# Using COUNTIF To Return Matching Array Values With A CONDITION

May 9, 2014

I'm having a difficult time returning COUNTIF values for a positive match between 2 columns THAT meet a certain condition. Basically I want to iterate through column A sheet 1 (ONLY for values where column B is paid) and return a count for every instance there is a match of value A sheet 1 in column A sheet 2. In other words, I'm looking to find the number of ids marked as paid from Column A sheet 1 that exist in Column A sheet 2. I don't wish to return the actual ids, just the total count.

I've tried the following but I know there's an error in iterating through Column A the way I have it:

=COUNTIFS(Sheet1!\$ColA:\$ColA,Sheet2!\$ColA:\$ColA,Sheet1!\$ColB:\$ColB,"paid")

Sheet1:
ColA
ColB

123
paid

[Code] .....

Sheet2:
ColA
ColB

23
NY

[Code] .....

## Return Values Of Adjacent Cells When Condition Is True Omitting Values Where Condition Is False?

Jan 15, 2014

Here's a simplified example:

ColA
ColB
ColC

Row1
A
Y
A

Row2
B
N
D

[Code] .........

I'm looking to return the values in column A adjacent to the cells in Column B equal to "Y". The kicker has been returning only the cells where the condition is true. Column C displays the desired behavior.

The closest I've been able to get is with a simple IF statement but I'm pretty sure the answer is a far cry away from there and likely requires an array formula. I'd prefer not to use VLOOKUP or OFFSET but will if the alternative is very complex.

## Dynamic Array Of Worksheets Matching Condition

Jun 13, 2007

im currently using a static array to select multiple sheets at once which works alongside another Sub

Sheets(Array("Group1", "Group2", "Group3", "Group4")).Select

i have a button that creates a new sheet and names it "GroupX" X being the next number, it automatically adds on the right number by itself and it works fine...
i want it my array to be dynamic so that i dont have to manually edit the array and the macro every time i add a new sheet.

i have tried things like:

Dim MyArray As Variant
Dim Shts As String

K = Sheets.Count - 4
For p = 1 To K

Shts = "Group" + p

Redim MyArray(K) As String

MyArray(K) = Shts

Next p

Sheets(MyArray(K)).Select

## CountIF With 2 Names And Return Amount Of Matching Times

Nov 26, 2012

I'm trying to do a countif that matches 2 names and returns the amount of times the 2 name matches is in the list. Ihave first names in column a and the surnames in column B.

And there are lots like so

John
Greenwood

Bill

## Return Highest Value Of Column Headings With Matching Text In Array?

Mar 7, 2013

I have an array of data with multiple codes stored in text...

I want to set a formula in a cell to look for all instances of specific text in an array. Then compare the value of all of the column headings, which are numbered across the top of the array, which contain a match in that column and return the highest value.

Example: 10x10 array, columns 1,3, and 5 contain "text" somewhere in those columns. Formula would return 5.

## Matching Array Values To Other Values In A Certain Range

Aug 3, 2006

i have a very large spreadsheet filled with telephone numberS and some other codes that go with them...i need to match the codes with the phone numbers.

Sub TRCO()
Dim TNs As Long
Dim i As Long
Dim TempArray() As String
Dim TRCO As String
Dim CD03 As String
Dim ASOC As Range
TRCO = "TRCO"
CD03 = "CD034DF1"
'Filter TN's
Columns("B:B").EntireColumn.Insert
Set tempRange = Range("A6", Range("A65000").End(xlUp))
With tempRange

## Array With Values From Cells Matching A Criteria

Oct 3, 2009

How do you load an array with values from cells matching a criteria?

I want to look for the number 1 in row 5 and put the Adjacent values in Row 2 in an array.
So here my array should have 1,3,6

Dim CountOne As Integer
CountOne = Application.WorksheetFunction.CountIf(Worksheets("Tool Administration Form").Range("B8:AE8"), "1")

Dim All As Variant
Dim rCell As Range
Dim ArrCnt As Integer
Dim lArrVar As Long
ArrVar = 0

Do
For Each rCell In Worksheets("Tool Administration Form").Range("B8:AE8")
If rCell = 1 Then
ArrCnt = ArrCnt + 1
All = Cells(-3, 0).Value
End If
Next rCell

Loop Until ArrCnt = CountOne
I keep getting errors... I don' tknow how to fill the array properly wiht the values in the cells.

