I have a huge excel file (who doesn't ) and would like to create a macro to select cells between 2 blanc cells in a column. (Then another macro will continue to select all in the table for that specific range and copy-paste to another sheet. But this part is not relevant)
The details
The table will be like below.
So the macro should select between F2:F6. (then another macro will copy F6:A3 and cut-copy this range to another sheet); and when I re-run this macro this time it will copy the range of Model B..
I would like to search Column C for an instance of the text "Std. Residual", then cycle through the non blank cells to the right and run some formatting code:
VB: 'this line will be modified so that i cycle through the non blank cells that i have found For row_cycle = 1 To 7 'not signifcant If Abs(ActiveCell) < 1.96 Then Selection.Interior.Color = 255
[Code] .....
I then want to search for the next instance of "Std. Residual" in Column C, do the same again, and so on for the entire Worksheet.
I can I select all non-blank cells (including constants and formulas) in a sheet? I am familiar with SpecialCells(xlCellTypeConstants) and SpecialCells.(xlCellTypeFormulas) but these seem to be mutually exclusive.
Can I do something like: NOT SpecialCells(xlCellTypeBlanks)?
I have a spreadsheet which always contains data beginning in column A and through row H. However, there may be blank cell(s) in columns B through G. Therefore, if I use
Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlDown)).Select
it will not take me to column H if say column d has a blank cell. The same applies to my rows which always vary.
I have an excel file and what i want is to sum two different columns to a third one, however there are some important notes:
1. Column A has dates
2. Column B has numbers f.e. 25, 30, 35 etc. , which have to be added to dates of column 1 , so a new date will be created in the new column
3. Colums A and B are not next to each other.
4. Some cells of column A and column B are blank , actually columns are sth like this
A B C 5/2/2014 25 blank blank 8/5/2014 35 10/9/2014 30 blank blank
When a date value occurs in a cell of column A , then always a number will occur in column B
When a cell is blank is column A , then the respective cell of column B will also be blank
What i want is to add values of column A and B to create column C automatically ( each column has 1000 cells ) , however in case of blank cells , i want a blank cell in column C, not something like #####
Apart from this , i want in the future , when i expand column A and B , when values are entered there, i want column C to be created automatically.
I am using a Uderform in order to check if some cells in several columns are higher or lower than values I set in my textboxes.
However, I think I am having a mistake in my code (it runs but doesnt return the correct informations) as I have blank cells in certain columns.
Concretely I am giving 1 point if the criteria is valid (if for example the value in the cell is <= 1) but some of these criteria are 1 when they should be 0.
As I said it runs but I need to add a fix for empty cells / blank cells and if possible N/A error cells in this so that the code gives 0 to the criteria and moves to the next column (next select case)..
I have a spreadsheet which is used by users unfamiliar with Excel. They are using the filter to select records, however when this is used some records appear which have no entry in the cells of that column. Can I overcome this? There is no data in the blank cells, other than a data validation drop down.
I was curious if it is possible to give a single cell multiple number formats based on what the number is in the cell. So for example if my number is bigger than 1000, I would like to use comas so that it looks like this 1,000. However, if it is less than 1000 I would like it to look more like this 999.00.
I would like a macro to do this...If a cell in column G is blank and the cell in the same row in column C is NOT blank, highlight the blank cell in column G Red.
I need the search to stop ONLY when it gets down to the bottom-most row of data in column A.
Note: Any row headers will always be in row 1 only
The above code works fine when I have information stored in multiple cells (C9, C10, C11, etc.). However, if I only have data stored in C9, my selection is expanded to the last row. I need a way to select all the data up to first empty cell even if the only cell containing data is C9.
In cells A71:A140 I have the following formula: =IF(A4"";A4;"").
How can I select only the cells in range A71:A140 where the formula has returned a value (number or text) and not the blank cells? When I try ctrl + shift + down arrow, all cells in the range are selected...
1. Find the last row (cell) of data in the "Customer Number" column. This search should be by the name "Customer Number" rather than by column letter because the column that "Customer Number" will be in can change.
2. Find the column named "Purple" (also by name for same reason)
3. If the "Purple" column has no blank cells in those same number of rows as the "Customer Number" column, delete the whole "Purple" column.
However, I want to ignore the "" cells and the truly blank cells... However, I think all of them will have "" since I have this formula in all of the ones I'm putting in the range:
[Code]....
How do I go about getting these results into a named range so I can use it on validation since validation only seems to ignore truly blank cells and not the "" ones.
I've been working on a macro which delivers a daily report. the report is made up of 4 sections (received orders, scheduled orders, pending orders and unusual orders) each section is topped by a title which is a merge of all columns (A through I) the problem I am having is that the first column displays case numbers (to be displayed in text or number formats) and the 7th and 8th columns are dates When I try to have the VBA select the first column to format as a number, it will select all columns due to the merged cells is there a way to format only non-merged cells of a columns
This is the section I currently use for formatting but it doesn't actually work, (everything ends up in a date format)
How do I select or highlight cells from row 1 through row x (a numeric variable) in column A? I'm eventually hoping to shift those cells in column A (from row 1 to x) to the right by one.
How would you select cell values from differing rows based on the name in an adjacent column. ie, if it says John, add that data to the source data, if not move on.
In sheet "diary" I have data in certain rows in column A8:C10000 that contains values if a certain condition is met. I need a vba to copy and past only non blank cells in column D8:F10000. I first wrote a formula with index but it takes too long to caculate.
I want to create a 'capture all' formula that adds up cells in a column This column may contain blank cells in one column but when copied to another column, the same row may contain a value.
example I want the sum of A5 + A8 + A10 + A22 but in column A cell A5 may be blank and so may A22 but when the formula is copied to column B all the cells may contain a value
When I try to do it I receive a Value# error for columns containing blank cells I don't want to do a separate formula for each column
I am creating a chart and want to get a count of only the blank cells in Column D only if there is information contained in Column A (same row). I am using Excel 2003.
I know that "Alt + =" (Alt + Equal Sign) is a shortcut key combination that will sum a row or column of numbers. The problem is that it stops when it encounters a blank or empty cell and won't sum the entire row/column. I know I can create a macro to get around this, but is there a standard shortcut key or option setting that will quickly sum the entire row/column even when it contains empty cells?
