Differentiate Rows Based On A Date In The Row

Jan 10, 2008

I'm trying to differentiate rows based on a date in the row. I'm grouping dates together and that's where I'm running into difficulties. I'm breaking the month up into 5 segments which are as follows:

Segment 1: The 1st of the month through to the 1st thursday of the month
Segment 2: The 1st Friday through to the 2nd Thursday
Segment 3: The 2nd Friday through to the 3rd Thursday
Segment 4: The 3nd Friday through to the 4th Thursday
Segment 3: The 4th Friday through to the end of the month.

What I'm trying to accomplish is have rows with information. One of the cells in those rows will be a date. If the date fits into segment 1, the cell to the right of it will have a 1, if the date fits into segment 2 the cell to the right of that date will have a 2 and so on.

Macro To Copy Rows Based On Moving Date And Paste Rows Into Identical Sheet

Jan 28, 2014

I need to build a macro which copies 3 rows every day and pastes the row data into an identical sheet. The three rows will have column "D" as =today(). As the days progress the three rows will change accordingly ( tag to the today's date)

e.g. 28/1/2014
28/1/2014
28/1/2014

I need the macro to recognize the date when pressed and copy the corresponding rows of data and paste them into an identical sheet with the same date. The second sheet is an archive sheet. The date will tick over as per the calendar.

Differentiate Between How A Cell Is Selected

Mar 22, 2012

know if there is a way to tell and respond differently to how a cell is selected (i.e. mouse click versus arrow keys)? This stems from a desire to highlight selected cells when they are chosen. A previous post on some code I provided got me to this:

Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal target As Range)
Application.EnableEvents = False
With target.Interior
Select Case .ColorIndex
Case -4142

[code]....

However, this highlights cells as the user moves around the sheet via arrow keys (like leaving a trail). What I need is for cells to highlight ONLY if they are left clicked on by the mouse.

Excel 2007 :: Differentiate Between Sample IDs

Apr 24, 2013

I am working in excel 2007. I have been using the COUNTIFS function to pull out some summary stats from my data. For my data I have sample ID's which are a letter followed by a number e.g. A12, A20, A39, A50. I have 40 columns of variables I am looking at which for each sample ID have either a value of 0 or a numerical number. For each column, I want to count firstly any samples that are greater than 0 (i.e. they have a numerical value) AND if the sample ID differs. This is because I have multiple samples per ID and so I want to know how many different ID's have a numerical value.

Is this at all possible in Excel? I do not know all of the functions very well, so I cannot find anything that will allow me to look at differences in the samples ID.

I am trying to calculate interest between 2 dates and leap year is calculated on a different interest rate. Right now I have it set up so I have to manually type in the leap years in a separate field instead of being able to just you point a to point b.

Hide Rows Based On Date

Jan 2, 2009

I need to write a macro that will hide several rows if a calculated date's month is not within the month of the report.

Example:
If month of date in cell B20 is not the same as the month of date in cell A5
then hide rows 20 thru 30 if it is the same month, display rows 20 thru 30.

I need to do this comparison twice. If month of date in cell B40 is not the same as the month of date in cell A5 then hide rows 40 thru 50 if it is the same month, display rows 40 thru 50. The dates in B20 and B40 are the result of a calculations (Date in cell A5 plus some number of days) if that makes any difference. I don't think it should.

Moving Rows Based On Input Of Date?

Jun 17, 2014

I am a production manager for a homebuilder and I am trying to create an Excel spreadsheet that will allow me to input a date in a column and have a second column dependant on the date and move as I change the date.

Since no work is done on weekends, I'd like the output column to skip weekends and move the input to the next available weekday. I have conditionally formatted the date to be a red fill as a visual cue but I'm not sure where to go from here.

Deleting Rows Based On Expiry Date

Nov 19, 2008

I have a worksheet. Column A contains employee name, column B contains the date of the first day of the week's holidays they are booked for, i.e. 06/12/08 means they start their holiday for one week starting 06/12/08. That's probably really obvious, sorry.

Once a week I update the vacation list. I want to write a VBA code that looks at the date in Column B and deletes the entire row if it has occured. I'd like to use a value in C1 as the reference so if that cell has 06/15/08 in it then the code would delete every row where the date is prior to 06/15/08.

