VLOOKUP Function In Macro Code

Is it possible to Call the inbuilt Excel Functions (like VLOOKUP) in Macros. we have to pouplate cells with formula which uses VLOOKUP. one way was to update each cell with required Formula like: [code] Range("A1").value = " = 6*F7*(1-Vlookup(lookupvalue........))"[code] but this was stupid as no of cell to be populated was large and variable and moreover it will return formulae to cells rather than fixed value. What we tried was to defile an table_array as Array(x y) and then use this array to return required VLOOKUP value. However I was thinking is there any way to call function like VLOOKUP in Macros so that we can return a value to cell rather than formula.

The code instead of Vlookup that I'm using at the moment. It takes too long if you have 40,000 to 50,000 rows of data.
The data that I have is something like the sample bebow:
Col A from A1 to A15 with numbers like:

I am trying to use the Vlookup function in a macro but I can't figure out how to write it. I am using a controlled loop to cycle through my data. So for the first entry, my lookup data is in cell A2. The lookup table is located in a sheet called 'Trade Table' and the lookup field is in Column B and value needed is in column C. The results go in column G. The excel formula is as follows:

I wanna have a Vlookup Macro function in my spreadsheet. I perform a vlookup in the spreadsheet by using vlookup formula and I found out that it is waste of time to retrieve records from other file when I have a total of 55000 records in one spreadsheet. I plan to use macro functions to retrieve records instead of using vlookup formula. So is there any chance that I can create the macro based on my scenario? {i already attached my spreadsheet here, it is a dump data}
In the sample1.xls, I want to retrieve the records from the sample2.xls by using Material as the key field. When I run the Vlookup Macro, the system is able to help me lookup the value such as (Net Sales: January until Net Sales: March) and display the records in the sample1.xls based on the Material Key Field. So hope that my problems can be solve here.

convert this formula to VBA.
The are four formulas in there:
1. lookup formula.
2. remove the 1st number (exmaple: remove 0 in 0123 to become 123)
3. add a number (example: add 0 to 123 to become 0123)
4. convert a number into text format.

I used VLookup function in macro. Lookup value is a variable name. I don't know how to use variable name inside of VLOOKUP function.

If I put this in a cell it works fine =VLOOKUP(B3,DateRange,2,0) If I tell VBA to write that formula, it works fine.
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=VLOOKUP(RC[-44],DateRange,2,0)"
If I put this in VBA: Range("AK1").Value = Application.VLookup(Range("B3").Value, Range("DateRange"), 2, False)
I get #N/A. I'm stumped - any ideas why this would happen, or how I can work this into my code? I need the vlookup to occur 1000s of times, and don't want to have to put the formula in the spreadsheet because I just want the results, not the formula.

I have 2 sheets, sheet2 have data consist of 5 columns I want to vlook up by vba code so the data from sheet2 with reference here is (ID) search in sheet1 and update the data from sheet 2 to sheet 1 like below. i have found a similar code but it updates only one column that is B cloumn i want to update C, D, E columns and rows by the below code. see the below code.

I'm trying to look up a value in Analytics Data searchin for the date in B9 to B & rader.
I get error messages, because i can't find the dates. But I'm sure I have defined the ranges correct. The code works in another workbook with the difference that the table with the variables I'm trying to lookup are in the same sheet as the where I want to place them.

I have to run a report each morning and in once cell I need to pull in the contents of another cell from another worksheet. I'd rather not have to open the additional file each morning to copy and paste special the values so I'd like to add to my current macro to pull this data in automatically. I have to do this for two different reports/portfolios and the data I am pulling in for each portfolio is located in the same exel file but under two different tab names, the portfolio names 2010 and 2045.
Deliverables
The spreadsheet I am pulling data in from is located here:
K:Risk OversightMarket RiskTracking ErrorBARRA
and the file name is: Daily Barra Tracking Error.xls
Tab name would be 2010 for the 2010 portfolio or 2045 for the 2045 portfolio The vlookup will be from "A32:B2500" and I would like to incorpoprate an IFERROR function that returns "" in the event of an error. Column "A" are dates and column "B" is the data I need to pull in.
Receivables I am pulling the data into cell "J23" of a summary report (sheet 2) and would like the vlookup to read something like this:
IFERROR(VLOOKUP("K1"Active.Workbook.Sheets2,[K:Risk OversightMarket RiskTracking ErrorBARRA"&"Daily Barra Tracking Error.xls"(Sheets)]."2010""A32:B2500",2,0),"")
This should return a blank cell if the date cannot be found in the data spreadsheet and return the correct data for teh correct date being referenced in my summary sheet.
how to do the bracketed parts for pulling in the right spreadsheet and tab.

