Remove Duplicates From Column 1 And Concatenate Column 2?

My issue is that I have 1200+ addresses to make more readable - the first column is the street name, the second is the post code(s) relative to the street - what Ideally I'd like to achieve is one row per street, the street name followed by the post codes... i.e. take this...

Excel 2007 :: Remove Duplicates In Column B For Each Value In Column A?

Jan 8, 2014

I need to remove the duplicates under column B for each item under column A and I can't seem to figure out how to do it.

I'm using Excel 2007; I would prefer a VBA solution, as I have to do this on a monthly basis. However, if a formula is the best way to go, then that's just fine. Either way, I'm preparing the data for a pivot table. I am unable to post the actual document in the interest of data protection.

Essentially, I'd like to turn this-

_ A B
1 Paris Bill
2 Paris Bill
3 Paris Mike
4 Paris Derek
5 Paris Derek
6 London Mike
7 London Bill
8 London Mike
9 London Bill
10 London Derek
11 Tokyo Derek
12 Tokyo Derek
13 Tokyo Derek

into this-

_ A B
1 Paris Bill
2 Paris Mike
3 Paris Derek
4 London Mike
5 London Bill
6 London Derek
7 Tokyo Derek

In other words, each city should have only one instance of any name that accompanies it; not all names will accompany each city.

Remove Duplicates From A Column

Jan 13, 2008

how can i remove duplictes from a colum. For example:

Column C:

A;B;C;A;D;E;A;G;B *(A is three times here and B two times!)
F;G;H;I;F*(F is here two times)

I would like to have the duplicates removed from each cell in column C so that each member is unique in the cell. The example would then look like:

Column C: (after removing the dupplicates A and B in first cell and F in second cell)

A;B;C;D;E;G
F;G;H;I

Concatenate Cells And Remove Duplicates

Jun 23, 2014

I currently have a spreadsheet that contains about 1700 lines of data related to ~400 different clients which I am looking to consolidate.

The data is currently in this format (a set like this repeated ~400 times with anywhere between 3 and 7 services):

Company ID #
Company Name
Service1

Company ID #
Company Name
Service2

Company ID #
Company Name
Service3

I would like to have the data in this format (one row per company with all of the services in the third column concatenated into a single cell, all while removing the duplicate rows.)

Company ID #
Company Name
Service1, Service2, Service3

How to create the code (or describe the process) necessary to do this?

Concatenate Varying Numbers Of Cells Based On Duplicates Found In Separate Column

Jul 25, 2011

I need to concatenate varying numbers of cells based on duplicates found in a separate column, but I'm not sure how to approach it. I have 41,000+ rows of data, so I have to find a formula.

Example:

1AB2Denton, PaulFB357D4D3OwensTest, MarcyFB539F934Brennan,
JosephFB539F935Bowser, AmyFB539F936LaRock, ChuckFB667D3B

Based on duplicates in column B, I want to combine the data in column A into one cell. The duplicates in column B could be only 2, or could be 20+.

Look At Column In Table Remove Duplicates And Sort To Another Table

Mar 19, 2014

I have a list of parts in a table. I am manually copy/pasting this list to another sheet in my workbook and then using DATA→Remove Duplicates to get a shortened list. Is there a way to automate this process?

In the attached workbook I want the yellow cells to auto-fill for me.

I get a lot of lists in the format on the left hand side so I want excel to automatically format them for me so that I can use the output on the right.

UDF To Concatenate Column Range Conditional Upon Another Column

Jul 11, 2012

Writing a UDF for VBA as I'm getting frustrated by the concatenate function.

I basically want to create my own function that will concatenate values in column B, if the value in column A is correct.

I've been looking at this link [URL] ......

With a very simple data set as an example, I want the following output in column C:

pet
food
conc

cat
chicken
chicken,fish,catnip

[Code] ........

I think I need to create a cell based function which takes a conditional range (col A) and concatenate range (col B) as inputs, stores this as a 5 by 3 array and then returns the concatenated output I wish (by referencing the stored array) based on what value is in column A. A "concatenate if", if you like.

