With reference to a range, how would you write code that says:
If cell value in the range C3:F500 is "", then highlight the cell
If cell value in the range C3:F500 is <>, then nothing
I would like to structure it so that it looks at the entire range at once, then highlights the cells according to their value.
I have .csv file from which the data is importing to master schedule. i have a column in .csv file which is spitted into multiple columns. and my need is i have to compare this each individual cell value with the range of header values in master schedule and if match found i have to place that cell in the row.
I am adding 2 attachments one is .csv and other is master schedule.

I want to build a database where the user can select a specific time period. I have a static file with the time periods and the related values. For instance I have in column A1:A15 the time periods from January 2011 to Dezember 2011, but I have some dates multiple times as there are more values attached to it. For instance I have in the first 4 rows January 2011...what I want is when someone puts in the value January 2011 in cell B1 and Dezember 2011 in cell B2 that the whole static file gets copied to another location (including the multiple dates) displaying the chosen time period. Similarly if someone puts in the value March 2011 to November 2011, I want only those values to be copied.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a range of names (say A1:A10) and another range (J1:J3) which contains text strings such as "og", "alle", "ins".
What I need to do is to check each of the names in A1:A10 to see if the cell contains any of the values in J1:J3 (an "exclusion list").
For example:
A1 contains the name John Smith, so I'd need to return a value of false as none of the text strings in J1:J3 is contained in that name. But A2 contains the name Elizabeth Allen, so I'd need to return a value of true as that name contains the text string "alle" which is in the range J1:J3.
I could do three different checks using the formula =SEARCH(J1,A1), =SEARCH(J2,A1),, =SEARCH(J3,A1) and then copy those three formulas down A1:AA10. If I only had three exclusions to check on my actual data that's what I'd do, but my real-life exclusion list contains over 50 different values, and it's a bit time consuming to create 50 different search formulas!
Is it possble to have a range of cells be named based on the value of a cell?
I have a list , that i would like broken down in to several ranges, based on the value of the cell in column C.
If the cell in colum C = Atlanta, then i want the range name to be ATLANTA,
if the cell in C = US Mid West, then i want the range name to be USWEST

i want a vba code to select the part of table which starting with the row where is the starting date-("h4" ).value- is found in range(a:a) ,and the end of the selected part of table can be difined according to the "I4" value.

Column A includes a name
Column B includes an age
Column C states a division (this is the column that contains the Vlookup function)
Column G is where I have to put a range of ages (for instance, x=<0,>3)
Column H is where the division name is.
The idea behind this exercise is to use the Vlookup function in column C to reference column G, and return a value in column H. Here a copy of my formula in column C: =VLOOKUP(B3,$G$3:$H$12,2,TRUE). For instance, if Mike (A) is 16 (B) then he would be in the Midget division (C). C is calculated by comparing column B to G, then returning a value in column H. For some odd reason, I can't get column G to reference an age range, such as 1-5 years old.
I am trying to put together a calculation sheet for court costs and I need a cell to return a value based on the amount entered in another cell. For example, if I input a value between 1 and 5 in cell A1, I would like "Cat" to appear in cell A2. However, if I input a value between 6 and 10 in cell A1, I would like "Dog" to appear in cell A2. Is this something that can be done without VB?
For the real spreadsheet, I would need the following outputs in cell A2 based on the respective ranges in cell A1:
Output to A2 = $405 if input to A1 is < $50,000.
Output to A2 = $905 if input to A1 is ≥ $50,000 and < $250,000
Output to A2 = $1,905 if input to A1 is ≥ $250,000
I've attached a workbook to explain my query further but essentially I have a data range, variable in size and I would like to split the range based on values in the range (delimiters if you like) into discreet ranges.

In my workbook sheet 11 has some ranges that need to have names based on cell values in sheet2 (for purposes of data validation lists).
Range S28:S46 will assume the name of sheet2A11 & sheet2A3.
(example name period_1unit_1)
Range U28:U46 will assume the name of sheet2A11 & sheet2A4.
Range W28:W46 will assume the name of sheet2A11 & sheet2A5
Right now I am calling the code when something is entered into A11.
I have tried if statement and select case, but I ran into complications with both.
I have posted both codes with the questions I have concerning those codes.
I have a range staring with cell "A5" and going to Column "K8+" that I need to copy. My issue is that the number of rows to copy will change. I have the number stored a variable "a" in my coding. how do I code this to work?

The code I have is:

I have 2 worksheets. The first sheet has data of which some needs to be copied to a second worksheet. The trigger is a value found in column E. If a match is found, then a copy statement needs to be built. The values in F, G & H are the values to be used in the copy statement. The content of cell H may be numbers or letters or both.

I have a range "RangeOne" and i want to check the range row by row.
In each row I want to check for value in second cell. If the value is 10 or more then the entire row in the range should be selected and then execute a macro. If the value is 0 to 10(but not 10 exactly) then the row in the range should be selected and then execute macro2.
I am trying to copy paste info from one sheet to another, however, I would like to select where the information is to be pasted, not have it go to a predetermined cell or column.

