View 11 RepliesI have a workbook wherein I have 7 sheets.Lets say they are called Tom, Peter, John, Sia, Mia, Tia and "Home Page". I have 2 buttons for Report 1 and 2 to which I want to assign the macros.I also have a table wherein I have defined which sheets I want to show. First Column of table has sheet names from A2:A6(Home Page,Tom, Peter, John, Sia, Mia, Tia). Column 2 has report 1 sheets - Home Page, Tom, John, Mia and Column 3 has report 2 sheet names- Home Page, Peter, Sia, Tia
What I want to do is, if I click on "Report 1" button, I only want to show sheets whose names are there in cells under report 1 so for report 1 it will be Home Page, Tom, John, Mia. For Report 2, it will be Home Page, Peter, Sia, Tia. Since I have many reports I want this to be one macro. Stepwise, here is what I want
1. Click on button for Report, macro should check which report I am referring to and select the range on basis of that. Report 1 = column B, if Report 2, Range is column C.
2. Basis the range I want sheets to show or hide.
I'm just stuck on a final thing......I would like the pivot table to collapse based on the outcome of a formula. For instance I've got a project that has A, B, C, D as component parts, these parts all have a percentage work completed. If let's say A is a 100% complete I would like to automatically collapse A, so it will just show the summary for A. Obviously this can be done by hand, but since there is quite a lot of data I would like to automate the proces.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have two options in a Cell as Applicable and Not Applicable. This is in a Drop-down menu and what I want is that when I choose Applicable, it should bring up additional 5 or 6 cells for me to complete. And if I choose Not Applicable, the additional cells should not show up. The default would be Not Applicable.
Having a problem with a survey I'm creating in Excel.
I have a question with a Yes/No response cell. I want to show/hide several rows below it. The problem is that these rows also contain 6 option buttons, which I also need to hide/show depending on the response cell.
Is there a handy way to hide all of these shapes/controls in the defined range, and then "unhide" them if the cell value changes back to "Yes"?
I have a workbook that I want to show or hide a selection of cells depending on another cell when printing it.
Example
If cell x = A2A then display a certain cell set if anything else then exclude cell set from printing.
code to write down to make a checkbox hide the text in a few cells..
What I want is..
When I tick the check box I want it to show me the text in the cells (C11:D11 to be specific) and then when I untick it I want it to hide the text so all you can see is the background colour.
Here is the attatchment of what I have so far:
i have a workbook with two sheets. i have a command button on sheet 1 that inserts another worksheet from another workbook based on a cell value in sheet 1. i would like this specific command button on sheet 1 to be hidden or disabled until a value is entered into a certain cell on sheet 1 that matches a value in a named range on sheet 2.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI want an option, if click on drop down button on parent cell than few a cells will come out in which I have mentioned details of the parent cell.
By pressing the same button again those cells will be hidden or covered under parent cell.
I have a conditional cell that change color or not if condition...OK so far. Now, how can I change the color of a range of cells when condition is in just one cell. Ex:
If C15>=150, change (C3;C20) to yellow.
I really can't find the way to do it.
"copy cell range based on conditions" and it didnt really get an answer. There was one that copied the info the next blank cell on that line, but im not smart enough yet to figure out how to copy it over. ( getting there though with lots of staring at code).
2 sheets. I have already created auto modules to fill in data and code, and sorted the columns so they are in line.
Sheet 1. Info : has 9 columns. So if column = 9 and the value = new.
Then i want to copy the range on the columns (A:G) and then paste it on the other sheet ( Card info) as long as Column A is empty ( as in next available blank cell) ( something like a DO while worksheet("Card info").column(A) <> ""
In a data table, I need to sequence down a criteria list in Autofilter to the end. The list contains may contain either numberic or string dat, but no blanks. At each criterion, I need to copy the range and paste to another workbook. After reviewing many posts, I beleive I can create a VBA macro to do everything except sequencing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am creating a form in excel and need to hide a selection of cells, not an entire column, or an entire row, but the cell range K43:K48. I want these cells to be hidden at all times unless any one of H44:H48 has the value "Other" inputted.
If Other is selected I want range K43:K48 to become unhidden. Is there any way to do this?
