Jan 13, 2014I have this formula which is counting the number of cells in a column that fall within each calender month.
However, if there is a formula at the bottom of column B and C that yield a "", the formula breaks.
In my workbook, B/C:133 have a formula =""
I will need the formula in column E to work if there is a formula that yields a "" in column B and C.

Sometimes there are all 30 /31 days but normally not .
I need to find the last ocurance of the last date used for each month and then use the cell number to calculate the column totals for that month.

Dec 11, 2012I am attempting to count a number of cells in one column so long as they fall within a certain date, which is located in another cell in the same column. I'm trying to account for a number of reports that happened within a certain week.
The formula I came up with was
=COUNTA(COUNTIFS(A_DATE,">="&B2,A_DATE,"<="&D2))
But this returns 1 more then it should no matter what. Even when all cells within A_DATE are empty. it returns 1.
I know the COUNTIFS portion works to count the cells between certain dates.
Is what i'm looking to do possible or am I suffering from Excel burnout and just can't see that logicaly it makes no sense?

Count Number Of Cells In Column That Contain Specific Value But Leave Blank If None?
Mar 6, 2014I have a spreadsheet that contains given answers to a multiple choice test. I want to count the number of times each possible answer has been chosen at the bottom of the column. I have tried to use COUNTIF and that works fine to give me the number times each answer has been chosen but there is just one annoying thing. If the given answer hasn't been chosed by anyone, a "0" is automatically entered into the cell. This tends to really clutter up the spreadsheet and I would prefer for the cell to be left blank if the answer hasn't been chosen by anyone.
The closest I can come up with is: {=IF(D1:D10="","",COUNTIF(D1:D10,"A"))} but unless the answer "A" is chosed in D1, the cell remains blank.
If "A" is chosed in D1, then the formula works and counts all the rest of the cells that have "A" as an answer.

Mar 31, 2014I have data arranged in a worksheet (see attachment) that has hours of work broken down by day. What I need is a formula that will find the number of times a record occurred in Column F that is greater than or equal to 12 hours each day. So for March 1st there would be 9 times. I can do that now with no problem using "=COUNTIF(F4:F14,">=12")" However, the real thing that I need is how many days of each month were there only 1 count (of 12 hours or more). So it needs to look at the range of data that goes from 3/1/13 to 3/31/13 and find the total number of days that had 1 count (of 12 hours or more) each day and return the number of days it found.

May 29, 2014I have a signup record that expected to grow up to row 400. On the top, there's a monthly tally for reports. Column B to count the number of boxes taken and Column C for the users picked up the boxes.
Users should be accounted as one appearence in a month, regardless re-appearance in the same month or different month.
I haven't found the generic formula to uniquely count the number of users regardless their frequency in a month.

Jan 29, 2013My problem is , I have a date range 21-Feb-2013 till 07-Mar-2013 (Col C2, Col D2 respectively) which is holiday list for a person.
I am trying to pull out the number of working days for that person in the month of Feb which should exclude weekends.
To get the total no. of working days for the month of Feb, I have used the below formula.
=NETWORKDAYS(DATE(YEAR(C2),MONTH(C2),1),EOMONTH(C2,0))
This gives me a value of 20 which is correct.
Now I need to find no. of days which fall under the month of FEB from the date range 21-Feb-2013 till 07-Mar-2013 (Col C2, Col D2) which are working days. so that I can subtract that from no. of working days for that month (FEB) to get the no. of working days which the person has actually worked.

Is there a formula that will count the number of days an item has been out with one of the companies per month, and find an average if more than 1 item has been sent per month. As you can see this also laps into a new year, which poses my next problem, ill probably just add more columns on to the end of the table for that though...
I will later apply different calculations to these cells but in short need to get a calculation for the number of days per month first.
(in short spreading the new value out accross the year then multiplying it by the days... i also need to apply a further daily volume cal to it).

May 23, 2008need a formula to calculate the total number of x's in one column (column B, C, E are training types= x) where the corresponding column date falls within a date range. It’s to total each type of training done for each month. I have 3 training type columns and a cell that calculates the total number of trainings for the each month:=COUNTIF(F2:F100,">="&DATE(2008,2,1))-COUNTIF(F3:F200,">="&DATE(2008,2,31)).
So now I just need it broken down by training type per month. How many x's in each column for February as an example.

Mar 2, 2012I have data in a column (G) consisting of zero and ones. I would like to count the number of clusters of the number 1 in the data. For example in the data below there are 8 ones. But instead, I need to calculate how many groups of 1s occur. So in the case below the group of 1s = 3.
In terms of what defines a group. Whenever there is a zero either before or after the occurance of a 1 constitues a group, i.e the groups are broken out by zeros.

when I run this it filters but tempmon is equaling 1 when I know it is set to 9

May 15, 2009I have a column say column B for example that has a list of dates in the format dd/mm/yyyy. I would like a summary at the top of the columns to state how many dates there are for the current month. But I wondered if this was possible based on the TODAY() function or similar. Thus the user would not have to change anything.
So for example at the start of the month it may state 14. Half way through the month down to 6 and at the end of the month 0 for example.

Aug 22, 2014I am trying to create a graph that is conditional on two different columns. The first column is a date column, the second column has various categories. I want to show how many times each category appears per month. This database is continually added to so I wanted the formula to reflect the entire column range.
For example, let say I have 5 categories (Grapes, Apples, Peach, Pear, Banana). Column A would show a date (in a M/D/Y format) and Column B would list the fruit type. I want to show how many Grapes were input in January, February, March, etc. and then move on to show how many apples in each month, and so on.