Dim iCol As Integer

Application. ScreenUpdating = False

iCol = 7 'Filter on column G (Create Date)

For x = Cells(Cells.Rows.Count, iCol).End(xlUp).Row To 2 Step -1

Copy Rows To New Sheet Based On Date Range Selected On A Form

May 8, 2009

This spreadsheet must perform calculations for every line since new items are added every day, so VBA is probably better than copying formulas down every line of the spreadsheet:

With the press of a button, I need to be able to select a range of dates and copy all lines within the range to a seperate sheet with the desired name under the same headings they currently reside under. I have included some modified code that is being used in another spreadsheet that was created for me, but I do not pretent to understand all of it and I no longer work with the creator of the spreadsheet. How do I use a button to open the form for date selections and entering the name of the new sheet, and then use the start button on the form to begin the matching and copying to a new sheet? If there is an easier way I am all for that too.

Also, I need to keep a total of all items by month as well as a monthly and annual average of the Total Item Value on the FY09 tab. This will eventually produce another sheet when a button is pressed to submit as a report. I think part of this answer is in using the MONTH(serial_number) function but I can only get this to work for a single cell. I need to search the entire Distribution 'D' column, match all the months to the FY09 tab to the respective month, and calculate the totals and averages. I think SUMIF may also be needed as well but need the MONTH(serial_number)to work first. If there is a way to code all of this in VBA that would be fine as well.

I have a pivot table on Sheet1 where I am trying to get the totals and averages described above but I am not sure it can do what I need. In column 'B' I need the total number of each item as well as the total number of all items. I tried various formats and adding the totals from the Totals tab but I have not figured it out.

Excel 2003 :: Optimizing Macro To Hide Rows Based On Date

Oct 30, 2011

Operating System: Windows XP, Excel version: 2003

Aim: To create a Macro to hide all rows where the date in column D is before today. Column D has about 600 rows.

Current solution:

Code:
Sub Hide_Old2()

'Worksheet name
With Worksheets("Schedule")
'set start of date range
Set rngStart = .Range("D2")
'find end of date range

[Code] .....

The problem with this solution is its speed, or lack thereof. It causes the screen to hang and flicker while it cylces through. Is there some way to create a range based on the date and hide the range? or another solution?

Note: Autofilter is not an option, as the spreadsheet with the dates needs to be kept simple for other stakholders and the macro is being run from another sheet.

Copy Rows To Workbook Into Rows Matching Date

Dec 13, 2006

I have 2 workbooks.

The first one (Top Ten Auto Generator.xls) ( Sheet is Summary) has 1 row (13) with 4 cells that have data. A13 with date (today formula), B13, D13, and E13 are numbers. The cell range will be the same each time the data is copied (the workbook has a marco to generate the numbers each day already).

The date doesn't need to be copied, just the other 3 cells data (in the same order) using paste special.

The workbook that needs the cell data is a report ( Dashboard.xls) that has lots of different departments each using 3 columns for their specific data. The left most column A is the date listing to match.

The column Range for my department on that "Raw Data" sheet is "H", "I", & "J" where the "H" would get the data in "B13", "I" would get "D13", "J" would get "E13" for the date that matches the other workbook.

So the way it would work, is that once the vba is run the 3 cells from the auto generator are copied, then the vba opens the dashboard.xls and looks for the date in column A which matches the other workbooks A13 date value, and then the cells are pasted into that row, but in column H, I, & J.

Here's sort of some code that I put together to see if that would be easier to understand. I'm new at doing the vba so I don't have better code.

Private Sub CommandButtonpaste2dash_Click()

'get our data from generator

Windows("Top Ten Auto Generator.xls").Activate
Sheets("Summary").Select
Range("B13,D13,E13").Select
Range("E13").Activate
Selection.Copy
Workbooks.Open "Dashboard.xls"
Sheets("Raw Data").Activate

'look for the date in column A which matches A13 in the Auto generator
Some Code For finding the right date

'once found, paste special to the same row, but in column H (the 3 cells should paste together ok)
some code For pasting into H In the same row As the found date

Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValuesAndNumberFormats
ActiveWorkbook.Save
MsgBox "Done!!!"
End Sub
