I want to compare cells and use a range of values to calculate totals (i.e. count if cell A1=boy and cell A2 equals either "fat" or "skinny")? Also, I tried using wildcard character "*" in the SUMPRODUCT formula, which didn't work (i.e. if cell A1="boy*" would return at TRUE if the cell contained "boy", "boys", "boy and girl", etc.). Is there a way to include wild card characters in a SUMPRODUCT formula like the ones described above?

I need to calculate a subtotal like value on the last row of a filtered region.
e.g.
description year sum
name1 3 yrs ago 200
name1 2 yrs ago 230
name1 last year 250
name1 forecast 220
name1 forecast value 1400
name2 3 yrs ago 200
name2 2 yrs ago 230
name2 last year 250
name2 forecast 220
name2 forecast value 1400
How to put a value on the last row of filtered column. let's say that above list is very little in comparison with the real list. so, let's say that i look up for name36, witch begins on row (36*5) -> 5 is the values of the year column; after autofilter with "name1" the very left column with row index become blue and show rows from 1 to 5, than, next row is the last non-empty row.

I am trying to calculate a total of a supplier between 2 dates. The total must fall in between the entered dates but the dates can be any given date and not limited to the dates in the supplied list. See attached scaled down example?

I have a range object called tbl which consists of a number of rows and columns of numbers.
I have another range object called e that is the total row just beneath tbl. I want to sum up the total of each column within tbl and put the result in the appropriate cell within e.
I can do it using a for/next loop as shown below but there could be 10,000 rows and a hundred columns in my range which woulod probably take forever. I know there must be another simple way to do it but despite racking my brains and trying various things I can't get it. I'll be very grateful for any assistance.
My current solution is as follows. (e is selected).
'Calculate totals and display them
For g = 1 To tbl.Columns.Count ' the number of columns
h = 0 ' Holds the column total
For f = 1 To tbl.Rows.Count - 1 ' The number of rows
h = h + tbl.Rows([f]).Cells(g).Value 'add the cell value

In Worksheet 1, Cell B63 I would like to create a drop down menu, with two options for the user to select - 0.05 and 0.01. I would like each selection to then control the formula in the cells C63:L63, for example;
Where 0.05 selected it computes for cell C63:

then cell D63

I have .csv file from which the data is importing to master schedule. i have a column in .csv file which is spitted into multiple columns. and my need is i have to compare this each individual cell value with the range of header values in master schedule and if match found i have to place that cell in the row.

I have a spread sheet that is used to review calls placed by a call center.
Column A has the extensions of the phones, and Column E has the type of call (Outgoing or Incoming). Each line is a new phone call.
We have about 8 extensions, but the worksheet could have a couple thousand calls. So, Column A could have extension 1401 from rows 1-100 as extension 1401 made 100 calls. I'm looking for a formula or macro that will summarize how many outgoing and incoming calls extension 1401 had. Thoughts?
My initial thought was something like this:
=SUMPRODUCT(--(A2:A5000=H2),(E2:E5000))
In this formula, I would type in the extension of H2 and it would scan Column A and add up the values in Column E. The only problem is, that Column H doesn't contain a numerical value. It only has "Incoming" and "Outgoing" (minus the quotes), so this doesn't work.

Using VBA, I want to import data from a text file into a worksheet, but only import a row of text if the three-letter code matches one I have in a named range. The data looks similar to this:

I know how to open and import the data, it's just making the comparisons that I'm having trouble with at the moment .

I have a row data corresponding to the measuring of load cell per min and I need to average the values per hour. So I have a column B for the date (from 1-01-2013 to 31-01-2013, column C for the time (0:00:00 to 23:59:00), and D de values per min I want to average. I have to do the same for the rest of the month of 2013 (February, ...., December).
I would like to know if there is a way to create a formula to calculate the average of the first 60 values (to get the average of the first hour of 1-01-2013), and then copy it to get the average of the following 60 (average of the second hour in 1-01-2013) and so on.
If there is no way to do it, I would like to know if I can do it using functions like average, match, index, offset, what would be the best match of those functions.
I also tried it by doing the analysis in another tab and using the function "averageifs" with two criterias: one for the date (example 01-01-2013) and another one for the hour (example 0:00:00), but it didnt work, it show error: #value. I inserted an extra column in the data tab with just the hour (example 0:00:00) in front of the corresponding column with (example 0:01:00, 00:02:00, etc)
Equation I used for this:

I have a list of dates in Column A, prices in Column B in Excel. I would like to write a VBA code that compares Price #31 in the list to the previous 30 prices to see if the price has moved more than 8%. If the price has moved more than 8%, I would like the date(s) that it moved above the 8% level written in Column C. Then, I'd like the routine to move on to Price #32 and have it look at its previous 30 prices and do the same.