I want excel to multiple the values in a specific range.
For example:
I will give 2 dates: MAR 2006 and MAR 2007. Excel should multiple the value 0,76 and 0,71. It's simples because is 2 months. But I have a lot of months (2006 until 2009).
So I would give MAR 2006 and MAR 2009 and excel should multiple the values from MAR 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. All the values in the range, but only for March.
The month will never change between the first and the last date.
I think on using VLOOKUP. Then I have the first value and the last one. But how can I tell excel to multiple the range?
The ideal will be a VLOOKUP that returns the ADDRESS of the cell, not the value. But I didn't see this possibility.
I'm new to excel and was trying to make a workbook that will have a drop down list populate based on a user input in two separate cells. Basically, i have columns: name, pages, and books. I would like to have the drop down list match data by first finding the amount of books read, then finding the amount of pages read. Then any name that meets the criteria will be available in the drop down list. How can I do this?

The reference cell contains diagnostic codes; for each respective Dx column I need a 1 or 0, obviously. Each Dx category has a range of values (Dx codes), so I need to write syntax that reflects this range. For example, =IF(A1=>141,AND(A1=<239.99)),"1","0")
In other words, if cell value is 141 through 239.99 then return 1, else 0
Would it be something like this:

how to set a cells value into a variable, using .value, then set another cells value equal to that variable without using copy/paste
What I can't figure out is how to see the value of multiple cells to a variable and place them into another range of the same size using .value. It would be nice to free up the clipboard.
I've been trying to put together some code to hide a range of rows on one page based on cell values on a different page. So basically Sheet1 cell A1 value is 10, A2 value is 20. When macro is run via button rows on Sheet2 from 10-20 would be hidden. The issue is the values in the cells on Sheet1 will vary. I thought something like the following would work but it doesn't.

I have a spreadhseet where columns I and J (range from I6 to J300) serve as input cells, off to the right, 23 columns over in AF and AG respectively I have a hidden array formula (Index, match) calculating values based on input in either column I or J and several factors embedded in reference table in the same sheet. That works fine. I want cells in columns I and J to be interdependent, in other words, input in column I drives calculations in a hidden formula and I want the value of that calculaton to display in column J (in a adjacent cell input in I6 results in display in J6), but if I input value in J then this value will drive calculation in a hidden formula and display in I (let's say I is centimeters and J is inches). I have a code that works (I set it up as a try just for few rows) but only one code section at a time, not together. If I choose column I (#9) to go first in code, values update in J, but not the other way around, if I choose column J (#10) to go first in code, values update in I, but not the other way around. What am I doing wrong, I tried Target.address case, I tried Intersect ... is nothing then etc. They all work one at a time but not together. Here is the code as it stands now

I tried to use sum but it doesn't count the value and count doesn't recognize the range. I attached the file so you can see what we're trying to do.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have two rows of numbers, say D1 to F1 and D2 to F2. Row D2 to F2 will always have lower values.
The range below it is D3 to F100. I want the range to clear the contents of the cells in the range where:
a) the cell is > the x1 cell above it
OR b) the cell is < the x2 cell above it
If it is = or between the two cells, the value stays.
Example:
If D1 thru F1 is 4, 5, 7 and D2 thru F2 is 2, 4, 3, then:
D3 is 5, it is cleared
E3 is 4, it stays
F3 is 5, it stays
D4 is 2, it stays
E4 is 1, it is cleared
F4 is 9, it is cleared
Etc
Basically, the cell in the range looks up its own column, compares itself to x1 and x2 in that column. If it's greater than or less than, then it clears the contents, if not, the value in the cell stays.

I have a range of cells where each row relates to an employee.
In Cells (Columns H:L) I want the range of cells on that row to turn blue if the user puts a "H" in one of the cells.
Also it will need to be adapted for "O" , "Y", "X" - each with different colours.
This needs to be repeated on each row for each person.
I need to keep track of tardy occurences, but I only have to consider occurrences that have occurred in the past six months from the current day. Column A contains the names of the employees, Column C thru IV contains daily dates beginning with 1/1/2007. Column B contains a CountIf function to count the number of times T appears in columns c - iv.

I'm not trying to write a macro which can select a range of cells (G:L) relative to the date in Column B, which represents the value in cell P6. In other words:Read the value of cell P6 Find that value in column B (e.g. B646)highlight the cells in columns G through to L on that row (e.g. select G646:L646) I am then aiming to paste the values in that range of cells, so that those stay in the spreadsheet and are not lost when the next lot of figures comes in the following day.

but that's obviously a static range, rather than looking up the date first.
I'm looking for a way to count the cells in a specified range if the cell contains a timevalue (such as: 0:05 or 1:15). When a cell in the same range contains a normal value (such as: 1 or 20) it should not be counted.
What formula should i use for this?
I was experimenting with:
=CountIF(N4:N50,">TIMEVALUE(0:01)")
and
=CountIF(N4:N50,">TIME(0,0,1)")
But both don't seem to work.