Example:
A B C D E F G
1
2 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
3
4
5 1 2 1 3 3 2 1 4

## CountIf: Return Column C In The INDI LEG VALUES Table

Jan 20, 2010

I know would like to return column C in the INDI LEG VALUES table if the following occurs

## Return Value In Third Column If Values In First Two Columns Matching?

Mar 20, 2014

I have a two different workbooks book 1 and book 2 with some data.

If values of first two columns ( Column A and B) of both workbooks are matching then I want a formula that can return the value of third column (column c) of book 2 in book 1 column c.

example:

Book 1

column A / Column B / Column C

100 / 200 /

Book 2

Column A / Column B / Column C

100 / 200 / 300

now I want a formula that can return in column C of book 1 to display 300.

And the data runs across some 100 rows in both workbooks.

## Return A Value Of Two Matching Cell Values From Another Sheet

Jan 7, 2010

I have two sheets - one work sheet and the second - database with existing entries. Going by visual example below, I need the column C of the work sheet to automatically populate with the data pulled from the database sheet. For example, C4 on the Work sheet should find both values "Bike" and "Green" in one row on Database sheet and return the corresponding value 44444 from F97. The work sheet cells in the row C should remain empty if no match found on the database sheet.

Sheet 1 (Work sheet)
-------A--------B---------C
1---Auto-----Red
2---Auto----Green
3---Bike-----Red
4---Bike----Green
5---Bike-----Blue

Sheet 2 (Database)
-------A--------B---------F
12---Auto---Red----11111
37---Auto--Green---22222
85---Bike----Red----33333
97---Bike---Green--44444
102--Bike---Blue----55555

## Lookup Matching Values & Return Replacement

Aug 11, 2008

Im trying to work out how to write some code to find and replace from a list.

I have key data in column P on sheet 1, and a list on sheet 2 with the same key data in column C.

Basicially, every month the data on sheet 1 changes (there are usually 100 rows of data each month) and what i want to do is, write some code to look down column P on sheet 1 and for every cell, find the corrosponding value on sheet 2 (column C). When it finds the value, copy and paste it onto sheet 3 then delete the row from sheet 2.

I hve written some code that can do the first part (copy and paste) and a second macro to do the deleting....but it is only for 1 value at a time...

## Nested Index / Match Array - Return Value In Column C When Matching Column A And B But With Few More Criteria

Jun 7, 2014

I am trying to use a nested INDEX and MATCH array formula to return the value in column C when matching column A and column B, but with a few more criteria.

The range containing all the data

A
B
C

1
Cat 1
January 1, 2014
John

[Code] ..........

I am looking for the array formula to return the name of the person in column C who is in Cat 1 after the date in column B.

For example;
C7 should return "John" because B7 requests "January 15, 2014", which is after the value in B1
C8 should return "John" because B8 requests "February 15, 2014", which is after the value in B1
C9 should return "Andrew" because B9 requests "August 15, 2014", which is after the value in B4

The best try I had for the formula in C7 was

{(INDEX(\$A\$1:\$C\$4,MATCH(1,(\$B\$1:\$B\$4>=B7)*(A\$1:\$A\$4=A7),0),3))}

This brings back "John" as desired in C7, but when copying down the table into C8 and C9 both C8 and C9 return Andrew.

I guess this is due to my ">=" condition in the Match formula and it is returning "Andrew" because "Andrew" is also after the date requested, but I cannot for the life of me work out how to get it to work.

## Return Top 10 Values In An Array

Aug 19, 2009

I have a spreadsheet of information (product codes and values) and want to use VBA to find the top ten list of products by value. The list of products is variable in length so I can pass the data to a two-dimensioned array.

How do I ask VBA to return the top ten products by value - there can be duplicate values so I just want ten (if there are 4 #9s, I just want two of them, any two)?