I have tried to use Conditional Formatting to do this, but only being able to use 3 conditions makes it harder to do when I have a range of 5 cells that could display "Other:"
I have been struggling with a way to use an IF statement that determines if a cell in column B = 1 then copy that cell and the two cells next to it to a cell starting in range B50. Once the condition is true would want it to copy another below and so on.
B C D E D
1 E10 Rear door failed BL OK
2 B4 Clearance light inop. KL OK
2 C1 Fire extinguisher date expired KL Ok
1 E1 Bumper falling off BL NO
The first and fourth row have a "1" in column B. So as a result these two rows meet the condition and want to copy just the cell in B thru D. Results would look like below
First entry copied to cell B50
1 E10 Rear door failed
1 E1 Bumper falling off
I have a file with four columns of data that represent quarterly figures. I would like to hide the entire row if all four quarters are blank. The cells I need to check are P, Q, R & S and the data begins with row 21. I know how to get the last row in the range.

I am not getting an error but nothing seems to happen either. Also The Boder of the cell only appers on the Last cell it should be on the cells....
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'd like to: Display the contents of a group of cells in a userform's label's caption. The columns containing the cell's which contents would be displayed are fixed (do not change). The rows will change. I need to reference the Ar, Br and Cr columns (where r is for row) of whichever column I am working on at a given moment.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am very new to VBA. I need to have a code that will hide/unhide cells based on a date range.
Cell A1 contains the formula for todays date, based on that answer, I want to hide/unhide columns based on a weekly date range.
Ex.:
Today is 03/18/2014 I want excel to say If A1(Today) is greater than 03/14/2014 and less than or equal to 03/21/2014 then unhide column E and hide the rest.
Then let's say Today is 03/22/2014. I want excel to say If A1(Today) is greater than 03/21/2014 and less than or equal to 03/28/2014 then unhide column F and hide the rest.
columns in questions are D-AC
Basically, I have a worksheet that shows test results for 6 separate tests. If an objective is met in a test then it is marked with an "X". If an objective is partially met then it is marked with a "/" and if it is not met then it is marked with a "." . I have now created a combined column where I want to collate whether an objective has been met at all across the 6 tests.
For e.g. if in the range H14:M14 there is an "X" then N14 should show "X". If there is no "X" but there is a "/" then N14 should show "/" and it there are neither values in the range then it will show "." .
I tried
[Code] ....
but it just came back with a formula error.
Using VBA or by other means, I want to disable user entry in cells G1 to X1 if the user places a value in A1, similarly if the user places a value in A2 then disable user entry in cells G2 to X2, and so on.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI would appreciate it a lot if someone could explain to me how I hide the value in the cell which a result is stored in when one of the two cells in the calculation is empty.
For exaple:
C1 should be blank if A1 or B1 is empty in this formula:
=A1+B1
One problem I am however having is with a spreadsheet similar to this example found on another site. On the pivot table sheet. The link is http://www.kan.org/tips/files/sumproduct_advanced1.xls
The problem Im having is, for a particular number that is column D I want to hide what is column A. For example for every number "0" that is found in column D, I want to hide its heading in column A along with the rest of the numbers that are in column D that are associated with the heading as well.
I copied and modified the pivottable code from http://www.ozgrid.com/VBA/hide-pivot-fields.htm. I am getting a "Run time 13" error on the line I colored purple. I tried removing different "Dim" statements to make it work and I'm having no luck.
Sub PickUpPivotTable()
Dim pt As PivotTable, pi As PivotItem
Dim lType As Long, lHarn As Long
Dim strCri As String, strCri1 As String, strCri2 As String
Dim bHide As Boolean
Dim xlCalc As XlCalculation
Set pt = Worksheets("Monthly Pivot Summary").PivotTables("MonthlyPivotSummary")
strCri = "P/U"
For Each pi In pt.PivotFields("Type").PivotItems
lType = pi..........................
Attached is a portion of the file I will be working with, just to illustrate what I would like to do.
I have a macro that copies and pastes data - it uses these Tasks as templates. The macro copies these rows for each task that is required under the headings (Task #1 - Task#?). What I would like is to hide the rows under Station Maintenance Task #0 and it's 6 rows that are associated with it, as well as Task #0 under CMS and the 12 rows associated with it. In order for the macro I already have work properly is that these would be unhidden for the macro to run and then re-hidden afterward.
I searched on the forum for this topic, and found hide/unhide where you would put in the beginning row and ending row - however since there will be numberous rows added in, this type of defining rows would not work.
