I have a column say column B for example that has a list of dates in the format dd/mm/yyyy. I would like a summary at the top of the columns to state how many dates there are for the current month. But I wondered if this was possible based on the TODAY() function or similar. Thus the user would not have to change anything.
So for example at the start of the month it may state 14. Half way through the month down to 6 and at the end of the month 0 for example.
I need a formula that will calucalte the monthly total based on the following conditions:
Col A = Yearly Cost Col B = The number of the month when the costs are starting (1=Jan etc) Col C = The duration or the number of months for which the costs are to spread Col D is Year 2013 with the months across columns D-O. Row 1 above those columns shows the month's corresponding number.
Right now I have =IF($B3<=D$1,$A3/$C3,0) however if my start month is 1 and my duration is 5, I need the costs to stop after May. I've attached a sample file. Calculate based on start month and duration.xlsx
I have the AutoFilter Field:=4 piece of code but what if the column number changes?
How can i assigned AutoFilter field to be the actual column name. The column name is Current State and have declared it in the below code as string --> strSearch4 = "Current State"
Should i assign strSearch4 to AutoFilter Field? If so how?
Sub CommercialView() ' ' CommercialView Macro '
' Dim wrkbk, sourceBk As Workbook Set sourceBk = Application.ActiveWorkbook 'Clear Filter for all Columns START With ActiveSheet If .AutoFilterMode Then If .FilterMode Then .ShowAllData End If Else If .FilterMode Then .ShowAllData End If End If End With 'Clear Filter from all Columns END
'Copy the required columns and add them to the destination spreadsheet START Workbooks.Add Set wrkbk = Application.ActiveWorkbook sourceBk.Activate wrkbk.Activate sourceBk.Activate
I would like to calculate the week number of the month based on a date.
Now my days would only include working weeks (Monday - Friday).
Supposed the date is 12/31/2012:
M 31-Dec T 1-Jan W 2-Jan TH 3-Jan F 4-Jan
Since it only occupies 1 day of the workweek, then it will be considered as Week 1 of January. If the date is 1/28/2012:
M 28-Jan T 29-Jan W 30-Jan TH 31-Jan F 1-Feb
It will be considered as Week 5 of January since it occupies 4 days of the working week. If the date is 4/29/2013:
M 29-Apr T 30-Apr W 1-May TH 2-May F 3-May
It will be considered as Week 1 of May since it occupies only 2 days of the working week.
Basically if the date's month occupies 3 or more of the working days of the workweek then it will be considered as part of that month's working week. Is this possible with formulas? I tried to explain it the best I can.
I am trying to create a graph that is conditional on two different columns. The first column is a date column, the second column has various categories. I want to show how many times each category appears per month. This database is continually added to so I wanted the formula to reflect the entire column range.
For example, let say I have 5 categories (Grapes, Apples, Peach, Pear, Banana). Column A would show a date (in a M/D/Y format) and Column B would list the fruit type. I want to show how many Grapes were input in January, February, March, etc. and then move on to show how many apples in each month, and so on.
Column 1: Ship (1064, 1065, 1066 as the field contents) Column 12: Date (21-Feb-08 as format) Column 13: Weld Length (1000 as format) Column 15: Defect Length (1000 as format)
What I need doing is the following is in a single cell per month add up what the total weld length is as well as the defect length as I have Jan 08, Feb 08 etc on another sheet where these values will be returned.
There is a seperate sheet for each Ship so would like a formula that I could ammend 1064 to 1065 etc
I have a Excel-spreadsheet (sheet1) which has dates in column G. I am looking for autofiltering data by year or month based on date value in column G. In my userform I have two comboboxes, one has years from 2009-2014 and another one are months from Jan-Dec. How can I write a code that shows only rows which match either year or month value based on combobox selection?
I'm needing a formula that will determine the number of days that fall in a specific month based on a date range. For example, if I have a date range of 10/15/2009 to 01/13/2009, I need the formula to determine the number of days in each month within the range (October has 15 days in the date range; November has 30, December has 31, and January has 13.) I have a large spreadsheet that would be so much easier to manage with such a formula. Currently, my spreadsheet is setup as follows. I need the forumla automatically fill in the number of days under each month.
Stard Date End Date Oct-09 Nov-09 Jan-10 Feb-10 10/15/2009 01/13/2009
I'm trying to update a series of different sheets in a book based on what month I have filled in data for. For example, at September Month End, I will fill in data vertically. Now, I have different tabs that reference certain cells in that column. There row number never changes, but once a month I have to go through and increase their column letters by 1, and there are a lot of places to update. Can anyone lend me some ideas or a solution to how I should go about using formula/macro to update these cells.
I want to be able to show only the dates whose months are selected in the drop down in cell A1. I've been able to do this with a Macro that I must run every time I change A1; however, I was wondering if there was a way to have the macro done automatically. I've been trying the Worksheet_Change options with little command. In addition to all of the If/Thens, I've also tried the If/ElseIfs as well:
VB: Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) If Target.Address = "$A$2" Then
If Target = "January" Then ActiveSheet.Range("$A$2:$C$14").AutoFilter Field:=1, Criteria1:= _ xlFilterAllDatesInPeriodJanuary, Operator:=xlFilterDynamic
I am trying to add a dynamic date rang to the heading of a table. I can find the earliest and latest dates, and want to concatenate them in the heading...