## Formula To Find Matching Values In One Column And Return Totals For All Rows That Match

Dec 26, 2013

table1.jpg

I am looking for a formula that will satisfy the following:

1) find all the values in column "A" that match
2) In column "G", sum up all the values in "F" that go with the matching values in column "A"
3) For example, in rows 14-16, the values in column "A" match. Cell G16 sums up F14:F16

## Return Multiple Values From Array

Dec 27, 2013

I am remodeling my home and have put together a budget template. I have uploaded the file to make things easy to understand. Basically I want to return the values from column F and G on sheet "ledger" to the corresponding account name to column H in sheet "budget". For example, rows 14, 21, and 22 in the "budget" sheet currently correspond to the "fuel" account. I would like those values in column G (or F) to be added and calculated in cell H58 in the "budget" sheet.

## Array To Return Values In Each Cell Of First Row

Oct 17, 2011

I seem to be incapable of creating an array to return all of the values in each of the cells in the first row so that I can populate a combo box. I managed to do it without a problem for copying the sheet names within a workbook but not for this and I want to bang my head against the wall!

Basically, I have the first row of my spreadsheet for which I don't know how many columns contain data so my range is variable.

I then need to take the value of each cell and add it to my combo box (Later I would also like to use this routine to create and append sheets in other workbooks).

## Array Lookup, Return/Sum Multiple Values

Jan 18, 2010

In the attached sheet, I want to look up values from table (A1:G5) and then for each occurrence of a particular number, return the value in the same row in column H, and sum when there are multiple values (see green shaded area for desired output. For example, the number 8 occurs in E3, E4, and G5. I want to return the sum of the corresponding values in column H (1,5, and 2). I've spent hours trying to work this one out, I'm sure this is probably an array formula, but I can't manage to make it work.

## Array Return Multiple Values In One Cell

May 5, 2014

I am trying to return an array of values into 1 cell.

Basically, I have a gigantic list of item names, item numbers, and reuse codes.

I want to populate all the reuse codes by item number in a second sheet:

something like this:

Source sheet
Item item num Reuse code
Widget1 w001 298767
Widget2 w002 4894957
widget3 w003 28276
Widget1 w001 12345
Widget1 w001 678910

What I want this code/formula to do is consolidate the reuse codes based on the item number.

Aggregate Sheet
Item item num Reuse code
Widget1 w001 298767;12345;678910
Widget2 w002 4894957
widget3 w003 28276

I have this formula but it only gets the 1st Reuse code, I want it to get ALL reuse codes for that item.

{=INDEX('Reuse list '!\$P\$2:\$P\$24489,SMALL(IF('Reuse list '!\$E\$2:\$E\$24489='Status Sheet'!A11,ROW('Reuse list '!\$E\$2:\$E\$24489)-ROW('Reuse list '!\$E\$2)+1),1))}

## How To Return Multiple Values From Array In Single Cell

Jul 2, 2014

I am building a marketing dashboard that shows the effectiveness of two campaigns based on where the campaign has been deployed (website, email, facebook, twitter, google+ etc.). In each campaign I have a checklist (using developer ribbon) with these different dimensions.

I want a formula that checks the checklist, identifies all the boxes that are unticked and returns them in a single cell. The cell would read:

To increase traffic to the Shampoo campaign (Campaign A), expose it to Google+ and Facebook as these channels generated 578 and 2009 visitors respectively for the Makeup campaign (Campaign B).

I already have it working for returning a single value with the following formula but need it to return multiple values.

=IFERROR("To increase traffic to the "&B4&" campaign, expose it to "&INDEX(L4:L10,MATCH(K5,M4:M10,FALSE))&" "&"as"&" "&"this channel generated "&VLOOKUP(INDEX(L4:L10,MATCH(K5,M4:M10,FALSE)),L26:N31,2,FALSE)&" visitors for the "&D4&" campaign","")

## Lookup Single Value In One Array, And Return Multiple Values

May 30, 2006

I know something very similar was posted before, but unfortunately, it wasn't what I was looking for. I have a Worksheet tracking several associates and the department they have done work in. (Our associates are contractors for other departments). I need to have a final worksheet that allows me to pull up a name, and display every dept they worked with in the past week.

## Array Formula To Return Multiple Values Based On Various Criteria?

Dec 19, 2013

I can manage an array formula that returns a value based on a criteria. Simple. But I want to add in an additional couple of criteria. Now I'm stuck....

