Value Error When Trying To Copy Down Formula
Jul 27, 2012
I've been using this macro
Sub FillDownFormula()
Dim LR As Long
LR = Range("J" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
Range("A1").AutoFill Destination:=Range("A1:A" & LR)
End Sub
to copy down a formula down column A where the number of rows varies from file to file. The problem that I'm having is that when I run it the cells come up with the #VALUE! error. When I click on the cells the correct formula displays in the formula bar and if I double click on the cells and hit enter then it works. I thought that maybe the problem was that the formula in A1 has text (column header) and rest of A has numbers but that didn't seem to be the issue.

I am trying to run create a simple macro that copies and paste special values - something I have done 100's of times but for some reason I keep getting an error message - even though I recorded the macro and didnt write it by hand - see below:
Sub Macro6()
Cells.Select
selection.Copy
selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _
:=False, Transpose:=False
End Sub
For which I get 'Compile Error - Expected Function or Variable'

I'm trying to copy an ELOOKUP formula down a column in a sheet. The formula is losing part of the table array when I carry it down and returning an N/A error. Interestingly, it will work when I copy it across a row.

I am currently working on a data analysis project (data mining) and need to collect and later analyze statistics for the inputs which control a series of calculations. These statistics are shown in the Statistics 1, Statistics 2 and Statistics 3 cells in the workbook that I attached. The inputs are X,Y; all possible values for these inputs are listed in the N,O columns. Basically I need a macro which would take the values from these two columns and place them pair after pair into the controlling cells (K3, L3), then it would copy cells H2 through L3 (updated stats) to a new sheet after each copy operation - so that I will finally have a list of statistics for all of the input pairs.

I'm having some trouble trying to get excel to input a formula into a cell. I'm still a novice at VBA right now, so I don't think my problem will be too much of a brain buster.
I want a formula in Cell A6 (and I already know it correctly works) in this format: =E6&VLOOKUP(I6,'FA-Fund Data'!B$1:C$2000,2,FALSE)&J6

My VB code creates a number of sheets when processing and all works well until I have to create more then 65 sheets and then it stops running with an error 1004. The VB code creates each new work sheet via vb "copy" command.
I assume there is nothing magical about this 65 number - its just the point where excel runs out of memory, maybe?
I found a reference to this problem and a suggestion that I have the code periodically save the work sheet but this seems like a kludge?

ws5 and ws7 are defined and working due to other parts of the code already using them. ive copied the syntax from some of my other copy destination codes the only difference here is instead of ("A2:J10") ive got "(Cells(2,1):Cells(iRow, 10)" as the row number for this is variable, and it is calculating the correct value for iRow and iRow2. its probably something stupid im missing but i cant figure it.

I have a macro which allows a user to paste a list of equipment ID names into a range. The macro will then make a copy of a template worksheet for each equipment ID and add it to the workbook. I find that when I run this for more than 20 or so equipment IDs the macro will fail without an error. Even when I stop the macro I cannot manually copy worksheets. It seems to be a memory issue. If I save and close the sheet and re-open I can copy and paste manually again.
The particular section of code where the macro hangs is the third line of the for loop below.
Code:
For Each c In Selection.Cells
tName = c.Value
Sheets("Template").Select
Sheets("Template").Copy Before:=Sheets("Definition")
ActiveSheet.Name = tName
...more operations...
Next c
how to prevent this happening or more details on what is going on?

Here's my code. Sometimes it works. Other times I get a Run-time error 1004....

I have a form & in a command button that form I have code that is supposed to copy a worksheet named template into some position among the other sheets in the workbook. I am trying to set the new worksheet to some variable. The code actually creates the new worksheet where it's supposed to but I still get a run-time error 424. If I don't try to set the new worksheet to any variable the code exits fine.
Works but with Error - next to Last line
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim wSheet As Worksheet
Sheet_before_name = ""
For Each wSheet In Worksheets
If UCase(wSheet.Name) > UCase(sheet_add_txt) Or _
wSheet.Name = "Template" Then
If Sheet_before_name = "" Then Sheet_before_name = wSheet.Name
End If
Next
Dim new_sheet As Worksheet
Set new_sheet = Worksheets("template").Copy(before:=Worksheets(Sheet_before_name))
End Sub
Works Fine
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim wSheet As Worksheet
Sheet_before_name = ""
For Each wSheet In Worksheets
If UCase(wSheet.Name) > UCase(sheet_add_txt) Or _
wSheet.Name = "Template" Then
If Sheet_before_name = "" Then Sheet_before_name = wSheet.Name
End If
Next
Worksheets("template").Copy before:=Worksheets(Sheet_before_name)
End Sub
I have read through post after post on this forum about this error but nothing seems to apply. I can use Dave's suggestion in another post of just using the template sheet as an actual worksheet template, but Then I would have to modify other code that deals with formatting. I would have to get it to apply any formatting changes to this workbook & to the worksheet template.