I have the following vlookup working exactly as I want it to in excel: =IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(LEFT(C2,10)& "*", NAME,2,FALSE)),"",(VLOOKUP(LEFT(C2,10)& "*",NAME,2,FALSE))) -NAME is a defined section on another worksheet
The problem I have is when I come to use this within a vba macro I'm writing the wildcard section automatically gets spaces added so it goes from "*" to " * " and excel doesn't like it! The code I'm using to write it into the cell is simply:

I am trying to use VB to vlookup between to workbooks
1. Make active workbook WBK1
2. Make workbook being open WBK2
3. Copy and Paste between WBK1 and WBK2
4. Have a vlookup in WBK1 and bring in the values from WBK2
5. Close WKB2
6. Copy, Paste, and transpose values in wkb1 within wkb1
The script works fine until it reaches the vlookup step. I have used the vlookup by itself without the copy and paste code successfully but when I combine the two it provides me with the error 9. Subscript out of range.

I'm trying to use an offset from a Named Range as my source cell in a vlookup but get a -1004 Object not defined error. When Debugged the Range.Formula appears to be blank when queried. Using Record a Macro the Reference to a named range worked fine but I could not test for an offset or the use of the range reference. What can I do to use to make this work

I am trying to write a function in excel to use the worksheet function "small" In the vba immediate window it doesn't return anything and in the spreadshhet I get a # NAME? error when called in a cell the code is below.

Need to take column J20:J255 and column K20:K255 and concatenate into activesheet K20:K255. This needs to happen when OptionButton1.Value=True. The information in each cell will be different. The following code works well, but it will not allow me to put a space in between the two strings.

We have had a macro running for a few years (Excel 2007 now, but started in 2003) that imports about 35 text files into separate sheets, creates a calculated SUM field for each sheet and copies that value to a title (or summary) sheet. We use this 2 to 4 times per year at inventory time, copying to a new file and deleting the old data before running the macro. The imported files initially create new workbooks, but the data is copied to the initial workbook into a distinct sheets for each file.
Recently (well, last August) this macro started hanging after importing (Workbooks.OpenText) a number of files, and not necessarily the same file every time (on repeated runs.) While trying to figure out the problem, I have now managed to get it to hang every time on the first file! However, if I am stepping through in the debugger it continues past the OpenText command and on F5:Run/Continue will then continue processing the rest of the files normally. If I delete the first file before running the macro, it then hangs on the second file instead.
Without debugging, the first file will import, display on-screen, and there it stops. If I put a break-point on the very next instruction after the import, that break-point is never reached. THINGS I'VE TRIED:.......

I am having to copy and paste rows of data into a new worksheet where the rows sizes change and I am wanting to add a new row at the end of the pasted rows but with the sumation formula to add the relevant column
e.g copy range B14:AA17 with in this case columns E to AA holding the numerical values. Therefore I wish in cell E18 to sum the value of E14:E17 and so on ending with cell AA18 holding the sum of AA14:AA17
As these vary I have all relevant variables, Range to add sumation values to eg E18:AA18
Start Cell E14 and so on.
I tried adding "=SUM(x:d)" where x and d are vars relating the the column cell required eg x = E14 and d = E17

let me start by saying that I know an example workbook would be useful here, but the part I'm struggling with is the [managementroster.xlsm] file, and there is A. no way I can release it to the internets and B. its so huge/complicated I couldn't even begin to reproduce a portion of it, scrubbed of data, and hope to maintain its functionality in a meaningful manner.