Concatenate Column With Adjacent Column In Loop

Sep 27, 2007

I had a problem finding something then deleting the column, I tried to alter the code from that thread to solve a new problem and I am close (I think), but not quite there. I need to find the column "Group" and merge it with the column "Sex" which is offset by 1 column. This code will go through and find the column "Group" and merge for the first cell, but will then get stuck in a loop just concatenating "Sex" to the end continuously. I need it to concatenate both columns entirely together. Any simple fix to what I modified? Previous thread should you be interested:Find Part Text On All Sheets & Delete The Column.

Find Duplicates In Column A And Calculate Difference Between Times In Column B

Apr 4, 2009

I love this forum, and am usually able to find the help I need without bothering anyone However this one has me stumped and I wonder if anyone can help. It feels like it should be a fairly simple solution, but they can often be the ones that are most eluding LOL!

I have two columns; in column A are incoming telephone numbers and in column B are the date and time the calls were made. (I've put a few hashes in column A just to maintain confidentiality of the numbers, but in reality the cell is formatted as text in order to maintain the leading zero, and entries will follow the format 01234567890)

A sample would look like this:

0##6270####01-Mar-2009 00:01:440##6271####01-Mar-2009 00:03:020##6271####01-Mar-2009 00:03:040##6272####01-Mar-2009 00:16:330##6273####01-Mar-2009 00:30:490##6274####01-Mar-2009 00:55:470##6274####01-Mar-2009 01:06:170##6274####01-Mar-2009 01:07:420##6275####01-Mar-2009 01:08:360##6275####01-Mar-2009 01:11:410##6276####01-Mar-2009 01:13:45

Some numbers only call in once, I need to identify them as only called once.

Some numbers call twice, if they do I need to be able to show time it took between call 1 and call 2.

Some numbers call more than twice. For each successive call I need to be able to show the time since the previous call.

In my mind, the results table would need to look something like this:

NumberTime of callTime between
1st and 2nd call
Time between
2nd and 3rd call
Time between
3rd and 4th call
0##6270####01-Mar-2009 00:01:44Only called once0##6271####01-Mar-2009 00:03:0200:00:020##6272####01-Mar-2009 00:16:33Only called once0##6273####01-Mar-2009 00:30:49Only called once0##6274####01-Mar-2009 00:55:4700:10:3000:01:250##6275####01-Mar-2009 01:08:3600:03:050##6276####01-Mar-2009 01:13:45Only called once

Duplicates In Column - Which To Keep Based On Other Column

Jan 30, 2014

I have a data set of property sales that represent properties sold twice over a period of time (each address is represented twice in one column but they are 2 different transactions and the remainder of the row data varies). I am looking for a formula or method to remove the duplicates, but I want to remove the duplicate that sold for less.

The entire row is not a duplicate, only the address. There is another column with sale price and I would want it to keep each address of the 2 (or sometimes 3) that is highest. I intend to use a pivot table to analyze and realized that the data is skewed because everything is showing up at least twice.

Concatenate Column With Row Value

Sep 27, 2006

I have created vbscript that references a particular column and row. This cell is referred to many times in the scripting but the row may change from time to time. I would like to know how I can define the row value at the top and reference this row within my vbscript.

Dim row As Integer
row = 1

'vb script coding referring to cell
ws.Range("B&row").Copy Destination:= Sheets("Summary").Range("B1")
ws.Range("E&row").Copy Destination:=Sheets("Summary").Range("B16")
ws.Range("F&row").Copy Destination:=Sheets("Summary").Range("B17")

I tried to concatenate the row to the column but it doesn't seem to work. When I would like to change the row value I would like to only make the change where row is defined rather than within each line of coding.

Duplicates Finding Entries In Column A Which Match Any Of Column C Entries

May 7, 2014

What I need to do is sort certain entries in longer list (column A, it is in .csv format and needs to be in it so coordinates and names and ID, all sorted with commas) and I have another list (column C) which is shorter list of certain IDs. I googled and tried and got some results for the basic structure but the fuction seems to fail. It doesn't matter how I get that third list done, but there is only one criteria: since the list in column A is really long and those entries need to keep the .csv formatting, the function should copy that info what is in the matching cells.

Let me try to put it simple: .csv cells from column A that have matching ID from column C should be copied to column B (or N).

the function I'm working with right now is

=IF(ISERROR(FIND($C:$C; A1))=TRUE;"0";A1)