I need the macro to look at cells B9:B84 on the Sheet1 tab of the Cost Template. If it finds an x I need it to copy the 3 cells to the right of the x and paste them in a template. For example if it sees an x in cell B9 it would copy cells C9, D9 and E9, open the Purchase Order to the Detail tab, then paste it to cells B3, C3 and D3. It would continue looking for an x down to B84. So if it found 5 cells with x, it would give me 5 instances of the Purchase Order with 3 cells pasted into each.
I've attached my Cost Template and the Purchase Order it needs to copy to. In the Cost Template is a macro called Create_PO. This is what I was trying to alter to make this happen. I can't seem to get it right! FYI in case it matters, I had to change the Cost Template from .xltm to .xlsm in order to upload it on this site.

I'm working in a rather large (20meg) Excel file with multiple worksheets, references, formatting, etc.
Suddenly, when I attempt to Copy > Paste Special > Formats using more than a few cells at a time, I receive this error message...
"Selection is too large."
That's it - no reference, no nothing. Doesn't matter if I select a few cells, or entire rows, I get the same message everytime. However, I can copy-n-paste the entire 8000+ rows of data into a NEW file with no problems whatsoever. It handles everything - data, formatting, formulas, etc. But within my working file (same worksheet even) I get the error everytime.
I'm not using a macro. This file has worked fine for months. I'm doing absolutely nothing differently than ever before. This error literally just started today.
I know there is some issue with copy/paste of 8100+ non-contiguos cells, but I'm using contiguos cells. And again, I can copy nearly 10K entire rows of data and paste into a new workbook - just not within the same workbook and worksheet.
I've searched online - here, Mr.Excel, Microsoft, everywhere I can think of. Of all the problems I've found answers too, I have yet to find ANYTHING dealing with this problem - except in the context of a macro, which I am not using.

This macro below is meant to search a sheet for a user selected value, select the entire row and copy it into a new sheet that has been created under the name of the user selected value. It will create said sheet, but isnt finding the value and/or copying the active cell row. Im not getting any errors so it has no issue with the coding itself, it just doesnt work, have i missed something obvious again?

I have been working on this macro all day and no matter how many different ways I write it I can't seem to get it to finish correctly without giving me an error message. The error messages are different depending on how I write the macro, so what the message says is not important.
I have attached a sample of my work which contains the macro, but I'll post the code below as well. There are two tabs in the workbook. One contains the data("download") and the other is the template("Blank") per say. I need the macro to create a new worksheet using the template for each line of the data ("download")until it gets to the "finalrow." It names the worksheets the value of D3 currently, but I'd like to figure out how to name the worksheets by C3. c3 contains the names of customers, and is duplicated for each product they have purchased. I'd just like to attach a number after the name if it is a duplicate. i.e. Adam, Adam1, Adam2, Adam3 for all "Adam"s.
Look into the code and see if that makes sense. if not, feel free to ask questions.

I'm trying to create a vba script that conditionally copies a row to another sheet in my workbook, then deletest that original row. In this demo version, the condition would be that a cell in column A is empty.
I've searched all over, and there seem to be so many different solutions for copying and pasting rows, but when I apply them to my script, I always get a "Type Mismatch" error at the point of copy/paste (Line17).
Code:
Sub CopyPasteDelete()
Dim LSearchRow As Integer
Dim LCopyToRow As Integer
'Start search in row 3
LSearchRow = 3
[Code] ......
Running Excel 2003 if that makes a difference

I have a macro that inserts a formula on the first row and then copies it down. The problem is the row count is variable but I know it won't exceed 5000 so I just copy it down 5000. For the blank rows I get the ugly #NAME, #VALUE, etc errors.
I know there are ways to supress those error messages, but how about a way so that the macro checks to see how many rows are populated so it doesn't copy down on the blank rows.