This formula checks a staff number on this spreadsheet, and then goes and looks at the staff number on the roster. Once found, it returns that staff members roster, but changes any manager codes in the MRC list to Mgr, and changes all other roster codes to Free.
I now need this formula, before altering roster codes to Mgr or Free, to only return codes that are a match for another table (or after really. I don't particularly care, so long as only codes are shown that match data from another table). I think an index/match function would do the trick, but this forumula is already at the edge of my excel ability, nesting another function within it is completey beyond me. The relevant cells for the index/match function would be:
This first Match function targets the column. $E3 is the date required, $BA$1:$DN$1 is the range the dates are entered in
Match: Lookup value = $E3
Lookup array = '[ManagementRoster.xlsm]Vacancies!'$BA$1:$DN$1
match type = 0
This second Match function targets the row. $A$4 is the department name, $B$434:$B$452 is the range where all departments are entered
Match: Lookup value = $A$4
Lookup Array = '[ManagementRoster.xlsm]Vacancies!'$B$434:$B$452
match type = 0
Index: array = $BA$434:$DN$452
So I think my final function is

But I have absolutely NO idea where it would fit within my first formula, or how to code it so that my original formula only reproduces results that are found in both sheets, or anything.

I am trying to use the vlookup function together with an offset function but i am not getting it to work properly.
The situation is as follows:
I have a column E in which i use the vlookup function to find its corresponding value in B which in turn refers to a named range. However, the figure i want the function to return is 2 columns to the right and 2 rows above the value which the vlookup funtion finds in the first column.
I have though of using the offset function, but i cannot figure out how to make this work.

This Formula doesnt seem to work, it shows me either every row with found or not found..
If there is a match to E24 in other sheet and has a value in column 10 it should say found otherwise not found.

I'm taking 3 very different reports and consolidating them into one manageable readable form. Only problem is that no 1 report has the same info. I've created a key to form pick up the same information that is read differently. As my spreadsheet grows so do the formula issues. I've had one report that has been the biggest pain to break apart. It takes several things and consolidates them, ex: big 2014 girl - dog 20145
I'm using a trim formula to read the last 5 digits that is the only consistent part of the string. =right(J3,5) to trim what i need to read (20145). this formula works. I'm than trying to preform a Vlookup based on what is returned from the trim. The trim number is located in a separate tab as the "key" 20145 = golden Labradors. formula for vlookup that works by itself, but throws up a blank cell when i point it to the trim cell.
=iferror(vlookup($A2,Info!A:ZZ,2,False)" ")
$A2 = the info 20145 from the trim
Info! = is the tab with my 20145 = golden Labradors
A:ZZ = the range in which i need it to find 20145
2 = the second column where it should find 20145 = golden Labradors
False = exact match.
Why my formulas work separately but not when used together? The Vlookup will work if I type in the number 20145. I don't want to type 20145 anymore. I want to use the trim and have the vlookup notice the number pulled from the trim.

I am having issues using the INDIRECT function to lookup data from a sheet with the same name as that appearing in a given cell. For example, in cell D27 i have the text "S1_358_810" (Not including quotations). I also have a sheet named "S1_358_810". My formula is as follows;

However this is returning #N/A. There is a list of numbers in sheet S1_358_810 in column N and from that I want the value in column Q (thus 17).

I have a vlookup function that is looking up a range of cells. I would like it to look in the range and then sum up all of the values that meet the criteria. At the moment it will only bring back the value of the first match it finds in the range, I would like it to bring back the sum of all the values it finds in the range, is this possible? Example:
Vlookup(Jan-08,$a3:$c$7,column 4 values, 0), if Jan-08 is listed in the range more than once, I would like it to add up all the values in column 4 that match.

Function sequence giving me "N/A": =VLOOKUP(LEFT(C6,5),H:I,2,FALSE)
Basically, I have numbers that each start with a unique sequence. The first 5 numbers of that sequence represent a certain cell carrier.
What I want to do is have the function look up the first 5 characters of a cell and depending on the 5 characters, I want it to return a certain value.
My idea with the vlookup was to have the lookup value be the first 5 digits and then in my table, it would take only those 5 digits and return a value I have specified in the second column.

I tried with the VLookup, and HLookup and neither one worked for me. I have a reference table with all the data, and then input sheet where I want to bring this data by using one of the excel function. ie. When I enter office name on the top of the input page, I would like the Tax ID # in cell C3 to fill in using the excel function from the data on the reference tab. Same with cell C14 & C15. see attached for an example.