I have to calculate the totals for every individual for the past three months. I have to do this for 200 people, is there a formula i could use to do this? Eg. if a person made 50 sales in Jan, 40 sales in Feb and 100 sales in March i need a formula that calculates the grand total, which will be 190.

I am trying to figure out a formula that will allow me to compare the
contents of cells within a range and let me know if there is a value that is
not the same as the others. For example:
Columns a,b,c,d,e and f and say "Joe"- this result is acceptable
Columns a,b & c all say "joe" and d,e,&f all say "Mary"- this result is
unacceptable
I want a formula or function that will tell me this wihout me having to
visually scan the data to determine this.

So I have values in Column L3 to AH3 and I would like to use if condition to see which values are less than 10.
I also have other rows where this comparison needs to be done but for now I can't even get simple if condition to work.
this is what I am doing

I am not getting any error but for some reason only first cell condition is compared and not the other cells..

I have a time sheet that I can figure the daily OT and DT on, but how to calc the the Bi-Weekly totals.
I can only have 80 hours per week, the rest needs to be carried to the OT field, but I can only have 40 of OT per week and the rest needs to be carried to the DT.

I'll quote the example straight away.

A,R,S A,R,S,T and so on.
There is no fixed pattern for the values, but they are separated by commas only. All i need is to compare col A and col B and return me the value in Col C like this,
Col C (col C is to know the removed value from comparison)
F (for line 1)
Col D (to find the letters that are added from comparison)
T (for line 2)

In the attached excel file I have two macros that create hyperlinks:
1. BalloonToNumber - Creates hyperlinks from "Oval" shapes on sheet "Op60_1" to sheet1 (column D).
2. NumberToBalloon - Creates hyperlink scheme from sheet1 (column D) to sheet "Op60_1" "Oval" shapes.
In Q #1 my macro seems to skip some shapes on sheet "OP60_1" and I simply can not figure out why.
In Q #2 my macro creates hyperlinks to shapes that do not exist and hyperlinks to numbers that are not a "100%" match, IE: 182 and 82 would share the same hyperlink?
If you open the workbook and use the hyperlinks on sheet1 they will take you to sheet "Op60_1" and shape hyperlinks from sheet "Op60_1" take you to sheet1. On sheet "Op60_1" there are some red arrows indicating the shapes that get skipped when running the "BalloonToNumber" macro.
Shape color changes as the hyperlinks are selected from sheet1.....

I have two cells with values that are strings.
I would like to know of a macro that can compare each two cells(start from E2 and compare with E3)to see if the values are NOT equal.
If they are equal, do nothing and if they are NOT, highlight the value.
Example:
compare E2&E3, E4,E5,E6,E7,.... if for example E2&E3, E4,E5,E6,E7,.... each hat same string, do nothing, but if they were not the same highlight it with red.
This code checks two cells and highlights one cell when there is duplicate, I like the opposite one, but don't know what to change!

I'm curious if there's a way to use the Vlookup function to compare TWO values in TWO cells with two values in two OTHER cells (same row though) and return one value from another column. Something like
Vlookup(A2 & C2, Sheet2!A1:C400, 3, FALSE & FALSE)....? Does that make sense?
Say the values in A2 and C2 are in A24 and B24 respectively in Sheet2. Can it return C24 for me?

I have a question on the vba syntax. I have a column of data whose values decrease by 1 or so as I move down the cells. My data look like:

And here is a code that I have written:

What this code does it, it first looks at Column B and pulls the values from Column A to C until the value in B hits 1. Then it calculates the average of the pulled values, after which it deletes the values in column A to C. If values in column B are greater less than 100, it does not calculate the average and just deletes the columns, moving the cells up. However, I ran into this problem:

999.1 80
1000 110
1001 109
I still need to pull the values and calculate the average but since the value in B1 is less than 100, the code does not do so. So I tried to change the code colored red above to:

I am new to programming in excel but am looking to make a VBA that allows me to see if a value entered exists in a second spread sheet. If it does then write a comment next to it. If not then write a different comment.

I am looking for a way to have it set up that when i enter an item number in sheet in 1 it searches in sheet 2 to see if it is fragile, if it is then returns, in sheet 1 column F next to that specific item 'Fragile'. If it doesn't find it in the list returns 'non-fragile'.
