I have to run reports every week where I show the number of days items are pending some sort of action. I use an autofill action in a macro but the number of rows changes every week. Here is the current section of my macro that I use. I just input a row number that I know will not exceed the number of rows required by my data (12900). What can I replace this with (Selection.AutoFill Destination:=Range("J2:J12900") so it will only fill the number of rows current filled in in either row I or K?
I'm trying to use relative references and am have having trouble with selecting a range for the fill down command.
I'd like to copy a formula down in the last column from row 1 to the last row with data. Column D is static so I can always use it to find the last row. The last column will vary; sometimes it might be G another time it might be X. I'm able to get the formula entered into the proper cell but I can't figure out how to select the range for a fill down.
If I was not using relative references and cell X1 always had the formula then Id code it like this:
'*** Find last row with data Range("D1").Select LastRow = Range("D65536").End(xlUp).Row '*** Calculate length of cell in previous column
It's the last range statement that stops me. I haven't come up with a variation that allows me to select a range from the cell on the first row of the last column and select the last row with data for the same column.
Have 2 listboxes, the contents of the second (fmmultiselectmulti) is populated based on selection of first. Sometimes (50%) when I open the workbook I receive a "Object Required" runtime error..
Private Sub ListBox1_click() Select Case ListBox1.Value Case "All" ListBox2.ListFillRange = "_Sheet2!A1:A1" Case "A" ListBox2.ListFillRange = "_Sheet2!B1:B18" <--- example of line that gives the 424 - Oject Required Case "B" ListBox2.ListFillRange = "_Sheet2!C1:C18" End Select End Sub
Looks as though sometimes when it runs, listbox2 is not yet initialized ?? If I go into Debug and look at ListBox2 it shows up as type "Variant/Empty" and not " ListBox/ListBox" ??!!?? Is this some type of timing/race condition on the loading of controls ? I'm out of idea's. Both listboxes are on the same worksheet (Sheet1). The ListFillRange for Listbox1 (which is a fmmultiselectsingle) is hardcoded and also references a range in _Sheet2 - no problems with this control.
How can I turn those static cells into volatile cells (I think that's what you call it)?
I basically want to select from the active cell (C9) to the beginning of the column (but leave out of the selection the header row) and then the adjacent cells to the right (D5:D9), but not with fixed cell references.
I have 5 cities and each city has a set of data in separate tabs. Right now i have data pulled for all 5 cities in a single sheet but its too cramped up..
I want to use a drop down list (data validation) and if any of the 5 cities are selected in the drop down, the data from that particular city (tab) should be pulled up. This way my sheet size will be reduced 5 time which will look good.
A common v lookup wont work because the data has to be pulled from 5 different tabs for 5 different cities.
I've made a drop down list and when I select multiple cells and choose from the drop down list, it only fills one. Here's pictures:
So in that first picture, I've selected multiple cells. But when I drop down the menu and click my selection, this happens:
Why is it that all the cells I've selected does not fill with the option that I chose from the drop down. I highly doubt that I have to manually click all the ones I want to fill with what I choose from the drop down list.
Amongst the several sheets contained in my workbook, there is one called 'Inspection Report'. Users fill in whatever data is required in the other sheets, and once they get to this one, they are supposed to enter a number from 1 to 3 into Cell X1 (which is currently selected) before they select anything else. Unfortunately, I am currently unable to stop them from doing what they should not be doing.
So, I would like to have a notification of some sort pop up into their face if they click or move the selection anywhere else while Cell X1 is still empty. Something like a validation would be nice.
I want to dynamically list items in combobox placed in excel sheet. I have a list of 10 values in a column in excel sheet. I have placed two comboboxes in the same sheet. Now depending on the first combobox selected value i want to list either all or only few values from the available 10 values.
I dont know if this can be done, but is it possible to automatically fill a column with check boxes which correspond to data in adjacent cells? I am aware of the marlett method, but Im really looking for some sort of rigid check box appearance, where the user just needs to click, and not type a, or y, etc. I have a macro which outputs a column of numbers in column A, and I would like to figure out if it is possible for a macro to automatically add check boxes in column B for all the values which show up in column A.
This is so that when the user selects some check boxes, the corresponding values in column A are then each copied to copies of a specific sheet, thus creating a multiple copies of the same worksheet for each value. This sounds like it could make a huge memory problem (from what I've read), but Im really dealing with a very small amount of data.