January 1 2012 to January 31 2012
The day and year (and the other bits) are easy, but is there an easy way to convert 1 to January, without going through a vlookup.
I can select the top cell in column "F" after filtering by multiple columns using VBA and arrays, but now want to I want to use the top cell in column "F" to search for all other equipment that uses this item.
E.g. remove filter, and reapply autofilter to column "F" based on selected cell as per below VBA
Note: Row 1 contains command buttons and row 2 Headers.
I have forumlas that will look at this cell and take action of the month in a different cell is either 1 month greater (Frontmonth+1) or less (Frontmonth-1) than "Frontmonth". As we approach December I'm realizing that logic will breadown since the FrontMonth+1 would be 13, not 1 (January)
Is there a way to get excel to add 1 month to just the month number so that if Frontmonth = 12, Frontmonth+1 would return 1, not 13?
I would like to create a monthly inventory, based on workdays (Monday - Friday)Myrna Larson has a formula that I would like to use with the workday function, but I don't know how to combine them.
I'm trying to write a code that calculates 2nd column based on 3rd column's number or vice versa based on the condition set on the 1st column. Below, there are two procedures. "SimpleCalc" and "SimpleCalc2". I first wrote SimpleCalc2, but it isn't working, so I worked around the error by writing SimpleCalc, which selects a cell and moves around by offset. I personally find it hard to read and error prone as I develop more logic around it.
I'm trying to develop more function based on this code, so I need to make it neat and flexible. what I'm doing wrong in SimpleCalc2? Or do you have any suggestion to improve the code "SimpleCalc"? I'm using Excel 2003.
Sub SimpleCalc()
Dim SimpleMethodRng, SimpleMethod As String, i As Integer
I have the following sample data set and I'm trying to return the appropriate column header based on criteria (i.e. DDD) and a number value which will be somewhere within the range of the table. In example below, the value returned should be Header 2 because the value is greater than those in Header 1 column (range H9 to L26).
I am working in a spreadsheet that contains a bunch of data, it is not limited, and varies. It has some fiels such as: name, date of birth, address, and others. I am interested in creating a column with only the month digit of the date of birth for each row.
I have been working with some code, I am not quite sure how to continue. The following table would be a example that I have of the data, it has only to entry in the column of Date of Birth, but my data range will always vary. I want to get the month and past it in the next cell that is available in this case would be column c or 3... The worksheet name is REP.
VB:
Dim Cell As Range ' 1st cell with the posting date Set Cell = Range("A2")
It's working fine if the year is 2014 but not if the year is different.
Conditions:
If the date is today then only the month should display else blank. The year should be ignore.
For example:
08/01/2000: January 01/01/2000: blank cell 08/01/2014: January 01/01/2014: blank cell
The date is in column 'p' in dd mm yyyy format. In short if the date is current date that is for today '8' then only the month should be display in the output.
I'm trying to write a program for work. One sheet (whereiseverything.xls) will have a list of parts column E and where it is in the process column (k). Column E of this sheet will have multiple part numbers. (Sometimes duplicated.) I would like to figure out how to write a code to Auto filter (whereiseverything.xls) sheet and copy only one P/N from (whereiseverything.xls) column E onto another Workbook Worksheet (Commit status.xls) column. After that the sheet must copy all of the locations of that P/N from whereiseverything.xls column K into and under the P/N of the Commitstatus.xls.
It will continue to autofilter and copy from where is everything, the "one" p/n and all of its locations into another empty column of Commitstatus.xls until it no longer has part numbers to autofilter on whereiseverything. I am extremely green on VBA programming but here is my first attempt.
Windows("Where is everything commits .xls").Activate Windows("whereiseverything[1].xxx").Activate Columns("D:D").Select Selection.AutoFilter Windows("Where is everything commits .xls").Activate
Windows("whereiseverything[1].xxx").Activate Selection.AutoFilter Field:=1, Criteria1:="7516113-905" \<--this Is one p/n Columns("J:J").Select Selection.Copy....................................
I have a list in Excel with several hundred 8 digit ID numbers in column D. Column C contains the total number of hours the student employee worked. Column E needs to calculate using two different equations depending on if the ID number in column D is a manager's. If the ID number is an employee the total hours worked is divided by 8. IF the ID number represents a manager the total hours worked is divided by 4. I've attempted this by using an array for the manager ID list and also using VLookup without success.
In essence I need to loop through column D, check which type of ID number is present, and then enter the correct formula in column E.
I am building a contact database in excel. I am using a userform to search, by autofilter, through several thousand contacts by any one of 7 criteria(account name, postal code,, account number, etc.). The only criteria that I cannot get to work is the phone number.
The numbers are entered in a ten digit string and the cells are formatted as phone numbers. i.e: 8005551212 = (800) 555-1212. When I run the search by the 10 digit number, the autofilter hides all results.
I am trying to number col A from 1-??? with auto filter on. The only way I know how to do this would be to type 1 in the top col and drag it down, however when autofilter on, this doesnt work. Is there a way to do this, with or w/o VBA?
I have a name in cell A1 and a number of 20 in cell B1. Is there a function to copy the name in cell A1 the number in cell B1 (20 in this case) times into column C?