I have 5 cells on a sheet. When one has an X in it the other 4 go blank. It so I can keep track of who has ownership of a job.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn the included sheet I have 5 groups of data with five categories in column A. Current, Plan, Plan Var, Prior, Prior Var. I have included the button “Show Options” that opens the userform I created and gives 5 options. What I want is the user to be able to select any number of these options and then upon “ok” the rows in the sheet that weren’t selected are automatically hidden. If the procedure is completed again and a differen set of options is selected I want it to unhide any hidden ones that were selected and hide any that werent selected.
So if just current is selected the sheet will show 5 rows of current and nothing else. If current and prior are selected it will show current prior current prior current prior... etc.
I have some hide code that I created in the file as well.
Sub NotCurrentHide() ...
I want by using some code I've seen on this forum or using the macro writer and then tweaking the code. So with that said, I've written the attached code but I know there is probably an easier way to write it. It cycles through about 12 sheets using the same below code, but I didn't list that code.
Sub Hide_Rows()
Dim i As Integer
For i = 3 To 418
Sheets("AFA - UMBI").Select
If ActiveSheet. Range("b" & i).Value = "2008-2" Then
Rows(i & ":" & i).EntireRow.Hidden = True
ElseIf ActiveSheet.Range("b" & i).Value = "2008-3" Then
Rows(i & ":" & i).EntireRow.Hidden = True
ElseIf ActiveSheet.Range("b" & i).Value = "2008-4" Then
Rows(i & ":" & i).EntireRow.Hidden = True
ElseIf ActiveSheet.Range("b" & i).Value = "2009-1" Then
Rows(i & ":" & i).EntireRow.Hidden = True
ElseIf ActiveSheet.Range("b" & i).Value = "2009-2" Then
Rows(i & ":" & i).EntireRow.Hidden = True
ElseIf ActiveSheet.Range("b" & i).Value = "2009-3" Then
Rows(i & ":" & i).EntireRow.Hidden = True
ElseIf ActiveSheet.Range("b" & i).Value = "2009-4" Then
Rows(i & ":" & i).EntireRow.Hidden = True
End If
Next i
End Sub
get my code to work.
I have a sheet with a dropdown box in cell "J1" which is meant as a 'Show only rows containing this value'.
Column Q, from row 3 downward has a pick box which lists the same values as the "J1" drop down box, but uses code to combine whats chosen with commas. An example of what is in a cell in column Q is "SeaHawk, BlackHawk, Squirrel, MRH", where cell J1 would be either "SeaHawk" or "MRH" or something completely different.
I need to only show rows, with text in column Q containing the smae text as J1.
My Excel>Preferences>View>Comments is set to Comment Indicator Only.
Working from keyboard and mouse, when I click on a cell holding a comment ($B$52) , the comment appears. When I click on a different cell the comment disappears.
When I run the code
...
Range("B52").Select
End Sub
the cell is selected, but no comment appears.
When I run
...
With Range("B52")
.Select
.Comment.Visible = True
End With
End Sub
the comment remains visible even after I click off of B52.
I get the same behaviour when I use Application.Goto rather than Select.
I would like to write a routine that
1) creates a comment for cell B52
2) selects B52
3) shows the comment in B52
< VB routine ends >
4) comment disappears when user clicks on different cell.
Does this require event code?
I bet you're getting sick of the "X" questions, and I have done an exhaustive search but the search filter kills searching for (X) or 'X' or "X" .. but nothing I did find is what I am looking to do. I have any # of userforms that when you click the "X" in the top right side, it will hide the userform... once.. Is there a fix to the code below to make it do it every time its clicked?
Private Sub UserForm_QueryClose(Cancel As Integer, CloseMode As Integer)
If CloseMode <> 1 Then Cancel = 1
UserForm15.Hide
UserForm11.Show
If CloseMode = 1 Then Cancel = 1
UserForm15.Hide
UserForm11.Show
End Sub
Like I said, I don't want to disable it, I tried that off of one of the posts I found and thats just plain annoying, I just want it to hide the one userform and show the other. This will do it once and then you can click it all you want and it wont do anything.. see the annoying trait above.. this lasts until you exit the program.. so the X button can be hit repeatedly though out the day. The userform 15 is visible, userform 11 isn't shown, IE not behind userform 15.