There is a small command button in cell A11 that brings up the userform. I have a multi-tab user form the userform contains a number of combo boxes with an associated textbox right of each. I would like to populate the textbox based on the value selected in the combo box. For example when Ice Foot is selected (Type of Fast Ice) populate the textbox (txtFastIceEncoded) with the value of 6. These values are located on 'decode' sheet. I then want to take the four values and place them in the textbox 'txt_Tw_Tw_Et_DE_ai_group'. Ultimately I want the values to end up back in the worksheet 'Synoptic Ice Obs'. Perhaps there is a better way to do this than I am trying. I have poured through countless threads in this forum and have tried a number of these. I however always seems to run into some problem that I do not understand fully. I have included a copy of the workbook.
auto fill the rows after selecting a particular option from a drop down list. For Ex., In Drop down list we have Cool drinks and Ice cream as two options. If i select Cool drinks the respective columns should be filled with brands like, Coke, 7 Up etc...
I've created seven names in my data validation source list on Sheet 3 in the following range of cells, A2-A7. My data drop down validation list is located on Sheet 1, A2 in the same workbook. I would like to trigger a macro based on the name I select in this drop validation drop down list that will fill out an address, telephone number, and email address in the following cells next to my data validation drop down list on Sheet 1: B2, B3, and B4. I want it to be designed so that users will select a name and have that person's corresponding address, telephone number, and email address fill right next to their name on the same sheet.
To initialize some cells/ranges, I am copying a given range and pasting it to another given range using the. Copy and .PaseSpecial methods. However, it would seem that both methods actually select the range(s) for the operations, i.e. the given ranges(s) are activated/selected thus changing the focus on the spreadsheet. I would like to perform both operations without actually selecting the given ranges.
I am receiving a 'subscript out of range' error on the lines of code below.
I would note that all variables are declared and all seem meaningful as regards what you would expect at that point.
Below is a snippet from the immediate window which indicates what the values are: completecashname C:CashDevelopmentMyFolderoutputCASH042706.xls cashsheetname Formatted Sheet cashcurrcolumn A cashfirstrow 2 cashlastrow 876
Also the workbooks are both closed at this point (but it makes no difference)
Set CashCopy = Workbooks(CompleteCashName).Sheets(CashSheetName). _ Range(CashCurrColumn & Cashfirstrow & ":K" & Cashlastrow).Value Set PelPaste = Workbooks(completepelname).Sheets(PELSheetName). _ Range((PELCurrColumn & PELlastrow)).Value
After this I would like VBA to copy all the variables in a range that is bounded by startcell and endcell. Here is what my code is currently for selecting the range:
Range("A2:" & endcell).Select
Instead of A2, I would like to select startcell, but I cannot figure out how. Currently I can get VBA to recognise endcell. For example, using the formula above I can copy the range from A2 to endcell. However, when I try and use startcell as the beginning of the range (in place of A2) the code does not work.
I have two tables in two different worksheets. In the first table, rows get deleted if the value in column 'S' (the first row to the right of the table) is not '1', and columns get deleted if the value in row '2' (third row above the table) is not '1'. In the second table, the number of columns stays always the same but rows get deleted if the value in column 'N' (first column to the right of the table) is not '1'.
After the rows and columns are deleted the tables get pasted in a ppt presentation. Now the problem: I am a beginner in VBA and up til now I am only able to define a certain Range, e.g. ("A5:M17"), to be copied and pasted into ppt. But since the tables will sometimes be bigger than other times depending if rows/columns are deleted, I would rather define a dynamic Range. The top left cell of both tabels to be copied is always 'A5' but the bottom right cell changes.
I have a spreadsheet with Employee details and each employee has a Indicator and a Score. I'm battling to get Excel to do a lookup on the Indicator, find the applicable Score Range, see if the individual's Score falls within the range and then inserts the relevant % into a cell in a specific row of each employee.
If we did not have more than 2000 doing it manualy might have been an option. Also, the Percentages and Score Ranges in the matrix might change a couple of times....
I am having a few problems selecting a range. What I am trying to do is select a range where the number of columns stay the same, but the rows are variable; ranging from one row upwards. At the end of the rows, there is a blank row. I currently have;
I am trying to select a range of cells. The range I need to select starts in Cell A1. I need to select every row with data in column 1 up to the first row with no data. I then need to expand the range to all columns up the last column with data, including columns with blank cells.
The problem with my code relates to the selection of columns. It is only selecting up to column F. Column G is empty, Column H has data, Columns I-J are empty, Columns K-R have data.
