksheets("Summary").UsedRange.Delete For Each ws In Worksheets If ws.Name <> "Summary" Then ws.Range("a2"). CurrentRegion.Copy _ Destination:=Worksheets("Summary").Range("A65536").End(xlUp)
I would like to copy and paste the values from a worksheet (HS-Detail) in a file to different tabs depending on the value in column A (Regions). I have a macro that works but it pastes the formulas and it takes quiet a while to run due to the number of records. How can I alter this to paste just the values and speed up the macro?
I am very new to Macro programming. I want to set up a macro which will copy data from few cells in a sheet and paste them as "Values" to certain specific locations in another sheet based on criteria. This copy paste needs to be done for about 40 different cells. I want to fix this with a button on the source sheet, so that this process happens when the button is clicked. I am attaching a sample file showing what I need.
What I have is a master file that needs to pull info from other sources (a simple copy and paste) those files are called Inventory_xxxx.xlsm . Inside the master file, there are cells with the number of the inventory.
What i need is a way to tell excel to check what number is in the cell, open the files with that number, get the info from the files and paste it back in the master file... and the part that i consider the trickiest, a way to loop it.
For example, lets say i have 2248 in cell A10, it should open Inventory_2248.xlsm copy the contents from cell N4, O4, P4, Q4, R4 and S4(Inventory File) into N10,R10,S10,T10 and U10 (Master file) respectively then in A11, there could be a 2250 so it should open the 2250 file get the info, paste it and so on.....
Now I don't even know if this is do-able or just impossible, been fiddling with various codes to no avail.
Got a requet from a client that we can't do with out accounting software. Basically I have a folder of all the clients indivisual invoices for 2008. We want to put together a report that will include the employee name, invoice date, and amount. But the only way to get this right now that I see is to sift though the hundreds of workbooks we have for them, one by one. Is there something that can be set up to pull 3, 4, or 5 of the same fields say cell A1, B3, C3, and D6 our of every workbook in a single folder on our network?
Is it possible to VLookUp Data between multiple workbooks (12 different workbooks to be exact) in one master sheet?
I would like the master sheet to find the empty data for the item number. Basically, how can I automatically populate the empty data for each item number in the master sheet. Every item will be different. The 12 workbooks are invoices throughout the year (Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, etc) and these workbooks have the data needed to fill the master sheet. How is this possible? Or is it not?
Master sheet.xlsx -Contains item number -Purchase Date -Sell Date -Purchase Price -Sell Price -Profit Price
The 12 workbooks are the 12 months out of the year, which are invoices.
- Contain the data needed in the master sheet such as sell date, sold price, and profit.
The reason I would like to keep the 12 invoices as workbooks instead of worksheets in 1 big file, is due to the high capacity of item numbers each monthly invoice would have. For example (approximately 500 items in each workbook)
I have for hours and weeks, actually months, But I haven't found any sources on the internet, although I have seen the VLook Up how to's on youtube between 2 workbooks, but not the 12 I would like.
I have spent a few days searching through forums but cannot find examples that i have been able to successfully adapt ( because they are to complicated for my limited knowledge). I have a workbook with 5 sheets, sheet1 (current), and sheet 4 (archive) are the important ones. I need a macro to
A) copy rows from "current" to "archive" ( to the 1st empty row) if column S of "current" contains "Closed" ( the word is generated by formula).
B) The paste needs to paste special values and number formats ( want to lose formula but not conditional formatting).
C) data sort "archives" based on col A - this puts the newly archived data into correct sequence.Data sort lowest number 1st
D) delete the copied rows from "current".
e) give me a count of how many rows it deleted, (I have a macro to insert rows so will run that manually to recreate the correct number of emtpy rows (with formula and formatting) to bring the current sheet back to usual size.
I tried modifying a macro by RPaulson (based on cells on one sheet to cells on another), to work with entire rows but couldn't get it to work.
Found that paste special uses PasteSpecial xlPasteValues, but , and thats about it.