My sheet looks at a manually entered postcode, finds out what region this is in, and returns a list of postcode I have defined as being in that region. (So the postcode WF1 3JY would return a region of Yorkshire, and list postcodes of WF, BD, L, etc)

I also have a list of engineers, with a column for their home postcode.I want to be able to list all the engineers from my list whose home postcode matches any of the values on the already created list from the postcode and region entered. So far I have this, which finds me all the engineers for just one postcode area.

## Find Row Of Large Value In Array And Return Values In Different Named Range

Feb 28, 2012

I have four named ranges (Segment, Keyword, Impressions and Dropdown) and I would like to create a formula-based ranking of keywords by impressions and clicks. Using the following array formula, I am able to return the correct values for impressions or clicks:

{=LARGE(IF(Segment=DropDown,Impressions),\$H7)} where \$H7 is the number ranking 1, 2, 3 etc.

My question is what array formula could be used to find which row in the array returned that number and then pulls the data from the same row in the other named ranges?

Essentially find row of {=LARGE(IF(Segment=DropDown,Impressions),\$H7)} but return Keyword and Clicks on that row.

Other Notes: I cannot use pivot tables and some values might be the same which would make Vlookups not accurate for duplicate values.

Link to an example document to clarify this. [URL] .......

## Search Substring Of Array Matching List Of String From Another Array?

I need to export this to Xcelsius which doesn't support any macros/vba. Btw I can;'t use Row() in xcelsius too.

## Align Matching Row Values Column And Remove Non-matching Row Values?

Jan 27, 2014

see attachment below for easier comprehension of what I need to be done. Note that I have around 20 subjects (2 in example) and about 15000 values per subject (5 per subject shown) Basically, I want matching rows to be aligned (see grey) and non-matching rows to be deleted, throughout the 20 or so subjects.

## Countif For More Than One Condition

Sep 18, 2009

I have a table with 2 columns - Gender & Age. Now, suppose I want to know the number of Males in the table with age greater than 14, how do I do that? Can a Countif formula be used for more than one condition or is there some other formula?

## Countif For Non Matching Cells

Aug 13, 2006

How do I write a nested COUNTIF formula ( assigning a value of 1 for each cell) for a range of cells that does NOT contain "", "OFF", or "REQ OFF" ?

For example:

A row of 20 cells (A1:A20), 5 are blank (""), 3 contain the text "OFF", 4 contain the text "REQ OFF", and the rest contain anything other than the three values just mentioned.

I need a sum number for all the cells in that row that contain any other value. In this example, the output value should be 8. Out of 20 cells in the row, a total of 12 cells had either "", OFF, REQ OFF, and the remaining 8 had some other value that did not equal those.

Some sort of COUNTIF(AND(... Can't seem to figure this one out.

## Excel 2010 :: CountIf For Given Month And Given Condition

Mar 20, 2014

MS Excel Version : 2010
Attached File name : countif for a given month.xlsx

I want to a sum the given condition xxx / yyy according to the month in yellow cells.

## Adding Another Condition To Sumproduct (countif) Statement

Oct 6, 2011

I am using the formula below to count the occurences of relevant text strings (names) in a cell that can contain many separate strings. It works great. "References!\$F\$2:\$F\$34" contains my list of names and the formula returns how many occurences there are in each cell.

What i'd like to do know is work in a date criteria. Each name has an associated relevant date attached to it as does each cell that I am looking for these names in.

So...in english what Id like to do is alter my formula so that when it finds a text string that exists in "References!\$F\$2:\$F\$34", it then compares the associated date in "References!\$G\$2:\$G\$34" with the date associated with N3 which happens to be O3.

SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIF(N3,"*"&References!\$F\$2:\$F\$34&"*"))

## Upgrading Countif Formula With An Additional Condition

Feb 7, 2007

How do create a formula that will only execute this formula:

=COUNTIF(\$F\$7:\$F\$106,"0")
for the rows in the range g7:g106 that are equal to 12 or 13 or 14 or 15

example

f7=0
f8=1
f9=0
f10=0
g7=12
g8=12
g9=17
g10=14

result = 2, because f7 and f10 are the only matches
